• Krillin of Dragon Ball Z showed every sign of crushing hard on Bulma. She, of course, was deeply in love with Yamcha (until she wasn't) and Krillin himself was too easily cowed to even hint to her at his interest. Besides, he ends up married to another girl — Android #18.

OMG this is the most random and most weird entry I've ever seen. There is literally zero evidence of this in the franchise.

Hopeless Suitor

Just leaving it here that a bunch of English titles for the 2023 Total Drama season were used on the Recap pages based off a Wikipedia edit, but Word of God confirmed they're all fake. I've seen leaks of actual English titles but we should wait til they're properly released and then move the pages.

From Mainstream Obscurity:

• So many people have heard of Rush Limbaugh, and yet so few Americans outside his target audience have listened to him, that when a website listed "the ten most racist things Rush Limbaugh has said", all but one of which were made up out of whole cloth (and the tenth wasn't actually a racist statement but was an example of Rush Limbaugh talking about race, so close enough) few questioned its authenticity.

Politics aside, five of the quotes were real.

I think the entry could easily be amended to mention that half of the quotes were made up. The spirit still applies.

From The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man:

The Other Darrin: Despite the queue line footage using almost the exact same animation and character designs as the 90's animated series (with some minor differences), none of the voice actors reprised their roles for this ride. Both Spider-Man and J. Jonah Jameson are voiced by Chris Edgerly instead of Christopher Daniel Barnes and Edward Asner, Doctor Octopus is voiced by Rodger Bumpass instead of Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Pat Fraley voices Hobgoblin instead of Mark Hamill, Jim Wise voices Electro instead of Phil Proctor, and Bill Fagerbakke voices Hydro-Man instead of Rob Paulsen. Candi Milo doing the sound of Scream's snarls is an exception only because Scream never appeared in that show, with only her fellow symbiotes Venom and Carnage appearing.

This and one other bullet from the YMMV page presumes the series had any influence on the ride's visuals, a claim I find questionable on account of the voice cast AND the character designs being kinda different. Jameson and Doc Ock don't even sound the same. Were they even animated by the same studio?

• An extremely serious glitch can occur in Donkey Kong Country 2 on the vertically-scrolling Castle Crush stage. There is a barrel near the beginning which can be grabbed and broken without being thrown. A demonstration of the glitch can be seen here. The glitch can cause the game to crash in some cases, but this could end up being worse than a simple restart or even losing save files (which is another potential result of the glitch). In some cases, the glitch's effects are so severe that they damage the cartridge itself beyond repair, usually by corrupting its ROM. An example of the broken ROM can be seen (here). Some accounts suggest that this damage can even extend to the console or emulator itself. The same issues do not appear to occur in the Virtual Console version. Somebody risked the life of his Donkey Kong Country 2 cartridge and performed the glitch on a real SNES multiple times, as seen here.

From what I've heard of this glitch, it can damage your cartridge, and is quite serious, but console or emulator? I've heard mixed things, rumors, etc. I'm fairly certain some of this is false (on top of the Bold Inflation)—would anyone be willing to assist with a potential rewrite?

I read this and was like "how could a software glitch possibly damage what is almost certainly a mask-programmed ROM?"; sure enough, the pinned comment on that second YouTube link explains that it's the on-cartridge SRAM that's getting corrupted, something that can be fixed on a real cartridge by disconnecting the battery. I imagine fixing it on an emulator is as simple as deleting whatever file the emulator is keeping the game's save data in.

I can see a console being wrecked by a game glitch (it's happened to me, albeit with a disc-based system which isn't the case here), but unless an emulator is extremely badly programmed, there's no way to permanently break it in-software.

I already hated a Dragon Ball Example that was full of hideous misinformation but this one is even worse.

• Similar to DBZ above, Di C's English dub for Sailor Moon was not a hit when it first aired in syndication and actually was cancelled due to low ratings thanks to its early morning and afternoon timeslots being unsuitable for its target audience. Then a fan petition convinced USA Network to start showing reruns and the ratings were good enough for Di C to finish dubbing the remaining episodes of the second season... only for it to get cancelled again. Then Cartoon Network got a hold of it in 1998 and started airing it in the after-school timeslot with the Toonami block and the ratings took off to sky-high heights, eventually leading to Cloverway dubbing S and Super S with less censorship and keeping the original soundtrack. The success of the dub was arguably a big reason why the 90s-00s anime boom happened.

I really really REALLY doubt a fan petition worked, they just never do. And the reason Di C finished Sailor Moon R is because it was a hit on YTV before Toonami was even a thing.

To be fair, my acidic tone is because I thought the example credited the Homophobic Save Our Sailor fan group.

First, please don't let a quick bit of anger get ahead of you. Second, the example does seem rooted in Fan Myopia: There have been cases of fans who were able to resurrect a show through online outrage and merch/DVD sales, but unless someone involved in the dub credited said petition for keeping the show alive it shouldn't be taken at face value.

The Lion doesn't sound anything like Curly to me. Wasn't Curly known for having a really high and whiny voice?

I wonder if this editor got Curly confused with any of the other stooges, like Moe. Is there any confirmation that Lahr based CL's voice on any of the stooges, let alone Curly?

Oz fan here: There have been comparisons made between them in some books like Last of the Moe Haircuts, but I haven't found any confirmation that Bert ever cited Curly as an inspiration. The example should be cut regardless, since according to the edit history it was added by a ban evader.

Bumping my question regarding Mo Xiang Tong Xiu.

On Game Gear a note states regarding the Sega TV Adaptor: "Note that these will no longer pick up TV signals, as analog TV transmission ended in 2009". So, did the editor who added that statement really check if this is true across the world's 196 or so countries, or is it another US-centric statement? I'm not asking for analog TV transmission-cessation dates for all countries, but if the last holdouts ended in 2009, then fair enough. But if there are those (presumably less-developed examples with no HD/digital provision as of yet) who still provide it, the statement would have to be edited.

There are still countries that broadcast analogue television. Here is a list of countries by transition date, of whom many aren't yet done such as Brazil who won't finish the transition until at least 2024.

Ah but if we take this logic to its logical extreme we can also ask "Did the Game Gear release on any of the countries that still use Analog"?

Sequence Breaking fact check help? Which interludes can run out of order, and how are the trigger conditions poorly programmed to make this possible?

Nothing I can find on the internet is proving this true? And it came from before history records the writer:

• Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri: Ridiculously easy, so much so that players can accidentally trigger "interludes" (pages of text that tell the plot about the awakening Voice) in odd orders - the voice can casually talk to you and then three hours later, speak for the first time and you're surprised, etc. Also, the wording of some of the "lower" endings, such as military or economic, make planet seem like a bigger mystery than she should and is, depending on how far you are in the game.

On Heartwarming.Cartoon Network, there's this entry, with the subbullet added in 2015:

• The 20th Birthday Celebration. Cartoon Network devoting the entire month of October 2012 to celebrate their heritage past and present. All the fans praise the network and thank it for 20 wonderful years of memories.
  • Not to mention, they were able to bring Christine Cavanaugh out of retirement to voice Dexter one last time before her death two years later.

I doubt that Cavanaugh was brought back as Dexter, since she seemed to vanish from the industry entirely after her retirement. Plus whenever Dexter appears these days, he's usually voiced by Candi Milo. But I'm not sure which promo the subbullet is referring to, so I don't know what to look up to double check. It's not the one that's pictured in the page image, since Dexter does not speak in that one.

As much as I hate to admit it, I have no choice but to take a break from my self-imposed forum break since nobody else seems to be willing to take this here.

Per this ATT, I would like to request that DethroningMoment.The Mysterious Mr Enter is factchecked. In the ATT I mentioned some discussion posts that called out some inaccurate entries, and things just spiraled from there.

Leave it to a look at that page to make me realize that maybe we were treating Mr. Enter a bit harsh. He made some AWFUL mistakes, ones that made me feel like I would never support him again, which was heartbreaking as I was huge fan... but the fact that checking it just made me learn that he has since recently apologized for everything in sheer earnest by way of it being the sole subject of his anniversary video and seems to have actually grown as a person makes me forgive him... and makes the DMOS very due for a fact check as I wouldn't be shocked if more than one entry was riding the hate train I was admittedly part of to the point of reaching unfair criticism. Even by DMOS standards, the page is very vitriolic. (Mind you, there's a lot of valid entries too.)

I mean, keep in mind. We can only dispute these things on the basis of factual inaccuracies or if they're breaking other rules, so if people are just being very angry about something accurate but minor without getting into the realm of personal attacks and the like, that has to stay.

Indeed. Whomever decides to factcheck and cleanup the page (whether it be a single person or a group of people) should DEFINITELY keep that in mind.

(For the record, I have very low tolerance toward vitriol, so I won't be partaking in the cleanup.)
