There are only 24 wicks remaining, but I will need input on these odd examples:
-
JustForFun.Backstroke Of The West, under Foreshadowing: Allah Gold asks the Ratio Tile "Is you make the ghost?" while on the Space General's airship. While the Ratio denies this, it could be foreshadowing Obi-Wan's eventual becoming into a Force ghost in the canon films. Alternatively, it could be a reference to that ship used by a crew of resistance fighters he would later hunt down as Reaches. It ''did'' include a few Hopeless Situations, after all. Though Ratio was not among them. (This would've truly been an example of this trope if this had been the case. This translation was made years before Rebels.) -
Literature.Baudolino: Many of the more outlandish elements of Baudolino's letter turned out to be true. If Baudolino was telling the truth in the first place. -
Funny.Botchamania, potholed: Caption: We watched a music video set to Disturbed.JR: ...that I truly believe can become a global cultural icon. -
Trivia.Bryan Danielson: His reason for not calling his finisher the Le Bell Lock: "Who did Gene Le Bell ever beat anyway?" As a pro wrestler, no one really. While Le Bell is one of the toughest men alive and revered as a martial artist and as a trainer, he was a preliminary worker during his pro wrestling career. -
Digital Piracy Is Evil: Teen Titans had an episode where Beast Boy illegally downloaded a game and it gave Cyborg a virus since he did it on Cyborg's power charger which he mistook for a computer. It had Cyborg seeing food-based hallucinations. It was one of the more realistic examples (aside from the question of how a power charger could play a game and store a virus in the first place, much less transfer that data to Cyborg rather than just charge his batteries). He downloaded a supposed prerelease of a very popular and anticipated game. Those sorts of things would be prime targets for viruses. Then again, what do you use nowadays to charge your cellphone? -
Recap.Film Reroll Jaws, under Death by Adaptation: Hooper is killed by Jaws while in his diving cage. Incidentally, this is actually closer to his fate in the book.Is this correct usage? -
Recap.Film Reroll Labyrinth, under Just in Time: Sarah manages to say the words which stops Jareth right at the last second. Paulo points out how eerily close to the movie this is.This one appears to break the fourth wall, or at least is meta, so I'm confused. -
Trivia.Ive Got A Secret: This clip features a couple whose secret was that their son had just become an astronaut. Garry Moore asks them at one point how they'd feel if he became the first man on the moon. Their son's name? Neil Armstrong. This one seems like a stretch. I'd say it's misuse. -
Trivia.Moonflowers, potholed: The title is one letter off from an actual Japanese folktale called "Moonflower," which is amusing since the author discovered it months into her own story's progress.Sounds like just a fun fact, so I'd say it's misuse. -
Trivia. My Immortal: "nd den hairy wil have 2 [[spoiler:kommit suicide so voldimort will die koz he will rilly be a horcrox!!!!!111"It may be Accidentally-Correct Writing if by the time this came out ‘’the Deathly Hallows’’ wasn’t out yet. But whoever added this entry admits this is The Cloud Cuckoo Lander Was Right... I don’t know what applies when a crazy character of one work predicts a plot point of another work that’s considered a Show Within a Show. -
Funny.Power Rangers Guardians Of Gaia: It's worth noting that the original idea for Madilyn's personality was a mixture of Haruhi Suzumiya and Pinkie Pie, so the voice chosen for the character isn't all that far off, and almost made J.A. Phillips wet himself. -
Sdrawkcab Name: Cleve Cartmill wrote a short story called "Deadline" that described how to build a uranium-fission bomb; it was published in the March 1944 issue of Astounding Science Fiction. The warring factions on the alien planet were the Seilla (including Aissu), and the Sixa (including Ynamre).[1] -
Trivia.Smosh: In their Death Note parody episode, they introduce an item called the Life Note which can bring people back to life rather than kill them. This was actually featured in earlier drafts of the manga, as an eraser that would bring the Death Note's victims back to life if their names were erased, but was later written out. -
Trivia.South Park S 3 E 6 Sexual Harassment Panda: It's been found that there really is a panda like the one in the episode, and it goes by the name P.A.N.D.A.Isn’t this just Hilarious in Hindsight? -
Super-Persistent Predator: Metroid Fusion has the SA-X, Samus' Power Suit taken over by an X-parasite which chases you through the entire game with no way to stop it. (The SA-X is fairly easy to fool, though, not being able to find Samus should she slip out of immediate view.) On the other hand, since Metroids eat X-parasites, Samus effectively plays the role of Super Persistent Predator in the game itself. Although technically Samus is also a Metroid in this game, and only this one. And the SA-X has some of Samus's insticts, such as eliminating all Metroids. - Funny.Tales From Dimwood Forest is a ghost wick.
-
YMMV.The Fiveish Doctors Reboot, under Hilarious in Hindsight: Either Paul McGann shot this when he knew he'd done the minisode "The Night of the Doctor" or he shot this before they asked him back. Paul being officially tied into the 50th anniversary when the trio wasn't is still funny. It also adds increased subtext to the scene where the three ex-Doctors are protesting outside of BBC Television Centre and Baker informs McCoy that McGann is tied up with filming commitments — the implication now being that he's filming his minisode for the 50th anniversary. From what he's said in an interview, apparently he knew about the minisode at the time, but he didn't tell any of the other former Doctors about it. So it's a sort of genuine, inadvertent example of dramatic irony that the other Doctors don't know what Paul was busy with.I don’t understand any of this, but sounds like misuse... -
Funny. The Winx Club Loops: Nabu ends up getting a Stand, but there's a few complications, namely, he can't control it. He also named it Magic. Interestingly enough, that's actually a song name by Patrick Juvet. What’s the joke here? I can’t tell whether it’s correct use or misuse. - Tims Chemistry Exam is a ghost wick.
-
Trivia.Todd In The Shadows: Semi-example. During his "Blurred Lines" review, Todd states that the song samples "Got to Give it Up". About a year and a half later, Robin Thicke and Pharrell would be indicted on plagarizing "Got to Give it Up".I actually deleted this example as I thought it was misuse; simply saying there was plagiarism does not mean he accidentally nailed it; I thought he intentionally did it. But then I read the main work page and seems like he’s prone to sarcasm, so perhaps he ‘’was’’ joking about plagiarism. In such a case, it would be Joke and Receive. -
Funny. Two Best Friends Play Lets Play 2016, potholed: A somewhat meta one regarding Matt's continued pushing to have Pat level up Luck and Lucky Ted in general. The preferred speedrunning build for Dark Souls III is based around applying a bleed effect to Anri's Straight Sword. Anri's Straight Sword scales with luck and bleed's chances of occurring also increase with luck.Is it The Cuckoolander Was Right? -
Unusual User Interface, potholed: Angry Video Game Nerd (quoting The Wizard): I love the Powerglove. It's so bad. There is little to no context, so I have no idea what this is. -
Trivia.Whose Line Is It Anyway: In-Universe. The Newsflash using clips from Basket Case included the part with Belial doing a Groin Attack, leading to Jeff and Ryan misleading Colin into thinking it was "a giant monster with a big penis." In the actual movie, Belial is responsible for a rape scene, of which a snippet makes it into the Newsflash. -
Funny. You Tube Poop Authors M To Z, potholed: So, I'm a Nazi! (SCREAMS) "I should kill myself! Fuck my ass! I would fuck you! (moaning)"So... Is this, like, Hitler? Because he killed himself and she said she was a... But the second sentence was said by another character... I don’t know.

Put them on the discussion pages, as written none appears to be correct.

If no more opinions are collected, I will put the primary examples on the discussion pages and will remove the potholes. Already did some.

There are only 2 ghost wicks left. If someone can take care of them, this thread can probably be closed.
