Lele, Ah Kong, Ah Kit, and the gang.

Tun Town (Mandarin, 阿猫阿狗, lit. "Kitty and Doggy") is a 1998 RPG series made by Taiwan's Softstar Entertainment Inc, set in the titular location - populated by andromorphic canines and felines.

A young boy named Lele returns to his childhood hometown of Tun Town, the first time in five years, for summer vacation, only to discover there's a massive war going on between cats and dogs in the town and that he somehow understands the meowing and barking of animals... after saving Hui-hui, his childhood sparrow friend, Lele is drafted into the animal war against his will, with hilarious results.

A sequel titled Tun Town 2 was released in 2005. Lele is back, the canines and felines have stopped their scuffle, but now the animals must work together to face a common threat. And again, Lele returns to Tun Town in time for another unexpected adventure.

Softstar will later release an Expansion Pack online, available in multiplayer for users to select allegiances between either cats or dogs.

Tun Town and it's sequels contain examples of:

  • Brains and Brawn: Lele's two human besties, Ah Kong and Ah Kit, forms this dynamic. Unlike Lele who's an outsider both of these guys are Tun Town residents, the former a karate expert and the latter a tech genius who provides upgrades for Lele's gear.
  • Cats Hate Water: In an early scene Lele's attempts at saving his sparrow friend Hui-hui got himself chased by a swarm of angry cats. Then Lele meets his childhood bestie, Ah Kong, who comes to the rescue by spraying the contents of a coke can into the felines and sends them packing.
  • Friendly Ghost: Uncle John is both this and Lele's Cool Uncle. Players doesn't know John's a ghost until he suddenly floats into view... and Lele quickly embraces him.
"Uncle John! I haven't seen you for too long!"
    [hugs thin air instead]
  • Haunted Castle: Uncle John's Mad Scientist Laboratory is located in one of these, but John doesn't mind. Because he is the castle's ghost.
  • Heroic Canines, Villainous Felines: In the first game, where the felines instigate a war and took over the dogs and Lele is the canine folks' only hope.
  • Lions and Tigers and Humans... Oh, My!: The characters consist of equal parts humans and equal parts assorted canines and felines, with Hui-hui the sparrow and some random farm animals thrown in for good measure. While Lele is the main player protagonist, his party can be made up of his human besties Ah Kong and Ah Kit, and the canines Da-mi (Scottish Terrier), the Three Musketeers (Terriers), Flappy (Shar-pei), Banana (a skinny unknown dog breed), Furry-Girl (Afghan Hound), Raptor (Rottweiler) and other canine sidekicks.
  • Nobody Can Die: Being a comical RPG, defeated felines, rogue canines, or other enemies simply flees upon defeat. Even if Lele blows them up with explosive attacks.
  • Parasol of Pain: Lele's default melee weapon is his trusty parasol.
  • Pounds Are Animal Prisons: There's a pound owned by the cats, so naturally they went to town with the canine populace halfway into the game and have them imprisoned for no reason. Some of the human mooks are even dressed in dog-catcher uniforms!
  • Same-Sex Triplets: The Three Musketeers are a trio of male terriers. They Speak in Unison and attacks as one entity as well.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Lele can understand dogs, cats, birds, chickens, pigs, bugs, every single animal he come across. The game doesn't explain why, but just because.
  • Spin Attack: The terrier trio known as the Three Musketeers somehow can perform a spinning tackle while clinging to each other, dealing better damage than bites or scratches.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Tun Town is populated by talking felines, canines and birds, one of the residents is an actual angel (named Angel), Lele's uncle John is a vampire-ghost Mad Scientist, and of course Lele doesn't question anything around him.
