Catanooga Cheese Explosion

  • Balloon Belly: Augie got a big belly thanks to pizza.
  • Car Fu: With Yogi's help, Shag is able to destroy the Cattanooga Cats' mecha form by ramping the prize car into them.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Yakky in on laughing at Shag when The Cattanooga Cats baby shame him, despite being his friend.
  • The Freelance Shame Squad: Everyone at the Cattanooga Cheese Explosion laughs at Shag when the Cats baby shame him.
  • Goo Goo Getup: Yogi tries to get into the titular children's restaurant/arcade for the sole purpose of eating pizza there, but the manager refuses to let adults in without a child accompanying them. Yogi's first plan involves dressing Boo Boo in a bonnet and diaper and passing him off as his son. The manager is not fooled and threatens to call the police, while Yogi can't believe it when his plan fails.
  • Happiness Is Mandatory: The Cattanooga Cheese Explosion is for happy families only; if someone is unhappy, like when Shag argues with Yogi, the animatronic cats are programmed to stop them at any cost.
  • Hostile Animatronics: The Cattanooga Cats initially appear to be cheap prerecorded audio-animatronics, but as their episode goes on, they're revealed to be somewhat sentient and serve as the restaurant's overzealous security system.
  • Kids Are Cruel: The Cattanooga Cats actively invite the kids to torment Shag, and they do so with no hesitation.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: When they enter their Killer Robot mode, their eyes turn red with yellow highlights.
  • Running Away to Cry: Shag runs out of the Explosion crying after everyone laughs at him.
  • Shout-Out: Yogi does the boombox scene from Say Anything....
  • Suck E. Cheese's: The Cattanooga Cheese Explosion, an entertainment center filled with all the staples like overpriced ticket prizes and greasy pizza.
  • Super-Powered Robot Meter Maids: Despite being animatronics, the Cats have access to laser beams and sensors. Teeny Tim, despite being just a robot waiter, can turn into a much larger mecha.
  • Transforming Mecha: Teeny Tim can morph into a mecha shaped like a dog's head, with the Cats detaching their heads to sit on top of it.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The Cats have no issues with ganging up on Shag Rugg and attempting to rip him limb from limb.

Squish or Miss

  • Bandage Mummy: Yakky, Augie and Shag end up bandaged after getting stomped by Grape Ape. Cindy informs them that their bones have been ground to dust.
  • Bland-Name Product: Peter Potamus mentions "Tenchi Mucho".
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: It's implied that Augie is so used to her father being a helicopter parent that she honestly can't register anything unusual about his parenting even when she's directly questioned about it by him.
  • Fearless Fool: Yakky, after having all her "fear juice" removed, making her a daring skateboarder who then builds a very dangerous course for her to skate, which ends with Grape Ape dancing to samba music. Yakky, Augie and Shag barely survive it.
  • Giant Foot of Stomping: Grape Ape stomps on the kids while dancing.
  • Ignored Epiphany: Doggie Daddy questions Augie in "Squish or Miss" if his parenting methods are emotionally acceptable. Augie's Non-Answer reassures him he has no problems.
  • Jump the Shark: Invoked - Yakky's skateboarding course includes a ramp over a shark — Jabberjaw on a kiddie pool.
  • Mad Scientist: Cindy complains about the ethics board prohibiting one of her experiments.
  • Misery Builds Character: Chopper believes that Yakky getting hurt will build her character.
  • Nervous Wreck: When Cindy decides to remove Yakky's fear juice to make her brave, the amount of fear juice extracted easily fills at least five of Cindy's "fear suckers," all of which are as big as Cindy herself.
  • Open-Minded Parent: Chopper encourages Yakky to take risks, telling her that getting hurt along the way builds character.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Grape Ape gets set up as a skatepark obstacle by a now-fearless Yakky Doodle, stomping around while listening to music. Augie and Shag don't manage to stop her before all three of them get squished.
