edited to add this information, since this is going to be a long clean-up
"Donald Trump, as with any other current political figure, should not be a subject of any trope example on the wiki, except:
- When the work in question specifically mentions the RL individual.
- When the entirety of the example has to do with the portrayal of that individual in the work.
- When the work is fictional.
All three of these must apply.
Alternatively:
- When the RL individual has a creative role themselves, such as writing or acting in a work. In this sense we give them no more nor less treatment then we would any other creator.
Additionally, please make sure to take out any examples of "Funny Aneurysm" Moment, Harsher in Hindsight, or Hilarious in Hindsight regarding these political figures. A political event that may be seen positively by some people may be seen negatively by others.
We're starting with the wicks to Donald Trump (There were 751 of them at the starting point of this count.)
Wicks have already been checked and cleared up to

Given the current political climate, talking about Donald Trump on this Wiki is a very sensitive topic and pretty much any comment on him could easily end up violating the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment. I talked it over on Ask a Troper and a moderator gave me permission to start this topic. I feel it will be necessary to make sure any mention of him is safe and avoids politically charged or biased opinions. Right now, we need to stick to facts, not opinions.

From Kingsman: The Secret Service.
- Misaimed Fandom: In 2019, a Donald Trump supporter superimposed Trump's face on Harry's in the church massacre scene. The churchgoers were edited to represent news publications. In October of 2019, this edit was shown at a Mar-a-Lago event that featured Trump Jr. and Sarah Sanders as speakers. While apparently intended to show Trump as a badass, in the actual movie, Harry was Brainwashed and Crazy in the scene and is traumatized by the aftermath, before he is executed.
Yeah or nay?
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Delete that.
The mentions of the Mar-a-Lago event might be a bit unnecessary, but I think it's a decent example otherwise. It's not about how idolizing Trump is a bad thing, it's about a fan misappropriating a scene for the wrong context. If it photoshopped Biden's or Obama's or anybody else's face over the guy in a positive context, it would still be a valid example.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.UsefulNotes.Black Lives Matter Movement just had a whole section added to it that berates Trump's response to the pandemic and the movement. It's been tweaked from its original heavily anti-Trump tone, but is it still too inflammatory?

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Honestly, edits like these are one major reason why I don't like the proliferation of contemporary politics Useful Notes pages: They tend to draw heavily political edits.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanUnfortunately, we do need to cover those topics if they're relevant to fiction or a particular trope, and this one has the required list of references in fiction. The page should be locked and cleaned.

I'm back!As the launcher and mewtron's fellow worrier about edits to this page, I've been meaning to bring up those edits but I wasn't sure where.
Pinging ~patriciovalencia117, who unilaterally expanded the page, to this discussion. As much as I agree that orange man mishandled the pandemic and demonized the protests on a personal level, the original state of the page was consciously written with a focus on neutrality and fictional portrayals in mind.

patriciovalencia117 continues to edit Black Lives Matter Movement, and I honestly can't tell if their intent is to make the section more or less neutral. I do think this is worth noting, but we really should get a solid idea of how to talk about it.
Actually, looking at their history, many of their edits are political in nature, and they have a constant serial tweaking issue (in that they keep rewriting the same example over and over) that makes it difficult to keep track of such edits. Many of the edits might not be ROCEJ-violating, but it's just something to keep an eye on.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Should Quotes.Sleazy Politician have quotes about specific real life figures? The trope is NRLEP for controversy, after all.
Your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.No, it shouldn't.
From I Meant to Do That
- Donald Trump has one of two tactics to choose from to save face after he's done or said something dumb: Either deny he did/said it despite actual video and audio evidence, or this trope. A perfect example of the latter is a tweet reading "Despite the constant negative press covfefe", which was so nonsensical it immediately went memetic, especially the nonsense word it ended in. After deleting the tweet, he attempted to save face by challenging followers to guess the meaning of the Perfectly Cromulent Word he'd accidentally coined and apparently compelling then-press secretary Sean Spicer to imply it was some sort of codeword or in-joke if challenged on it.
What do
Well, the first two sentences should definitely go, as they're general. But if we do allow Real Life examples (which seems like a recipe for controversy, TBH) I guess it could count.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Found this on YMMV.The Stand:
- Memetic Mutation: Many fans took to calling the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic "Captain Trumps" after the book's Captain Tripps. King, never a fan of Trump, gave his full approval. (Though he did also firmly remind people that for all the misery it's caused, COVID-19 is still not nearly as bad as Captain Tripps.)
Doesn't look kosher to me.
I really do wish the BLM page was locked per my suggestion.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! The only really iffy thing to happen so far on UsefulNotes.Black Lives Matter Movement is patriciovalencia117 constantly tweaking the section about Trump, which makes it hard to keep track of ROCEJ-violating material. Did they ever get to discuss those edits with anybody else?

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. From Doctor Who 2021 NYS "Revolution of the Daleks".
Yeah or nay?
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Jack Robertson's being arguably an even bigger Karma Houdini than last time and about to run for President feels very much like Chris Chibnall was betting on Donald Trump winning reelection and setting up Robertson to be an even more direct analogue for him in future seasons. As it turned out, by the time the episode aired Trump had not only lost the election but was staring down the barrel of numerous civil and criminal charges.
The latter half of it seems iffy.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. All of it seems iffy. Hindsight examples about Trump rarely work, and if it was released in 2021 then it's probably not really Hindsight.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Plus we're dealing with an American character in a British show. (A character repeatedly established as anti-Trump, at that.)
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.I brought this up two months ago, but Trump appears on Rookie Red Ranger. Given the events of this week, I feel even more strongly that it desperately needs a rewrite or cut to account for the disastrous end of Trump's term. Thoughts?
- It is becoming increasingly common in the US and similar countries for major political parties to nominate younger and/or less experienced members to major leadership positions, Donald Trump and Barack Obama being major examples. This is mostly due to the fact that more junior politicians and outsiders are unlikely to have been involved in any major party scandals and won't be seen as "tainted" by the voting public.
I mean...is the example inaccurate? It's not even that inflamatory. It's pretty neutral.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThis was under FAM for Whose Line Is It Anyway?
- One game asked the cast to give examples of 'The world's worst person to be leader of the world in a crisis.' It's hard to watch the game now without thinking of Donald Trump's mishandling of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.
Unless they actually mentioned Trump in the show, it is just a shoehorn, and should be deleted.
It wasn't inaccurate, or a ROCEJ violation, when it was written. But I'd say it needs at least some update since Trump's been an object lesson in why you don't put the noob in a position of power; and I want to make sure that any changes remain ROCEJ-friendly. The sentence regarding "outsiders are unlikely to have been involved in any major party scandals" in particular has become tone-deaf in my opinion since Trump just caused one of the worst scandals in recent memory by trying to instigate a coup.
