Ezran meets with the dragons to find help in tracking down and stopping Claudia and Viren, who are making their way down river.

Karim wanders in the desert lost in more ways then one, before meeting someone unexpected.

Tropes:

  • Acoustic License: Ezran delivers a speech to the dragons from a mountaintop several hundred feet above but they seem to be hearing him as if he was standing in front of them.
  • Bad Liar: Callum is called this by his aunt when she catches him sneaking out of the camp and he stammers about "just having a look around". Similarly, Queen Janai is not fooled by his I Can Explain attempt later on.
  • Catapult Nightmare: Queen Janai is startled in her bed after having another of her Recurring Dreams of her sister's death by the hand of Aaravos.
  • Extremely Overdue Library Book: Kazi packs books for their trip to the library. When Callum asks about it, Kazi replies that the books have to be returned as they are two years overdue.
  • Finger-Twitching Revival: The first sign of Viren coming to after almost drowning in the river is his hand moving due to the Window Love gesture with his younger self in his dream.
  • Following in Relative's Footsteps: In one nightmare scene, Viren is shocked to see Claudia literally and figuratively following in his footsteps as a dark mage, and even surpassing him.
  • Forbidden Zone: Queen Janai declares Lux Aurea forbidden ground because Viren's attack infused the city with dark magic. Of course, this doesn't stop Rayla and Callum from venturing there to find the bookery. Though thankfully, she and Amaya are well aware that the duo are too headstrong to be stopped, so Amaya's sent to accompany them along with Kazi.
  • Futile Hand Reach:
    • Viren reaches out to young Soren who runs from him in horror in his fever dream.
    • Later Claudia reaches out to Viren when the latter falls from the raft and sinks into the river.
  • Giant Wall of Watery Doom: In his dream, Viren sees himself and Claudia up against a giant ocean wave which mirrors the Inevitable Waterfall their raft is headed towards in the real world.
  • Give Me a Sign: While stranded in the desert, Sunfire Elf Karim looks at the sun and demands a sign of where to turn. Cue a hellish figure appearing on the horizon.
  • Gondor Calls for Aid: Ezran calls on the help of Xadia's dragons to help find Claudia and her group before they reach and break Aaravos out of his prison.
  • Inevitable Waterfall: Claudia, Terry and Viren's trip on the river takes a dangerous turn when they reach a waterfall. Viren drops from the raft but gets rescued by Claudia who dives after him.
  • Mighty Roar: Zubeia lets out a thundering roar to summon the other dragons of Xadia.
  • Never Give the Captain a Straight Answer: When Callum asks Gren what news he has about Amaya, the latter replies it's best that Amaya tells him herself.
  • Nightmare Face: In one of his dream sequences, Viren's eyes are turned black and the rest of his face is disfigured by dark magic which scares little Soren into running away fast.
  • Screw Destiny: What the younger Viren tells his older self about fate, to get him to realize that just because he has done horrible things, he does not need to continue along a dark path in the future.
Young Viren: No. That can't be true. No matter where you are on the path, no matter what you've done before, every step forward is a choice. I am free. And so are you.
  • Thirsty Desert: Prince Karim is running out of water in the desert but is saved by what turns out to be Pharos, the former high priest of Lux Aurea, who followed him into the desert.
  • Window Love: The final scene shows Viren and his younger self touching hands on the magic mirror.
