Act 1: The Comedy of Errors

Prologue: Dark Contract with the Eternal Darkness
  • Grand Lorde Guignol's Establishing Character Moment: After talking with Vision in regards to stick to the plan, she announces herself in Large Ham mode as she proclaims how she does not have everything she needs to create a fantastic show. Then, just as Obelisk Force is about to attack her, she reveals that she's a distraction before her audience is murdered by three adorable children wearing white cloaks. She then ends it with a declaration that all hell is going to break loose.
Guignol: The Grand Lorde Guignol and her trusty puppets are off! It’s time to break some legs!
(cue cackle as she vanishes to her next destination)
  • Just the fact that there's a bunch of people who are planning to take Rin and Ruri away before their canonical fate and they actually have a plan as to how they do it.

     Chapter 1: Puppet Ritual
  • This entire chapter can essentially be summarized as this, "Do not fuck with the Grand Lorde Guignol."
  • The flashback reveals how Yvonne Maxa (age 8) will eventually grow up to be Grand Lorde Guignol. After being kidnapped by the man (Viren) who sent her older brother (Xavier) into a coma, she's watching in fear as her puppets are about to be incinerated as a major Kick the Dog moment before Viren kills her. Yvonne screams for someone to help her...and it's revealed that her puppets come to life and help kill Viren and his thugs.
    • While the puppets kill off Viren's thugs by themselves, it's Yvonne who helps kill off Viren when she obtains the powers to create marionette strings and tugs them so that her puppets thrust a spear into his throat.
      • After Yvonne gets over how her puppets are alive and have murdered people, she decides to cut her hair (which was covered in Viren's blood) as a statement that she'll work hard so that innocent people don't end up being hurt. And her first order of business? Ask one of her puppets (that looks like Yuya) to help burn the warehouse that Viren kidnapped her. Yeah, this is one girl not to fuck with.
  • Guignol makes her entrance by bursting into a class filled with Osiris Red students. She then lulls them to distraction with a story before slicing the teacher's throat before summoning a monster to block the way out. To amp it up, she starts singing Amanda Jessen's "Carnival" before the scene ends with a multitude of screams as she and three of her four puppets start a massacre.
Guignol: (singing) "Hammer man you make me dull, I'm going to the carnival. I'll sit beside and watch them play."
    (cue Slasher Smile)
"It's gonna be an awful day."
  • When confronted with Sora, Guignol does not give a damn who he is. When an Obelisk Force soldier tries to attack her with an Ancient Gear Fist, Puppet Yuya slices it in half while declaring that anyone hurting Guignol will suffer. Guignol then cleans up the bodies of all that she killed with a Cemetery Bomb.
  • The first Action Duel of the story takes place in the Grand Guignol and Guignol utterly trounces Sora with his own specialty: Fusion Summoning.
    • Guignol is utterly unfazed with Sora — whose last duel was against Shun Kurosaki — and his Frightfur monsters. She spends the entire duel either bored out of her mind, making sarcastic lines, singing, quoting Dante of Sparda, having small talk with her puppets or watching Sora succumb to madness thanks to an Action Card. The only time she gets serious is when she asks Sora if he's happy with how he's a pawn to Academia.
Guignol: “Tell me, Sora. When you look back at all of the blood that you and Academia has spilled over the destruction of Heartland...how the hell do you sleep at night knowing that this little game has brought amount endless amounts of suffering?”
    • Her puppets are integral in finding the Action Card needed for Guignol to land the final blow against Sora.
    • The final score: Sora: 0, Guignol: 8000. That's right, Sora was unable to land a single scratch on Guignol's lifepoints.
  • After the duel is over Sora shows that he won't back down so easily when Guignol asks to join her and her puppets. But Guignol has one more trick up her sleeve.
Sora: There’s no way in hell that I’ll be working for you! (slaps Guignol's hand away) I rather be carded than join in on your offer.
Guignol: Well, that’s where you’re wrong. You won’t be working for me; you’ll be working with me.
    Sora: What's the difference?!
(cue Guignol's puppets — Puppet Yuya, Yuto and Yugo — laughing maniacally as Guignol removes a glove)
Guignol: Sora Shiunin...Do you wanna be a friend?!
    (cue Sora screaming)
  • The final scene of the chapter has Willow successfully poisoning Yuri and having another person, Brother Nero, take him away. This is after she tells Yuri that Ruri is safe from harm and giving him a boop on the nose.
    • Brother Nero apparently won a duel against a Cyber Dragon user.

    Chapter 2: Dark Renewal
  • Willow makes her debut skipping alongside Puppet Yuri after she slaughtered Academia students with her parasol and while reciting "The Jabberwocky". Puppet Yuri then goes to save Ruri by using his urumi to slice the heads off two Ra Yellow soldiers without harming Ruri.
    • Willow deflecting Celina's punch with her parasol and then announcing how their duel begins by reciting this well known Jeff Hardy quote:
Willow: (cue laugh) I'll fade away and classify myself as obsolete! OBSOLETE!
  • Vision apparently is able to make a portal from Academia to wherever she, Willow, Brother Nero and Guignol come from!
  • Willow (May) duels Celina in an utter Curb-Stomp Battle. Celina Fusion Summons Lunalight Cat Dancer and plays Lunar Eclipse. The former cannot be destroyed in battle and the latter makes her immune to Spell and Trap effects until the end of May's turn. How does Willow get around it? By summoning Vampire Vamp to take control of Lunalight Cat Dancer because the Fusion monster is not immune to monster effects!
    • Serena tries to Fusion Summon again, but Willow plays Vampire Domination to negate the activation and then end the duel without a scratch on her eithernote
  • What we get to see of Brother Nero (Brendan)'s duel against Ryo Marufuji: faced off against Cyber End Dragon and three Cyber Dragons while only having 500 lifepoints left, Brendan Synchro Summons Shiranui Sunsaga, uses its effect to return any of his Shiranui Synchro monsters that are either banished or in the graveyard back to his Extra Deck to destroy Ryo's monsters and then ends it with a direct attack! He then has Ryo carded before unleashing an Evil Laugh.
  • After Guignol gets Rin to safety, she's about to leave. But she senses someone and without turning around, she knows who's there.
Guigno: Yusho Sakaki...I knew you'd come.

    Chapter 3: Attack the Moon!

    Chapter 6: Illusion Magic
  • Dawn duels against an alternate version of Seto Kaiba and wins. If that's not awesome enough, let's get into some of the finer details.

    Chapter 7: Changing Destiny
  • Mieru duels Ash in an Action Duel involving ravens, lightning and ominous fortune-telling.
    • Ash unleashing the power of Wattaildragon and even riding on his back to fight Mieru.
    • Mieru is able to get the upperhand despite not being used to the Thunder Mesa Action Field and its abilities by showing off a Prediction Princess Fusion Monster to defend herself from Ash's assault.
    • Ash revealing that he doesn't only use Watt monsters by Synchro Summoning Mist Wurm.

    Chapter 8: Against the Wind
  • Rin and Ruri team up against Miette and Kelly, especially since they give off a good showing compared to their canonical counterparts.
    • Rin combines the effect of her Windwitch monsters with Dark Room of Nightmare (it inflicts an additional 300 points of damage every time you inflict effect damage) so that by the time she finished her first turn, she already inflicted close to 4000 points of damage.
    • Ruri Xyz Summons Lyrilusc - Assembly Nightingale and with 5 Overlay Units on it, all it has to do is attack five times and Rin and Ruri win. Unfortunately for them, Kelly counters with Shrink so that Assembly Nightingale inflicts 2500 points of damage, keeping them in the game.
    • Kelly uses the healing effect of Dried Winds to destroy a monster on the field. Ruri counters that the Overlay Units on Assembly Nightingale makes her immune to destruction...before Kelly counters that she wasn't going for Assembly Nightingale, but to Windwitch - Crystal Bell instead!
    • Miette gets around Assembly Nightingale's anti-destruction effect by using the effect of Weather Thundery Canvas which doesn't target, but only works whenever Miette goes into battle.

Chapter 9: Maiden of the Aqua
  • Ayu Ayukawa learning how to Synchro Summon. Her only duel in the anime showed that she had lots of promise so the fact that she can get Synchro Summoning so quickly proves she has talent.
    • The fact that she proudly tries to challenge Yusei Fudo to a duel should be added (even if their duel was just so Ayu can get the basics of Synchro Summoning down.
    • In a 3 vs 3 duel against Obelisk Force. Misty and Carly utterly destroy their opponents. Ayu? She finishes it off by summoning her Earthbound Immortal with an utterly chilling line.
Ayu: Would you please...Die for Me?!

    Chapter 10: Change of Heart
  • Yuzu deciding to give Yvonne a taste of her medicine by slapping her in the face. Yvonne, on the other hand, does not react with anything except undiluted snark despite the fact that her cheek is swollen red from the strikes.

Chapter 11: Escape From the Dark Dimension
  • Saki, Yvonne, Sora, Ruri and the Puppet Yus decide to slaughter Obelisk Force members while singing "Happyland"
    • Prior to that, Yvonne sings the first verse of "I'm the Bad Guy" to describe the type of girl she is.
    • Saki — while reprimanding her daughter to stop "spreading lies" — has defeated two Obelisk Force soldiers through the use of Dark World monsters, even getting to Special Summon Reign-Beaux through a good use of Dark Bribe.
Saki: (after she has four Dark World monsters on her field) Give my regards to the Red Queen, boys. (Crack knuckles)
  • Edo duels Max in an Action Duel with high stakes — especially since Max proclaims that he will not use an Action Card the entire duelnote . It's an intense duel with an utterly satisfying finish: Max attacks directly with Toon Dark Magician Girl, but Edo notes that it's impossible because Max has no Toon World on the field. Max falls into despair that Edo is correct....but then points out Toon Dark Magician Girl is the only Toon that doesn't need Toon World to attack directly. Cue Edo's mad scramble to find an Action Card, only to have Max grab it, because Max said he won't play Action Cards so grabbing them from Edo is still fair game.
    Max: That's all folks!

    Chapter 12: Backfire
  • Shirobara defeats an Obelisk Force Soldier by placing it in Defense Mode then using the effect of Black Rose Dragon to make it go back to Attack Mode and drop its attack to 0. She then reveals that she was dueling so many Obelisk Force soldiers just so she can distract them from a powerful spell that would turn all of Obelisk Force into her mindless soldiers.
  • Cilan, Chili and Cress's duel against three Obelisk Force soldiers. Those three never stood a chance.
    • Cilan decides to use his Kaijus to devour his opponent's monster before summoning one on his field. Then he plays Owner's Seal to take Gameciel back to his side. Cue two humongous monsters obliterating the first opponent.
Cilan: Remember folks, no matter how big you are...there is always someone bigger.
    • Taking a page out of Power Rangers, Chili Xyz Summons all of the Super Quant Xyz Monsters to obliterate his target. Then, he combines them to Xyz Summon the Rank 12 Super Quntal Mech King Great Magnus.
    • Last, Cress Accel summons Arcanite Magician /Assault Mode and has him and Night End Sorceress attack directly.
  • After the duel is over, two Obelisk Force soldiers are ready to slice Dawn's throat. Dawn's response? She squeezes the hand holding the knife before ripping the arm out.
  • The debut of Jaden Yuki and Jesse Andersen in this story as the Supreme King and Prince of the Dark Crystal. Things are getting serious now.
  • Rin trying to stop Yugo by having her bracelet unleash a new power: freezing him! Of course, it doesn't last long but at least we know now that the bracelets aren't that useless.
  • Brendan taking charge and telling Hilbert and Hilda to take Rin and Yuri to safety, transforming his guitar into a Duel Disk. Hilda then proceeds to use a smoke bomb so she and her brother can take the two away.
    • After Synchro Summoning Shiranui Skillsaga, he plays Zombie Necronize to take control of Clear Wing Synchro Dragon all while laughing madly.
    • Brendan could have defeated Yugo easily if he banished Speedroid Tri-Eyed Dice with Book of Life (if Yugo banished it, then it negates the attack from said brainwashed Synchro Dragon) but he gives an elaborate observation as to why he did't.
    • He then questions Yugo about how he's been completely brainwashed by Zarc and then drops this line, suggesting something bigger is at play:
Brendan: What you showed back there, when you dismissed your ties with Rinrin. Rinrin was your entire life. You went out of your way to go after her. You would travel through Hell itself just to see her face again.
Yugo: That was the old me, before I reunited with Father and my brothers. En-Winds means nothing to me except that she must be slain so that my family will not be separated again.
Brendan: This isn’t the real you. Zarc has warped your mind and senses into believing that this is the way things should be. But it isn’t. If he was truly your father, why doesn’t he accept Rin as part of your life?
Yugo: Because that is what he has told us! Only his words are to be believed because he knows what is right. He opened our eyes to the truth about what has happened, about who caused our suffering! We gave up our very lives to return to his loving embrace, into his comforting voice and into his control. That is all we need!
Brendan: You’re acting just like Academia now.
Yugo: Leave them out of this! They are fools; they are lead by a heartless man who thinks of himself as a savior. An absolutely selfish specimen of the human race!
Brendan: And what about your precious Father? He’s no better than —
Yugo: SILENCE! Father knows what is best and Yuto, Yuya and I will follow his word. He reunited us, filled our hearts with his loving control, brought us back into his life with his will.
Brendan: Zarc doesn’t have that power. For all he is capable of, even he cannot revive the dead. Who’s the true mastermind here? Who gave him that power?!
    • Yugo counteracting Brendan's monsters by Xyz Summoning Black Mirror Xyz Dragon.
    • Brendan Link Summons Shiranui Style Supremacy and uses every contingency plan with his Synchro monsters to pull off a victory...until Yugo plays Change of Heart to take control of Brendan's Link monster and plays Galaxy Cyclone to destroy Brendan's Ghosts of the Past (which if it activated, it would've reduced one of Yugo's monster's ATK to 0)
      • And even when Yugo decides to brainwash him, Brendan doesn't hide or cry. He hastily sends a message to his siblings before Yugo plays Change of Heart, not wanting Yugo have the luxury of seeing him break.
  • Hilbert and Hilda do a Go Through Me to two Obelisk Force soldiers so Rin can chase after Yuri.

    Chapter 13: Rogue Doll
  • This chapter has the most duels yet with a total of five: Lusamine, Mokuba, Ash, Serenity and Trip/Bianca get to show their stuff here.
  • First off, Lusamine, wielding an Entity deck, Xyz Summons Outer Entity Azathot to annihilate her two opponents before Synchro Summoning Old Entity Hastorr to attack directly.
  • Second, Ash duels against Sherry LeBlanc. Before they officially duel, Ash coldly shows off how he's not interested in Sherry by telling her this:
Ash: Je m'appelle Ash Ketchum. Va te faire forte."note
    • Upon facing Sherry's Vylon deck, and is just one attack away from losing thanks to Sherry's overpowered Vylon Delta, Ash needs enough cards to play Magical Stone of Excavation (As it's the only card in his hand). What does he draw? Thunder Seahorse, which allows him to banish it to take two LIGHT Thunder-type monsters with less than 1500 ATK from his deck to his hand. With enough cards, he plays Magical Stone of Excavation to bring back Wattkey from his graveyard. And with that, he commands Wattaildragon to attack directly and win the duel.
    • After the duel is over, Ash sees that Vylon Delta is still on the field and still powered up by Megamorph. Ash quickly uses Wattcube — which increases a Thunder-type monster's ATK by 100 for every Thunder monster in his graveyard — to give his monster an additional 1000 attack points. The scene then ends with Ash telling Sherry to "Burn in Hell" in French.
      • Prior to that, Ash states that Sherry is nothing more than a fool to surrender her free will to Zarc.
  • Rin has to chase Yuri to the gardens and is unable to stop Zarc from completely putting Yuri under his spell. But before her life ends right there and then, Mokuba comes to save her just in time before he goes into battle with Yusuke Fujiwara and must duel him to save Rin (now trapped in a Crystal Seal).
    • The final turn has Yusuke trying to brainwash Mokuba's Stellarknight Triverr...except Mokuba was expecting that and plays Trojan Blast, inflicting damage to Yusuke's lifepoints equal to Trivver's ATK. With Yusuke only having 1800 to Trivver's 2100 ATK, the duel is over.
      • Prior to that, Yusuke tries to break Mokuba down about how bonds with other people ultimately lead to suffering. Mokuba does not buy it at all.
Yusuke: Do you see how horrifying bonds can be? That despite putting your heart and soul into them, the people you bind with will forget about you. Or worse, they pretend to be your friend only to stab you in the back just when you think things couldn't be better!
    Mokuba: ...
Yusuke: What’s wrong? Upon seeing how I have taken something close to you, you’ve found yourself frozen in fear? That by losing, Rin’s life is snuffed out like a candle flame?
    Mokuba: ...
Yusuke: Answer me! What is wrong with you?!
Mokuba: Nothing is wrong with me, What’s wrong is you and your ideas of making fun of the bonds people make. And because you can’t learn to move on with your trauma, you resort to selling yourself to Zarc and using underhanded tactics because you don’t have the gall to face reality.
    • When Yusuke is about to rip Crystal Seal in half to prevent Rin's escape, Zarc intervenes with putting Yusuke into a trance. He may be the Supreme King who has an unseen goal, and an utter hatred to Ray and her counterparts, but he knows that Mokuba won the duel fair and square...but then he plays a Flute of Summoning Dragon to make Mokuba transform into his dragon form to attack Rin so he makes a quick escape.
  • Serenity must duel against Yuto to give Ash time to rescue Yuzu. And if you thought she'd be the same girl from when she dueled in the anime, you thought wrong. Why? Because she's packing an Orcust deck!
    • Upon having Orcustrion on the field, she decides to reduce Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon's ATK to 0 and negate its effects. Had it not been for Yuto's face-down card, she would've destroyed it on that turn alone.
    • Yuto counters Serenity's monsters by equipping his dragon with Xyz Crown (converting its Rank into a Level) and playing a Tuner so he can ''Synchro Summon' a new monster: Spectral Wing Synchro Dragon.
    • Serenity pushes Yuto to a corner by Xyz Summoning Dingirsu, Orcust of the Evening Star and uses its ability to send the Synchro Dragon to the grave. If Yuto didn't play a card that didn't let him deal direct damage to Serenity on his next turn, Serenity would've won.
  • From what we see of Trip and Bianca's Action Duel against Obelisk Force, Bianca Xyz Summons Mermail Abyssgaios and attacks an Obelisk Force soldiers. Said Obelisk Force soldier — whose Ancient Gear Golem is equipped with Ancient Gear Fist — uses Miracle to save his monster and then has Ancient Gear Fist destroy Bianca's monster...but Bianca knew that would happen and plays Torrential Rebirth to revive her monster and inflict 500 points of damage to her opponent's lifepoints, winning the duel.
    • Unlike most defeats, the Obelisk Force soldiers are not carded, killed or brainwashed. Instead, Trip transforms them into dogs with Creature Seizure and DNA Surgery. He made Obelisk Force his bitches.

    Chapter 14 and 14.5: Big Win?!/Full House
  • Hilbert and Hilda's duel ends with Hilda Fusion Summoning Fire Fist - Swan and using the opponent's Fusion Trench to attack directly. When Obelisk Force tries to use Blazing Mirror Force, Hilda uses the effect of Fire Fortress Atop Liang Peak to offer two 'Fire Fist' Counters so the opponent can't activate their cards or effects like they use Ancient Gears on others. Essentially, Hilda Beat Them at Their Own Game!
  • Brendan and May's brief naginata and umbrella spar, with Brendan singing the first verse of "Similar Creatures" before May ends it with a Mind Crush!
  • Barry defeats his Obelisk Force opponents by Synchro Summoning F.A. Motorhome Transport and powering it with Limiter Removal!
  • Yvonne shows how scary she can be: when Sora assumes that she forgave him for all his atrocities — which is after Yuya and Yuto point out that if he didn't duel Yuto in order to goad Shun for a rematch, Yuya, Yuto and Yugo would still be alive and not brainwashed drones to Zarc — Yvonne gives a warning that shows that you do not fuck with this girl.
Yvonne: Just because I transformed you doesn’t mean I forgive you for everything you did. Forgiveness does not come easily — those who deserve forgiveness will be granted it. And, let me tell you something my little poppet—
(Yvonne pats Sora's shoulder...then squeezes his neck)
Yvonne: When it comes to people I despise, I don’t give out forgiveness that easily. I don’t forgive people who have committed the atrocities of paralyzing people, making them unable to move on their own. I will never ever forgive the man who sent my brother into a coma, and I will never show mercy on Academia as a whole! To paralyze someone is one thing, rendering them into a coma for spite is another...but going under the misguided belief of turning people into cards for the sake of a perfect utopia, recklessly separating families forever and even going as far as to treat it all like a game of sport?! Every single speck of Academia is gonna BURN IN HELL if I have anything to say about it!
    • She then proceeds to stomp on Sora's head with a boot to emphasize that, no, she's not forgiving Sora that easily.
  • Ash suggests that Yuya duels Yusho to prove that Yuya has the right to murder Yusho...then ups the ante so that Yusho duels Yuya and Zarc at the same time. Then Yvonne tops that by bringing herself into the duel, extending her hand out to Yusho.
    Yvonne: Shall we dance?
Yusho: (stares at Yvonne before taking her hand) Let's Dance, Yvonne.
  • The main event of this chapter: Yuya Sakaki and Zarc vs Yvonne Maxa and Yusho Sakaki in an Action Duel. And the Action Field? Carnival of Souls.
Yvonne: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and ghouls...step right up! Behind this curtain lies a ghastly concoction of delight, horror, fantasy and terror!
Yuya: Your every wish is our command, your every whimsical desire brought to life.
Yusho: But I'm warning you, there's always a price.
Zarc: Welcome to the GREATEST SHOW UNEARTHED!!
    • The duel begins with Yvonne and Yuya dashing to find an Action Card, in the hands of a skeleton acting as a ticket taker. Yuya tries to cut Yvonne's neck open, but Yvonne dodges in time. It prevents her from obtaining an Action Card first, but it shows quick thinking on her part.
    • Yuya unleashes a new archetype called Nightmare Mirror with twisted circus versions of important figures in his life from Shuzo to his mother to his pets!
    • Zarc one-ups Yuya by summoning his deck: Dragon Vassals which are Draconic Humanoid versions of YGO characters.
    • Yusho's first turn has him unleash Performapal Sky Magician. And just summoning him weakens Zarc's control on Yuya slightly. He then shows that he now has Pendulum Monsters by showing off Performapal Changeraffe! He then unleahses the first attack on Zarc's monsters, except Zarc's Spell and Trap Cards prevent his monster's destruction the first time each Battle and any damage to his lifepoints is halved: one half becomes an ATK/DEF increase to the targeted monster and the other half becomes lifepoints!
    • Yvonne showing that she's not scared of Yuya at all, showing off a flippant attitude at his threats.
Yuya: I activate the Pendulum Effect of Nightmare Mirror Daredevil! If I control two ‘Nightmare Mirror’ monsters, she can destroy one of my opponent's cards and then she can take her place on stage! So, I'll use that effect to destroy El Shaddoll Winda and —
Yvonne: You can’t. I hate to burst your bubble gum, actually I don't, but El Shaddoll Winda is immune to destruction by you and your sugar daddy’s card effects.
Yuto: What did she just call Father?! PAY FOR YOUR INSULTS, PUPPET BITCH!
Yvonne: (to the toy mouse on her shoulder) Did you hear something, Licorice? You did? What did you hear? ...Oh, you heard a bunch of bullshit? My word, that sounds dreadful!
    • Yuya — riding Nightmare Mirror Pendulum Dragon — attacking Yvonne — riding the dragon from El Shaddoll Winda — in the Hall of Mirrors. Yvonne tries to counter with a Trap Card that would've destroyed him, but Yuya counters with an Action Card that sends her trap flying and utterly wrecks the Hall of Mirrors and unleashes more than 4000 points of damage alone.
    • Yvonne uses her strings to prevent Yuya from getting an Action Card all while El Shaddoll Construct counteracts Zarc's Spell/Trap cards to prevent his monsters from being destroyed in battle.
    • Zarc tries to take control of Performapal Sky Magician...except Yusho uses the effect of Performapal Sky Pupil to switch places. Zarc then tries to control El Shaddoll Construct...but Yvonne is one-step ahead and uses an Action Card so Sky Pupil's ATK is equal to El Shaddoll Construct's, destroying them both! This is all topped with Yusho's epic one-liner.
Yusho: Rule number one of magic: It's all about deception.
    • While Yvonne goes to The Euphemismnote , Yusho holds the fort by using Performapal Doll Maestra (a monster that looks similar to Yvonne) to take control of all of Zarc's monsters. He then sings the second half of "The Circus Comes to Town" before unleashing a new trick up his sleeve...
Yusho: I can see that you [Yuya] are already a master in this type of dueling, but have you learned other methods while I was away?
Yuya: I’ve learned how to Fusion Summon with my Pendulum monsters, if that’s what you’re implying.
Yusho: Not bad. Now answer this question…Have you learned the art of Xyz Summoning?
(cue everyone in the audience and both Yuya and Zarc looking in shock)
Yusho: Presenting a Yusho Sakaki Special for the first time anywhere, prepare yourselves as I set the Overlay Network!
    • Yusho's Xyz Monsters then proceed to destroy Zarc's Spells and Trap cards and lets Performapal Sky Magician attack three times in a row!
    • Yuya plays a Spell Card Paraphernalia Wagon, which essentially replicates the sequence from its source material, sour-sweet wind and all. Yvonne, knowing what's coming, decides to challenge Yuya.
Yvonne: "Do you worse, bring out your spooks! Shoot the works, we WILL NOT FLINCH!"
    • Follow this, the story replicates the first half of the Paraphernalia Wagon sequence before Yvonne and Yusho have to escape into a Funhouse.
    • Upon facing off against Yuya's new dragon, Yusho plays an Action Card to make the attack a direct attack...then plays Performapal Kuriborhder so the dragon has to attack it instead. Yes, Yuya destroys it...but when Performapal Kuriborhder is destroyed, Yusho and Yvonne gain lifepoints equal to the difference to their attack points!
Yusho: (in a very disappointed tone) What did I say? It's all about deception.
  • Yvonne's final turn of the duel. Yes, this is so awesome that she needs her own section.
    • Yvonne plays Curse of the Shadow Prison (summoning a Spellstone Counter every single time a "Shaddoll" monster is sent to her graveyard by effect) before revealing two monsters — Pendulum monsters.
Yvonne: Ladies and gentlemen, I set the Pendulum Scale!
    • Summoning Shaddoll Zefracore and Shaddoll Zefrinaga, she uses the monsters she Pendulum Summoned and turns it into a Link Summon. And through the Link Summon, she is capable of Fusion summoning twice using the Spellstone Counters to take Yuya's Nightmare Mirror Fire-Juggler for the last one.
    • Thanks to Shaddoll Beast in the graveyard, Yvonne plays a new card. Wavering Eyes! And by destroying all Pendulum monsters on the field (hers and Yuya's) she can use all four of its effects to cripple Yuya and Zarc.
    • Yvonne then fuses one more Shaddoll monster. Which one? El Shaddoll Wendigo. For those who don't understand, Wendigo is known as the worst El Shaddoll monster. But combining its effect with El Shaddoll Construct's, she's able to destroy Nightmare Mirror Pendulum Dragon (whose ATK doubles if it fights off a monster with a higher ATK than itself) without worry of losing her own monster.
    • Really, had it not been from Zarc's intervention at the near end, Yvonne would've knocked down Yuya and his lifepoints to around 300. Do not fuck with the Grand Lorde Guignol.
  • Final turn of the duel: Zarc unleashes a Pendulum Fusion monster known as Supreme Dragon Vassal of the Soulless Heavens which is essentially a Dragon Vassal of Zarc himself bathed in an angelic (yet deadly) light.
    • Because he used four of his original Dragon Vassals, he can activate effects to destroy practically every single monster Yvonne and Yusho have (Except El Shaddoll Construct, mostly because Zarc wants to crush it himself) and uses its effect damage ability to win the duel...except Yusho has one more trick up his sleeve to banish Performapal Visionfairy (whom he discarded for Doll Maestra) to keep the duel going.
    • And just before Zarc can attack...the duel segues into an unexpected ''carousel fight over an Action Card''.
  • Carousel Fight: Yuya knife fights Yvonne on the top of the carousel while Yusho and Zarc sword fight on the carousel itself. All while the four sing "American Gothic" and having Yvonne and Yusho literally kicking their opponents in the face! Yes, all of this happens.
    • Yuya retrieves the Action Card (No Action) and ends the brawl with Yvonne by wrapping his dragon tail around her waist (It Makes Sense in Context) and causing her to fall to her doom. Fortunately, Yvonne saves herself by wrapping herself in a thread cocoon.
    • Zarc ends the duel by using his Pendulum effects to power his monster up and then negate the effect of Yvonne's Electromagnetic Turtle to end the Battle Phase. Three guesses what happens to El Shaddoll Construct.
  • The final scene of the chapter has Yusho Sakaki staring eye-to-eye with Wiraqocha Rasca as if he was off to fight Strong Ishijima. This is the leader of the Earthbound Immortals that he's confronting and Yusho does not give two shits who he is. He's not wallowing in his anger or mistakes and is accepting his fate of a Dark Signer without hesitation.
