Platonic ships are very much valid, yes.
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*It took years for me to be comfortable with shipping in any form. I think this is because I discovered the concept around the same time that Five Nights at Freddy's 2 came out and people were shipping the animatronics and getting absurdly defensive about what they thought Mangle's gender was. I was weirded out that people would portray the robots as being in love with each other and bemused by how violent they could get over a fox. Result: I somehow arrived at the conclusion of "all shipping bad" for a while.
People beginning to ship alternate universe versions of Sans with each other the next year likely didn't help when it came to the development of "Vandagyre's opinions on shipping".
I've gotten more relaxed about it in the past few years, but the above points still weird me out.

"My job here is done." "But you didn't do anything."That's honestly quite cute! My favorite princess crossover ship is Moana x Ariel though. Never got super duper into it but I can totally see how it'd work.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I got three invisible replies and an invisible quote tweet over this, but I think it's relevant since The Green Scorpion is currently doing RD: my favourite ships for the Tellius duology are Ike/Soren and Elincia/Geoffrey. I'm also rather fond of Reyson/Tibarn, and Naesala/Leanne is a given considering, well, they're canon.
FC: SW-1445-0294-1719/PSN: TekkenGirl4Lyfe/Currently playing: Fate/Samurai RemnantThis thread is making me want to dig out my old desktop just so I can share a shipping grid I made back in college.
Currently on another ShadAmy (Shadow x Amy) kick. There's just something cute about "grump and sunshine" pairings. At the end of the day, I like non-canon pairings precisely because they're non-canon. Reading shipping fics that are ultimately just doing what the source material is going to do anyway is a bit boring on some level. Now taking two characters that canon has little-to-no interest in making a real romantic pairing? Now you've got my attention. Convince me how well these two would work, fanwork person. Convert me into a believer.
Honestly I think that's a cute pair. It reminds me of Catherine x Shamir. I like the juxtaposition of light and dark. Open and closed off. But I do wonder about the chemistry they would have.
Some call it stalking, I say walking just extremely close behindMy biggest ship at the moment is Eisenbright (Olberic Eisenberg x Cyrus Albright) from Octopath Traveler.
There is so much to love about them.
They are both mature, level-headed, and are generally supportive to each other and the rest of their traveling group. They compliment each other's strengths in battle (sword and magic respectively) and they are each teachers of a sort, working hard to raise the next generation to be strong and responsible. They fight together for a better future against antagonists who are willing to hurt others for their own gain.
But when they're off the battlefield they can be quite laid back, and sometimes even jovial in each other's company.
I love everything about them. While the game could've given us more interactions I got a pretty solid foundation to write fanfic from.
The fic and art that is out there does not disappoint, either.
Even when your hope is gone, move along, move along just to make it throughDo y'all ever have like... one ship that you use as a litmus test to judge all other ships against? And if another ship reminds you of that ship dynamic, then it's kind of guaranteed to pique your attention? Like, that's how I define OTP for myself.
For me those are Jessie x James and Fry x Leela.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Closest thing to that would be me being more likely to like a ship if I like the Rule 34.
It worked for RedPastry.
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*As an outsider, I would furrow my brow at the idea of cookie porn, but I've had far more obscure tastes.
My OTP was a ship between The Nostalgia Critic sketch characters for a long time as a teenager. So like, glass windows.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.C.J. and Flick have plenty of Ho Yay between them (Nintendo referring to them as "partners", anyone?). I think they are cute together, and it's the only time I was legitimately upset that my ship wasn't canon. But of course, Nintendo would never do something like that.

I'd like to apologize for all this.Flick is the only AC character I really care about so I am 100% on the CJ x Flick train.
And not to be that guy, but look at Flick's outfit and his dramatic vibe. He's giving off epic queer goth vibes.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Oh yeah, CJ x Flick OTP 100%. I don't care what Nintendo says. Oh! And another one from the Tellius Fire Emblem games: Mist/Boyd.

New theme music also a boxI really like the idea of Shamir x Catherine and Petra x Dorothea, but at the same time I simp for all four of them so I kinda want them with me instead...
Some call it stalking, I say walking just extremely close behindFor a sec, I thought you were referring to the Show That Doesn’t Exist thread characters.

FC: SW-1445-0294-1719/PSN: TekkenGirl4Lyfe/Currently playing: Fate/Samurai RemnantI mean.... now that I think about it...?
I can't help it if they all have the best chemistry
Some call it stalking, I say walking just extremely close behindMy personal odd ship: Bowser x Asgore. Both are burly, badass and morally gray kings who had their heart broken before (though to be fair, they both had it coming).
I'd like to apologize for all this. The way Gabriel goes from screaming at V1 to actually enjoying their battle really gets at me...
The buildup to the fight is oddly laced with sexual tension, but a couple of lines that struck out to me were:
- "Show me what you were made for! (laughs)"
- "Come on, machine! Fight me like an animal!"
- "Come get some blood! (laughs)"
- "Twice, beaten by an object, twice... I've only known the taste of victory. But this taste... i-is this my blood? H-haha... I've never known such... such relief? I... I need some time to think. We will meet again, machine. May your woes be many... (huff) and your days few."

Back on Three Houses, I think Lysithea/Linhardt is kind of an underrated ship. Idk I just think my little nuke deserves a happy ending.
FC: SW-1445-0294-1719/PSN: TekkenGirl4Lyfe/Currently playing: Fate/Samurai RemnantSpeaking of which, Hilda x Marianne is peak, and I refuse to no for an answer
