Free Idea Dumping Ground

Had three sort-of nightmares last night. None were particularly disturbing to my ability to sleep well and the one that actually involved myself was more annoying than scary (three "fake wake-ups" in a row). One of the others actually seemed like a decent seed for a short horror story though:

Ms. Forscythe — a possession type horror. Whoever has sex with Ms. Forscythe become Ms. Forscythe. 'Compelled to dye hair black' was a detail from the nightmare. (The exact line IIRC was from the beginning where the guy was like 'Ms. Forscythe, I heard you like to dye your hair a weird shade of black.' (I have no idea what a "weird" shade of black is supposed to be.) The transformation was otherwise supernatural and automatic but gradual rather than all-at-once (like in 'The Santa Clause') but couldn't remember if the person it happened to was just going along with it like nothing strange was happening or if they were freaking out (like Tim Allen in 'The Santa Clause').

In the nightmare, once the next person turned, the Ms. Forscythe that spread it to them went back to normal (with or without memories of being Ms. Forscythe) like a no/low-stakes version of 'It Follows' I guess. Also, a 'ghostly visage' of Ms. Forscythe would occasionally appear behind the 'possessed' person which the audience could see (which is why I labelled it 'possession' horror). So maybe Ms. Forscythe is her own separate entity that likes to body-hop. Can either keep that detail or turn it into an assimilation plot (where the new Ms. Forscythe goes to a new town). May need to be written with care.

No, this works. It could be a ghost who wants to do _____ that they couldn't do when alive. OR an alien entity a la "The Hidden" that is on a mission to Earth but doesn't quite get Humans.

A funny cutaway gag:

Alice says that giving Bob a task is like asking a cat to change a tire, funny but the job won't get done.

Que a cat doing that to Bob's car.

Cut back to Alice telling her friend she'll do it herself.

Brick Joke - a latter scene has Bob going over an invoice saying "All this money for a flat? It's too much." The cat growls at him. "Okay I'll pay." he says.

Recently I had the idea of Anne-Marie and Lynessa's son Julian getting a girlfriend. :) I'm pondering about whether to make her an angel, a high elf, or a dark elf. I also feel rather tempted to make her a tsundere. ^_^;;

So one time, I had a dream that everybody was addicted to this G-Rated Drug and it was this creamy white goop that temporarily made one's voice deeper when ingested and people would become Drunk with Power more often than not because of this. It's so unbelievably weird that I can't see this happening in any story but a science fiction comedy.

Something similar happened in The Stuff, actually. Except instead of making their voices deeper, the white goop parasitized them and consumed them from the inside.

Work today may have been super-exhausting, but I did have an interesting story/setting idea today. I thought of bumping the Empire of the Southern Cross's pantheon up from 11 to 12. I thought of including a deity based on the lost gas giant that used to be between Saturn and Uranus.

A Hanahaki Disease story, but the main character has alexithymia and the tension comes from them trying to figure out who their crush is on.

A college professor has two students in his class who are always arguing - a police officer and a young "social justice warrior".

He dreads another day of classes when those same two students approach him - but these people are older, much older versions of his students...

...turns out they are time travelers from 20 years in the future.

They have come to warn him about a future President Evil and have come to stop the Bad Future.

The President Evil is the professors son who is currently finishing his grad school and the two character working to together want to stop the bad future and they fear that the son may have a version of Hitler's Time Travel Exemption Act.

Clever, but why tell him?

A Dystopian Superheroes story: Superpowered heroes and villains battle for supremacy in the streets as entertainment and to deter crime. But, when a plucky upstart wants to become a superhero, they discover that people don't just get superpowers — powers are bestowed upon people by The Man. And now our protagonist has stumbled upon a whole Conspiracy that keeps the city acting like one big organism.

I've wanted to do this idea for YEARS but I just can't crack the story. Doesn't help that it's too similar in concept for a different movie that I'm already doing. Maybe one of you will have better luck than me.

If you can't change the future, then what is the point of going into the past?

That's the point. Either they can change the future, they discover that history is immutable or they find that You Already Changed the Past. They discover that their actions caused the Bad Future.

It's all in how the story unfolds.

A horror, mystery, psychological thriller that is a deconstruction of Dirty Harry films featuring a typical Clint Eastwood style character as the'monster'. The story can be about an individual who was wrongfully accused of a crime and the cop in question spend hundreds of man-hours tracking down the wrong criminal. It turns out that the cop knew that the suspect was innocent but just wanted to track down the real criminals using the suspect as bait. The story deconstructs the cop film tropes showing what would happen if you feature those tropes in reality. It can also deconstruct vigilante tropes with the cop character.

A fictional podcast style show in an urban-fantasy world where 3 or 4 characters in said world talk about random crap and throughout the podcast, the world is built up. For example, they talk about random inconveniences and then just bring up some fantastical stuff out on a whim like "Oh yeah, I got pranked by one of those wood nymphs again" or "I had to break up with Nyvia because her parents don't look to kindly to...... our kind". There is no story, no adventure. Just 3 or 4 people talking about their life.

Love it. I had an idea like that once too, but it was more like Welcome to Night Vale where things would happen during the broadcast. I like it just being a Slice of Life.

In a World… of fantasy and high adventure, Fuchsia is an adventuring Cat Girl who always has her ears open for rumors of treasure, tombs and abandoned artifacts from the precursors.

This puts her at odds with her sister Magenta, a paladin. She's committed to "bearing arms and dispensing justice" in the name of the Gods. She sees her sister Fuchsia as immature.

Their mother Rose loves her daughters but fears that talk of adventure or smiting the wicked is a bad influence to their little sister Ruby. She's caught Ruby playing with a crystal dagger Fuchsia left behind.

Rose wants to have a nice dinner before she takes her family to the fall festival.

But suddenly their absentee father Cassius shows up with an artifact. A strange metal box with writing from the precursors - the race call humans.

A horror/comedy where a frat party is hunted by a Slasher, but the building they're partying in is haunted.

Funny enough, one of the inspirations was binge-watching the Friday the 13th movies for Spooktober. But it's more the ghost wants everyone out of its house and the slasher is the only one purposely breaking its stuff and staining the carpets.

I am actually quite interested in the idea that 2 monsters are hunting the same group. Like a Freddy v Jason thing.

I usually post my story ideas elsewhere. Oh well, have some Ducktales (´17) ideas.

HDL&W in a 'Most dangerous game' scenario. (Personally I prefer the 'Naked fear' version, but most people seem to have an issue about ducks without clothes.)

Webby has been kidnapped. After having been missed for x days, she shows up in front of McDuck manor.

Webby's parents are, unbeknown to her, FOWL agents.

HDL&W lose their freedom in a poker game.

While out playing (or walking) HDL&W runs into some bullies who forces them to hand over their clothes. Can the kids get home without getting too embarrassed?

(I have a LOT more (Matter of fact, I have 72 DT '17 prompts at the moment.) but I don't want to clutter the thread.)

I’ve always had this idea of ghost support groups, who help each other finish their Unfinished Business so they can pass on.

When Michael, Kayla, and their sons go on their vacation to Arizona, I had the idea of them rushing back to their hotel before a dust storm arrives.

I had a thought about a KOTOR 3 that reconstructs the previous games without being too "spiteful" or too "critical".
