Unlike the other confirmed Cures, her name comes from an animal rather than an inanimate object that relates to the sky. Perhaps her Odd Name Out will tie to this.
- Jossed. She's the childhood friend of Mashiro.
Cure Wing's design is more boyish than the other three cures (wearing shorts rather than a skirt, a small hat instead of hairclips or a headband, and short hair except for a thin ponytail). Perhaps in her civilian form she'd resemble a handsome boy, not unlike Akira Kenjou (Cure Chocolat) or Itsuki Myoudouin (Cure Sunshine).
- Jossed—his civilian form is a bird fairy who can shapeshift into a human boy.
This isn't the first season to have a human baby as the mascot who helps the Cures transform. While Hugtan was a Cure who traveled back in time and turned into a baby, Elle-chan might gain the ability to age up and be a Cure. She already has abilities to create the Sky Mirages.
If she were to be the fifth Cure, she'd be either a purple (based on her hair color) or rainbow cure.
- Confirmed! Ellee becomes Cure Majesty in episode 31 with her main color being purple.
If she were to be a Cure, she'd be a red or black cure due to her regular outfit containing those colors. Black would be more likely since dark skies are black and as a Mythology Gag to the first Cures being Black and White (with Mashiro as the White cure).
- Jossed.
As long as there are no delays, pandemics, or hackers, I feel Hirogaru Sky! will go through a 50 episode run (which we haven't see in too long). 40 or less is getting upsetting, especially since lately the previous have been wasting potential storytelling because of their time left in these limited numbers.
- Jossed. There will be 48 episodes.
- Counter-Jossed, a magazine scan reveals that there will be 50 episodes, also a JP website confirmed to air 50 episodes.
Due to the recent seasons' protagonists all being naive girls who insist on showing unearned mercy to all the villains (or Nodoka in Healin' Good♡Pretty Cure who showed mercy to none of the villains), Sora should not be another static character who doesn't change throughout the whole season. Sora seems to be a character who will be more-rounded and go through Character Development as the season's story goes on. Perhaps she'll also develop a better balance between forgiving the more sympathetic villains who show redeeming qualities and killing the more truly evil villains who cross the Moral Event Horizon and prove to be Complete Monsters, instead of insisting on one or the others.
- With the Implied Death Threat she delivers to Battamonda despite her own exhaustion in episode 15, this does indicate that Sora is as such.
Adding onto the theory above, all the Cures in this season's team should each go through proper character development to become better heroines as the season goes on. From personal growth, developing romatic feelings, and most importantly figuring out their boundaries about forgiveness and offering second chances (as mentioned above, they should learn to be careful about which villains they offer redemption to and which need to be taken out). Fans have complained about how annoyed they are that recent Cures tend to not develop and stay the way they are for most of their seasons (especially the naive and dimwitted ones). Hirogaru Sky should be an opportunity to show what real Character Development in magical girl anime looks like!
This is not the first season to start off without a Yellow Cure who comes in later. And it's likely the fifth cure may follow in their footsteps.
- Jossed, the Colorful Action Mix Palette confirms Majesty is purple.
In the first episode, she is going around with a heavy backpack in the typical style of explorers and adventurers, complete with a bedroll, suggesting she doesn't have a permanent place to stay, and just goes around helping people, Mashiro offering her somewhere to crash for the short term, which Elle's presence makes more long term.
- Jossed. Her family home is shown when they go back to Skyland.
In the opening, a bird-like fairy is shown with multiple design cues similar to Cure Wing. Unlike Sora or Mashiro, we also haven't seen his civilian form yet. During the credits, Cure Wing is seen dancing in front of a bird sanctuary.
- Another point supporting this are the existence of talking birds. Thus far (as of the reveal of EP05's title), there isn't even a minor character who is a bird fairy, so having one of them as one of the main characters would help with the world-building, explaining their existence.
- And If Tsubasa the bird becomes Cure Wing, then he would gain a human form as well. Either he would be stuck as a human, just like Ellen/Siren and Kotoha/Haa-chan (although the latter temporarily changed back in one episode) or be able to shift between his bird and human forms, just like Kurumi/Milk and Ciel/Kirarin with their human and fairy forms, and Laura with her human and mermaid forms.
- Confirmed! Tsubasa is a bird fairy hailing from a tribe called the Puni Bird.
So far, the Cure names are just English translations of their civilian names like Sora = Sky, Prism - Mashiro (her full name means "pure white light of the rainbow"), so it’s very possible that Wing’s civilian name is Tsubasa (a gender neutral name as well), and Butterfly might have the character 蝶 (chou - butterfly) in her name.
- Somewhat confirmed with Cure Butterfly. While her name doesn't have chou, her name is Ageha Hijiri which translates to "Swallowtail Butterfly"
- As it turns out, the orange bird that is mostly likely Cure Wing is indeed named Tsubasa!
In the opening, there's a shot of an obscured driver in a pink jacket driving Sora and Mashiro. Considering Cure Butterfly's legally an adult and therefore capable of driving, it's more than possible that once she's revealed, that she'll be shown in the opening.
- Confirmed! The pink jacket is the same one Ageha wears in her civilian form, and she does drive a yellow Hummer.
The opening shows her having some shots implying a power, not unlike Hugtan, so it's possible she will have some sort of magic ability as the series progresses.
- More or less confirmed. Ellee grants Sora the power to become Cure Sky, and the Underg want to kidnap her for her massive magical power.
Could she be also the oldest of the group in terms of her time as a Cure? It could also bring new meaning to her color being pink, the most common among previous leader Cures.
- Jossed; in episode 4, before Mashiro becomes Cure Prism, Ageha outright states that she doesn't know what a Pretty Cure is.
- Jossed. He was transported to Earth by accident when he was swept by a storm while learning to fly.
- Given that Episode 5 revealed the big baddie to be female, the chances of this are even greater now.
- Well, as of episode 14, it seems that Shalala is not the Underg Empress (different voice actresses, and Shalala's ideals are the complete opposite of the Underg Empire's).
- Outright jossed. The Undergu Empress looks nothing like Shalala, and it's implied that whatever happened to cause the conflict to begin happened 300 years ago.
- Supervillains
- Criminals
- Vandals, Gangsters and Hooligans
- Biker Gangs
- Jossed. Based on the design of Battemonda, and Kabaton's mohawk, it's likely the Undergu Empire is based off of underground rockers.
- Confirmed with Battamonda as of episode 22.
- Double-confirmed with Skearhead.
- Shuichi Ikeda
- Toru Furuya
- Ryota Ozawa
- Mao Ichimichi
- Robin Furuya
- Subaru Kimura
- Kotaro Nakamura
- Keisuke Sohma
- The voice that ordered Kabaton was a woman's voice, so we should that this female voice is the Big Bad.
- Jossed. She's voiced by Takako Honda.
- Confirmed... for some of them. While Mashiro and Yoyo did stay with Ageha on Earth, Sora, Tsubasa and Ellee did return for a while in the ending.
- Semi-Jossed. Tsubasa returns to Sky Land alongside Sora and Ellee in the end, but does return to Earth occasionally.
- Kabaton quits the Underg Empire in episode 12, so we have at least one.
- Confirmed!..ish. His and Ageha's purifying attack does turn him into a fiery phoenix—and then into a larger, shimmery version of his Puni Bird form, to deliver the coup de grace.
Both Tsubasa and Sora's arrival was signified by falling. What's under the sky? The earth.
Additionally, Yoyo may tell her a story about her grandfather to mirror the choice Mashiro's going to have to make.
She's got a distinctive hairstyle, a vibrant hair color, blush on her nose like the other Cures and stands out from the rest of the Guards, making her likely to be a significant character. She also looks to be of similar age to Sora, Mashiro, and Tsubasa.
If she were a Cure, she'd most likely be a red Cure due to her hair/eye colors.
- A Content Leak suggests there will be a fifth Cure, so Beryberie could possibly be Cure Majesty.
- Jossed. Ellee is the fifth Cure.
- Despite that, her voice actor does voice one of the Cures in its succeeding series.
- Jossed. Ellee is the fifth Cure.
- She and her troops were noticeably absent when Ellie was kidnapped.
- Someone that looks somewhat like her has a sinister Slasher Smile in the revised op.
- She disappears at the end of Episode 15 after getting struck down by a massive Ranborg. Her note to Sora just indicates they'll "meet again". She may have some connection?
- Jossed. Shalala is never been evil to begin with and has no connection towards Undergu Empire; among other things, the events of episodes 22 and 23 would not have happened as they did if Shalala was secretly evil.
This guy's clearly a ticking time bomb (not unlike his second Ranborg), might have indirectly killed Shalala, and is more willing to harm civilians (unlike Kabaton, who'd at least warn people to get out of the way). Once the Underg Empress inevitably tightens the thumbscrews, Battamonda might just snap, ignore any openings he's given to turn things around, and tear into the Cures, leading to his death—either because he leaves Cure Sky no choice, or because she couldn't stop the Empress from executing him herself.
- Jossed. He first starts to get swayed by Masahiro's resolved, he ends up facing comedic events that makes him less of a truly monstrous villain, and he ultimately gets purified by the Cures. He also shows up to assist them for the final battle.
- While it was certainly difficult, Sora is able to save Captain Shalala in episode 23 and collect enough Kira Kira energy to save the King and Queen.
- Semi-Jossed. It was her direct ancestor and the Undergu Emperor who fought to fulfil the prophecy, with the Empress being injured, causing the Emperor and Cure Noble to unite the kingdoms... only for someone else to pull them back apart.
- Battamonda couldn't cope through the tough training and resorted to smarts and wits to meet his goals with minimum effort.
- Jossed. Skearhead despises Battamonda's determination despite his poor potential.
- Double Jossed. It's implied that Skearhead, as a advisor to the Emperor, and tutor to the Empress, seemed to single-handedly create the mentality. Though for this case, the merit is exclusively sheer power, rather than hard work.
- The basis of this guess is on the two bad birds present in the past. There might be another bad actor not part of the Undergu Empire.
- Empress Undergu testifies that after the population in Sky Land Kingdom gossip on the potential dangers of the Undergu Empire, Princess Elleelain backstabbed Emperor Undergu on the anniversary.
- Jossed—it was Skearhead who killed Emperor Undergu, for being less fit for wielding Undergu Energy. He then edited his daughter's memories into thinking that Princess Elleelain betrayed her kingdom.
- Confirmed!
- Jossed. He was killed by the same energy spear that Skearhead used to impale Empress Undergu 300 years later.
- Skearhead is Darkhead/Daijarg and his final form is an energy snake with all the power of villainy, Undergu Energy, and the cosmos. Thanks to that, he will become the most powerful Big Bad of the franchise, all of his attacks (which are exact copies of every villains' special moves) will be One Hit Kills which can also level entire cities, he grows more powerful the more damage he receives, and he takes all of the Undergu Energy in the franchise to ascend to god-like power akin to Genie Jafar. With all that power, he will angrily launch an invasion of Earth to destroy it, raging over his failed plan to possess Sora while trying to kill the Cures, and falsely blaming it on Sky and Majesty. His final attack (Undergu Annihilation) will be the most powerful of them all, capable of destroying not just the world, but also all of existence to annihilate all of his enemies, get his revenge, and become his own vessel to play God. For further drama, his final attack succeeds in KILLING EVERYONE AND DESTROYING EVERYTHING while he survives, victoriously laughing in unhinged insanity in the void. It is at that moment, that everyone pulls off the will to not die before the Cures and everyone annihilates him with their own attack called Majestic Halation Finale which undoes the damage done and finally destroys him. Upon getting hit and slowly disintegrated with the Undergu Energy finally getting destroyed forever, he will try to take the Cures down with him.
