This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

x12 (#11515): School Grade Hacking rec looks good!

OK, I think I might add it.
Two things I want to discuss.
- Bumping this post in case it was missed.
- The page quote for Sold His Soul for a Donut was changed unilaterally. Thoughts?
I think the new quote on Sold His Soul for a Donut works better.
new
The pessimist sees a dark tunnel, the optimist sees a light, the realist sees two lights and the engineer sees three idiots.(x4) I prefer the current for Sold His Soul for a Donut. I also like your suggestion.
I'm not a fan of the current quote on Weird West — it's kind of vague and doesn't really illustrate the trope very well. I think that either of these two from the trope's Quotes page would be a good replacement:
Fire burn and cowboy bootin'
Eye of newt and spicy beans,
Toe of frog and denim jeans,
Whiskey, grits, n' demon spittle
tossed into my iron griddle
With the tannin' of our hides,
Somethin' wicked this way rides
I agree with replacing it, though both of those are fairly long, and I'm surprised at what isn't on the quotes page:
Upon a ridge he rested, as he went along his way
When all at once, a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he saw -
Plowing through the ragged skies, and up the cloudy draw...
^I disagree that either of the two I suggested is particularly long, but I do also think that "Ghost Riders in the Sky" is also a good source for a page quote just on its own merits.
Vote for Ghost Riders in the Sky quote (though I agree that the other recommended quotes were not too long)
Ghost Riders
The pessimist sees a dark tunnel, the optimist sees a light, the realist sees two lights and the engineer sees three idiots.I don't think any of the recommended quotes are too long. Either way, the Ghost Riders in the Sky one has my vote.
The current quote for Refuse to Rescue the Disliked isn't clear on either the "refuse" part or the "dislike" part.
What about either this from the Quote page:
Jean-Pierre Polnareff: Oh, shut up. Did you forget about shooting my friend, Avdol? Now why in the hell should I save you? You're on your own pal!
Or this more succinct one from Batman Begins:
Given that opinion seems to be essentially in consensus, I've updated the quote on Weird West.
Back in July 2021, I Am Not Spock's quote:
...was deleted by Inky 100 with the edit reason:
IMO an invalid deletion since page quotes are common.
Later, in January 2022, Anddrix added this quote:
My question is, since the first removal wasn't really valid (AFAIK there wasn't discussion), which quote is better/should be kept?

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI prefer the second one.
Even though the procedure was off, I think the second quote is better.
I'm not really a fan of the current quote in Monster.Call Of Duty. strikes me more as New Age Speech than complete monster.
Replace with the old one.->"This man Makarov is fighting his own war and he has no rules, no boundaries. He doesn't flinch at torture, human trafficking or genocide. He's not loyal to a flag or a country or any set of ideals. He trades blood for money."

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Uh, the old one you're suggesting is the quote that's still on the page
whoops. Uh. That's weird did it get changed recently.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Looks like it got changed back in June
I meant this part.
