Big Top Ballyhoo is the fourteenth mission of Moshi Monsters and the fourth mission of Season Two.
In the Rhapsody 2, Captain Squirk says that he has a very important mission for you and can sense that one of his crew members is at the circus. Your super moshi wonders if he used his scanners, but he says that he didn't, but somebody stuck a poster for the circus on the spaceship's window. He also adds that he is hungry as his sandwich was stolen, so it would be great if you could catch the sandwich thief too. You read the poster. It advertises the circus. Close the page and you leave.
At the circus, click on the Glump clown outside the circus tent. He doesn't let you in as you need a ticket and they're sold out, there might be one backstage but you're not allowed there. Click on the plug to Quack Attack to unplug it, then click to go backstage.
Backstage, Sweet Tooth reports to their boss, who says that they know who has Moshlings thanks to the mind-reading Zoshling, and that Glumping them will be easy and they can make a Glump army. Then, talk to the weight-lifting Moshling. He says that he is called Pocito and is the Champion of Strength. Ask if he's one of the circus acts. He thinks it should be obvious. You ask if he has access to the tickets and he says yes. You ask if you can be let in, and he says yes, if you can get him a Baby Boomer plushie. P.S. There's a weird sandwich. Click on it. Then, click to go back to the funfair.
Click on all the purple tickets, then click on one of the plushies to buy it. Then, unplug the Quack Attack game again to go backstage.
Once backstage, open your inventory (the blue bag on the right) and drag the plushie to Pocito). He gives you the ticket.
Click to go back to the funfair. Then, open your inventory and give the ticket to the glump.
In the big top, Pocito is being a human (well, Moshling) cannonball.
Talk to Pocito, who claims that you need something sticky and something heavy to fix the Test Your Strength game (because it's rigged so you can't win). Click the green goo and then go backstage.
Backstage, click the barbell.
Click to go back to the funfair. There, open your inventory and drag the goo and barbell onto the hammer. Then, click to play the Test Your Strength game. Click over and over to win. Pocito is impressed that you beat his score and claims you have his respect. Buy a Snoodle Bank, then open your inventory and put it on the Test Your Strength game. This earns you an E.P.I.C.S.
Enter the tent. Click on the little furry creature. He claims to be a mind-reader. Your monster rudely dismisses him at first but then he correctly says how many Moshlings you own. Then, ask why he's helping the evil clown and tell him that the clown is actually Sweet Tooth. Click the lever to move the target to the right so it's behind Sweet Tooth (then click an E.P.I.C.S.). Then, click the exit button.
At the fair, find Cherry Bomb and click to buy him. Then, talk to Pocito. Tell him that you need to unmask Candy the Clown. He says you can't unmask a fighter and you say that Candy the Clown is not a fighter, it's Sweet Tooth. Click on the cut-out dragon to buy it. Disconnect the Quack Attack game, then open your inventory and drag the cut-out onto the game, which will give you an actual dragon. Talk to Pocito, who is ready.
Put Cherry Bomb into the cannon, then click the dragon. Pocito flies onto Sweet Tooth's face, unmasking them. Then, click Pocito.
Back in the spaceship, open your inventory and drag the sandwich onto Captain Squirk. Pick up the E.P.I.C.S., then click on Squirk. You will tell him about Sweet Tooth and C.L.O.N.C. You can now adopt Pocito, then, the mission ends.
This mission provides examples of
- Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: Captain Squirk wears a helmet, gloves and shoes. The Super Moshis also wear capes, masks and belts.
- Aliens Speaking English: The two Zoshlings, Dr C Fingz and Captain Squirk, are able to communicate with Moshi Monsters.
- Ambiguous Gender: Sweet Tooth's gender is a mystery.
- Anthropomorphic Food: Cherry Bomb looks like a cherry (except this is played with as he also looks like a bomb and isn't meant to be a cherry).
- Bad People Abuse Animals: C.L.O.N.C. have no qualms about turning Moshlings into Glumps and using them in games.
- Big Bad: The main source of conflict and villain in this mission is Sweet Tooth.
- Bilingual Bonus:
- "Pocito" means "a little bit" in Spanish.
- "Cirque du Bonbon" means "circus of candy" in French.
- Character Tics: Captain Squirk has a habit of dancing on the spots.
- Con Man: Sweet Tooth and some Glumps make a circus in order to scam monsters.
- Cruella to Animals: Sweet Tooth doesn't mind Glumping Moshlings.
- Evil Plan: Sweet Tooth's circus was part of a failed evil plan: to have Dr C Fingz tell how many Moshlings a monster has so that C.L.O.N.C. knows which monsters have Moshlings so they can find them and Glump them. Of course, it's not a very well-thought-out plan because Sweet Tooth and the Glumps just got lucky that Dr C Fingz didn't try to read their minds.
- Exposed Extraterrestrials: Played straight for Dr C Fingz, who doesn't wear clothes, and averted for Captain Squirk, who is also an alien but does wear accessories.
- Formally-Named Pet: Captain Squirk and Doctor C Fingz.
- Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Pocito wears a singlet, pants and shoes.
- Fun with Acronyms: C.L.O.N.C. (Criminal League Of Naughty Critters) and E.P.I.C.S. (awards for Extraordinary Performance In Catastrophic Situations).
- Gratuitous Foreign Language: Pocito mainly speaks English, but says, "Gracias" once.
- Healing Factor: Cherry Bomb's head grows back after it explodes.
- Humanoid Aliens: Captain Squirk has a humanoid shape, Dr C Fingz is a borderline example with his head and body being hard to distinguish.
- Meaningful Name: Sweet Tooth (whose shtick is candy) and Cherry Bomb (who is shaped like a cherry and can explode).
- Monster Clown: Sweet Tooth and the Glumps temporarily work as clowns to do evil.
- Psychic Powers: Dr C Fingz has the power to read minds.
- Red Is Heroic: Your Super Moshi's cape and mask are red and Cherry Bomb and Burnie are red.
- Servant Race: Sweet Tooth discusses making Glumps and making them into an army.
- Shapeshifting: Moshlings turning into Glumps is mentioned, but no one actually shape-shifts.
