Coming at you with the D-Side remix!

Friday Night Funkin' D-Sides, also known as FNF D-Sides or just the D-Side mod, is a mod of Friday Night Funkin' that remixes all the tracks into new groovy tunes - like quite a lot of mods actually, including the one D-Sides derives its name from, B-Side Remixes. Unlike other remix mods, however, which just recolor or slightly modify the existing sprites for the characters, D-Sides gives everyone and everything new sprites with designs to match, ranging from slight tweaks to the original design, designs reminiscent to but distinct from the originals, to outright overhauling the original concepts.

Despite the changes, the plot is about the same: a dumbass rapper falls in love with a smoking hot yet equally dumb girl, her rockstar father wants the rapper nowhere near his daughter, and music battles ensue as the rapper fights her dad and the various other weirdos they come across.

Removed/Scrapped

FNF D-Sides contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Abomination:
    • In the base game, Monster was more of a Humanoid Abomination, and his threats in the song "Monster" were more comical. Chester is a three-legged and cherry-headed Cyclops with what look like teeth coming out of his torso, and his version of "Monster" contains more blunt, graphic descriptions of what he wants to do to Boyfriend and Girlfriend. Week 5 even adds a one eyed lemon shaped head accompanying him.
    • Inverted with Zeus' origins in comparison to Lord X. Lord X is an alien entity made of antimatter hailing from the VOID who found Sonic the Hedgehog and became obsessed with it enough to make himself a world based on it, whereas Zeus is a much more mundane god assigned to create SEGA's games who eventually took what he made and spruced it up a bit to suit his tastes when the company abandoned him.
  • Adaptational Context Change:
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: As per usual with remix mods, the characters' color schemes and costumes are changed all over the place. To wit:
    • Boyfriend's blue hair is changed to purple (with a darker spot from a botched dye job), he is wearing a tank top, and his clothes are now blue and purple rather than red and blue; the circle backslash symbol on his shirt is changed to a caution sign, and he has a piercing in his left ear.
    • Girlfriend goes from a long-haired brunette in a red dress to a pigtailed redhead in a shirt and pants. Similar to her parents, she is now wearing a jacket.
    • Daddy Dearest now has an actual suit and defined pants, rather than the open jacket and Long Pants his canon counterpart has. His hair is green, he has a beard, and his skin is also now red rather than purple.
    • Skid and Pump go from wearing skeleton and pumpkin costumes to vampire and ghost costumes, respectively.
    • Pico is dressed up like Cyclops from his home series, with a black leather jacket, pink mohawk, and a pink color contact in his right eye to mimic Cyclops' eyepatch. Cyclops himself also switches designs with Pico, with the same applying to Nene with Cassandra, Darnell with Alucard and Piconjo with Hanzo respectively.
    • Due to taking place in Easter, the Mall Santa is replaced with a guy in an Easter Bunny suit with yellow skin and a purple vest and bowtie. The suit itself is based on Glitchtrap, but is considerably chubbier than the lean and slim appearance Glitchtrap has. Additionally, as Springtrap, he appears the same, just now with a brown shirt bow tie.
    • Sensei is far more buff that Senpai, is wearing a purple jacket, and has purple jeans, alongside a blue bandana.
    • Dwayne is purple with thorned tendrils, instead of red like Spirit.
    • Planeman is now wearing a pilot helmet and aviator outfit, as well as a white cape.
    • The D-Sides equivalent to VS OURPLE GUY is instead the Ved Guy. Police Guy in Lore is also black, whereas the phone in the original Lore was red.
    • MatPat (now named Mack) is wearing a green shirt and a purple tie, and his hair is significantly messier.
    • Foxy is now blue and a thief with a black bandana, and Chica is now green, has an apron instead of a bib, and has a chef’s hat.
    • Tricky is now a jester, with him wearing a purple jester cap with bells, a frilled jester suit and a cracked comedy mask instead of his metal plate. His eyes also now glow yellow, his unmasked design resembles Scrapeface, and his demon form now has a yellow aura with bat wings.
    • Zardy, while a scarecrow in his game and mod of origin, is a grim reaper in this mod.
    • Hatsune Miku now has purple hair, and a more black and purple colour scheme than white and blue.
    • Hex is now stylised after a surfer, and his head is now a 90s computer monitor rather than an analog TV.
    • Carol now wears a tank top and ripped jeans, with her hair tied into a bun.
    • Whitty is now much more greaser themed, and his head is now a stick of dynamite rather than a bomb.
    • Hank now resembles the Sheriff from his home series, and now wears black shades instead of red.
    • Shaggy now resembles Fred Jones, and also now has a black jacket with turquoise sleeves, as well as a turquoise beanie.
    • Rather than being a sportsman, Matt is now a scientist from Miitopia.
    • The entire Vs. Impostor cast has changed colors, with Red becoming blue, Green becoming Maroon, Tomongus becoming white (and also a penguin instead of a hamster), Yarlowmando becoming orange, Xaphan becoming white, White becoming lime, Ash becoming red, Argent becoming brown, Penelope becoming cyan, Monotone becoming white, Chefogus becoming tan (and wearing a ninja headband instead of a chef's hat), Powers becoming green, Drippostor becoming red, Red Mungus becoming blue (and being renamed Blue Mungus), Warchief becoming red, Jelqer becoming white, Jorsawsee becoming yellow, Brown becoming black, JADS becoming cyan, Idk becoming pink, Dave becoming lime, Y Fronts becoming Yellow, Going2killevery1startingwithU becoming grey, Ow Red becoming purple, Cyan becoming orange, Loggo becoming neon yellow (and now based around Easter rather than Christmas), and Top 10 becoming blue. Additionally, the visors now have a different shape, and the Impostors are shown melting in their designs.
    • Pikachu is now red instead of yellow, the tip of its tail is instead a fireball, and his fur is messy, with a pastel yellow color for its stomach and feet. Bulbasaur is also white with black spots instead of teal, and the plant on its back is instead a heaving mass of blue crystals. Additionally, Squirtle and Charmander are now land-type and psychic-type Pokémon respectively, and then both are pink-lavender and red-brown color palates, with Squirtle now sporting a red headband.
      • Each Pokémon all have the following name changes as well: Pikachu is now named Pikaflare, Bulbasaur is now named Dimchuar, Charmander is now named Psymander, and Squirtle is now named Strotise. Similar name changes and design changes are also applied to their other evolutions.
    • Palossand (now named Palloswamp) is now made of mud rather than sand, has leaves all over its body, and has two sticks in place of the shovel.
    • Mordecai is now black instead of blue, Rigby is now a red panda instead of a raccoon, Benson is now a water cooler instead of a Gumball machine, Skips is now brown instead of white, Pops is now wearing a zoologist outfit, Muscle Man is now larger, and Hi-Five Ghost now has 3 hands instead of just one.
    • Skarlet Bunny is now primarily blue instead of red, and also has a more modest outfit, lacking her normal crop top.

    • Daisy now resembles a desert princess, wearing shorter clothes instead of a big dress, Rosalina now wears a combination of black and dark blue with a ponytail, and Pauline is now wearing pink with purple shoes.
    • Wario (which retroactively applies to WX) and Waluigi (which retroactively applies to Super Horror Waluigi) are now a miner and a demolitionist respectively, with Waluigi now having a pink shirt and lavender overalls with blue construction boots instead of his usual purple-black plumber attire. Wario also wears a yellow flannel shirt with lavender pants instead of a yellow shirt and purple overalls.
    • Yoshi (which also extends to YX999) is now red with elements from the Rex enemies, while Birdo is now cyan with a blue bow and a purple tail.
    • E. Gadd now has a full set of hair, and is wearing a blue suit instead of a white lab coat.
    • Geno is now purple with orange hair and a music note on his hat, and Mallow is now a stormcloud and wearing yellow.
    • Bowser and Bowser Jr are now far more draconic with a red and pink colour scheme and a blue cape/bandana.

    • GB now has a square hat like normal D-Sides Mario (which is also now purple), but is also wearing a purple suit with a square pattern on it, black pants, white shoes and a white collar. He’s also now based on the Super Mario Bros Super Show rather than Super Mario Land.
    • Alex Kidd (which retroactively applies to Scorched and Zeus' Alex form) now has blonde hair instead of brown hair, and he is now donned in purple.
    • Sonic (which also applies to TGT Sonic, Sunky and Luther), Tails (which also applies to Secret History Tails) and Knuckles (which retroactively applies to EXE and Starved Continuity Claws) now become purple with darker quills, brown with blue shoes, and green respectively. Tails also gains a black belt and goggles, while Knuckles now has red sunglasses on his head in his modern design. Sonic's super design also has him gain red eyes, and has him turn white.
      • Their modern variants also follow suit, though only 2 of them have real changes: Modern Sonic's fur is now blurple and his shoes have spiky soles underneath. His werehog form also has him turn a much darker shade of Purple, with his hands and stomach becoming yellow. Modern Knuckles remains the same as his conventional appearance in D-Sides, except he sports red sunglasses and has gray stripes across 2 of his spines.
      • In addition to this, not only have Sonic and Knuckles have swapped roles, with Sonic being the Master Emerald's guardian and Knuckles being a free-wheeling big brother to Tails, but Knuckles is now named "Claws" since rather than having spiked knuckles, he has extra-sharp claws on his hands & feet.
    • Scourge is now orange in color, and sports a scar on his left eye, with the tips of each of his quills darkened into a black color. He also wears a yellow jacket and yellow shoes with V-shaped tongues and X-shaped straps on the top of each shoe. His super design also has him gain yellow eyes, and has him turn grey.

Her modern design keeps the light blue fur and blue headband, but now gives her a white shirt with a Z on it, a pinkish-red ribbon tied around her waist, a blue skirt, and blue shoes with white lines on them.
    • Eggman (which retroactively applies to Robotnik) and Maria (which retroactively applies to Soul Maria) have swapped color pallets, with Eggman also gaining a white and yellow top hat and Maria gaining red glasses and a black dress. Maria takes on Eggman's major role in the franchise while Eggman himself becomes a hermit stranded on the Space Colony ARK. Their modern variants are also mostly the same, except Modern Eggman now has a blue shirt with navy blue overalls, and Maria's hair is longer and shaggier, while she wears a yellow vest similar to the regular Modern Eggman's jacket.
    • While Cubot remains rectangular-shaped true to his name, Orbot is now diamond-shaped. Additionally, both Orbot and Cubot have swapped color palates, their heads are white, their eyes are now simply bolts, and their mouthes are now yellow.
    • Dr. Gerald Robotnik now has a tuft of gray hair on him and he now sports long yellow gloves. He still remains Eggman's biological grandfather, though.
    • Dr. Starline is now magenta instead of gray, and his suit is white. He also gains a pair of sunglasses with yellow frames, and his power device attached to his glove is now a yellow gem.

    • With the 3.0 update that added Weeks 6 and 7, Sensei actually gets all three of the original week's songs to himself, while Spirit gets a new song in place of "Thorns", "Pricked".
  • Adaptational Gender Identity: Daddy Dearest, a cis man in the original game, is a trans man in this universe. He remains Girlfriend's biological father, as she was conceived through magic.
  • Adaptational Heroism: William Afton is merely the CEO of Fredbear's Family Diner in this universe as opposed to a villainous child murderer, thanks to his son never having died in this universe.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Downplayed/Played for Laughs; D-Sides Girlfriend only has three more IQ points than her canon counterpart as per Word of God. invoked
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Mack, MatPat's D-Side version, is an angry-looking Conspiracy Theorist and breaks into William Afton AKA Ved Guy's house to call him a child murderer (which William is completely innocent of in this universe) with Insane Troll Logic as his evidence during the events of "Lore".
  • Adaptational Job Change:
    • Instead of an at-home archetict, Lila is a paranormal scientist with a focus on plant experimentation.
    • Contrary to Mario, who is still a plumber in this universe, Luigi is a mechanic.
    • Instead of being sports players in plumber's attire, Wario and Waluigi are now both a miner and a demolitionist respectively.
  • Adaptational Location Change:
    • The base game's Week 4 took place on top of a limo during the daytime. This Week 4 takes place on top of a plane during sunset-to-nighttime.
    • The base game's Week 5 took place in a mall during the Christmas Season. This Week 5 takes place in a field during an Easter festival.
    • The original "Lore" took place on the stage from the base game's first week. The D-Sides version takes place in Ved Guy's house.
    • The original "Performance" took place on the stage from the Stage 01 minigame from Five Nights at Freddy's 3. The D-Sides version takes place in a kitchen.
    • The original "Too Slow" took place in the Hill Act 1 stage. The D-Sides version takes place in the Icy Isle.
    • The original "Cycles" took place in the Hide-And-Seek stage from Sonic PC Port. The D-Sides version takes place in a total of 4 different locations, each being a twisted version of a stage from the game whose main protagonist Zeus is currently taking the form of.
    • The original "Endless" took place in a forest. The D-Sides version takes place in the middle of a construction site.
    • The original "Milk" took place in a party room. The D-Sides version takes place in Robotnik's office.
    • The original "It's-A-Me" took place in a twisted version of a stage from Super Mario Bros.. The D-Sides version takes place in a twisted version of a stage from Mario Clash.
    • In the D-Sides universe, the events of Madness Combat take place in Florida instead of Nevada according to the Lore Document. "Improbable Outset" is now set in an abandoned fairground instead of the middle of the badlands.
    • The original "Foolhardy" took place in a corn maze. The D-Sides version takes place in a graveyard.
  • Adaptation Name Change:
    • The D-Sides version of Monster is a three legged cherry monster named Chester.
    • Senpai and Spirit are now Sensei and Dwayne.
    • Tankman and Steve are now Planeman and Sbeve.
    • As William Afton is red in this universe, he also goes by "Ved Guy" instead of "Ourple Guy".
    • MatPat instead goes by Mack, and his show is called "True Theory" instead of Game Theory due to him being a Conspiracy Theorist.
    • Knuckles is now named Claws due to having claws on his gloves (and also his shoes) instead of knuckle spikes.
    • Sky is now named Dusk, likely due to her darker color palette.
    • Satanos is now named Beelzevos, likely tied to his complete change in appearance.
    • Curse is now named Clover, as that is the official name by Curse's former owner Mad Man Haloween.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Unlike Senpai, Sensei's honorable demeanor is genuine, and he isn't trying to take Girlfriend away from Boyfriend; in fact, he's already married. He takes two songs to lose his temper rather than just one, and even when he does, he merely accuses Boyfriend of trying to steal his notebook rather than threatening to rip his nuts off. In fact, when someone did try to steal his notebook once, it was rumored he killed the thief, but in actuality just made them leave.
  • Adaptation Personality Change:
    • Super Horror Mario was a sadistic serial killer who gleefully tormented and killed anyone who entered his realm. Virtual.ROM, SHM's D-Sides counterpart, is The Aloner, wishing to simply be left in peace and the Nightmare Faces he pulls are simply to scare people away if they disrespect his wishes to be left alone.
    • Sky was an obsessive Yandere towards Boyfriend. Her D-Sides counterpart, Dusk, is instead obsessed with herself.
    • Satanos was a malevolent god who would ruthlessly kill his victims in the most brutal ways possible. His D-Sides counterpart, Beelzevos, is instead an insane and completely unhinged maniac, as Word of God says that Beelzevos is actually the soul of an egomaniacal employee and ruthless killer whose soul was transferred into a copy of Knuckles Chaotix after he committed suicide.
    • Curse was a caring and nice guy who wants to hurt nobody. His D-Sides counterpart, named "Clover" by Curse's former owner, is an Ineffectual Loner with No Social Skills, wanting to be left alone so his terrible luck is unable to be spread on them.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change:
    • Hog was a bootleg tenrec that overwrote the real Sonic's data, which turned the original Sonic into the evil Scorched. Here, Hog is now actually SEGA's mascot, Sonic, overwriting Alex Kidd's data.
    • Satanos was originally a mysterious powerful god of unknown origin, other than being created by cultists, that is. Beelzevos, his D-Sides counterpart, is instead said to be the soul of a murderer and former employee who slaughtered many workers in his workplace, including killing his own boss before committing suicide, which sent his soul into a copy of Knuckles Chaotix, turning him into the egomaniacal chameleon-like monster we know as Beelzevos.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • In the Pico canon, Pico had no connection to the Goth-Punks outside of sharing classes with them. In D-Sides, he was friends with all of them, though unaware they were planning on shooting up the school. This friendship ended up saving Alucard, Cyclops, and Hanzou's lives, as when they did attack the school, Pico made a beeline for Cassandra because he knew getting rid of her would make the others stop.
    • In Friday Night Funkin', Skid and Pump are just a random pair of kids with no connections to the main cast. In this mod, Lila and Daddy Dearest have been good friends since school, and as a result Skid has known the Dearests his whole life and considers them family.
    • Spirit had seemingly no relationship with Girlfriend, having been imprisoned back when she was only five years old. Dwayne on the other hand was known to be a close friend of Girlfriend, and was imprisoned shortly after he asked for Daddy Dearest's permission to date her.
  • Adaptation Species Change:
    • In both Spooky Month and Friday Night Funkin', Pump is a human. In D-Sides, he's a ghost.
    • Zardy goes from being a scarecrow to being a reaper.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Maria Robotnik in D-Sides is the main villain of the Sonic series due to swapping places with Dr. Eggman, with her wanting to get the Master Emerald for unlimited power.
  • Adaptational Wimp: In Five Nights at Freddy's proper, William Afton is a Serial Killer Mad Scientist who "always comes back". Here, he's just an average person because the events of the games never happened.
  • Adapted Out: Boyfriend is not present in "Milk" despite having been playable in the original. Robotnik is the playable character in it instead.
  • All There in the Manual: There exists a google doc of fun facts relating to the mod's cast, though some are more jokey than others. DastardlyDeacon also has a fun facts thread on twitter, detailing what various mod characters (and Skid's mother Lila) are like in the mod's setting.
  • And Now for Someone Completely Different: "Milk" initially begins with a battle between Sunky and Robotnik, being the first D-Sides Vs. Sonic.exe song to show an actual Sonic character alive outside of Mighty. Then, halfway through the song, Mitee shows up after Robotnik kicks Sunky out of his office. The last bit of the song is played as Mitee, as he's kicked Robotnik out of the office himself... and then some unseen figure -- presumably the player themselves due to the photorealistic fist -- punches Mitee off screen for the last note.
  • Author Appeal: DastardlyDeacon has stated that he likes the color purple, and thus, nearly every character in the mod has purple or a similar shade implemented in some way.
  • Ax-Crazy:
    • Chester, even more so than Monster in the base game, with even gorier lyrics, mentioning wanting to lick the couple's bones and break them with his teeth, and drink their blood, using their eyes for décor.
    • Beelzevos is even more unhinged than Satanos, given his egomaniacal upbringing as a former criminal in his past life.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Mitee is the least scary member of the D-Sides Vs. Sonic.exe cast, sitting in a high chair in "God Feast" along with Sunky and playing with the Tails Doll like a toy.
  • Badass Boast: Virtual.ROM with this line.
"YOU WANT MARIO? I'LL SHOW YOU MARIO!"
  • Badass Normal: Zeus is the only character out of the Vs. Sonic.exe songs not to have a major mechanic in his gameplay, at most having visual gimmicks and some distortion as he changes forms. He makes up for it with the length and pressure of his song's chart. And he's even a nice guy, which also contributes to this.
  • Bait-and-Switch Boss: Halfway through "Milk", Robotnik kicks Sunky through the wall, only for Mitee to take his place as your opponent.
  • Beat Without a "But": The Couch Gags are set to have one sentence appear and then have another sentence show up underneath it. One of the gags is "may not be the best mod but", which has no second part.
  • Bedsheet Ghost: Pump's costume consists of a large bedsheet thrown over his head, leaving only his eyes visible. Unlike Skid, he actually is a ghost, and wears the sheet as an indicator, unaware said sheet only makes people think he's just in a costume.
  • Black Comedy: While describing the many, many ways he could cook and eat Boyfriend and Girlfriend during "Monster", Chester cracks a joke about finding one of Boyfriend's pubic hairs in his stew.
  • Body Horror: Virtual.ROM bathes in this once his intentions are fully shown, his face contorting into a variety of creepy things, and his idle animation even showing a trio of mouths INSIDE his face.
  • Bright Is Not Good: Zeus' Ristar form is white, but it's the first sign that this version of "Cycles" is going to be a lot tougher than the original.
  • The Cameo:
    • Among the audience in Week 1 is Darnell, Hex, Henry Stickmin, Whitty, and Sanford, though only Hex and Whitty are visible during gameplay due to the camera.
    • Week 3 is filled with D-Side versions of the Pico's School cast. "Philly Nice" has Nene (sporting Cassandra's hairstyle) and Darnell (looking like Alucard). "Blammed" has Alucard (dressed like Darnell), Cyclops (dressed like Pico) and Piconjo (dressed like Hanzou) into the mix.
    • Mighty.ZIP's background post reveal features the corpses of Ray the Flying Squirrel, Fang the Sniper, and Maria Robotnik.
    • Zeus has a few more cameos with his different forms and the the "microphones" they each hold. Mighty is holding Ray, Ristar is holding Kaiser Greedy, Vectorman is holding Warhead, and Alex Kidd is holding Ashra.
    • While not appearing in person, the background of "God Feast" has several pictures showing Sarah, Coldsteel, Hog and Starved on the left, with their D-Sides counterparts on the right-hand side.
  • Canon Foreigner: In Week 5, Chester has a tiny one eyed lemon-shaped companion named Lemon Bambino who will join in on his song (though speaking gibberish rather than English); Monster has no companion like this and crashes the vanilla Week 5 by himself. Word of God states that Chester found him in the produce section of Walmart (which is purple in the D Side universe).
  • Classical Movie Vampire: Skid's costume consists of a little suit, a cape with a high collar, and a slicked-back wig with a widow's peak.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: Mack introduces himself by asserting that his theory that William Afton is a child killer after his son Michael killed his other son Evan as complete and objective fact, and he looks noticeably more unhinged than MatPat, with a far more angry expression and rolled-up sleeves. Keep in mind that Mack co-exists with Fredbear's in this universe.
  • Couch Gag: Like the original Friday Night Funkin', the mod has multiple different lines that show up before the title screen.
  • The Cover Changes the Meaning:
    • Due to a lot of the characters now having a notably different lifestyle, or have songs covered by completely different characters, certain songs change their moods or instrumentation to reflect that. "Cycles" in the original and D-Sides version originally refers to the endless cycle of violence and torment that the void entity in question puts his "playmates" through. However, Zeus' emphasis on shapeshifting adds the subtext of a cycle of hyperfixation based on which of his worlds he feels like playing in, to the point where Zeus himself is a living cycle of forms.
    • Where "Slaybells" was a simply celebration of Christmas between Xenophanes, Lord X and Majin Sonic, "God Feast" takes place on Thanksgiving and is a reconcilliation between the Mighties and Sonics.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Completing Skid's costume is a single large fang; due to this being Skid, it only accentuates his adorableness.
  • Damsel in Distress: In "Foolhardy", Lila is being held captive by Zardy, leading Skid and Pump to rap battle him in order to rescue her.
  • Developer's Foresight:
    • If you type "SONIC" on the main menu, Zephaniah chews you out for mistaking him for that blood-crying faker.
YOU MUST BE DENSER THAN A BRICK, I HAVE NO QUILLS WITH WHICH TO PRICK, WHILE I CAN HOLD MYSELF ON WALLS, THAT PORCUPINE WOULD SIMPLY FALL, YOU COULDN'T KILL ME WITH MERE SPIKES, AND I DON'T SHARE TROPHIES ON PIKES, SO THINK AGAIN, IF YOU'RE NOT BORED, WHAT IS THE PEN AGAINST THE SWORD?
    • Losing in "God Feast" will provide a unique Game Over animation, depending on which of the three playable characters you failed as.
  • Dodge the Bullet: There are multiple points in Week 3 where Pico shoots at Boyfriend, with the player needing to dodge. Boyfriend has a unique, Sonic-esque pose for each arrow input.
  • Dramatic Irony: Mack claims that William Afton became a child murderer after one of his sons, Michael, killed his other son, Evan, so that he could revive the latter. Canon for the games, but nobody died in this universe, meaning what you see of Fredbear's and its management is what you get.
  • Dual Boss: "Feaster" has both Chester and Lemon Bambino rap against BF, with Chester being properly voiced and Lemon Bambino using the more traditional chromatics.
  • Dueling Player Characters: Since the 3.0 update which made Pico playable, Week 3 has the sides switch when you play as him, with Boyfriend taking on the role of opponent.
  • Early-Bird Cameo:
    • Zeus' right pose shows his next form inside of his mouth, before looping back to his Mighty form in his Alex Kidd form.
    • D-Sides' Tails Doll and Super Scourge appear in "God Feast" alongside their vanilla counterparts, the song being released not long after Zeus, Tenma and Mitee were added in the Freeplay Update.
  • Evil Chef:
    • Daddy Dearest in this universe is stated by Word of God to be a great chef, his cookies being a good highlight. Unfortunately, he's just as evil as the original Daddy Dearest and wants Boyfriend dead.
    • Chester's lyrics in both of his songs demonstrate that he is an expert when it comes to cooking humans. He'll always make sure his meals are properly cooked.
    • "God Feast", taking place on Thanksgiving, naturally includes food; X and Z are shown serving a roasted Clucky.
  • Extreme Omnivore:
    • Boyfriend is stated to have a stomach like a goat by Word of God.
    • Word of God states that Mighty.ZIP ate his microphone offscreen while transforming.
  • Facial Horror:
    • Tricky in the D-Sides universe has his face torn off, resembling Scrapeface. He covers this up with a mask in "Improbable Outset", but "Madness" will have the mask fall off, exposing his missing face.
    • Virtual.ROM looks normal at first, but after a few seconds short of a minute into "It's-A Me", his face splits open, revealing different things inside ranging from multiple eyes to multiple sets of teeth.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You
    • In the middle of his song, Mighty.ZIP will say a rhyme with the last line having him look directly at the screen, indicating he is speaking directly to the player. The line in question makes that clear as well. The 'Notepad' he mentions is the Notepad application, by the way, and he uses it to send messages and threats to the player.
In the Notepad, fates are written
      'cus Pandora didn't listen!
Time will march, and here with me,
THIS SCREEN'S THE LAST YOU'LL EVER SEE!
    • Unlocking the D-Side version of "Cycles" is simple, but tries to trick the player (or perhaps anyone looking to cheat by opening the debug menu) by giving a fake error screen that warns the build of the mod they downloaded is potentially infected with a virus, and suggests deleting the mod and running an anti-virus scan. Wait long enough and the screen will start to flicker with increasing frequency, before taking the player to a black void. Zeus starts talking to the player with very slow scrolling text, with uncomfortably long pauses between sentences. All you can see of them is the glow of their pupils in the darkness as they stare at you and talk of wanting to "see you", before you finally get taken to the song proper.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: It's hard to notice at a glance, but the next form Zeus is going to take is shown inside of his mouth/face during his right pose animation.
  • Fur Against Fang: Played With: to go with the vampire schtick, Skid pretends to hate werewolves, but he actually quite likes them.
  • Genki Girl: Girlfriend seems to be this, since she always taps her finger to the beat of the music and her cheering pose looks like she's squealing with delight.
  • Get Out!: After getting a deal with Boyfriend at the end of Week 6, Spirit tells him and Girlfriend to clear it, mainly since he keeps snarking too much.
Spirit: ...Just get out of here.
  • Guest Fighter:
  • High-Altitude Battle: The climax of Week 7, "Stress D-Sides", has Planeman, Boyfriend and Girlfriend duke it out on the wings of a plane while it's airborne.
  • Honorary Uncle: Lila and Daddy Dearest were friends since school, and thus Skid grew up knowing the Dearests; he considers Daddy Dearest his uncle, Mommy Mearest his aunt, and Girlfriend his cousin. Pump also considers them family despite not being related to any of them.
  • An Ice Person: Instead of Interface Screwing Static Notes like Sonic.EXE, Mighty.ZIP will throw Ice Notes at BF which, on hit, freeze him, preventing him from hitting notes until he thaws himself out by pressing Left & Right.
  • In Name Only: Certain remixes are so staunchly different from the original song - such as "Bopeebo", "Spookeez", "Monster", "Cycles", "Milk" and "It’s-A-Me" - that one wonders why the tracks weren't given new names entirely. Not that this is a bad thing, considering the quality of the music. Subverted in Week 5, which gives the songs new names (Green Eggs, Ham, and Feaster) to fit with the theme being Easter rather than Christmas, and the D-Sides mix of "Guy", which was given the new name of "DGuy".
  • Informed Attribute: Like in canon, Daddy Dearest is a rockstar, yet none of his songs are of the rock genre.
  • Interface Screw:
    • The strumlines in "Endless," simply put, cannot sit still, and are constantly bouncing around at best, sometimes even going offscreen as Boyfriend is still singing at one point.
    • Hitting Mitee's gum notes will cover the screen in bubblegum.
  • Lampshade Hanging: One of the various couch gags is "another remix mod - unheard of", referencing how D-Sides is not the first nor the last mod of its type.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Mighty.ZIP was initially added in the easter update as a secret character, but the Freeplay update simply added him to freeplay. Tenma, Zeus and Mitee were also kept secret in the Freeplay update, but since the Thanksgiving update, "Endless", "Cycles" and "Milk" all appear in Freeplay, and all four armadillos appear in "God Feast", which is also available in Freeplay.
  • Leitmotif: "D-Guy" replaces the leitmotif from "Five Nights At Freddy’s" by The Living Tombstone from the original song with a leitmotif from "It’s Been So Long", again by The Living Tombstone.
  • Loners Are Freaks: Virtual.ROM and Clover are this. To wit:
    • Virtual.ROM a spirit who wants nothing more than to be left alone, and resides in a Virtual Boy since he doubts anyone would play it. If anyone disturbs him, he utilizes Body Horror to get them to leave.
    • Clover is an AU of the original Curse who is cursed with terrible luck, and wants to be left alone for him to ensure the curse he possesses does not pass on to others.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: As of Week 5, the D-Sides universe co-exists with those of Eddsworld, Undertale, Deltarune, Five Nights at Freddy's, Madness Combat and Sonic.exe, albeit with a number of differences in each. Taken even further if one considers the D-Side mod character designs canon to D-Side itself.
  • Meaningful Name: Mighty.ZIP's true name is Zephaniah, translating to "Concealed is Yah" in Hebrew. In other words, God is hidden, or lying in wait. This Zephaniah fancies himself a god like any other incarnation of Sonic.exe, and as a living ZIP bomb, he preys on people curious enough to go "finding God".
  • Meaningful Release Date: "God Feast" was added on November 24th, 2022, not only coinciding with Thanksgiving in the United States, but mirroring the original release of ''Vs Sonic.exe'' also releasing on Thanksgiving.
  • Mood Whiplash: Overlaps with Surprisingly Creepy Moment and Beware the Silly Ones. The goofy and otherwise unassuming Ved Guy isn't at all threatening... unless you fail "Lore", in which case the game over screen silently fades into him glaring at you with a Face Framed in Shadow and no visible eyes. It's worth noting that the only other unique game over sequences in the mod involve Robotnik spontaneously exploding like a balloon, Mitee collapsing onto the ground in the stock Family Guy death pose, and one out of Zephaniah, Temna Mighty or Zeus, falling off-screen in a classic Sonic style.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg:
    • "God Feast" is an entirely original song, not even having a vanilla equivalent like Week 5 (although it could be seen as an answer to Vs. Sonic.exe's "Slaybells", another holiday themed song) and it is the only song to feature the vanilla versions of characters, with Xenophanes, Lord X and Majin singing against Zephaniah, Zeus and Tenma.
    • "And" is another entirely original song that doesn't even have a vanilla equivalent, and not only that, it outright transplants a character from another mod (Spoinky Boingy from his namesake mod) instead of using any sort of D-Side counterpart of him.
  • My Hair Came Out Green: Boyfriend's hair is apparently naturally lavender, but he wanted to dye it a darker color. Unfortunately, the dye job was botched and he ended up with a spot of purple in his hair.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The spike in difficultly between Weeks 1 and 2 mirrors the original FNF before the Week 4 update, where Week 1 is very simple while Week 2 had a jump in note density.
    • One of the couch gags is "goodbye - your penis", referencing FNF's "goodbye - my penis" gag added in a later update.
    • Pico has a pink mohawk, referencing a line in Pico's School: Love Conquers All where Pico and Cyclops talk about swapping their hairstyles. In the week itself, Cyclops even shows up wearing the original Pico's outfit and with his hair dyed ginger.
    • Partway through "Feaster", Chester will sing a twisted rendition of "Deck the Halls", referencing how Week 5 in the original game took place during Christmas.
    • During "Too Slow", Boyfriend will get frozen in ice, which he needs to break out. The pose and facial expression he makes when frozen are exactly the same as Sonic and Co. when they get frozen in Sonic Mania
    • The main background for "Endless", if not counting the looping Tenmas, is a recreation of a background seen in the SEGA Multimedia Studio autodemo made for the SEGA CD, with Tenma and Boyfriend duking it out on the flying disc Sonic rides throughout.
    • "Cycles" contains a number of smaller leitmotifs, some of which - such as one from "Thorns" near the start, reference God Z's counterpart in the Vs Sonic.exe mod starting out with a song that was mostly said leitmotifs stuck together end to end.
    • Virtual.ROM's idle being a bunch of mouths splitting his head open with hollow eyes on said head comes from Mario Clash's scoring screen graphics within the code, which also features a bunch of mouths between both sides of his head and hollow eyes.
  • Narcissist: Dusk is stated to be obsessed with herself instead of Boyfriend.
  • Non-Indicative Name:
    • The title of D-Sides. While meaningful in the context of this being a Game Mod akin to B-Side Remixes; just naming it the same with a different letter, it's a misnomer in the context of what the original is named after.
    • Skid and Pump still go by "Skid and Pump", despite those names deriving from their original selves' costumes, which they aren't wearing.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Mighty.ZIP's real name of Zephaniah isn't never once alluded to before the 2.7 update, being stated in outside sources. That said, he's never referred to as Mighty.ZIP either, as he only ever calls himself ".ZIP" in his notepad message, and the player has to figure out from the clues given that his "name" is Mighty. This is subverted in the cutscene before "God Feast", where God Z refers to Zephaniah by his real name.
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Zephaniah, who usually always speaks in riddles and rhymes, is apparently so stumped by the characters in D-Side's version of "Milk" that he can't properly introduce them. Instead of giving you a riddle to unlock them like with Zeus and Tenma, he just unlocks the song in the Freeplay menu with no strings attached. He also breaks the pattern at the end of "God Feast" when he fails to find a word describing Thanksgiving.
    UH...
    OKAY!
    SO!
...I HAVE NO CLUE WHO THESE GUYS ARE. I CAN'T REALLY, UH, INTRODUCE THEM OR ANYTHING. ARE THEY EVEN EVIL, OR...
EH, WHATEVER. I'M JUST GIVING YOU THIS ONE FOR FREE. IT'LL BE IN THE FREEPLAY MENU.
  • Patter Song: Zig-zagged with "Monster". Like the original song, the BPM changes from section to section. Sometimes it gets faster, and other times it slows down.
  • Perpetually Protean: Through out "Cycles", God Z will change form into horrifying versions of the protagonists of other Genesis games, starting as Mighty before turning into Ristar, Vector Man and Alex Kidd. At the end, he'll then rapidly cycle between all four of his forms, with one designated to each direction. Even his health icon changes with every note to match.
  • Playboy Bunny: Mommy Mearest swaps out her Sexy Santa Dress in Week 5 for one of these, since the week is now in Easter rather than Christmas.
  • Player Nudge: If you enter the close-but-not-quite answer of "SONIC" on the menu screen in response to ".ZIP"'s riddle, he relents and gives you a second riddle that requires less knowledge of Sonic's history to get the same answer. Granted, he still calls you a dumbass over it, but at least he makes it more doable.
  • Point of Divergence: According to Word of God, The events of Five Nights at Freddy's would have occurred in this universe, but William Afton's son (presumably The Crying Child) didn't die here, meaning he never became a serial killer and Fazbear Entertainment was never drowned out by controversy and remained successful. Afton can be seen in Week 5 in his suit, for promotional purposes, being held at gunpoint by Mommy Mearest.
  • Precision F-Strike: Zephaniah curses when he can't figure out a word to describe Thanksgiving.
Bless you, bless you all, for coming to- this- cele- what the fuck even is Thanksgiving???
  • Promoted to Playable:
    • Played for Laughs. In a rare event for most FNF songs, Mitee might be the only character to be introduced as an opponent before the player gets to control them within the span of one song, being "Milk". This control only lasts a few seconds before the song ends.
    • All of the other three VS Sonic.EXE opponents are playable in "God Feast".
    • As of the 3.0 update, Girlfriend and Pico can now be picked to be played as during the main story songs apart from the Week 7 set (with unique dialogue in Week 6 depending on who's leading the songs).
    • In "Foolhardy", Skid and Pump are the ones singing against Zardy, rather than Boyfriend.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: Mommy Mearest actually doesn't care that Girlfriend is dating Boyfriend - Boyfriend is even one of the few people she isn't aggressive towards - she just goes along with Daddy Dearest's attempts to kill and/or stop Boyfriend from seeing their daughter out of love for her husband.
  • Real Event, Fictional Cause: In the D-Sides universe, Sega experimented with creating games by binding the demon that would become God Z to their services to act as their primary visionary and programmer for several of Sega's properties, with each form he takes representing a game he made under their control.
  • Really Was Born Yesterday: Exaggerated by Chester, who is only a few minutes old by the time he gets to Boyfriend, despite his good grasp on the English language and deep raspy voice.
  • Red Is Violent:
    • As a cherry creature, Chester is primarily red, with an insaitble hunger for Boyfriend and Girlfriend, who happily devulges the many ways he wants to cook and eat them in his songs.
    • Inverted. Instead of Ourple Guy, we have Ved Guy, who is nowhere close to the child killing mad scientist his canon counterpart is.
  • Revenant Zombie: Pump's soul continues to live in his body after his death, and he acts almost exactly like he was when he was alive. His body has only just started to rot, and simply looks like a convincing zombie costume under his sheet. This utterly baffles Lila, who wants to figure out why that happened, and Zardy, who tries to bring Pump to the afterlife.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: Mighty.ZIP has a very exquisite speech pattern. Word of God says it's because he finds it funny.
MY SHELL IS STRONGER THAN A WALL
YOU'D MOVE US THREE WITH A TRACKBALL
BUT NOW THAT I AM IN CONTROL
YOU'RE DOOMED TO JOIN THE OTHER SOULS
SO SEEK ME OUT AND MEAT YOUR END
WHERE MAYBE YOU CAN JOIN YOUR FRIENDS
NOW WHY DON'T YOU ALL PLAY MY GAME?
THE MENU LISTENS FOR MY NAME
— .ZIP
  • Ridiculously Alive Undead: One of the character tidbits is that Pump loves cherries, implying that he still has tastebuds and/or needs to eat despite being a ghost.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: Played with. In this universe, Mack baselessly asserts that William Afton murders kids as part of an elaborate plot to revive his dead son. Here, it's Insane Troll Logic at best since both of Afton's sons are alive and well, but in our reality, this is 100% spot on. Word of God even says the whole reason the events of the series don't happen is because William's son never dies like in canon.
  • Role Swap AU:
    • Visually, multiple characters have swapped appearances with each other, though whether that extends to personality is unclear, and their roles seem to stay the same (such as Pico looking like Cyclops but still being the opponent of Week 3). These characters include all of the Pico cast (Pico/Cyclops, Darnell/Alucard, Nene/Cassandra, and Hanzou/Piconjo), Edd, Tom, and Matt with their Foil neighbors Eduardo, Jon, and Mark, and currently only known through Word of God, the Scooby gang with each other, Kirby with Keeby, and Gooey with Void Termina. invoked
    • The Vs. Sonic.exe songs feature EXEs based on Mighty the Armadillo as opposed to Sonic.exe, Lord X and Majin Sonic. Played with in "Milk", in which both Sunky and Mitee appear, and averted with Super Scourge (who is still an evil Sonic like Fleetway's Super Sonic) and Tails Doll. As shown in the background of God Feast, this also extends to Needlem0use (who becomes Max the Rabbit), Luther (who becomes the earliest drawings of Sonic), Sally_ALT (who becomes Cosmo), Starved (who becomes Chaos) and Coldsteel (who becomes a completely normal version of Sonic). Turns out even the characters from Mario Mix are affected by this as well, with PS135 becoming Yoshi. Additionally, MX has been stated to now be Wario instead of Mario.
    • Played straight with Sonic and Knuckles, as well as Maria and Dr. Eggman.
      • Sonic becomes the Guardian of the Master Emerald, as well as one of the only two members left of his tribe, while Knuckles (now named Claws) becomes The Hero of the Sonic series, being a no-nonsense hero who constantly saves the lives of animals in Red Leaves, and Tails’ best friend.
      • Maria becomes the main antagonist of the Sonic series, searching for the Master Emerald for unlimited power, while Ivo is a lonely man cooped up on Space Colony ARK. Both also end up swapping color schemes.
    • Instead of the FNAF 1 Phone Guy, "Lore" has the FNAF 3 Phone Dude make a vocal appearance halfway through. Played with in that instead of the actual Phone Dude appearing, it's an entirely new character who simply uses Phone Dude's voice as an audio source.
  • Secret Character:
    • Completing Week 5 in the 2.5 update suddenly creates a .txt file on your desktop, presenting you with a riddle. Solving it by typing "MIGHTY" in the main menu unlocks the D-Sides remix of "Too Slow" from Vs. Sonic.exe, starring MIGHTY.ZIP/Zepheniah. Subverted come the 2.6 update, as MIGHTY.ZIP's song is now available in the Freeplay menu by default. However...
    • Zepheniah returns to give two more riddles in the 2.6 update, which must be solved to unlock the D-Sides remixes of "Endless" and "Cycles", featuring Tenma Mighty and God Z respectively. Completing both of those then unlocks "Milk", featuring Sunky, Robotnik and Mitee. All three were again subverted by the 2.7 update, which put their songs in Freeplay.
    • One more secret character is introduced in the 2.6 update that even Zepheniah doesn't mention. Entering Story Mode and pressing left on the Tutorial Week cycles back to the hidden Week 0, which stars a currently unnamed crash test dummy robot resembling Boyfriend that is based off of the placeholder icon in the original game's files.
  • Self-Deprecation: A few of the couch gags poke fun at the mod itself, such as "d side more like - deez nuts lmao", "another remix mod - unheard of", and "may not be the best mod but", the last of which has no second part.
  • Serial Escalation: Mighty.ZIP was initially thought to be Sonic.exe's D-Sides counterpart, but a reference for the vanilla Mighty.ZIP was later created as an entirely new EXE, and Word of God says that there is also a separate D-Sides version of Xenophanes.
  • Shapeshifter Swan Song: God Z is shown to be able to shapeshift into multiple different SEGA protagonists, which he uses throughout the song. But towards the end, he starts changing forms rapidly for each note he hits. Even his icon changes with him!
  • Shout-Out:
    • Daddy Dearest has yellow eyes that only light up when he sings, ala Daddy Dearest from the Friday Night Funkin' Minus mod.
    • One of the couch gags references Super Mario 64, specifically a meme regarding the backwards long jump glitch.
    • The names of D-Sides' versions of "Cocoa" and "Eggnog" are titled "Green Eggs" and "Ham" respectively.
    • The person dressed up like the Easter Bunny that replaces the Mall Santa in Week 5 looks a lot like a more rotund version of Glitchtrap. By the time Chester makes his second debut, the deranged eyes they now sport along everyone else, combined with the exposed guts in his case, makes them look like Springtrap. Word of God states that this actually is William Afton, specifically in a timeline in which Afton never became a child murderer.
    • The unlock method for Endless D-Sides involves the code from Sonic CD used to unlock the "Fun is Infinite" Easter egg, which is put on the first six songs of the game (unless Week 0 has been played, in which case it's moved up by three numbers).
  • Slippy-Slidey Ice World: "Too Slow", instead of taking place in Green Hill Zone, instead takes place in Icy Isle Zone, home of Mighty.ZIP.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: God Z is more reserved than Mighty.ZIP or Lord X when he speaks, and talks as if he's a benevolent deity trying to show people the beauty of his creations. However, said creations are twisted, fleshy mockeries of his favorite games where he messily kills the rivals to each main character he's taken the form of.
  • Spared by the Adaptation:
    • Because of Pico's friendship with Alucard, Cyclops, and Hanzo, he spared them during the school shooting and only killed Cassandra.
    • Chester didn't kill William Afton during the events of Week 5 like Monster did to the Mall Santa in the original.
    • According to Word of God, Afton's youngest son never died. This in turn indirectly saved everyone else that Afton would later go on to kill following his son's death, including Henry's daughter Charlie and Afton's daughter Elizabeth. invoked
    • Maria was not born with NIDS, and the ARK was left untouched by the goverment: as such, she's alive, and a little older than Eggman.
  • Squee: Girlfriend's cheering pose indicates that she's prone to squealing when excited.
  • Stepford Smiler: Virtual.ROM starts off "It's-a Me" with an unchanging smile that looks more like he's wearing a mask than expressing genuine happiness. Once his face splits open, it can be seen visibly frowning.
  • Straw Vegetarian: Girlfriend thinks eating animal meat is morally wrong, yet loves fried chicken and would eat it if someone were to put a bucket of it in front of her.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Most characters who have red eyes have them become yellow in their D-Sides designs, notably with the Dearests, Bowser, most of the EX Es, Metal Sonic, and Super Scourge.
  • Super Window Jump: Police Guy makes his entrance during "Lore" by jumping through the window in the background.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: When Mack breaks into Ved Guy's house accusing him of being a murderer, the most sensible thing for William to do in this situation is call the police... which he does.
  • Take That!:
    • One of the couch gags is "Newgrounds good - Twitter bad".
    • Word of God states that D-Sides Kim Kardashian is made of flesh, an obvious jab towards the amount of plastic surgery she’s gone under.
  • Thanksgiving Episode: "God Feast" takes place at a thanksgiving dinner hosted by Mighty.ZIP with him, God Z and Tenma Mighty singing against their normal counterparts, with Mighty.ZIP even giving a small speech in his standard way midway through the song.
Mighty.ZIP: Although in our past, we broke our tether.
I'm glad, we're back here together.
For now, we have all come to meet.
And enjoy a delicious and HEARTY God's feast.
For it is now, on thanksgiving day,
THAT I INVITE YOU TO CHOW DOWN IN A CARNIVOROUS WAY!
  • Villainous Friendship:
    • Chester never once refers to Lemon Bambino by name, referring to him solely as "Little Buddy." "Feaster" also exists so he can teach him some of his recipes, mostly involving human flesh.
    • Zigzagged with .ZIP and .exe. At one point, they were friends, but by the 2.5 update Zephaniah is no longer on good terms with Xenophanes. However, they reconcile in "God Feast".
  • Villain Respect: Despite still wanting him dead, Daddy Dearest respects Boyfriend's persistence.
  • Unholy Matrimony: Like in canon, Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest are demons in a loving relationship who frequently either fuck with or try to kill Boyfriend. The google doc mentions that they love each other and their daughter and would die for each other and their daughter, and despite Daddy Dearest being incredibly greedy he still holds his family above all else.
  • Unlicensed Game: Word of God revealed that the story behind Mighty.ZIP is that Boyfriend bought a bootleg Sonic game with a virus from a sketchy site, which Daddy Dearest kicked him into (along with Girlfriend by accident) while he was playing it.
  • Waiting Puzzle: Unlocking "Cycles" involves pressing 7 on the main menu and then waiting for about 30 seconds once greeted with a fake error screen.
OH, AND JUST BETWEEN YOU AND ME
WHEN THINGS GET WEIRD, PATIENCE IS KEY
  • We Used to Be Friends: It was originally noted that Zeph and Xeno wouldn't get along, but a later post on Twitter states that they were friends at some point, and they only just got back on good terms in "God Feast". Zephaniah references this in his rhyme in the middle of the song.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Ivo Robotnik in this universe becomes one. While he assists Shadow and Maria with trying to obtain the Chaos Emeralds, unlike Maria, he just wants to be cured of a deadly disease he has, and is perfectly willing to give them back afterwards.
  • Wonder Child: Despite Daddy Dearest being a trans man, D-Sides Girlfriend is still biologically his and Mommy Mearest's child, as she was conceived through magic according to Word of God.invoked
  • Would Hurt a Child: Once Mighty.ZIP drops the facade, Maria's corpse appears in the background. Word of God also says he'd kick a baby for 10 dollars.
  • Your Mom: During the dialogue preceding "Thorns D-Sides" (if playing as Boyfriend), Boyfriend finishes quipping to Sensei by blurting out "Yo mama" before to trigger him further.
