This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

Yeah, I'd say trimming it is a good call.
The page quote on Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is a massive spoiler. Can I replace it with this one, which is from the start of the game?
- "As long as we have loyalty 'til the end there's no point in believing in anything, even in those we love. The only thing we can believe in, with absolute certainty is the mission, Jack."— The Boss
That looks good.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Does anyone has a replacement suggestions for the quote in Inhumanly Beautiful Race, or is it okay for me to just cut it?
There are a few quotes on the page, and one quote on the subpage. I don't have any strong opinions on which one to use.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I have a part of a song that I think would work well as the page quote for Rewriting Reality. I based this on the fact that it's source is a game which revolves around the trope. Thoughts on it's potential?
- There's an old tale wrought with mystery, of Tom the Poet and his muse
And a magic lake which gave a life to the words the poet used...— Old Gods Of Asgard, "The Poet And The Muse", Alan Wake

The Rosers were red. The Drownies are blue. I know What the Thunder Said. Do you?Of all the quotes listed, I think the one in the subpage is the best, but it seems to be talking about one person only, instead of describing the entire race.
Baby Talk and Precious Puppy have the same quote.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. The quote for A Nazi by Any Other Name was added by frequent ban-evader Johnnyfog. Is there any quote from the quotes page that would make a better quote, that I could substitute it with.
The "Turn Left" example is great. Only takes a single line and shows how this trope can be subtle, not just Anvilicious.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Has been added, with its pothole cut.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.It looks like the Precious Puppy example was changed without consultation back in 2016. The original quote was this:
I don't like either the current or previous quote for Precious Puppy. Indeed, the RWBY example is inappropriate because the dog in question isn't even a puppy. It's an adult corgi. I'd therefore suggest keeping the quote for the Baby Talk page and finding a more appropriate one for the Precious Puppy page.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Does "Happiness is a warm puppy" from Peanuts work for Precious Puppy? I'm a bit worried since the trope is about gratuitous use of puppies, and I'm not sure that quote gets the trope across the way the Okamiden quote does.
The quote in Open Mouth, Insert Foot does little besides stating the trope name and needs to be replaced. From the subpage, I liked the Doctor Who one best, but it's a little too long. Thoughts?
I have no opinions on Precious Puppies, but for Open Mouth, Insert Foot I'll counter-suggest this quote (because it manages something similar in fewer words):
Is it just me, or does the page quote for Invaded States of America not actually say anything about the trope?
Okamiden itself isn't an example of Precious Puppy, but the magazine review line gets the trope across better than the RWBY line (and isn't duplicated anywhere).
Yeah, I'm not seeing it, either.

I'm sure it's an example, within context, but we don't want to depend on that. Can we take the G. I. Joe quote from the subpage?
The quote for Fate/Grand Order is so long it wraps around the page image. Trimming it to just everything after "My true name is Jeanne d'Arc" should suffice.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขFrom the Mouths of Babes, according to the trope description, is about child characters who demonstrates an unchildlike understanding of "adult" things, especially sexual things. The page quotes imply that it's just "child swears."
Motion to delete the quote.
The page quote for He Also Did was added by frequent ban-evader Johnnyfog. Is there any quote from the quotes page that would make a better quote, that I could substitute it with.
Also John from Cincinnati has a kinda-complainy critic quote as it's page quote, should it be removed?
Maybe we could agree that you delete it and then I readd it? I'm not a ban evader, and it's easier in the short term.
I don't know if this has been discussed here before, but I noticed Continuity Lock-Out and Continuity Nod have the same page quote. I'm aware the wiki is trying to avoid duplicate images, so I'm assuming the situation is similar with quotes on the main trope page.
My own two cents on this is that I find the quote works best for Continuity Lock-Out and that the quote from The Simpsons on the Continuity Nod quote page could make an okay replacement quote.

We do try to avoid duplicate quotes, so, good catch. I think the quote works far better for Continuity Lockout than Continuity Nod. I found this one on the quotes subpage for Continuity Nod that I think works pretty good:
I guess the JonTron quote works just as well. Personally, I'd rather avoid anything JonTron-related. Is it that big a deal that the quote was added by a ban-evader? It's a good quote, though maybe I'd cut the last line since it's a little complainy.
I'd remove the John from Cincinnati quote. Aside from being complainy, quotes for work pages shouldn't be from reviewers, in my opinion.
The page quote for Annihilation (2018) isn't a huge spoiler, it doesn't really make any sense without knowing the context, but it is a spoiler nonetheless. Would anyone mind if I replace it with the film's tagline (which is currently the image caption, which I would cut)?

I've brought this up several times before in this thread, but never got any response. So I'm bringing it up again, and hopefully we can settle this:
The Chain of Harm and Troubled Abuser have duplicate quotes, and I think it fits the former better, but I don't know what would be a good replacement to the one in Troubled Abuser since most of the alternatives in the quotes subpage seem to fit The Chain of Harm better as well.

Leisure Suit Larry 3: Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals has an absurdly long one. It can be shortened to just the last paragraph.
