It would be too long anyway. Also the PSG transformation scene was considered too NSFW despite you not seeing anything when the panties come off, so that would be the case for sure.

If I did submit it, I'd just trim it down to the relevant stuff anyway.

So uh, a dozen or so clips from The Toxic Avenger Part II were posted a few hours ago. They all seem to be from different scenes and the movie is only about an hour and a half long.

I'm thinking of a video we could use to show the trope No-Sell or Story-Breaker Power and I do have one, but it's 4 minutes long and I don't know where (or how) to cut it down in size. I'll show the video by the way.

I think that falls too much into spoiler territory, although I guess this may be a case of It Was His Sled.

I say that if and when the English dub comes out and/or enough time passes, it could work.

for the clean up thread etc. Some videos that need to be replaced or re-edited have been flagged. is there actually anything we can do about removing videos or changing them after we flag them?

Even there are a few videos i've uploaded personally that i'd like to remove and reupload to improve their resolution and format.

I think there was once a time when no videos were approved for 4 days. Really, either moderators are not in position to watch videos, or there's a large wave waiting for approval. Moderators have lives.

Could a mod move the Aladdin example on Black Widow to the trope it actually fits, Til Murder Do Us Part? Black Widow is about a female Serial Killer who kills multiple husband's, while Jafar is male and only planned on marrying and killing Jasmine as a one-time scheme to become sultan.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say there's no plans to allow regular tropers to do anything with the videos. So I must ask: why'd you even let us make a clean up thread if there's absolutely nothing we can do to clean anything?

If I sound a bit frustrated and salty, well...I am. The videos appear to be a chronic source of problems, and yet all we seem to be able to do is complain and hope these things can get fixed at some point. That's not helpful; that doesn't fix anything.

All I'm asking for is some acknowledgement here.

I think there should be a way for experienced tropers to update video's title, description, and media sources. Perhaps this could be a permission handed out more liberally than the moderator role. To prevent abuse, changing the thumbnail and deleting videos could be restricted to moderators and original uploaders.

I agree. Maybe something similar to Wikipedia's "extended confirmed" users (30 days old and 500 edits).

I was thinking of the same thing, in terms of the comparison. Whether or not this should be automatically given or not is another matter.

The The Vampair video on Distracted by the Sexy isn't Distracted by the Sexy - more of a seduction ploy, really (do we have a trope like that?).

Is it okay to post a video if a Youtuber is saying things in it?

One of the video examples on Skinny Dipping is from The Parent Trap (1998), which only just got its own page. Previously it was part of the The Parent Trap page, so that's what the video was attached to when it was uploaded. Is there a procedure to update the page that a video is attached to?

Could a mod change the title of The Helpful Fox Senko-san video example of Really 700 Years Old? The word "loli" isn't generally allowed on the wiki (except maybe under Memetic Mutation), as it implies sexualization of children (which Senko isn't, anyway).

I was of the thought that if we started the clean up essentially as the videos came in we could curb them, but it feels like videos of poor resolution, watermarks, not clearly or effectively displaying the trope keep going up, so it's an ever steeper uphill battle.

Which also brings up the question of what the minimum requirement is for a video to be reviewed and approved? Maybe if we can agree on a few more ground rules maybe more videos could just be rejected in the first place.

Or could videos be put into a crowner system per page before going up, similar to Image Pickin threads so it's slightly less work for the mods to personally enforce?

Just trying to think of ways the clean up could be preemptive instead of reactive. And for reactive fixes will anything ever be done. there are so many awkward cuts, blatant spoilers, and just dumps of scenes from single episodes or movies that feel like shoehorns or lack proper context.

Agreed. Some (most?) of the videos are of really poor quality. I particularly dislike ones that only discuss the trope for a minute or two, but shows nothing of it, or just a few seconds at the end. Is there any active cleanup project going on, by the way? It would be good if videos could be discussed on the forums, and if there is a decision to remove them, the mods can then just delete them.

By the way, about spoilers: the upload dialog has a check box titled "Contains spoilers". One thing is that it's really difficult to check (clicking on it with the mouse doesn't work, it can only be checked if I tab on it then press space). The other thing is that I don't see any difference if it's checked. There are no warnings or anything, and autoplay starts the same.
