Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

For Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon:

  • Base-Breaking Character: Upon its reveal, Lycanroc's new form caused a bit of a stir. Many fans love it for combining the best traits of both forms while adding a nice new color scheme, while others think its a lazy rehash of Midday Lycanroc. However, it's generally agreed to look more aesthetically pleasing than both forms, combining the familiar form of Midday as well as the mane and abnormal colors similar to Midnight. Plus, its existence could potentially indicate the coming of new Alolan forms, among others.

I'm going to guess that Base-Breaking Character follows similar rules to Broken Base and say that it's way too soon to add that. The news isn't even a day old.

[up] Pretty much. Same reasoning too. We don't treat first impression reactions as an actual proper consensus of issues people have(or lack of issues, etc). YMMV has many cases where waiting is the only way to avoid complaining/putting up information that hasn't had time to really let people figure out how they feel.

Not that everything doesn't have haters, obviously, but that's beside the point.

Please add to The Bible:

  • Treachery Is a Special Kind of Evil:
    • Judas's betrayal of Jesus, as recounted in The Four Gospels of The Bible. This betrayal was arguably necessary, as in Christian doctrine Jesus had to die to wash away mankind's sins, but Judas still has a My God, What Have I Done? moment followed by (in one account) a Driven to Suicide moment shortly thereafter.
    • In Mark 13:12 this is considered a sign of the end of the world:
Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.

Hello, I would like a request an edit to a part of the Real Life section for Moral Guardians in the Toys section. The part that needs changing is this:

"The Lion and Lamb Project is the counterpart for children's toys. The main problem with their crusade against immoral toys is the massive lack of research involved in their tirades; the group constantly claims that various toys were marketed at children simply because of the "Ages 3 and Up" approval rating on all toys (which is the result of a safety test, not a demographic statement). They went straight into Cowboy Be Bop at His Computer territory by claiming that a Transformers toyline was clearly designed to tie in to The Matrix despite the fact that the two franchises have no corporate connection and only shared the unimportant background premise of a background Big Bad draining energy from living beings. Their lists of "recommended" toys make it clear that they think that toys are never, ever made for anybody older than 4 or so despite the blatant pandering to collectors' markets in many toylines. Their website has not been updated in years, possibly due to the increasing irrelevance of physical toys."

I posted this on the page's discussion earlier, but I'll elaborate again - The website no longer exists as of 2015, and appears to have become a Swedish gambling site (while keeping the name Lion Lamb). I would request someone to update it. Here's an example:

"The Lion and Lamb Project, an organization active from 1997 to circa 2011, was this towards children's toys. The main problem with their crusade against immoral toys was their massive lack of research involved in their tirades - the group constantly claims that various toys were marketed at children simply because of the "Ages 3 and Up" approval rating on all toys (which is the result of a safety test, not a demographic statement). They went straight into Cowboy Be Bop At His Computer territory by claiming that a Transformers toyline was clearly designed to tie in to The Matrix, despite the fact that the two franchises have no corporate connection and only shared the unimportant background premise of a background Big Bad draining energy from living beings. Their lists of "recommended" toys makes it quite clear the people behind the project though toys were not designed for people who aren't kids, despite the blatant pandering to collectors' markets in many toylines. Possibly due to the increasing irrelevance of physical toys, their website became inactive around 2013, and stayed this way until a Swedish gambling company by the name of LionLamb bought the domain."

You can post an edit here, formatted exactly like it would be placed on the page. The mods can open the post to get at the formatting.

The Vampire Diaries specifically had a very poor editor hitting it repeatedly over time, including socks. Opening it before hasn't been successful.

First off, please lock Resident Evil and add it to Video Games for works with their own pages.

Next, from here:

  • Agnes goes to DC Comics (Vertigo).
  • Drindle goes to Film F To J.
  • Sam and Sayle both go to Film P To Z.
  • ET Killer and Caleb rewrite both go to Literature A To F.
  • Machison and Aurang rewrite both go to Literature M To Z.
  • Vaughn rewrite goes to Live Action TVA To L.
  • Martial Law entry and the Walker tree (replacing the current entry) go to Live Action TVM To Z (and yes, I'm aware Cliff's there twice).
  • Alaric goes at the end of the Heroes of Might and Magic tree (same branch as the other Heroes V entries) at Video Games A To K.
  • At Video Games L To Z, please cut the Resident Evil stuff (since the series has its own subpage); replace the Suikoden tree with the new tree; and replace the Xeno entries with the tree.

Thanks smile

16309: That thread is used to vet redirect ideas before they're brought here. As for the requests: searching "Never Trust a Cover" in Google literally has Covers Always Lie as the first result, so there's not much of a benefit there. Did create the redirect for Never Trust A Poster, Height Complex, and Height Envy, though, since they have a good number of non-TVT search results.

16310, 16314, and 16315: Done

16312: It's not going to be unlocked, but you can create a Sandbox for all the changes you'd like to make. Once done, you can post here and ask that it be replaced.

Requesting Main.Demigod to be a disambiguation for Divine Parentage and VideoGame.Demigod, because it's a known term for a half-human, half-god, and there's the Video Game.

Corrected its wicks.

The term is even used in Divine Parentage's description:

If the divine side is dominant or prominent, then you tend to get a demigod.

Requesting Divine Ancestry to redirect to Semi-Divine, 'cause it was a thing for the Slightly Damned and its Characters page, until I corrected them.

Also, should Divine Lineage redirect to Semi-Divine as well? Because the current redirect to Divine Parentage doesn't really fit, because Lineage can go further back than just parents.

I checked all the wicks.

Add to Political Correctness Gone Mad, under the impacting stories category for Comic Strips:

  • Retail:
    • One story line has Grumbel's dealing with fallout after listing Christmas trees as 'holiday trees' in their ad. The worst part was it was an accident: someone made a proofreading error.
    • A recurring plot in December comics is that the employees just can't win with holiday greetings. If they say 'Merry Christmas' someone gets offended. If they say 'Happy Holidays', someone gets offended. If they say nothing at all, someone gets offended. It's Played for Laughs in one strip: Stuart greets a customer with 'Merry Christmas', and when she looks horrified, he changes it to 'Happy Holidays'. In his head he grumbles about this trope, while she's horrified by his Christmas greeting because it's the second day of October.

In Donald Trump, the second paragraph refers to The Art of the Deal as a "novel". It would be more accurately categorised as a memoir/advice book.
