"10 years ago, the Grail was believed to be destroyed. The War was over, but every action has a consequence. By infusing the Grail with the power of Excalibur's attack, the Grail found itself overloaded with energy and out of balance. To resolve this problem, the Grail reached out and drew upon the Second Sorcery and called upon the heroes of other times and other worlds."

Fate Fantasy is a Fate/stay night fanfiction by AgntNevada. It is posted on Fanfiction.Net and is now complete.

As stated by the summary, Saber being forced to use Excalibur on the Grail caused it to absorb so much magic that it had to allow the summon of Secondary Heroic Servants from different worlds to restore itself. They include Harry Dresden as Second Caster for Rin, Link as Second Saber for Shirou, Pyrrha Nikos as Second Lancer for Sakura, Sinon as Second Archer for Tony, Ghost Rider as Second Rider for Illya, Ezio Auditore da Firenze as Second Assassin, and Grog Strongjaw as Second Berserker.

Similar to Fate: Zero Sanity and Fate/Zero Sense, Fate Fantasy is a series that includes character development, action, and romance.

It has been announced that a follow-up to Fate Fantasy is in development.

This fanfic provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Distillation: Primarily is the Fate Route, but contains elements from the other two routes of the visual novel as well.
  • Badass Teacher: Harry becomes this for Rin, and to a lesser extent, Shirou.
  • Blood Knight: Grog Strongjaw shows great joy at being allowed to fight in the late stages of the Grail War, being annoyed that he wasn't allowed to do so sooner.
  • Composite Character: Part of what makes the secondary Servants so deadly is that they gain abilities they had from several points in their lives (and across reincarnations in Link's case), even those that were temporary. Word of God has also stated their skills run on both their home universe and Nasuverse rules, giving them the best of both worlds.
    • Sinon has her gaming avatar and bow from Alfheim Online (with it's flight capabilities) and her entire arsenal from Gun Gale Online.
    • Harry regains Lash and the ability to use Hellfire, on top of all the powers he gained in the later books.
    • Link outright states that he has access to his arsenal and memories across all his lives, with his Twilight Princess incarnation being the most prominent with Shirou as a master.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: Pyrrha manages to fair surprisingly well against Gilgamesh thanks to her Semblance and even manages to land a few hits. However, after the latter realizes it only affects metal, he is quickly able to turn it into a typical battle for himself.
  • Deadpan Snarker:
    • Link quickly becomes very bemused with the obvious tension between Saber and Shirou.
    • Harry Dresden is one par excellence.
Ilya: You know, you're not nearly as funny as you think you are.
Harry: I know. I'm not hysterical. Alas, I must settle for merely being hilarious.
  • Death by Irony: As Kirei notes, he is being killed by Rin and Shirou with the dagger he used against the formers father by stabbing his heart, similar to how Kiritsugu finished him off.
  • Friendly Sniper: Second Archer. She still manages to take out a chunk of Link's ear, though.
  • Good vs. Good: The battles between the Emiya/Tohsaka alliance against Barrett boil down to this, with the latter wanting to simply win the Grail without human casualties, including other Masters.
  • Mental World: Reality Marbles feature heavily in this fic. Archer and Shirou have Unlimited Blade Works, and Second Archer has Bullet of Bullets 3.
  • Multiple Endings: The story has a True and Good ending akin to the original games' route. The true ending have the Servants returning to the Throne of Heroes, while the good ending has Rin preventing Harry from vanishing while Sakura becomes Saber's master so she can be with Shirou.
  • Mundane Utility: Link uses several of the items in his extensive arsenal (including the Beetle and the Fire Rod) to cook dinner.
  • Official Couple: Shirou and Saber/Arturia are the main romance of the story.
  • Oh, Crap!: Harry when he recognizes who the Second Rider is.
  • Original Character: Tony Barnett, a Texan Magus sent by the Mage Association and the master of Second Archer.
  • Out of Focus: While the other Secondary Servants get their motives expanded upon, Ezio never explains his, or does he get a chapter from his narration before he dies.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech / You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Oddly enough, Harry and Link both give Saber a mix of these after hearing about her wish for the Grail.
    • Link draws from his experience with a 'strong' ruler and notes that while there may be another king who could have made her country last through the ages, there's no guarantee that they would have had the moral character to ensure the peoples prosperity as well as the underlying arrogance in assuming that Caliburn did not immediately select the best candidate as king.
    • Harry points out that she is ignoring all the good she accomplished both as king, and in her legacy, noting that despite falling, people still look up to her legend as a shining example of nobility and heroism to this day. He also notes the underlying arrogance in assuming that she is solely responsible for its downfall, noting that there were several other factors in play, and most came about as a result of the choices of others over which she had no control.
  • Sequel Hook: In the epilogue Angra Mainyu is revealed to still be alive (albeit severely weakened) and swears revenge on the Grail War survivors, Master and Servant alike.
  • Sexy Discretion Shot: Happens twice during scenes with Saber and Shirou.
  • Supreme Chef: Alongside the canon example of Shirou, Link as well, due to the Grail updating his knowledge of cooking methods to include modern ingredients, allowing him to transfer his skills.
  • Team Dad: Harry is pretty much the Parental Substitute for the Emiya/Tosaka Alliance. Due to his experiences, he's able to effectively counsel Shirou, Rin and to a lesser extent Saber. He goes full Dad voice whenever someone does something stupid and verbally bitch-smacks Archer every time he tries to take a shot at Shirou. Which is often.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Shinji saw Secondary Servants like Pyrrha as weaker than the originals, though this allowed Pyrrha to act as Sakura's Servant.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain:
    • Archer survives his battle with Shirou, with some of his old idealism restored, and is willing to restore his contract with Rin. Then Sinon snipes his heart, killing him.
    • The Emiya/Tohsaka alliance (plus Barnett) manage to kill Zouken and save Sakura, much to Pyrrha's relief, leaving no enemies left. Then she encounters Gilgamesh on her way home from grocery shopping, and is killed after a brief but intense battle.
