There will be wolf- and fox-themed cures
Wolves and foxes are canines, so there should be cures themed after wolves and foxes to fit in the season's dog theme.
  • Jossed; Cure Nyammy is a cat, and the theme overall focuses on the bonds between pets of all kinds in general and their owners as opposed to focusing on canines.

The villains
The villains could be:

The fairies will be based on a Kitsune and a Tanuki
They are both canids and would allow for the Tanuki/Kitsune Contrast trope to play between them.

If there is a mid-season Cure
  • Based on the colours of the logo, she could be white, yellow, or orange. Judging by the symbols on the Cures' pacts, yellow is most likely.
  • After how popular Cure Wing was with audiences, there's a chance the mid-season Cure could be a boy.
    • We can't expect a boy cure all the time.
    • If it is, the mid-season pair could possibly be Satoru and Daifuku.
  • They will be a pair: a tomboy and an actual boy.
  • They will be an ascended Victim of the Week, who was previously possessed by the Garugaru.
  • They will be a kangaroo-themed pair: an older Australian and a pet joey. They can also summon Australian wild life (such as a handful of colorful spiders) to scare off Garugaru.
  • Of the set of pair, only one of them is recognized as a cure.
  • Nyammy and especially Lillian will debut where mid-season Cures normally do, to promote their own toys.
  • She, the sole cure, will be Niko, who is a unicorn.
  • She will be a red cure, completing seven colors of the rainbow.
  • One of them will be Iroha's classmate. A loner who likes to laze around and frequently dozes off.
  • Before the official mid-season Cure, there will be another pair that debuts, with one of them being yellow like Cure Sunshine and Cure Honey.

If the mid-season Cure starts as a villain, she will be a lower rank member rather than a general
All the villain-turned-cures so far have been generals (Cure Passion, Beat, Finale) and sometimes even higher positions (Scarlet). This troper thinks it would be more creative if seasons make future villains who become cures (and villains who redeem in general), to be lower-ranked underlings below generals instead. If this season's midseason cure starts off as a villain, perhaps she should be a low ranked member of the villain organization who while attacks the cures like the generals, is clearly shown and told how unimportant and expendable she is and mistreated by them and the Big Bad. Eventually after one too many abuse from her superiors and the cures show her real compassion and consideration, she will turn against the organization and become cure herself (that is after refusing to join out of guilt for one two episodes).

Personalities of the Cures
  • Cure Wonderful will be a traditional Genki Girl pink lead, something that actually hasn't been seen since Cure Star. Her theme animal will be dogs.
  • Cure Friendy will be sort of shy at first, but as the series progresses, she will open up and become more "friendy".
  • Cure Nyammy:
    • Will be athletic, maybe a ballerina like Cure Mermaid, or a gymnast. Her theme animal will be cats.
    • Will have a trait comparable to a male lion; normal likes to laze around, but gets territorial and hostile towards enemies.
    • Will be an older-sister-like guardian who looks out for Lillian.
    • Will be slightly psychopathic towards the Gargarus, toying with them slowly before pulling out her finisher.
  • Cure Lillian will be into fashion, as her name sounds very similar to a type of sewing string. She will be a Defrosting Ice Queen, like Cure Macaron. Since she and Friendy wear similar hats, they could be fully human and not tied to any specific animal.

The Wonderful Precure are mostly, if not all, animal mascots
  • One of the mascots shown in a image of merchandise, including the pact is a brown dog with the same features as Cure Wonderful, and there has been no untransformed images release of the Wonderful Pretty Cure.
    • Semi-Confirmed. Each pair of Cures is a pet and their owner, with Wonderful and presumably Nyammy being the pets of Cure Friendy and Cure Lillian.

Satoru and Daifuku will become the mid-season Cure duo
It may be early days but there is some evidence to support this:
  • Satoru has the Japanese word ("To", an alternate reading of "Usagi") for 'rabbit' in his surname, much like how Iroha and Mayu have 'dog' and 'cat' in theirs, respectively that pertain to their pets/Cure partners.
  • Satoru and Daifuku are prominently shown in the teaser for the series alongside the other Cures.
  • Satoru winds up becoming a Secret-Keeper for Iroha and Komugi relatively early on, much like Ageha from the preceding season.
  • Two of the prominent colors in the logo besides the initial Cures' signature shades are yellow and orange, indicating that will be another pet-owner duo coming. And who else do we know wears orange? Satoru.
    • Alternatively, as Daifuku's theme colour seems to be silver/grey, Satoru and Daifuku may become gold and silver Cures (either obviously so, or stylized as orange and white). It would also fit the theme of the pet Cures having a similar theme color to their owners. (Komugi being pink while Iroha is purple and Yuki's blue theme going with Mayu's green motif.)
    • While Daifuku usually wears a blue ribbon, he sometimes wear a yellow shirt when out for a walk.
  • Like Komugi and Yuki, Daifuku has a non-standard design compared to most of the background animals.
    • Daifuku also has a spot on his back, although it's a circle and not heart-shaped.
  • Satoru becoming a Precure would also spare Mey Mey the trouble of answering to Niko for spilling the garden's secrets to outsiders.
  • Satoru and Daifuku are heavily featured in the season's Easter campaign, having their own card, acrylic stand, and pin set just like the Cures do. (Note that Easter merch is traditionally Cures-only.)
  • Toei released some new art for their Pretty Cure Stores, a group shot of every single main Cure that includes the initial four of Wonderful... and two conspicuously open spots up and across from Nyammy and Lillian (below Milky and Cosmo).

Yuki (or at least one of the pets that become a Precure) is male.
Tomcat in animal form, bishoujo in human and precure forms.

Some of the animals corrupted will include:
  • Abused pets
  • Terminally ill animals
  • Livestock
  • Zoo animals
  • Invasive species
  • Ants and/or other pests, for Zerg Rush monsters
  • Prey animals
  • Stray dogs
  • Already cooked meat (becoming zombie Garugaru)
  • Fossils of dinosaurs and other ancient animals

The Big Bad, or The Dragon, will be a possessed human.
The resultant Garugaru will then gain the power of intelligence to command other Garugarus efficiently.
  • Adding onto this, Niko, owner of the Niko Garden, will be one of the victims.

    Post-release
  • Bonus points if she comes back magically.
  • That would be reserved for this series' 10th anniversary sequel, after she dies from old age.

The generals' identity will be a mystery.
The cures will have a sub-quest to uncover who they really are.

The first 9-10 episodes will be the Cures restoring the GaruGaru via non-combative means.
  • It's unlikely that the series will go without some form of combat throughout it's entire run, so instead, only the first 10 will be the Cures taming the GaruGaru initially, but either the GaruGaru become too strong/hostile to cure via non-violent means; or the series will introduce the first main human villain who will be their opponent for the next 4-7 episodes.
  • Given that the setup seems very similar to A La Mode, which, too, focused on monsters/fairies being controlled until Julio appeared, and that A La Mode was infamous for non-melee combat, it seems this is the most likely case.

There will be a Character of the Day with fur allergy.
Not that the character in question dislikes animals, but there's a barrier in their interactions.

The Romantic Plot Tumor will be between Komugi and a human

Iroha and Mayu will turn into a dog and a cat respectively.
Komugi and Yuki’s owners will turn into animals that their pets will take care of while they’re humans in a role reversal episode. Alternatively, Komugi and Yuki will spend the majority of the episode in their animal forms playing with Iroha and Mayu after the latter two have been turned into a dog and a cat respectively.

The Garugaru will be used as shields and fodder by the villains.

There will be a Garugaru that's too strong for the cures to handle, so they have to learn a fighting technique from someone.

The main villain's name will be 'Garu' or 'Garou.'
  • The Niko animals all say 'Nikoniko,' and Niko is confirmed to be the garden's caretaker. Since Garugaru has the same type of repetition, there's a good chance that Niko's foil is whoever 'Garu' is. 'Garu' may also come from 'Garou,' which means werewolf, which could fit the animal theming of the series.
    • However, Garugaru is directly named by Komugi, so this is unlikely.

A corrupted Niko will be the main villain.
  • Niko was mentioned to have disappeared with several of the Niko animals, likely those who were corrupted into Garugaru. Either Niko purposefully corrupted the garden for reasons unknown, or Niko has also fallen under the influence of whatever attacked Niko Garden.
    • In the first case, they're another one in the recent pattern of Precure twist villains, and in the latter case, they'll be the main villain up until the heroes manage to defeat them and fight whatever originally corrupted Niko Garden to begin with.

There'll be animal abusers for the Precures to fight against

The Garugaru are guinea pigs.
The villains are testing the powers they're using on the animals to see how to safely use them at optimum.

Cure Friendy will have detective powers.
Since she's dressed like one. Maybe she does not have them at the start, but she could be equipped with a magic magnifying glass in the future.

Satoru and Daifuku will be a dichotomy of male supporting characters.
Satoru helps the precures up front with his knowledge, while Daifuku will secretly fight alongside them as a Mysterious Protector (like Black Pepper).

The Big Bad is named Garu.
Since the Niko Animals are shown to have Pokémon Speak in which they can only say "Niko", this must mean that the bad guy corrupting them is someone named "Garu".

Episodes 19 and 20 will be a Crisis Crossover.
Since they will be the franchise's 999th and 1000th episodes, there will naturally be a huge celebration similar to HuGtto! Pretty Cure episodes 36 and 37.

Interracting with Daifuku will be a baby step to Mayu socializing.
Daifuku's quiet nature would allow Mayu to talk to him normally first.

Yuki is originally a human who turned into a cat.
She is in an opposite situation from Komugi, where she was cursed.

She had a collar and therefore a former home when Iroha found her yet can't remember it, and she wears a crown-shaped headband as Cure Wonderful. Rather than an Earth dog, Komugi is the Niko Garden's princess sent away for safety when her land was invaded.
  • Additionally, Mayu says that she found Yuki out in the snow one day, and Yuki also wears a crown as Cure Nyammy. While we don't yet know how Satoru met Daifuku, chances are that the latter is another rescue. All three of them may have originally come from the Niko Garden—and were sent away before Mey Mey was brought in, as he doesn't recognize Komugi.

Daifuku is the mysterious villain ???
If you look closely at his hood the ears resemble rabbit ears. His speech patterns are similar to the way Komugi described how Daifuku spoke, which happened on the same episode the enemy debuted. They both have red eyes. Daifuku will fulfill the trope of enemy turned precure and will join the team after they return all the kirarin animals in a duo with Satoru.
  • Potential snag: Daifuku was with Satoru when we first saw ???; if something unusual happened, Satoru would've mentioned it.

Mayu becoming Cure Lilian will be what will get Cure Nyammy to ease up.
Cure Nyammy's viciousness in combat seems to be driven largely by the desire to protect Mayu. Once Mayu is able to defend herself, Nyammy will either undergo a genuine change of heart, or simply decide that beating Garugarus to a pulp is no longer necessary.
  • Alternatively, she will become more vicious out of worry that Lilian will hurt herself causing Nyammy to try to end battles even quicker, only to become calmer once Lilian shows that she really can deal with the Garugaru, especially once the two gain a Combination Attack allowing them to properly purify them like Wonderful and Friendy.

Lillain will be the middle-ground between Nyammy's viciousness and Friendy's pacifism.
She will fight the Garugaru, but only to retrain them.

There will be an episode where Satoru purifies a Garugaru without become a Precure.
Perhaps an ordinary human can do that as long as they know what they're doing.

There will be a flawless victory episode.
The cures will find a Garugaru egg and purifies it before it could hatch.
