This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Keep it on Africa Is a Country, replace the quote on The Theme Park Version.
Seconded.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Second Prize has an unsourced quote.

I suggest replacing it with the dialogue from the scene the page pic comes from:

Better. Current is also a joke that doesn't really get the trope across.
As a car enthusiast, I think I should point out that not one "d" in "Cadillac Eldorado" is capitalized.
x6 how about a literal Theme Park Version of Vietnam from South Park? It's the boys' book report presentation, which was told to them by Jimbo in a kid friendly way that they took literally.

CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsFrom this ATT regarding the current page quote for Kingdom Come: Deliverance:
Besides being a gushy review quote, a quote from the game itself would be a better fit for the page, and there are a couple to pick from. Two quotes from Henry, the protagonist, that describes his motivation for the game. The first one is said verbally and the second one is written in the quest log.
And another one from a major character, Sir Radzig.

I think for the right amount of detail and plot relevance, the second quote makes more sense to use for that page.
There's no place that you can hide/Something that's special~Delibirda brought up RainbowDoubleDash's Lunaverse in the copy/paste thread, and while there's no plagiarism problem with an attributed quote, it's still three paragraphs. Any suggestions for debigulating it?
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing. The last paragraph seems to best summarize the inciting incident of the AU.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Yeah, the last paragraph seems to sum it up well enough.
x5 that South Park quote seems good enough.
Edited by Orbiting on Jan 12th 2022 at 4:38:38 AM
The South Park one might be taking the trope too literally.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.re: Lunaverse quote, I think it could use some of the part before for context:
"Reluctantly, the younger sister harnessed the most powerful magic known to ponydom: the Elements of Harmony! Using the magic of the Elements of Harmony, she defeated her elder sister and banished her permanently into the heart of the sun. The younger sister took on responsibility for both sun and moon, and harmony has been maintained in Equestria for generations since."
x4: Also, I was trying to recognize the word "debigulating" for a few seconds there and then laughed out loud when I got it.
Supernatural Is Green’s quote has nothing to do with the trope other than the color green.
back lolAgreed it's bad. I'm not seeing a suitable replacement anywhere, but I'd prefer having no quote to that one.
Entertainingly Wrong has a note in the quote explaining it, which kinda defeats the purpose. It might work to just remove the note, but I feel like we can find a better replacement. Here's a Sunny quote referencing Star Wars, which might be universal enough:
Dennis: James Earl Jones has a black face! He is a black man!
Frank: No, he isn't! When he played Darth Vader and they took the mask off him, he was white!
Might be too close to Comically Missing the Point, though. Here's an OOTS one:
Ian: Oh, I see. [sotto voce, to Haley] Good work, Kitten. Always let the stuffed shirts think they're in charge. This way, you can subtly manipulate them into doing what you need without them realizing that you arranged it all from the shadows.
Haley: No, Dad—
Roy: And for that matter, we didn't come here to rescue you. We're here in this region on a totally unrelated mission. It's just sheer coincidence that we happened to get thrown in the same cell block as you.
Ian: [sotto voce, to Haley] Wow. You've gotten good at this.
Probably too long, though.
Reposting since I only had one response from it. I would like to suggest a quote change for Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse, from this:
To this:
Reasoning that BoJack is a washed-up actor who is toxic only to those associated with him, and though he tries to clean up his act he ultimately fails tragically. Bahato is an immortal who was Maddened Into Misanthropy because his family was killed by someone who thought was his friend. He is taking out his grief not on the one who killed his family, but on the entire world, and even when he's told outright that people have changed from back then he refuses to listen.
While I don't have an issue with the new quote, we don't assume people are familiar with the quote's context. The quotes are presented in isolation for a reason. The context of the work is irrelevant if the quote fits.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe current quote on Trauma Button is very weak. There's a bracketed sentence on the quote source explaining the context, and the actual quote is completely unillustrative otherwise. Any better suggestions or should I just pull it?
Stan: It's a dance-off, we heard you were tap-dancing state champion two years ago.
Butters: [terrified] No...
Stan: ... But you were, weren't you? You went to the nationals in Nebraska?
I never liked it due to how context dependent it is, but I guess it's not hurting the page. But surely there is a better replacement talking about triggers or something.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. Both quotes are totally interchangable to me without context and nothing you said convinced me that the new quote is better. But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, so I’m fine with keeping the old one.

I can think of some decent Trauma Button quotes, but they're all too spoilerific to suggest as a quote. I don't know if the best thing is to leave the current quote up or pull it, but it would be nice to find a better one.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.I'm surprised there are so few Trauma Button quotes. While I strongly dislike the current one, it's probably not quite terrible enough to be considered worse than nothing. Would this be better?
Gary: ...high school? [looks like he's having a war flashback]
Nate: Wow, you are broken.
The Cast Full of Gay quote requires just a little bit too much knowledge of in-joke to be good. Not terrible, but I think this one is better:
Ethan: I wish you'd stop shoving your lifestyle in our faces.
I think the problem with Trauma Button is that it can often be linked to a reveal or plot twist, which means there are some good quotes out there, but they'd be too spoilerific to use.
I think your suggestion is better. I'm not a massive fan of relying heavily on including descriptions, but it's common enough in page quotes (so it's just a me thing) and it does help to display the trope, at least a bit.
The Cast Full of Gay suggestion seems fine. I don't have a problem with the current quote, but I also don't know the work; so it sounds, from your post, like I'm missing something important about the quote that affects its usability as a trope quote. If that's the case, I'm happy to accept your feelings on the matter. I don't have any issues with the suggested replacement.
