"This is it. Our final battle with the Death Busters. We have to win this fight! We're the only ones who can stop the Silence from taking over! Don't worry Chibi-usa, Hotaru. No matter what happens, I will save you and this planet!”
Usagi Tsukino

(CWi Episode: "Who's Really Who?")

The Day of Silence has come and both Sailor Teams struggle to reach the enemy base thanks to a barrier made of a thousand Daimon embryos. Things get even harder when Mistress 9 and Professor Tomoe pull out a few tricks to stop them.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Armor-Piercing Question: Sailor Moon sees through Mistress 9's impersonation of Hotaru after she calls her by her real name.
Sailor Moon: How do you know I'm Usagi Tsukino?
  • Barrier Warrior: As the Daimon barrier continues to expand, the Inner Guardians decide to contain it by channeling their energy into forming a box around it.
  • Backup from Otherworld: Pluto calls on the Talismans to appear before her Outer friends to help them destroy the Daimon possessing Tomoe.
  • Blob Monster: Without an object to possess, the Daimons resemble pink humanoid monsters with slimy properties.
  • Body Backup Drive: The Outers stumble upon a group of white humanoid vessels that Germatoid would have used should his host's body (Professor Tomoe) be rendered useless. He ends up possessing the vessels to attack Uranus and Neptune.
  • Botanical Abomination: Germatoid's true form resembles a giant flower monster with a long skinny stem for a head.
  • Call-Back:
  • CliffHanger: Uranus and Neptune appear in the same room as Mistress 9 with the intent of destroying her. But before they can, Mistress 9 calls out to her master to wait a little longer while she chuckles devilishly.
  • Cool Sword: Uranus' Space Sword works like a real sword and is used to destroy the head doppelganger.
  • Continuity Nod: The Talismans that resided in Uranus and Neptune return as their official weapons.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: A subversion. Germatoid's body is easily blasted to bits by Sailor Uranus' World Shaking, but then the remains enter inside dozens of artificial bodies and they put up a decent fight against Uranus and Neptune.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Sailor Pluto is fully aware that breaking the Final Taboo of stopping time will result in her death. But she does it anyway to protect her friends from their own destruction.
  • Die Laughing: Germatoid does this after he's impaled by Uranus' sword.
  • Elemental Barrier: Professor Tomoe forces the remaining Daimon eggs to hatch and create a barrier surrounding Mugen Academy. The Daimons not only protect the school but are able to attack the Sailor Guardians in mass numbers.
  • Evil Plan: Tomoe explains to his Messiah, and the audience, that all she needs to do is bring the Holy Grail to his lab so she can place it on a machine that will emit a powerful light to the Tau System. This will guide their great master Pharaoh 90 to cross dimensions and bring about the Silence onto Earth.
  • Foreshadowing: While alone with her thoughts, Pluto remembers Sailor Moon's vow of not letting anyone be sacrificed only for her to grimace. During the second half of the episode, she sacrifices her own life to save her friends.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Sailor Pluto freezes time to save Uranus and Neptune and transport them to safety. This ultimately costs her her life.
  • I Never Told You My Name: Sailor Moon manages to see through Mistress 9's deceit after she calls her "Usagi".
  • Irony: Mistress 9 commends the Outer Guardians for being more powerful than she imagined, not even realizing that Pluto lost her life after using her Dangerous Forbidden Technique.
  • Last Words: Just before she meets her demise, Pluto wishes her friends good luck and to have faith in the true Messiah.
  • Locked Out of the Fight: Thanks to Mistress 9 abducting Sailor Moon and pulling her to her sanctuary, the Inner Guardians are unable to complete the Sailor Teleport technique to join her.
  • Magic Mirror: Neptunes' Mirror Talisman allows her to see through the Germatoid Doppelgangers to find the real one.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: As she sits on her throne, Mistress 9 awakens with the knowledge that Moon and her Guardians are arriving to their base with the Holy Grail.
  • Mythology Gag: Just like in the manga, Sailor Pluto breaks the Final Taboo of freezing time which results in her death.
  • Never Say "Die": Pluto doesn't outright say what happens to her after violating the Greatest of Taboos.
  • No-Sell: The Inner attacks have zero effect on the Daimons as they appear by the thousands with slime-like bodies that can combine with one another. And while Moon Spiral Heart Attack has some effectiveness, more Daimons appear to replace the fallen.
  • That Girl Is Dead: Mistress 9 gleefully tells Sailor Moon that Hotaru has been assimilated into her true body and no longer exists.
  • The Reveal: The Daimon possessing Tomoe's body is called Germatoid.
  • Time Stands Still: Sailor Pluto uses her forbidden power of stopping time to save Uranus and Neptune from dying via helicopter explosion.
  • Villain Opening Scene: The episode starts with Professor Tomoe giddily informing Mistress 9 of her role in guiding Pharoah 90 to the Solar System so their takeover can be complete.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Mistress 9 takes the form of Hotaru to fool Sailor Moon into handing over the Holy Grail.
  • You Cannot Fight Fate: Rei's ongoing vision of a sinister hand grabbing Usagi's neck comes into fruition as Mistress 9 pulls her away from her friends.
  • Zerg Rush: The Daimon hordes are able to overpower the Guardians with their mass numbers and animalistic attacks.

"Farewell. And have faith in the true power of the Messiah."
