The Divine Four
Kratos
An immortal warrior who once led siege to the Gods of Greek Mythology. Centuries afterwards, Kratos is now a gruff, serious but humble man who wishes to live a decent life alongside his son.
- Action Dad: He's a father who's new job is to raise his son into being a warrior that's as great as or better than him.
- Brutish Character, Brutish Weapon: Subverted. His go-to weapon is his Leviathan Axe but he's much more calculated and has better control of his emotions when fighting.
- I Did What I Had to Do: He's murdered countless people and beings in his past lifetime. When his son brings it up, Kratos somberly responds with this as his answer for doing so.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: He's prone to letting his anger get the better of him during times of stress. Though this is actually reconstructed as he's able to stop himself from letting his anger get out of control by recognizing when it's appropriate or not. He also knows how to use that anger primarily for combat which gives him the drive to defeat his foes.
- An Ice Person: His Leviathan Axe allows him to create ice attacks.
- The Leader: Given his experience and age, he takes on the leader position for the Divine Four.
- Old Master: The man is immortal, having lived through Ancient Greece. Yet his hunting and fighting skills have only improved throughout his time since then.
Denji
To many, he's a crass and assuming punk who struggles to keep up a normal life. But to the surprise of many, he's actually the incredibly powerful and hyper-violent Devil Hero Chainsaw Man. And after being isekai'd in the world of Midgard, Denji is willing to do whatever it takes to get himself and his little sister back home in one piece.
- Big Brother Instinct: He sincerely loves his little sister and does what he can to look after her, especially given their drastic situation.
- Chainsaw Good: He can conjure chainsaws on his body and is, for the most part, a good guy.
- Human-Demon Hybrid: Denji is one of the few humans on Earth who's able to fuse with a given Devil and gained access to their respective abilities. In his case, he fused with Pochita, the Chainsaw Devil.
- Morality Pet: Given his role as Nayuta's big brother, he's the only reason why she'll can tolerate the change in worlds while following along with Kratos' orders.
- Strong, but Unskilled: Criticized constructively. Since Denji's fighting experiences have always involved fighting giant monsters and Devils, he rarely needed to come up with a strategy or figure out how to use his powers in a more elaborate manner. This is pointed out by Kratos after their sparring match ends with him losing.
Atreus
The son of Kratos. A young boy with a kind and gentle heart. This puts him in conflict with his tough but well-meaning father as Atreus is pushed into embarking on a treacherous journey that will test his ability to follow the warrior's path.
- Kid Hero: A young lad who's training to be a skilled warrior.
- Like Parent, Like Child: To Kratos' dismay, he inherited his anger issues and how it influences him during battle.
- Omniglot: He has a talent for understanding and translating different languages in written form.
Nayuta
A rambunctious little girl with a loud and boorish personality. In truth, she's the reincarnation of the infamous Control Devil who's now under the care of Denji in the hopes of turning out better compared to her monstrous past self.
- Big Brother Worship: She genuinely admires Denji and is willing to follow along with his wishes. She also expresses excitement in seeing him as Chainsaw Man.
- Chain Pain: She has the power to summon chains to either brainwash anyone or anything lesser than her and also to move around given places.
- Compelling Voice: As the Control Devil, she can force anyone under the control of her chains to do anything she wants.
- Little Miss Badass: She's an elementary school girl who can overpower enemies ten times her size using only her chains.
- The Nose Knows: Her nose is able to pick up on scents from long distances.
Allies
Brok
A blue dwarf who works as a blacksmith. He provides the group with armor and weapon upgrades throughout their journey.
- The Blacksmith: His role in the story.
- Offscreen Teleportation: He has a habit of conveniently popping in the same area as the Divine Four.
Freya
The Witch of the Woods with a welcoming and gentle nature. She specializes in advanced magic that can help the group with their health and abilities.
- Friend to All Living Things: She treats all beings in her enchanted forest as close friends of hers.
- Secret-Keeper: She knows about Kratos' past as a former God of War and how he's keeping it a secret from his son.
- Solitary Sorceress: Freya prefers to live alone in a mystical forest. But she is open to greeting visitors who come her way.
Antagonists
Baldur
A mysterious brute of a man who was sent by Odin to pick a fight with Kratos.
- Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He's a mighty brawler who flaunts his arrogance in front of Kratos.
- Feel No Pain: He boasts that he doesn't feel any pain from any of the Spartan's attacks.
- The Gadfly: He constantly provokes the former God into fighting him while taunting him about his lackluster abilities.
- Heal Thy Self: he has the ability to heal his body from any serious injuries.
- Light 'em Up: He can also conjure energy attacks through his hands.
- Power Tattoo: The tattoos on his body glow blue as he musters the strength to continue his fight.
- Walking Shirtless Scene: He doesn't wear a shirt in his appearances.
