Every Day's Different is a Slice of Life Visual Novel, with a major focus on how the right (or wrong) choice of words can affect a person's self-worth. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game's first chapter was released May 23, 2020, for Steam and itch.io. The second chapter released October 23, 2020, with plans for future updates in 2021. A full release followed in February 2022.

Welcome to Okoshin Academy, one of the few pre-college academies created with the intention of preparing high school graduates for the hardships ahead of them. Unfortunately, your parents' messy divorce has just been finalized. You've decided to live with your mother, forcing you to relocate halfway through the year. Making new friends while keeping your grades up seems impossible, but with the help of a long-lost friend—and a little luck—you may just be okay. With four wonderful ladies to get to know, each with their own flaws, secrets and desires. Your choices within the game will either help or hinder them - will you go the extra mile to help them achieve their dreams?

Tropes:

  • Almost Kiss: On Yoko's route she and the protagonist have a couple as they grow closer, held back only by their nervousness.
  • Attention Whore: Yuika always wants to be the center of attention, and spends a lot of time ensuring she looks her best. This seems to be to compensate for her parents' indifference towards her.
  • Beach Episode: The game ends with a trip out to Yuika's parents' beach house.
  • Brutal Honesty: Katsuki abhors white lies and always tells it like it is, though she's sometimes hesitant to admit how much she cares about her friends.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Somewhat deconstructed with Yuika. She is the most well endowed of the girls by a fair margin and proud of it but, as her chest gets so much attention, she has developed the idea that it's her only notable quality.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: One of the women you can get close to is Yoko, the protagonist's long-time friend. Even outside her route she's clearly holding a bit of a torch.
  • Choice-and-Consequence System: The game is built around this. Do you try and equally maintain all of your potential friendships? Or do you cut ties with some in order to grow closer to one in particular, and truly help them overcome the problems in their life?
  • Cosplay Café: Katsuki secretly works at one, a fact she is not happy to see her friends discover.
  • Everyone Can See It: Yoko is fooling nobody but the protagonist regarding her longstanding crush on him.
  • Fiery Redhead: Katsuki has flame red hair and a very short temper. She struggles to control this.
  • Girl Next Door: Yoko fits the personality, being generally kind, friendly and calmer than the others in her friend group. She also literally lived next door to the protagonist as a child and, by random chance does so again when he moves back to his hometown, despite her family moving since.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: The protagonist is named by player choice and has no default name.
  • Important Haircut: Towards the end of the story Yuika cuts her hair short to symbolise her rejection of her parents plans for her.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Averted. Unusually for a Visual Novel the characters frequently change their outfits, with only their school uniforms recurring often.
  • Nice Guy: While his success at it depends on player choice the protagonist is incapable of not trying to help his friends, even quite new friends. Only his deadbeat father brings out his nasty side.
  • Parental Abandonment: The protagonist's father left him and his mother. A while into the story it is revealed he did this to marry his boss' daughter who he had been having an affair with, at least in part to advance his career. The protagonist can't stand him as a result and, depending on player choice, treats any attempt at reconnecting as too little, too late at best and with utter contempt at worst.
  • Parental Neglect:
    • Yuika's parents only care about her in so far as she sticks to their standards and ignore her except to scold her when she tries to do something they don't approve of.
    • Katsuki's parents make no effort to care for her and her sister and are never even home at any point during the plot.
  • Promotion to Parent: Given her parents' refusal to do so Katsuki looks after her little sister.
  • Romance Game: While not his initial goal the protagonist always ends up falling for one of his female friends.
  • Self-Harm: One of the issues discussed about in-game, as indicated by the content warning on the store page.
  • Shrinking Violet: Haru, described on the itch.io page as "A quiet and reserved girl who often shies away from getting to know others". This is due to her self worth issues and depression stemming from her parent's death.
  • Take Your Time: Averted; there's an in-game calendar, and to quote the store page, "there's only so many weekends 'till school's over".
  • Team Mom: Yoko is considered to be this by her friends, due to her breaking up their fights and fixing their problems.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Haru is much smaller and thinner than the other girls. Deconstructed in this case as this is at least partially a result of an eating disorder brought on by deep depression.
  • Tsundere: Katsuki generally fits the mould, being hostile to the protagonist before eventually warming up to him (particularly on her route). This mostly comes from a protective instinct toward her friends and a distrust of strangers.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Yuika and Katsuki have some seriously impressive blow out fights but deeply care for each other and always forgive in the end.
  • Weight Woe: "Eating disorders" is also mentioned as a content warning on the store page. Specifically Haru's depression leads to her often neglecting to eat, leading to her becoming distinctly ill.
