The Cast

     Carol Cobb

Carol Cobb aka Dr. Lacey Nightingale

Played by: Karen Gillan

An actress who initially left the Cliff Beasts franchise to pursue more ambitious projects, only to star in an offensive dud that forced her to come crawling back.

  • Bring My Brown Pants: At one point Dr. Nightingale pisses herself when a dinosaur roars in her face. It's heavily implied this was thrown in to humiliate Carol.
  • The Hero: Or at least she tries to be this. When production becomes too much for the cast to bear, it's Carol who puts her foot down and says they should quit.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Her constant complaints about her reduced role as well as her attempts to expose the terrible filming conditions make her seem whiny. In the Distant Finale, she has become "the villain" of The Bubble.
  • Humiliation Conga: Carol came back to Cliff Beasts after her other movie tanked, she has no social life outside making the film, her fiance cheats on her and her role is rewritten to becomes ridiculous (as retaliation for her trying to expose the movie's conditions). Her reputation has gotten worse in the two years since Cliff Beasts.
  • Mighty Whitey: She previously starred in a movie as the protagonist who would unite Israel and Palestine...against an alien invasion.
  • White-Dwarf Starlet: Carol's on her way to becoming this, despite retaining her youthful looks. Krystal calls her a Boomer, her career came to a screeching halt after starring in a bomb and she had to return to a franchise that made her famous but treats her like shit.

     Dustin Mulray

Dustin Mulray aka Dr. Hal Packard

Played by: David Duchovny

A recurring cast member of the Cliff Beasts franchise. He's a control freak in an on-and-off relationship with Lauren

  • I Was Quite the Looker: While on hallucinogens, Dustin mentions being ridiculously handsome in his younger days. Cue the deepfake of David Duchovny looking 20 years younger.
  • Wag the Director: Invoked. Dustin regularly butts heads with Darren for creative control, only to be ignored each time. While speaking out of line doesn't help his image much, it's obvious that Dustin's ideas are much better than the script he's been given.

     Lauren van Chance

Lauren van Chance aka Dolly

Played by: Leslie Mann

A recurring cast member of the Cliff Beasts franchise. She's in an on-and-off relationship with Dustin.

  • An Arm and a Leg: Fed up with the isolation, Lauren finally breaks free of the hotel, only for her hand to get blown off by security.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Lauren wanted to get ouf of isolation. She does...minus one hand.

     Sean Knox

Sean Knox aka Colt Rockwell

A recurring cast member of the Cliff Beasts franchise. Founder of a new age lifestyle akin to Scientology.

  • Hollywood Mid-Life Crisis: He's secretly jealous of Krystal's youth and popularity.
  • New-Age Retro Hippie: His wellness movement leans heavily into this, which is later revealed to be a response to kicking his drug habit in a half-assed fashion.

     Dieter Bravo

Dieter Bravo aka Gio

Played by: Pedro Pascal

A new cast member with an addiction to sex and drugs.

  • Cloudcuckoolander:
    • At one point during filming he witnesses a particularly stupid scene and says "I must kill them all". It's not entirely clear if he's in character or not.
    • He ends up inviting Daisy Ridley in-universe for the premiere of the finished film, solely because he had sexual hallucinations about his virtual yoga instructor that looks the same. Daisy is completely confused as to why she was invited for the gala.
  • Mean Character, Nice Actor: Dieter's cast as a villain in Cliff Beasts 6, but in real life he's an easy-going (albeit unstable) guy.
  • Through the Eyes of Madness: Dieter has visions of his virtual yoga instructor aggressively propositioning him. For added laughs, she's played by Pedro Pascal's fellow Star Wars alumni Daisy Ridley.

     Howie Frangopolous

Howie Frangopolous aka Jarrar

Played by: Guz Khan

The comic relief of the Cliff Beasts franchise.

  • The Other Darrin: Discussed in-universe. When Howie decides he wants out, Gavin tries to reassure Howie that he's irreplacable. Howie points out that if Batman could have 5 recasts, then his less memorable character can be just as easily recast.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Disillusioned with the film industry and its buckling from the pandemic, Howie angrily quits the film and escapes isolation.

     Krystal Kris

Krystal Kris aka Vivian Joy

Played by: Iris Apatow

A Tiktok celebrity brought in to entice younger viewers.

  • The Pollyanna: As the youngest cast member, Krystal is nowhere near as jaded as the other Cliff Beasts veterans.

The Crew

     Gavin

Gavin

The producer of Cliff Beasts 6.

     Darren Eigan

Darren Eigan

Played by: Fred Armisen

The director of Cliff Beasts 6. His only other directing credit being a film shot on a phone.

  • Prima Donna Director: After winning a Sundance award for his directing debut, Darren assumes he can just jump onto a blockbuster franchise and do whatever he wants. Dustin makes it clear he's not going to lie back and take this.

     Gunther

Gunther

Played by: Harry Trevaldwyn

A production assistant.

  • Nice Guy: He may be a yes-man, but he's nonetheless friendly to the cast.

     Bola

Bola

Played by: Samson Kayo

A production assistant.

  • Innocently Insensitive: When giving the cast a yoga class, Bola tries to reassure the actors that they should just forget all the trivial things in life, like the fact that their industry could collapse from the pandemic and none of them have any value in the real world. He also doesn't seem to realise that he screams obscenities when he's being swabbed, reverting back to being friendly and wondering why Gavin is suddenly so nervous around him.

     Carla

Carla

Played by: Galen Hopper

A production assistant and daughter of the stunt coordinator.

     Scott Dawson

Scott Dawson

Played by: Nick Kocher

A cameraman tasked with capturing behind-the-scenes footage.

  • Breakout Character: By the end of the film, Scott ends up winning an award for making a Heart of Darkness inspired documentary from his footage.

     Pippa

Pippa

Played by: Danielle Vitalis

A production assistant.

     Tip & Cyril

Tip & Cyril

Played by: Ben Ashenden (Tip) & Guy Alexander (Owen)

Mo-cap performers.

Others

     Paula

Paula

Played by: Kate McKinnon

The studio exectuive.

  • Big Bad: As she overrules Gavin and Darren, she's indiretly responsible for the mistreatment everyone else goes through. Not to mention going on frivolous trips abroad while people with less are expected to stay at home for indefintie periods shows her general apathy for the wellbeing of any other person.
    • Big Bad Wannabe: She's just one of many studio execs. She also has answer to her own boss, who has a boss of his own.
  • Idle Rich: Paula was able to go skiing during the pandemic, while doing absolutely no work onscreen.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: Paula mentions getting an early vaccination because she has wealthy connections. Whether or not this is true isn't clarified, but if she's going to Switzerland for a holiday she's definitely breaching COVID guidelines.

     Mr Best

Mr Best

Played by: Ross Lee

A security head.

  • The Dragon: Heavily implied to be one for Paula, who claims to not know who he is, but that he sounds like someone that shouldn't be agitated.

     Ronjon

Ronjon

Played by: Vir Das

The hotel manager

  • Deadpan Snarker: He's got a low opinion of Hollywood stars and makes it clear whenever possible.

     Anika

Anika

Played by: Maria Bakalova

A hotel concierge

  • Love Interest: For Dieter. While the attraction is mutual, Anika tells Dieter she's not going to sleep with him on command, so he has to get to know her first.
