Playable Characters

Reisalin "Ryza" Stout

Voiced by: Yuri Noguchi

The main protagonist. Following the events of Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy, she was melancholy for some time after being separated from Fi. She quickly bounces back and continues as a teacher to the island's children. When a mysterious set of islands suddenly appears near Kurken Island, she contacts her friends to go on an adventure together once again.

• Animal Lover: In this game, Ryza is shown allying herself with animals much more than before. Cats and dogs bring her items in exchange for pets, dolphins give her a ride, and rabbits and birds guide her towards points of interest.
• Shipper on Deck: She continues to tease Tao and Patty about their feelings. She also is very interested in the nature of Empel and Lila's relationship.

Tao Mongarten

Voiced by: Junta Terashima

One of Ryza's old friends. In the years following Ever Darkness, Tao has become a great scholar on the mainland. He has also grown up, both in physical height, and when it comes to his courage.

• Dual Wielding: His current weapon of choice is a pair of short swords.
• The Smart Guy: Tao has a deep knowledge of past civilizations, and is the one the part turns to when they need help interpreting ancient text.

Klaudia Valentz

Voiced by: Hitomi Ohwada

Another of Ryza's old friends, who has been working hard as a merchant since their last adventure. She's swapped over to magic-powered bows as weapons from her flutes.

• Hidden Depths: Despite her noble exterior, Klaudia shocks (and grosses out) her friends when she reveals that she's willing to eat bugs, a practice she learned when traveling to far-off areas where this is the norm.

Lent Marslink

Voiced by: Takuma Terashima

Yet another of Ryza's old friends, who went on a journey to better himself and protect others, which seems to have taken a toll on his emotions.

• Heroic Build: He was already pretty much there in Ever Darkness, now his muscles have muscles.
• My Greatest Failure: In his character events, Lent expresses regret over an incident where he attempted to slay a dragon that was terrorizing a village, but was unable to finish the job. While Lent did put the dragon's reign of terror on hold, Lent knew that because he didn't kill it, the dragon would eventually come back for vengeance.

Bos Brunnen

Voiced by: Yohei Azakami

Both a friend and former bully to Ryza in the past, he has continued to train and finally feels ready to join the main cast on an adventure.

• The Perfectionist: Bordering on Broken Ace. He's smart, strong, rich, and handsome, but used to feel unworthy to join Ryza on his adventures because he wasn't as smart as Tao, as strong as Lent, etc. In this game, he has built his skills to the point where he feels confident enough to join Ryza on an adventure, but he does still have feelings of insecurity about this.

Patricia "Patty" Abelheim

Voiced by: Naomi Ozora

The daughter of a knight-turned-aristocrat in the capital city, who has been personally tutored by Tao.

• Bodyguard Crush: She developed feelings for Tao while he was her tutor and unofficial bodyguard in the previous game.
• Critical Hit Class: Patty's skills revolve around dealing critical hits, either having a greater crit chance or having enhanced effects on a critical hit.
• Sheltered Aristocrat: She is more experienced in adventuring compared to the previous game, but her father is still very protective of her, and is upset with her when she leaves to join Ryza and Tao.

Empel Vollmer

Voiced by: Hirofumi Nojima

Ryza's mentor in alchemy, who is continuing to seek out and close the gates to the Underworld.

Lila Decyrus

Empel's travelling partner, and another old ally of Ryza's.

Federica Lamberti

The young deputy union head of Sardonica in the Cleria region. She is a new playable character in the series.

• Combat Hand Fan: Her choice of weapon is a fan, which sends out magical blasts of wind. In one event, she explains that it wouldn't do for someone of her stature to be seen carrying a weapon around, but she still needed something for self-defense, hence why she chose to weaponize something easily concealable like a fan.

Dian Farrell

Voiced by: Yudai Mino

A brash young man from Faurre in the Nemed region. He is a new playable character in the series.

• Blood Knight: Dian actually enjoys fighting. In one scene, he explains that there's a tradition in Faurre where you pray to a sacred tree for safe passage through the forest... which he makes sure not to do, to ensure that he does encounter monsters.
• Tribal Face Paint: Tribal-style marks on the face and body seem to be common among the people of Faurre, Dian's hometown.

Kala Ideas

Voiced by: Hina Yomiya

An Oren, and the leader of the Wave Tuner clan. She is a new playable character in the series and is old enough to have fought in the war during the Age of God.

• Full-Name Basis: Other characters tend to say Kala Ideas' full name when referring to her.
• Lunacy: Kala's Fatal Drive, Lunar Judgment, has her call upon the power of the moon to smite her enemies.
• Mutually Exclusive Power-Ups: Kala can carry either a Light Spirit (which recovers her health when using skills) or a Dark Spirit (which consumes health when using skills and items to increase damage). The two spirit types can't coexist, so you have to choose whether to have her gain health, or deal extra damage at the cost of health.
• Older Than They Look: Even by Oren standards, Kala is much older than she appears. Despite her child-like appearance, she's by far the oldest party member. In fact, Kala is the Elder of the Wave Tuner clan, and is old enough that even Lila, who herself is Really 700 Years Old, shows deference to her.

Returning Supporting Cast

Serri Glaus

Voiced by: Yukiyo Fujii

A member of Lila and Kilo's people, who in the previous game was trying to collect a seed to purify her homeworld.

A travelling merchant who Ryza works with once again.
