    The Wunderling
The hero of the game. A lowly first-tier enemy who is elevated to protagonist simply by gaining the ability to jump.
  • Ambiguous Gender: It's not clear if they even have a gender, or if so, what it is. The costumes in the game include both masculine things like beards and feminine things like skirts and hair flowers, and they can wear both at once. Given that Dash seems to be crushing on them in the Playable Epilogue, they might be female... or Dash might be bi.
  • Ambiguous Species: It's a Running Gag that Carrot Man has no idea what kind of veggie they're supposed to be. He off-handedly guesses "...A tater?" before deciding that's not right.
  • The Goomba: They're one of the most basic foot soldiers in Kohlrabi's army.
  • Heroic Mime: They never speak. Dash provides most of the exposition in their silence.
  • Make My Monster Grow: During the boss fights, Kohlrabi transforms them into more fierce-looking monsters to take on Carrot Man.
  • Waddling Head: They've got tiny flipper arms and feet attached directly to their body, making them look mostly like a face with limbs.

    Dash, the Royal Racing Cow
Kohlrabi's loyal assistant and Princess Pea's best friend. She's a cow from another kingdom who's proud of her speed. She appears throughout the game to provide support and exposition to the Wunderling, and, if they collect all of the flowers in a world, she grants them a page from Princess Pea's diary to provide them with background on the events happening in the game.
  • Ambiguously Bi: She has a massive crush on Kohlrabi, but in the Playable Epilogue, she gives the Wunderling a "*blusha-blusha*". The Wunderling doesn't have an obvious gender, so it's not clear if she's bi or if that's meant to indicate the Wunderling is female.
  • Crush Blush: She often blushes around Kohlrabi. When she does, her speech bubble says her signature "*blusha-blusha*".
  • Ignored Enamored Underling: She has a massive crush on Kohlrabi, and frequently blushes after speaking to her. She also hits on her in a few of the cutscenes. Kohlrabi never notices.
  • Last of Their Kind: One of Princess Pea's diary entries states that Dash is the last of the racing cows after a war between the carnivorous and herbivorous animal kingdoms.
  • Offered the Crown: In the Rabi's Ruin ending, Kohlrabi bequeaths the crown of the Vegetable Kingdom to her after being defeated.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: She admits that it's "messed up" that she continues to hang around Kohlrabi, even after Kohlrabi's transgressions become more and more obvious. It takes until World 7 for her to finally stand against Kohlrabi and overcome her feelings.
  • We Used to Be Friends: She was once good friends with Carrot Man, and she knows that he's been struggling since Pea vanished. She can't support his current actions, but she asks the Wunderling not to think too poorly of him.

    Carrot Man
The "hero" of the Vegetable Kingdom. Despite being renowned throughout the kingdom, he's a vain, self-centered vigilante who lets the adoration of the people go to his head. When Princess Pea is "kidnapped," he begins wreaking havoc across the kingdom in order to "rescue" her. He hopes that by "rescuing" Pea, she'll agree to become his girlfriend.
  • Entitled to Have You: He pretty clearly thinks that rescuing Pea makes him entitled to have a Rescue Romance with her. He fixates on dating her in cutscenes, even though he claims there's "no pressure to date or anything." It turns out, he's been turned down by her before... and he understood and was fine with it, though her going missing has driven him mad with grief.
  • Helicopter Hair: In the first boss fight against him, he's twirling his leaves in order to hover in the sky.
  • Hero Antagonist: In any other video game, he'd be the hero trying to rescue the princess. Here, though, he needs to be stopped before he hurts anyone else.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Before Kohlrabi murdered her parents, he asked Pea out and she turned him down. He actually understood, but was still getting over the rejection when she was kidnapped. This didn't help his fraying mental state one bit.
  • It's All About Me: He sees himself as the cool, popular hero who's going to save the princess and be adored by all of the people (the princess most of all). He's not. According to the Princess's diaries, he's always been self-centered, but he was once a genuinely good friend to her who listened to her woes and offered her moral support.
  • Mr. Vice Guy: Pride—Princess Pea's diaries reveal that he's fundamentally a good person, he's just become full of himself due to the accolades of the kingdom going to his head.
  • Vigilante Injustice: He doesn't care who he hurts on his mission to "rescue" Pea.

    Kohlrabi
The game's "main villain." She's the former head wizard for the royal family. Since the tragic death of Princess Pea's parents, she's been looking after Pea and trying to keep her safe.
  • Cute Witch: She's an adorable green witch who flies around on a broomstick.
  • Vain Sorceress: She's been using dark magic to make herself look like a Cute Witch. Her true form has a more vegetable-like head and is much chunkier.

    Princess Pea (MAJOR UNMARKED SPOILERS)
The Princess of the Vegetable Kingdom, and the one fated to bring peace and prosperity to her kingdom. Much of the game's backstory is revealed through her diary entries, which Dash gives to the Wunderling when they collect all of the flowers in a world.

Sadly, however, she is heavily implied to be deceased as of the events of the game.

  • Human Sacrifice: If Kohlrabi's statement in the Rabi's Ruin ending is true, then Pea was killed so her pure soul could be used as a spell component in the magi-technology required to produce Wunderlings.
  • It Sucks to Be the Chosen One: She was fated to bring prosperity to her kingdom, and it put a lot of pressure on her. One of the reasons she became such good friends with Carrot Man is because he listened to her worries and was supportive of her.
  • Never Found the Body: While Kohlrabi claims to have killed her, there's a little ambiguity in her fate. Kohlrabi also created a fake runaway note from Pea in which she insults and belittles Carrot Man, when Pea's real diary entries show she was actually developing a crush on him only after turning him down. This shows that Kohlrabi was absolutely willing to lie about Pea's whereabouts in order to demoralize Carrot Man and co. Pea's last diary entry also has her planning her getaway, with it left open-ended if this was her last entry before she was killed or her last entry before she escaped.
  • Posthumous Character: She is heavily implied to be dead in the Kohlrabi's Ruin story, as Kohlrabi claims she killed her. However, Kohlrabi also wrote a fake goodbye note from Pea insulting Carrot Man (when her diary entries imply she was undergoing an Unrequited Love Switcheroo) and her final diary entry leaves open the possibility that she may have escaped, so her fate has some ambiguity.
  • The Reveal: Once the player reaches and ending, they finally get to see Pea's face. Instead of a beautiful standard video game princess as they might expect, she's literally a pea in a dress. She doesn't even have a face!
  • Unrequited Love Switcheroo: Her last diary entries imply that she may have started developing a crush on Carrot Man, after she'd turned him down and he'd started coming to terms with it.
