Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.

Ask the Tropers:
openNotifiers ignored
Yes, again.
Dark Pheonix 94, history here, has consistent indentation problems, remaining unresolved after multiple notifiers.
A natter-ish addition is one of the edits made here, one addition here has them attaching natter to their own example, and again here, regular bad indentation here, here, here...
Notably, every example I posted here has been made after the most recent notifier.
openPossible rogue TLP launch
Outgrowing Ones Parents Formerly Short Parents Tall Kids seems... off. The title is a train wreck, the description is a stub, the grammar is subpar, and several examples are ZCEs.
Since I don't normally hang around the TLP, could someone confirm whether this was a legitimate launch?
Edited by RoundRobinopenWhat it's wrong with this example?
The troper PF said it does not explain the trope properly, yet I failed to see waht does not explain, here the example:
Hypocritical Fandom: Fans called out Bandai Namco due to the fact that in order to get Tekken 7 on Nintendo Switch, fans must ask for it, and yet they have no problem at all asking for Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 5 or Dragon Ball Budokai 5 to be made. Dragon Ball Raging Blast 3 is the sole exception to this restriction. Thanks to France for winning the FIFA World Cup 2018. Updated Re Release are not spared either: One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 Deluxe Edition was trashed for being an ‘outdated trash game’ and they have the gall to request one for the even older Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3.
What it does not explain that require to be erased back and forth? I said in the example that they keep asking games like slaves asking for freedom, something they said to Bandai Namco that they should do it by their own will, not because we asked for it.
Edited by GentilernandezopenOne piece wano character page edit war Anime
There is an edit war about the proper pronouns for a female identifying Male character. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tropers/akuda-bar has been making them Male and refused to participate in a discussion.

Edited by isoycrazyopenPutting tropes in the FanWorks/ namespace.
The FanWorks/ namespace is usually just used as an index of fan works that have their own pages in the wiki for a given work.
However, sometimes a few "generic" tropes for those fan works are added, like is the case recently on FanWorks.Thomas The Tank Engine.
I think this is a misuse of the namespace and they should be removed, but I'd like some feedback from other tropers first.
openIncorrect Capitalized Trope
Cradle-to-Grave Character was launched months ago but the "to" isn't capitalized.
openTroper with ZCE problems
Troper Scoutstr 295 seems to have a problem with Zero Context Examples. They added the following to Film.Doctor Sleep:
- Abandoned Area: The Overlook Hotel became one after Jack's rampage.
- Hell Hotel: Guess.
I hid them with comment tags and sent a standard ZCE notifier; they unhid them without alteration. I was just typing up an Edit War report when, to their credit, they made another edit and attempted to add some context (although not enough to fully fix the problem IMO), but they also added:
- Beard of Sorrow: Dan wears one of these at some point.
I've sent them a PM asking them to come discuss it here.
Edited by HighCrateopenIgnored threads in the Trope Repair Shop
I was looking over the thread list in the Trope Repair Shop to see if my own thread from a few weeks ago had been opened, and I noticed a couple other threads that really seem like they haven't even been glanced at.
This thread was edited a couple days after being posted. The OP admitted that it was a mistake and asked for the thread to be deleted—and yet there it sits, over a month later.
This thread circumvented being locked because it didn't have a proper title. Discussion there only lasted a couple days before stalling.
And while I'm at it, I suppose I may as well inquire about my own thread. Is there some problem with it that's prevented it from being opened, or is it just another victim of the Trope Repair Shop's backlog?
openBroken context line
So, in the history page, there is a context line that shows what being changed. But apparently, it's completely broken so the line doesn't show anything but 1 and is a complete mess. Is this something that the admins are trying to resolve or has it not been spoken for a long time?
openWhat is it called when..?
Hey everyone. Can someone please tell me if there's a term on this site that describes such a situation where a troper makes numerous edits on the same page within a very short timeframe? I feel like I saw something about this on one of the Administrivia pages, but I can't seem to find it.
Alternatively, if Ask The Tropers is not the right place to ask this question, can someone guide me to a forum or discussion board where I can figure out what this is called?
Here's an example: Li-Li1000 has a really bad tendency to make numerous edits on a single page in a short timeframe.
Edited by mouschilightopenEnsamble Darkhorse vs Base Breaking Character
under YMMV.Klonoa, Gantz was move from Ensamble Darkhorse to this.
- Base-Breaking Character: After years of being an Ensemble Dark Horse, Guntz/Gantz has started to get this because a lot of fans love pairing him up with Klonoa, romantically.
Since Base-Breaking Character and The Scrappy are incompatible, what about Darkhorse? What if a character starts a darkhorse, but become divided due to overexposure and hype? Is this, and should this example be moved to, Hype Backlash?
openOdd spam on BestEpisode.Nicktoons
Someone just spammed the Nicktoons Best Show Crowner with a nonsense statement. Would it be possible to get it all cleared up?
open movie or show where guy has a crush on a girl in a pickle poster Film
It’s either a movie or show (possibly a kids show) in this film the guy had a crush on this girl holding a jar of pickles in a field wearing a sun dress with brown hair. I’m pretty sure he never meets her but he day dreams about it but his sister also has a poster in her room. the guy makes fun of her for having a crush on the band on one of her posters. I know this is very little information but anything helps. something a 90’s kid would watch. Thank you
openA question on Homoerotic Subtext / Ho Yay
I suppose this question applies to both Homoerotic Subtext or Ho Yay: Does it count as an example if one person involved in the example is canonically homosexual (especially non-closeted), while the other person does not have known (or subtextual) sexual orientation?
opennew user deleting entries
New user barbara456 has been deleting entries across various pages, ranging from one or two examples to pages of text.
openRecap/MusicalEpisode
Recap.Musical Episode seems redundant with the main Musical Episode page, as it's just doing the same thing (listing the musical episodes of a series, but alphabetically), just without context.
openPossible ROCEJ Violation
On Trivia.Chuggaaconroy, there's an example under Missing Episode involving a video featuring ProJared being removed due to a scandal involving him that started a few months ago that was originally read this:
- One of his Pikmin 3 Mission Mode episodes was removed as of May 2019, as the episode in question had Pro Jared as his guest. This was because said guest star was in deep trouble for...controversial reasons involving Jared cheating on his wife.
However, machop changed it to this:
- One of his Pikmin 3 Mission Mode episodes was removed as of May 2019, as the episode in question had Pro Jared as his guest. This was because said guest star was then-currently being accused by people who might've thought Jared was harassing certain groups. Fortunately, those claims were proven as false as of September 2019 by Jared himself. The video is still currently missing, however.
However, people are debating whether ProJared was really telling the truth or not, and I fear this could lead to an edit war. I think this example should be rewritten to be more neutral and should warn about ROCEJ like this:
- A Pikmin 3 Mission Mode episode featuring Pro Jared as a guest was removed as of May 2019, following allegations of Jared cheating on his wife. And we'll leave it at that.
openGood to put it back? Film
So a few days ago I put a Truer to the Text entry on DCEU: Superman. Master Hero deleted it, saying that its not a character trope. I asked in the "Are these character tropes" thread and got the reply (just 1, to be fair) that if the entry focuses on the character, it should be good to go there. And looking over all the entries on the main page, there are a lot focusing on individual characters.
So am I good to put it back?
openAce Attorney's Complete Monsters. Videogame
According to https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Roger_Retinz and https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Bansai_Ichiyanagi (aka Blaise Debeste) these two are Pure Evil, which is the Complete Monster equivalent on that site, why aren't they listed as such on TV Tropes?
Rock Raider added back two commented out zero-context examples on Black Best Friend. They should be commented again, right? They're just name-only examples.
