A children's story (maybe an animated movie pitch) inspired by Oh Frenchie and the fact that French Bulldogs are nicknamed "Frenchies". We have an American dog of some fancy breed that goes to France with her doctor owner during World War I as a rescue dog, and she falls in love with a French Bulldog who's the mascot of a regiment of Poilus on the front.

[up][up][up][up] I don't know if I've posted it here or just written it up and saved it, but for a long time, I've had an idea for a visual novel that was about what to do with a failing relationship: save it or dump them and go for someone else. There would be a good and a bad ending for each path:

  • Golden Ending is you fix it through teamwork and live Happily Ever After.
  • 2nd best is you end it on good terms and find someone just as good for you.
  • Normal bad endings are either:
    • Don't break up but don't fix it, just do the Masochism Tango forever.
    • Break up and either end up alone or with a love option who's an asshole.
    • Cheat with one of the other NPC's, driving a wedge between you.
  • Earn Your Bad Ending is you intentionally sabotage the relationship, then go out of your way to make the split as acrimonous as possible. You break your partner's things, call them Gendered Insults, send them harassing text messages, stalk them, threaten them, and end up drunk and alone in a Trash of the Titans apartment.

A fantasy series where a peasant born girl believes she’s the eldest born princess of the kingdom because it had been said that the eldest born of the king and queen had been thrown into a river by a evil minister and because she resembles them, so she decides to become a warrior and fight again The Dragon because the Big Bad had been missing for several years. Meanwhile, the supposedly Big Bad’s son tries to kill her Because Destiny Says So. The other main villain is the Bitch in Sheep's Clothing second born princess that tries to kill her because if she’s actually her sister she will inherit the throne.

Eventually it’s revealed that the girl’s parent are actually her parents and her dad is the amnesiatic Big Bad and the Big Bad’s son is actually the thrown into the river prince.

A Shell-Shocked Veteran dances to cope with PTSD. Dance contests, making Youtube vidoes etc.

For a supernatural bent - the character is visited by the ghosts of those who didn't make it home and dancing is a way to make peace with the ghosts.

Conbini Angels Part time staff at a Japanese Combini (7-11, Lawsons, Family Mart), who have to protect the world from Eldritch Abominations masquerading as Japanese Mascots.

The idea strikes me as delightfully silly, but I just can't really think of anything story wise that's lighthearted enough to match the tone.

The son of the Evil Counterpart villain of a hero, who had secretly given up his hatred of the hero and married a woman, discovers his heritage after accidentally breaking the Power Nullifier.

Now he tries to keep living a normal life, with his Secret-Keeper the hero’s daughter.

Unfortunately, this is still a superhero town, so that means that he needs to cope with supervillains, his father suspecting him of knowing, and the hero family suspecting him of having powers.

A postmodernist, coming of age story for a thirtysomehting man where he learns to grow in a 21st century world. The story is not sitcom, it is int he style Mushihi and Monogatari however.

Inspired by this Reddit post:

A school district in a town with harsh winters gets a new superintendent. This person is abusive, a bully and cuts corners.

Their attempt to force the buses to run on a snowy day gets a child injured.

That child was the favorite of The Don and he is pissed.

Now the superintendent finds themselves powerless as The Don makes their life hell. He has a legal shark who can take the school to court or his "friends" who can do horrible, horrible, things to the super.

Their only hope now is with the staff of the school they abused....

Keeping it simple:

Mini spaceship crashes in Chinese town, alien baby inside. Twist: Only humanoid in size and shape, adopted parents are a demon and a human. Living life with half-demon sibling and dealing with both Masquerades.

Bonus information: Shapeshifting can be teached.

a superficially cute story but when you delve into the main character's past it turns into a story of failing at everything they tried to achieve and becoming everything that they hated.

A teenage girl discovers that her stern mother is an alien and her "clueless dad" was the NASA astronaut who contacted her.

Only, mom isn't the fun and peaceful contact alien - she's Judge Dredd in space!

Momma wants to teach her daughter how to be judge, jury and executioner and keep the peace among the stars.

The girl just wanted an ipad for Christmas.

She gets to team up with a bunch of other Earth kids who are also half alien and training to be space judges. And it turns our their high school principal is really her mom's boss, grooming a new team of space judges.

Guardians of the Galaxy, Saved by the Bell and Judge Dread put into a blender set on awesome!

Here's an idea:

A fantasy RPG where you play on a team: fighter, mage, tank, thief etc.

Only you are not the leader.

The leader is introduced but dies on the first mission due to the Big Bad and his chief enforcer.

You had to pick a character who wasn't the leader and thanks to the baddies, You Are in Command Now.

Your job is to prove to the other teammembers that you are up to the task of leading (assisted by the ghost of the former leader). You have to settle some grudges (e.g. the thief and the mage had a Noodle Incident), ease some fears (the fighter is afraid of the Big Bad and you have to urge them on), recruiting a new team member, along with the standard RPG tropes.

Can you guide your team to victory and avenger the fallen?

A world where 1 in 10 people have Semantic SuperPowers based on common phrases and proverbs. For example; "A penny save, a penny earned" would mean they can duplicate money.

A fictional religion / philosophy named "Binarism", where people believe that world is formed with two concepts: "Existence", where a concept, presence, object, or signal exists, denoted with "1"; And "Non-Existence", where a concept, presence, object or signal does not exist, denoted with "0". In other words, they interpret the world through binary numbers.

To the practitioners of Binarism, everything, from languages, objects to morality, is formed by numerous set patterns of "0" and "1". For example, the concept of the alphabet "A" is made of "01100001". But for organic lifeforms, it takes millions or even billions of numeric combinations of them to form a fully-functional rabbit, let along humans and morality. But to them, everything in the world is made of "0" and "1".

Depending on where they live in, it might be a truth for computer programs and the denizens living in a computer world...

I had watched a film called Girl in Progress where it deconstructs coming-of-age tale. I would like to see a similar story where it also deconstructs the coming-of-age story as well as many other tropes associated with it.

A 200 year old vampire who used to be rich but made some really bad financial decisions a few years back and is left with nothing.

They try to do the slow build up of wealth again, but are used the luxury and have poor impulse control so end up with a mismash of very expensive and very cheap things.

For some reason, I feel tempted to create a team of American-based villains whose super-patriotism is more off-putting than admirable, sort of in the style of DC Comics' Force of July.

I like to keep my audience riveted.

What if the Zombie Apocalypse worked like a real virus, like the one we're experiencing now?

It's possible to get bitten and only have mild symptoms: You lose 10 IQ points and spend the rest of your life craving raw meat, but you can control it.

It's also possible to save people from turning, or even possible for someone to turn but fight it off after some time, meaning there's much more moral conflict over whether it's right to shoot them.

The thing is, if it's just a real virus, then the people suffering from it are alive, and don't require a head shot to put them down. Any normally disabling wound would work fine. This implies that the virus doesn't spread nearly as much.

^ Well, in every single movie, game, and TV show that uses the Technically-Living Zombie trope, they opt to kill them. This would be a subversion of that.

I am inspired by this thread. How about a story that deconstructs the person who comes from the future and attempts to use his future knowledge to fix things? What would happen if an ordinary joe goes to something like the Middle Ages? How that person really react? What would be a major wake up for the main character in question? And how would they adapt to a new environment? I also would like to see a story deconstructs time travel tropes in these kinds of stories as well.

(comic book idea) when the POV is of a sane character, the environment is consistent. when said character is insane, well...
