  • In the Ah! My Goddess episode "Ah! A Demon has Come and is Creating Calamity!", Mara turns Keiichi into a Honda Cub. When Belldandy and Urd turn him back, they forget that his clothes didn't change with him, leaving him naked. Urd has an amused look on her face, while Belldandy's entire face turns a deep pink.
  • Everyone in Ai Yori Aoshi, given that they are varying degrees of shy in romantic situation. Particularly funny with Chika, since it has to show through her deep tan.
  • Assassination Classroom:
    • After not studying for his exams due to overconfidence and as a result dropping substantially, Karma is called on it by Koro-Sensei, causing him to break into one of these, and a pretty substantial one at that. The whole thing looks ridiculous as his entire face turns red, nearly the same colour as his hair, so his whole head is bright red and this is one of only two times he blushes.
    • Nagisa also does this. A notable example is when he is dressed up as a girl in a club and is obviously uncomfortable. Another good example is directly after when it turns out he dressed up for nothing and everyone took photos.
    • Kayano does this after Nagisa kisses her to snap her out of a rage.
    • Korosensei himself does this whenever he is smitten with something. His face turns bright pink when he does it.
    • Professor Bitch usually does it to seduce someone, but sometimes blushes genuinely when faced with Karasuma.
  • In the first chapter/episode of Asteroid in Love, when Mira goes on with the story between her and a boy called Ao many years ago, the blue-haired girl sitting next to Mira at the Earth Sciences clubroom starts blushing heavily. It is because of the implications of this trope that the senpais Mari and Mikage suspect that other girl's involvement in Mira's story...
Mikage: Wanna tell us why you're blushing, Ao Manaka?
Mira: EHHH!? You're him... or her?
  • In the anime version of Attack on Titan, Annie Leonhardt has this expression while laughing and grinning like mad when she is rightly accused of being the Female Titan. This series managed to make even this trope creepy.
  • The emotionally repressed Sakaki on Azumanga Daioh is quite prone to this, especially when presented with something cute.
  • Most of the Yacht Club girls in Bodacious Space Pirates when confronted with sweets, especially if it's Chiaki (normally The Stoic) facing a chocolate parfait.
  • This trope is used to show a breakthrough in Casca's cold and aloof personality in Berserk. After her excursion with Guts, where they were stranded in the woods after a battle and he ends up saving her life twice, Casca begins to open up to reveal that she really isn't that mean of a girl. The first major iceberg was broken when Guts playfully slapped her on the butt in front of all of their comrades, causing Casca's face to go red with embarrassment. From there, she starts blushing around Guts a lot more for other reasons...
    • In the movie, when Griffith meets Charlotte for Sex for Solace and starts it off with a Forceful Kiss, the virginal and pure princess is so surprised and aroused that she sports one of these on her face.
  • Black Lagoon:
  • Bleach:
    • Ichigo goes BRIGHT red when he first sees Yoruichi's nude human form.
    • Anime episode 262. When Haineko (Rangiku's zanpakuto spirit) meets a cute swordbeast named Narunosuke she blushes this way repeatedly.
  • Li Syaoran of Cardcaptor Sakura, who gives the title character a run for her money with the amount of screen time he spends as a human tomato. Syaoran's blushing potential can create shades surpassing tomatoes and even beetroots. Especially his blush when Sakura hugged him for the first time in the anime - he never managed to pull anything quite like that again.
  • Misaka in A Certain Magical Index is prone to doing this when around Touma or when others point out or inquire about her feelings for him. Sometimes a combination of this, her tsundereism, and Touma's density lead to really funny scenarios.
    • In fact, seeing Misaka's reaction to Touma being mentioned is Kuroko's Berserk Button.
    • At one point in the second season, the Misaka clones are having a minor argument over #19090 deviating from the others by reading a women's magazine. When Touma innocently makes #10032 (aka Misaka Imouto) remember one of the tips in the magazine she heard from the othersnote , she instantly blushes.
  • Otome from Cherry Juice sported one of these that covered her entire face when she awoke to find that she had fallen out of bed at some point during the night, and had spent the remainder of the time sleeping on top of her half-naked step-brother Minami. Thereafter nearly every interaction between the two involved this to some degree.
  • CLANNAD:
    • A few characters blush that way in CLANNAD. Nagisa gets it most often out of all the characters.
    • Pretty much everyone does this at least once; even Sunohara. Kyou manages a near-instantaneous full-face glowy blush in this scene.
  • Crossplay Love: Otaku x Punk: Shuumei does this when he gets a text from Hana, and Hanae when he gets one back from Mei. Also whenever they're close to each other, and at least one is crossdressing.
  • Yuki from Dance in the Vampire Bund gets these quite often, whether it is confessing her feelings to her classmate or finding the director of her school reading her Boys Love work-in-progress. Of course neither said classmate (Akira) nor said director (Mina) are immune themselves.
  • Himeko of Destiny of the Shrine Maiden, a lot. Although given that she's an innocent Moe Shrinking Violet in a Yuri Genre anime, this should surprise no one.
  • In Episode 13 of Doki Doki! PreCure, Regina blushes when she sees Ai-chan and coos over how cute she is.
  • Appears as early as chapter one of Don't Become an Otaku, Shinozaki-san!, where it was Akina's reaction hearing from the school nurse that Kaede came to the nurse's office with teary eyes, really worried about Akina's condition after she fainted from a lack of sleep. Akina blushed knowing Kaede cared a lot about her, cementing her resolve to get deeper into the otaku pit to get close to her.
  • Done with Vegeta of all people in Dragon Ball GT: after shaving off his mustache at his daughter's insistence, he goes Compliment Fishing about his appearance to Bulma, Goten, and Chi-Chi, who all pretend to not see anything different about him, until he loses his temper and screams at them before storming out of the room, blush-zone glowing from a combination of genuine offense that they didn't notice and embarrassment at himself for getting into such a ridiculous situation. Extra hilarious because this is the same guy who, some 25-odd years earlier, tried to destroy the planet and kill these characters' families and would never have given the tiniest damn what a lowly human thought of him.
  • Monta is pretty much the only character who does this in Eyeshield 21 (and that's saying something), in response to any and all innocent platonic affection from Mamori. And the poor kid tries so hard to be macho...
  • Happens in Fullmetal Alchemist to Edward when he proposes to Winry.
  • Full Metal Panic!:
    • Sōsuke does this a few times — most notably during Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu. He does it once when he's defending Kaname against some pathetic Yakuza, and she threatens them that she'll call Bonta-kun over to beat them up until they cry. Of course, Sōsuke feels very embarrassed because... well, he's Bonta-kun, and he thinks she doesn't know. Another time is when Kaname dresses like a hot, older housewife, and pretends that she's having an affair with him. He doesn't recognize her, and feels extremely shy and embarrassed, turning bright red.
    • In the first few episodes of FMP it's used to show that Kaname is lying when she claims she doesn't find New Transfer Student Sōsuke attractive. That and the occasional Laughing Mad scene.
  • Future Diary:
    • Yuno is often like this whenever she talks to Yuki. Considering she's a walking Stalker with a Crush-Yandere combo, it comes off just a tad creepy. Not just that, but she also gets the blush when killing for her Yuki. Talk about creepy.
    • Yuki himself tends to have this reaction to Yuno whenever she goes Pants-Free or casually changes clothes in front of him.
    • Minene does this in the flashback in Episode 10 when Nishijima tells her that she looks cute. Cue her trying to "wipe" the redness off her face. She does this again, in a much later episode, when Nishijima proposes to her.
  • Genshiken:
    • Ohno, the subverted Aloof Dark-Haired Girl of Genshiken appears to have a constant blush in both the Manga and Anime versions. It remains even during most of her Cosplaying sessions, but her embarrassment seems to feed her confidence. Ogiue on the other hand hates the fellow club Otakus, in typical Type A Tsundere behaviour, but blushes profusely when thinking of her beloved yaoi. Ogiue's normally implacable and stoic facade makes this quite significant of her internal conflicts over her Otaku nature, rather than some attempt at a throwaway Moe visual gag.
    • Ohno also had this when her yaoi hobby was found out, but she was more concerned about what their impression would be in regards to the type of men she was attracted to (bald men), rather than the yaoi itself.
  • Leopard in The Girl Who Leapt Through Space manages to pull one of these off despite being a large computer.
  • While it is commonplace in Gundam Build Fighters, Episode 23 took the cake by applying this trope on a Mobile Suit, having Ricardo Fellini's Wing Gundam blush when grappled from behind by his girlfriend Kirara's Gerbera Tetra. After the episode aired, animation director Masami Obari tweeted that "now I have to live with having added blush marks to a Mobile Suit for the rest of my life..."
  • Gunslinger Girl: Brainwashed and emotionally restrained Henrietta does this a lot (it's even shown in the Title Sequence) when interacting with her "handler", Giuseppe, due to her Precocious Crush. Even uptight cyborgs like Triela and Claes blush if their handler makes physical contact with them. Petrushka/Petra is a second-generation cyborg and thus subject to lesser amounts of brainwashing, but her Fiery Redhead persona means she does this a lot too.
  • Hanaukyō Maid Team La Verite episode 2. During Taro's dream, Taro and Mariel both blush to demonstrate their attraction to each other.
  • In Hanjuku Joshi, Yae is very prone to this, since she's a relatively straight-laced Naïve Newcomer at a girls' school whose students have somewhat relaxed standards of modesty.
  • Happy Happy Clover: Mallow is seen doing this twice in the series. The first is when she introduces herself to class as a new student in the first story and again in "Mallow's Heart Sours" in Volume 5 after learning that Shallot likes her.
  • Mikuru Asahina from Haruhi Suzumiya pulls this off several times in the series. The most dramatic example occurs in The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya when Kyon offers proof of his being from an Alternate Universe by telling her how she has a star-shaped mole on her left breast.
  • Akane in Harukanaru Toki no Naka de - Hachiyou Shou does this occasionally, often in response to Tomomasa's teasing. A few of the boys are quite capable of out-blushing her, though — particularly Tenma, and especially Eisen.
  • Haruka in Haruka Nogizaka's Secret. She's more prone to this than most characters, spending a good half of each episode red in the face.
  • Hayate the Combat Butler:
    • Nagi gets these, particularly when she thinks she's been given a chance to be alone with Hayate, and especially strong when she thinks it's a chance to give him a kiss.
    • The other characters have all gotten chances at having them as well.
    • Hayate in particular gets an absolutely epic one in the manga at least when Maria (in 'disguise') and Hayate are riding the clock tower elevator and Maria teases him by asking if he is in love with the Student Council President (i.e. Hinagiku). Hayate's reaction consists of literally this, much stammering, apparently trying to deny it by listing all of Hinagiku's good qualities and finally being unable to speak coherently.
  • Integra Hellsing towards Alucard when he's being an idiot.
  • Hetalia: Axis Powers:
    • Many characters have this permanently. In fact, the blush is often overlaid with a bright pink one when especially embarrassed or sick - see Britain with a cold, or Germany whenever Italy is in the room.
  • Though everyone blushes at one time or another in Higurashi: When They Cry, Rena and Keiichi tend to (manga only) blush a lot, both in standard form and due to stress/fear,
  • Hiroki of I Think Our Son Is Gay often gets flushed when the issue of sexuality is raised, regardless of context. He's supposed to be Closet Gay, but the blushing-induced No Poker Face means most of his family know his sexuality, but would rather wait for him to come out.
  • The iDOLM@STER - Played for laughs. Chihaya blushes when Miki enters the bath with her and Haruka on the Live For You OVA, though it isn't as much an embarrassed blush and more an envious one.
  • In Inuyasha, Inuyasha, Kagome, and Sango, all blush quite often, especially the latter since she constantly has to deal with the shameless flirting and wandering hands of her Love Interest Miroku.
  • In Josee, The Tiger, and The Fish, Josee the classical tsundere main heroine does this a lot, particularly when Kana asks if Tsuneo is her boyfriend.
  • This trope gets used heavily in Junjou Romantica. Misaki and Hiroki usually get the worst of it.
  • Shiro in K does this all the time. Examples include when Kuroh half-hugs him as he's rescuing him from HOMRA, and when he first meets Neko. Kuroh gets the blush too, whenever he talks about his late Master Ichigen.
  • Yurie from Kamichu! does this a lot, especially when it has to do with Kenji. Her younger brother Shoukichi also tends to do this around Miko.
  • The titular character of Karin, who is Luminiscent Blush incarnate, deserves special mention. She's so easily embarrassed, that it's hard to catch her while not blushing. Other characters of the series even comment on it. Of course, it could just be all the blood she has.
  • Ryuko Matoi from Kill la Kill does this whenever she's wearing her superpowered Sailor Fuku Senketsu. Understandable, considering how downright Stripperiffic it is.
  • Kimagure Orange Road: Episode 2. Kyosuke and Madoka are washing dishes together when their hands accidentally brush together. Quickly they broke contact and kept on washing dishes, lowering their heads and avoiding eye contact. Their faces were completely red as they did so.
  • Yui from K-On! does this a lot, but especially notable is the one she shows when Mio attempts to call her by her given name.
  • Kanna Aoyagi, the protagonist of Koe de Oshigoto! has her blushing face more often than not. Anyone who steps into the recording booth gets one pretty quickly as well. This is only natural, considering they are recording dialog for H-games.
  • Lucky Star:
    • The above picture is of Lucky Star's resident Tsundere Kagami, who often plays this trope straight. At one point, she went beyond that to display a full body blush after "accidentally" opening a suspicious manga at Comiket. Of her favorite series.
    • Kanata blushed as Sou reminisced about their time together. That's right, ghosts can blush too.
  • Lyrical Nanoha:
    • Fate, socially uncomfortable former Dark Magical Girl that she is, gets these often.
    • Yuuno also gets this one; he's a boy, but he poses as a Weasel Mascot.
    • Nanoha doing this to Chrono was nearly a Running Gag towards the end of the first series (sadly, only during the first series). What can we say, she's adorable when she smiles!
    • Einhart also gets these from time to time, such as when Nove takes her by surprise in the police station waiting room.
  • Mazinger universe:
    • In Mazinger Z and its sequels -Great Mazinger and UFO Robo Grendizer this trope was much more prevalent in the manga than in the anime (where the male heroes usually were Chaste Heros). In the manga episodes, pretty much all teen characters (including Kouji Kabuto himself) blushed brightly at one point or another, either because his/her Love Interest was praising them/flirting with them or because someone had suggested they were one couple. In Mazinkaiser also was usual seeing Kouji or Sayaka — or some other character — blushing furiously.
    • Original manga's episode 8 was a good example. Kouji and Sayaka accidentally saw at each other naked in the hot springs. Their faces were fully red afterwards.
  • This occurs constantly in Me & My Brothers to many of the characters showing deeper emotion when they are not sporting their more lighthearted Blush Stickers, which are used even more so. This is most effective to the reader when it is happening to Miyashita Sakura and her oldest stepbrother Masashi, who later harbour romantic feelings for each other.
  • Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch has its cases of these. Lucia sometimes gets her entire face red, usually when thinking of Kaito.
  • The English title of Miss Machiko is The Shame of Miss Machiko (Machiko Teacher). Every episode involves the main character (or her female students) being placed in embarrassing situations, which involves lots of blushing.
  • The otherwise VERY serious second season of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 has Allelujah blushing twice:
    • First when he's rescued from prison and meets up with Lockon's twin brother who the others failed to tell him about; Allelujah is understandably VERY surprised at Lockon's presence, then he looks from Lockon to the nonplussed Tieria and back...and then he blushes and apologizes for his outburst. Tieria's smiling response is that he hasn't changed but shouldn't.
    • Second when Mileina asks whether Allelujah and Marie are a couple; both respond with simultaneous blushes.
  • Monochrome Factor: Haruka blushed upon looking at Akira in the first episode.
  • Standard reaction of women when they see The Medicine Peddler in Mononoke.
  • In Mother Keeper, Ricalna gets this in the first chapter when his adoptive dad, Graham, pats his head and tells him he's a son he's extremely proud of.
  • Happens so often to the characters from My Balls that you start to wonder if there's a fever going around.
  • Very widespread among the children in My Clueless First Friend but most often seen on Nishimura's face, usually after Takada has gushed about how awesome he thinks she is.
  • My Hero Academia: The main sufferer of this condition is Ochako Uraraka, whose Blush Stickers will spread to the point of her entire face going red when she gets too close to (or teased about) her crush, Izuku Midoriya. Incidentally, Izuku suffers the same when Ochako is too close to him.
  • My-HiME:
    • Akira gets one while trying to convince Takumi that he didn't see her save him from an Orphan and that she is actually a "secret ninja of the school". Her face not only turns completely red but also has Blush Stickers on it.
    • Happens to other characters as well, especially Mai and Natsuki.
  • In My-Otome, Arika does a full body blush when kissed on the hand by a Prince.
  • Naruto:
  • Negima! Magister Negi Magi:
    • Negi just has that effect on people. Especially girls. Asuna, Setsuna, Nodoka, and Yue in particular warrant mention.
    • As does the fake Asuna (Shiori), who blushes a hell of a lot more and a lot deeper than the real one ever did. And that's saying something. When she's unmasked at the end of Ch. 283, her face combines this trope and a mixture of attraction to and fear of Negi to make her irresistibly adorable.
    • Chachamaru spends her whole Pactio chapter in this state. The reasons for it range from shyness, to fear and sadness, to what can only be called post-orgasmic haze. Even better, she's a Robot Girl.
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion:
    • Shinji and Asuka are prone to these almost whenever they interact. Probably because Shinji is a shy boy and Asuka is a Tsundere.
      • In one episode, Asuka starts scolding Shinji during school time for forgetting their lunches, while he tries to get his side in. Toji tosses off a remark that they're arguing Like an Old Married Couple. Cue double luminescent blush (they HAD kissed not many days earlier), then simultaneous denial in perfect stereo.
      • In episode eight Asuka blushed when she realized Shinji was taking a peek at her while she was changing clothes.
      • In episode 9 Shinji noticed Asuka was sleeping by his side. He stared at her face for a while, blushing profusely as he did so.
      • Shinji gets another (and something else) when he overhears questionable behaviour between Misato and Asuka in the female area of the hot springs.
Shinji: (whilst cringing and submerging his blushing face in the water) Thermal expansion! How embarrassing!!
      • Asuka flirts with Shinji by a swimming pool at one point by showing off her new bikini and "teaching" him about thermal expansion by patting and caressing her breasts in her bikini top, making him blush as red as anything and demanding that she changes the subject.
      • After the battle against Leliel Asuka visited Shinji in the hospital. She did not want him to realize she had come, but he spotted her anyway. Hurriedly she retreated, blushing as Shinji laughed.
    • In one of the Rebuild movies, Misato snaps at her ex Kaji that she is too busy to do anything, especially rekindling their romance. Kaji states that she would probably never find a new lover like him, to which she angrily questions why he should even care. He responds by flashing a patented lady-killer smile straight at her. Cue Misato's momentary speechlessness and averted gaze with blush.
    • The second film of the Rebuild series has a scene where Hikari approaches Asuka and shyly asks if she can sit with her at lunch. She's even blushing when asking it.
  • Misaki from Only the Flower Knows blushes really, really, really frequently.
  • Sara from Overman King Gainer gets one when Gainer declares his love for her while in the middle of a battle against a mind-reading opponent, forgetting or unaware that all the stuff he says are being broadcast across the entire Exodus units and some. Progresses to full-facial or full-body blush when she ran across what basically counts as an entire town and gets called out on it.
  • Panzer World Galient: In chapter 6, when another character talks Jordy, about love, his entire face turns bright red.
  • Himeno of Prétear blushes a lot, but that's nothing new for a typical Shōjo heroine. A worse case is Hayate, who displays great blushing skills while around Himeno, especially in the manga version.
  • Princess Tutu:
    • Most of the characters display this at some point, but Fakir — a brooding Jerk with a Heart of Gold — is probably the best at this out of the entire cast (yes, including the girls). There are moments in the show where his ENTIRE face glows bright red, and he's one of the darkest-skinned characters in the show! For a good example, check out the picture from the Please Put Some Clothes On trope page.
    • For blush coverage, you can't beat Ahiru. Her whole naked body went completely red once. Of course, for humour and frequency both, Fakir still comes out on top there.
  • Ranma ½: Ranma and Akane have done this in some of their romantic moments.
    Genma: Oooo! You're blushing.
    Ranma: Grow up, Pop.
  • Yomiko Readman of Read or Die does this twice in the OVA. Both times, it's as a result of fellow British Library agent Nancy Makuhari sneaking up behind her and pinching her cheeks, fiddling with her glasses or otherwise displaying some form of affection toward her. Needless to say, by the end of the series these two have hit pretty much every Les Yay trope in the book.
  • Rosario + Vampire:
    • Rosario + Vampire has Moka Akashiya, who easily blushes when around Tsukune. He could just say something completely random to her such as, "Really?" and she'll blush.'
    • Moka nothing. Top blush in Rosa-Vam goes to Mizore Shirayuki, who may or may not up Karin. Not only is she Never. Seen. NOT. Blushing, she is an abominable snowgirl. How her face gets that hot is a mystery.
  • This is the default expression of everyone in Saikano. Up to the point where the blush sometimes appears to be coming off character' faces and can occasionally get quite distracting. The overuse of luminescent blushing in Saikano leads to the strange effect, that it doesn't even indicate, if a character is really blushing or not. Only when the face of someone turns glaring red, you can tell that he is in an emotional state that would cause a Luminescent Blush (if it wasn't already there).
  • Sailor Moon:
    • The Inner Sailor Senshi, their leader Sailor Moon, and her boyfriend Tuxedo Kamen/Mask, find out that the child they've been looking after is Moon and Mask's Kid from the Future. The parents-to-be blush so deeply that steam appears over their heads. It doesn't help when Sailor Mars barks:
Sailor Mars: WHAT DAY, WEEK, MONTH OR YEAR DID THIS HAPPEN??!!!
    • Infamously in the Super S movie, after killing some Mooks, Sailor Uranus questions whether their plans have good or bad intentions. Sailor Neptune points out that being a child forever is a terrible idea because "there are so many fun things to do as adults." Despite not twitching, Uranus slowly blushes and then awkwardly clears her throat.
    • Sailor Mercury is knocked over in a tight alleyway to the point in which her behind is sticking up in the air. Sailor Jupiter behind her glances up her skirt notably for a long while, whilst blushing and biting her hand.
  • In Act 2 of Sailor Moon Crystal, Usagi blushes when she makes a mental note that her new acquaintance Ami is cute, and Ami, having been friendless, blushes whenever Usagi's affectionate, like when she hugs Ami effusively, tells her she's cuter when she smiles, and when she agrees to be friends.
  • Nodoka of Saki gets these a lot, especially when she's with Saki. She also gets these when she's on a roll while chanelling her Nodocchi persona.
  • This rather common in Sakura Trick. It is a series about cute girls kissing cute girls...
  • The Seven Deadly Sins: In episode 12, Griamore (a hulking Holy Knight) accidentally runs into a completely nude Elizabeth. He gets so embarrassed, his full-face helmet blushes.
  • The Severing Crime Edge:
    • Kiri has this expression on his face whenever he gets "excited" about cutting Iwai's hair.
    • Iwai blushes often due to being easily flustered and shy.
  • Kazumi Yoshida (which makes her very cute) whenever Yuji is around in Shakugan no Shana. Shana doesn't lag too far behind, often coupled with her catchphrase. Especially in the S OAV.
  • In the anime adaptation of Sketchbook, the last episode, the shy Sora's entire face turns a luminescent red as her teacher compliments her artwork.
  • Slayers:
    • Lina Inverse has been known to do this every now and then. The best scene was in a particular episode of Slayers NEXT when Lina and Gourry were talking about how long he would stay her protector. His response led to Lina's face shining brighter than her hair.
    • Amelia in one scene from the same season does one when Zelgadis saves her and Martina from a mind-controlled horde of Ax-Crazy civilians. NEXT in general has quite a few of these, actually. Zelgadis himself gets several (especially in the cross-dressing episode); and Zangulus does one at his wedding in the finale.
    • One flashback in season 5 shows a human Zelgadis blushing when his great-grandfather Rezo touches his cheek and commends him for helping those he heals. The reason? He simply is happy being praised by someone so powerful and valued.
  • Go and watch any episode of Sonic X where Knuckles and Rouge are in the same place. Knuckles will do this at some point, either from anger or embarrassment (usually the latter). His muzzle matches his fur at least a third of the time she's around, for Chaos' sake!
  • Makise Kurisu of Steins;Gate blushes extensively when her dere side shows through, especially around Okabe. It's goddamn adorable. Okabe even does it himself a few times.
  • Karin Koboku in Super Pig is known for this. In some episodes, her entire face turns blood red.
  • Shy and timid Fumi from Sweet Blue Flowers blushes extensively throughout most of the series, but especially so when she talks to a girl she likes. Peculiarly, the only other character who perhaps blushes even more is outgoing and energetic Haruka.
  • This happens a few times in the OVA adaptation of Tales of Symphonia:
    • At the beginning of the first episode, Lloyd goes completely red in the face after Colette compliments the necklace he gave her for her birthday, despite the fact he knew it wasn’t very well made, and admitted as such directly to her.
    • Early in the Tethe’alla Arc, when Genis tries to strike up a conversation, he briefly goes completely red-faced.
    • Near the end of Episode 4 of the Tethe’alla Arc, Lloyd compliments Sheena after she says she’ll stick with the group to take down Cruxis. She tries to back-pedal and say she’s only going along out of curiosity about Origin. Zelos and Genis both take notice and start teasing.
  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann:
    • Even Kamina manifests a blush once. While he's preaching to Simon that he should defeat his hunger with fighting spirit, Kamina's stomach growls as well. Cue Kamina saying "Uh... me too?" followed by a blush and a nervous laugh.
    • In the final episode, Simon does a blush when Nia excitedly shows him her wedding gown. Why is it emotional? Because just now he's coming back from having destroyed an entire fucking UNIVERSE to get her back. Yes, he loves her that much. The scene is powerful because the man who was running on concentrated Hot Bloodedness for the entire arc is now doing something as mundane as blushing.
    • In the high school AU Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Guren Gakuenhen Yoko starts blushing when Kamina comments on how well she fills out the bikini she's wearing. He misinterprets her flushed face as a mere sunburn.
Kamina: Huh? Why's your face red? You sunburnt already?
Yoko: I suppose you're just being you...
  • Karina/Blue Rose from Tiger & Bunny has taken to developing luminescent blushes around Kotetsu once her crush on him goes from subtle to obvious enough that Everyone Can See It (except Kotetsu). Half of anything he does in her presence is liable to turn her red.
  • Yami in To Love Ru Darkness when she does not want to admit her new feeling for Rito during a Suspiciously Specific Denial speech.
  • Toradora!'s Taiga is prone to breaking out into one, especially where Yuusaku and (increasingly) Ryuuji are concerned. The full-body version occurs when Ryuuji finally tells Taiga he loves her in the final episode's end credits epilogue.
  • True Tears: Noe when Shinichirou confesses to her.
  • Lucia from Venus Versus Virus gets these quite often when she's with Sumire, however Sumire almost always has one on, to the point that it's lampshaded.
  • Mahiru Inami from Wagnaria!! has this constantly. It doesn't help that she's also always anxious about uncontrollably punching any men near her. When attempting to hand out a Valentine's Day gift, she gets so nervous she partially melts the chocolate she's holding.
  • Appears all the time in Wandering Son. It's essentially impossible to find a chapter of the manga where Nitori doesn't blush for at least one panel, and if she isn't blushing then someone else is.
  • In Wild Fangs, Mao has a really prominent blush after talking to so many girls all at once.
  • Wild Rock: Yuuen is prone to this.
  • Used copiously and to great effect in The World God Only Knows. Haqua probably does it most often, and not just because she's present in more scenes.
  • Yuri Katsuki of Yuri!!! on Ice is prone to this, especially towards his idol and coach Victor. A prominent example of this can be seen in episode 10, when he exchanges what are essentially engagement rings with Victor.

Top
