Unlike other mediums, fanfiction is harder to rank the violence of, with the usual lack of visuals. Purely by the word, violence here is ranked by the brutality of the violent act in general and the worded detail of the act.

Level 0
Level 1
Level 2
- DOOM: Repercussions of Evil note Demons are shot at, but there's no graphic detail and it's unclear if they actually die. A character randomly turns into a zombie.
Level 3
Level 4
- Memories of Infinite's Past note Plenty of swordfighting and some explosions, two jackals are electrocuted to death and a soldier in a backstory is mentioned to be facing Cold-Blooded Torture
- My Immortal note Character kills himself via wrist-slitting, but inexplicably comes back to life. Gruesome deaths mentioned off-page. A vampire bites and drains a woman's blood. A character is mentioned cutting herself several times. A villain threatens to rape a character. Some of it is off-set by the writing making it difficult to tell what's happening and the characters often having minor reactions to being injured even severely.
Level 5
- Lucky Number Thirteennote For non-graphic yet disturbing violence in a sexual context, described by one character to another; namely, a character's arm was badly dislocated from being tied up incorrectly, her Dom carried on with the scene – including whipping her and having sex with her – after she signalled to stop (it's unclear if he intentionally ignored her or was simply neglectful) and he threatened to sodomize her. The character's brother threatened to break the ex-Dom's legs if he came near his sister.
- Sonic Forces Chapter 2
Level 6
- The Nightmare House note Leni's legs get crushed, there is blood when Luna is bitten, Lincoln gets decapitated, Lola (a six-year-old)'s facial features drop off, Lily nearly gets eaten (by a monster with pus coming out of his tongue), and Lincoln gets a bite taken out of his neck, but those were all in the characters' nightmares and everyone is fine in the end.
Level 7
- Marriage of Heaven and Hell note Characters getting stabbed and shot, some gore and amputations, a character is implied to have sexually abused several women and threatens to rape a major charactor.
- Morticia Is Pregnant note Character commits suicide (but comes back to life), character murdered on-page, lots of miscarriages and stillbirths.
- Nihonverse Pocketville note Unlike its kid-friendlier source which ranks a 2, this series has a relatively higher amount of violence shown, though nothing too gruesome. Most scenes are a 5 or 6 but the highest the series has gotten is a 7. Hairo gets impaled through the neck, some characters end up getting claw and bite marks, Slashed Throats are shown, the Moon Queen and the corrupted Masuyo losing limbs in their fight (though the Moon Queen quickly regenerates hers, being a powerful goddess), and Masuyo is heavily implied to have died by decapitation. Some blood is shown running down some characters' fur or showing up as stains, though it's technicolor Alien Blood, which the series would've gotten a higher rating if it weren't for that and the characters all being non-humans.
- Suffer note Scenes of jackals, including the pups, being murdered by stabbing or shooting, albeit non-detailed, offscreen rape, and the blood-covered Phantom Ruby in the epilogue
Level 8
- Avenues of Communication note Shizune badly breaks her arm, to the point where her bone is exposed, as a result of an accidental injury.
- Bring Me The Head of Charlie Brown (1986) note Numerous graphic shootings with copious blood splatter and decapitations with many bystanders killed; the majority being children, including the entire Peanuts cast. The entire short is in black and white.
- Trauma note For mentions of large blood spill from Keelie's graphic Death by Childbirth and an infected Lance being shot in the head, Infinite having bits of flesh in his teeth after mauling Lance, and depictions of the Illness, with bleeding and disfigured male jackals scraping other jackals (including a newborn pup) to death with fangs and claws and raping the females.
Level 9
- Cloud 9 note Really solidifies itself in this level starting from chapter 16, where a character rips out some of another character's skin with their teeth before smashing that character's head until it's "reduced to pulp" and the violent imagery that's present throughout reaches its most extreme. Earlier in the story, there's also the corpse which is found with its eyes removed, leg slit open and internal organs splattered on a wall, but the mutilation itself is not described.
- Deceit note For a C-section scene which depicts a uterus being ripped into pieces.
- Poké Wars note Can get as high as this level with graphic depictions of injuries and deaths caused by either weapons or pokémon attacks.
- What it Takes to Survive note Violence typical of the movie series it's based on.
Level 10
- Cheerilee's Garden note Extremely sadistic acts of violence performed on children.
- Cupcakes (Sergeant Sprinkles) note Disembodied organs everywhere, characters get killed brutally including foals, Rainbow Dash has her legs and wings gruesomely cut off and then she is disemboweled.
- Eternal Bad End note Graphic description of sadistic mutilation, including disembowlment.
- Laughing in the Face of Death note In the author's own words: "Graphic Depictions of Violence, Murder, Torture".
- The Night Unfurls note Rated M, the protagonist often engages in graphic violence that ticks off most, if not all, tropes in the Anatomy Agony index. The amount of gorn depicted is only mitigated by the lack of visuals due to the fanfic genre. Furthermore, this fanfic portrays disturbing violence against innocents in detail, including the Rape, Pillage, and Burn of women and children, together with inhumane experimentation on civilians, not unlike a fantasy counterpart of Unit 731.
- Sonic X: Dark Chaos note Every single horrific act of depravity and inhumanity imaginable, with plenty of gore, vulgarity and perversion all around. This ranges from rape to murder, torture, genocide, and so much more depicted in disturbing detail. In fact, even when the worst parts are thankfully cut out, the sickening nature of them are still enough to reach this level.
- Squidward's Suicide note Horrifically mutilated corpses of children are described in great detail, with one child being disembowelled while they are still alive.
