So, it's been a trend for soft-split tropes to be split into multiple sections even when it's not needed and makes the page a hassle to navigate. In some cases, the trope in question is so large that hard-splitting some (or all) of the internal subtropes into their pages is more beneficial than letting them take over the page.
EDIT: Here’s the sandbox for this effort—Sandbox.Soft Split Cleanup

Plot Allergy is also divided into "types". This is unnecessary right?
Just un-split Token Non-Human.
That doesn't seem necessary to us, no.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Dark Reprise is soft split into Dark Reprise and Sarcastic Echo. While that makes sense, given that the trope does say there's two main forms, the vast majority of entries on the page are Dark Reprise. There are very few Sarcastic Echo examples. One sub-page is the same (DarkReprise.Theatre, DarkReprise.Video Games has only DR examples).
Some of the Dark Reprise folders are further soft split as well as follows (there are plenty of examples in each section):
- Dark Reprise:
- Films — Animation
- Disney Animated Canon (potholed to Franchise.Disney Animated Canon)
- Musicals
- Other
- Films — Live Action
- Musicals
- Other
- Films — Animation
There are so many examples in the two Film folders that I'm wondering if perhaps they need to be converted into sub-pages.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. All Cliffhanger subpages are soft-split between "Resolved Cliffhangers" and "Unresolved Cliffhangers". We call unresolved ones Left Hanging, so what's happening here?
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupHanging Up on the Grim Reaper is split to "comedic" and "dramatic" examples.
Mars Wants Chocolate is split between examples related to chocolate, and examples related to other foods, which doesn't seem necessary. Should it be unsplit?
Welcome to Ideal's WorldAmerican Music is divided by geographical region. Is this useful?
Those type of splits usually don't bother me but I don't see the need for the split on that page.
I would support un-soft splitting that page.
I don't think it's neccessary.
Macron's notescurrently the example list for Aristocrats Are Evil is split by type of aristocrat: kings, queens, dukes, etc.
this was likely caused by the description having a rather long list that explained how specific members of the aristocracy are often portrayed that I have since relocated to Analysis.Aristocrats Are Evil after bringing it up at the trope description improvement drive [1]
I don't personally see a reason for the split, but what do others think

I agree with un-softsplitting examples.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallSeries Mascot has been split into four categories for years, and it seems wholly unnecessary.

We agree with unsplitting that page.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Tom Hanks Syndrome has a whole split section for "general examples" which seems obviously outdated. Several examples aren't even general and are in fact repeated elsewhere on the page.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Monster Hunter: Stories has an entire section for tropes exclusive to the anime, which should really go on its own page. I'd make it, except I haven't seen it, so I don't know how to write a good summary.
Obstructive Bureaucrat is split three ways; should they be merged?
Edited by WarJay77 on Sep 26th 2022 at 2:13:25 PM
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessIt assumes those three categories will not overlap and nobody will have any problems sorting their new examples. Which is probably untrue.
Don't think Bottomless Magazines needs separating types of weaponry

TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup^Yeah, I don't think the soft split is needed for that page.
Macron's notesCar Fu has a very specific sub-category.
(Also I've just noticed Sandbox.Soft Split Cleanup is a thing.)
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI have it on my signature and it's on the sticky post but sandbox doesn't get much use.
Anyways, I agree that Car Fu doesn't need the soft split but I am usually biased against soft splits.

Macron's notesDoes the subject-based split on Edutainment Show actually do anything, or would it be better to sort by media category as normal?
Edited by Adept on Oct 4th 2022 at 9:11:23 PM
The soft-splitting of Obstructive Bureaucrat is kind of self-demonstratingly obstructive, ain't it? But yeah I tend to dislike soft-splitting "played for laughs" and "played for drama" sections.
As for Edutainment Show, I feel like I've brought that up before, and some shows tackle multiple subjects (like how Sesame Street pretty much tackles every subject a toddler would need to know), so I don't think the split is necessary.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.
I see no good reason in this separation
