Please Bully Me, Miss Villainess!Original title is a Chinese yuri "Reborn as Villainess" Story Web Serial Novel written by Chise and Ciwei Mao Yuedu.

The protagonist Yvonne is reincarnated into the Otome Game Wings of the Heart as the rich villainess. According to the game's plot, her character is loathed by everyone and is primarily there for bullying the heroine, inadvertently pushing her towards the various love interests' romantic routes. But it seems like there's something wrong with Elsa, the heroine, — she's getting too close to Yvonne!

The comic contains examples of the following tropes:

    open/close all folders

     Tropes A to L
  • Adaptation Explanation Extrication: The manhua adaptation removes some of the worldbuilding, as well as an explanation of why Yvonne was exiled (her family was accused of working with demons) and how it affected her.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Elsa often calls Yvonne "Evie." Yvonne's mom calls Elsa "Ellie".
  • All There in the Manual: The ending of the chapters of the fan translation includes what was different in the light novel, if possible without spoiling.
  • Always Chaotic Evil: In Yvonne's inner thoughts in Chapter 42, she thinks to herself that she and Elsa will meet the dangerous race of demons and that unlike the other races, demons have always hated humans and are volatile and unpredictable. Averted with Sister Dahlia, who's a Nice Girl as well as the Demon King thanks to the kindess shown by the children at the orphanage
  • Anachronism Stew: Garth outright uses the word "yuri", in the wrong time and place.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Yvonne yells at Elsa in Chapter 83 for having taken the curse on Yvonne's mom into Elsa.
  • April Fools' Day: A joke chapter was published on April 1, 2023 that changes the Villainess System to try and get Yvonne and Elsa to get together, punishes Yvonne for saying the tiniest things and changes important events of previous chapters to say Yvonne's going back in time and the events are being changed.
  • Arranged Marriage: Yvonne and Prince Michel are in one as Chapter 70 reveals. Yvonne is none too pleased as she'd much rather be with Elsa.
  • Artifact Title: After the "Villainess System" stops appearing until Chapter 58, the title turns into this as Yvonne is no longer bullying Elsa.
  • As You Know:Chapter 71 has Yvonne and Elsa's teacher explaining that magic is usually only found in royalty, serving as a status symbol and proof of royal blood and that while mostly exclusive to royalty, it may suddenly appear in commoners as well. Lampshaded when Yvonne demands he cut the historical nonsense and move on to testing.
  • Awkwardly Gay Dream: Yvonne dreams about caressing and kissing Elsa immediately after accidentally having an intimate moment with her in reality — and is hugely confused by it.
  • Bad "Bad Acting": Chapter 69 has Yvonne declaring that she wants to bully Elsa and Elsa will be her playmate. It's obvious to Elsa (and the readers) that Yvonne is just doing this to protect Elsa.
  • Bad Future: Chapter 61 shows many people, including Yvonne, dead as a result of the monsters rampaging via vision Future Elsa shows Yvonne if she does not travel back in time.
  • Bait-and-Switch:
    • In Chapter 41 of the manhua, when Yvonne and Elsa arrive in the forest, Yvonne comments that they've been there a while, but haven't seen any magical creatures which Yvonne thinks to herself is strange because it's supposed to be a challenge level in the original game and as such magical creatures should appear. Elsa suggests it's probably because Sphynx is there and magical creatures are instinctively afraid of beings stronger than them so they won't actively attack Yvonne and Elsa to which Yvonne says "...Perhaps that is the case". It turns out that Future Elsa had been in the forest at the same time, knocked out all the magical creatures and used her magic to make them sleep.
    • In Chapter 64, Elsa tells the Prince she doesn't care if he's gone for a year or a decade before saying the problem is...how is she supposed to join in on the swordsmanship training?
    • Chapter 74 ends with Cat Girl!Yvonne about to look like she's about to have sex with Elsa again...and then the next chapter starts with her licking Elsa in a playful manner.
  • Batman Gambit: In Chapter 72, Yvonne puts up a fuss about not wanting to get out of bed after swordsmanship training so Linda the maid would send in Elsa and result in Yvonne and Elsa sleeping together.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Elsa falls in love with Yvonne because Yvonne's the only one who was nice to Elsa. This also applies after Yvonne is mentally sent back in time and rescues Elsa from the Orphanage of Fear and treats her nicely at the castle.
  • Berserk Button: Downplayed, but in Chapter 71, Yvonne sees Elsa isn't using all of her magic power in a demonstration. When Yvonne asks Elsa why (as she thinks Elsa is lying, hence her getting mad), Elsa admits that after all of the nice things that Yvonne did to her, Yvonne might hate Elsa. Yvonne, of course, is horrified.
  • Bifauxnen: In Chapter 63, the Prince's bodyguard looks like this, having long red hair and wearing a suit of armor.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • Yvonne's Nightmare Sequence ends with Future Elsa showing up (though only her arm is seen) and declaring that she won't allow Yvonne to be hung and reiterates her promise to always be by Yvonne's side
    • In Chapter 49, the Demon King saves Elsa from a possessed Yvonne with her shackling magic and after Yvonne breaks free, Sister Dahlia shows up and uses her powers to get rid of the Succubus Blood from Yvonne
    • In Chapter 59, Faye uses her shackling magic to save Annie from a werewolf.
    • Twice in Chapter 60, first when Yvonne uses her magic to save Faye and Annie and again when Future Elsa saves Yvonne, Faye and Annie with her magic.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Elsa gives one to Yvonne in Chapter 86 so she doesn't forget that.
  • Big Eater: The Demon King loves to eat which may have something to do with the food in the Demon World not being as good (in an internal monologue in Chapter 46, the Demon King thinks to herself that the soil in the Demon World is poor and plants can only grow with the infusion of magic).
  • Big "WHAT?!": In Chapter 64, Yvonne's dad has this in response to Yvonne wanting to do swordsmanship training.
  • Blatant Lies: In Chapter 62, Linda the maid asks Yvonne if she has another reason for visiting the worn-down village. Yvonne says no but her internal monologue reveals she's pegged it as where Elsa used to live. Chapter 68 reveals Linda figured it out.
  • But Thou Must!: In the light novel version, the villainess system once gives Yvonne three identical options: Push Elsa off the roof for 100 points. Yvonne refuses all of them, resulting in the System cosmically punishing her by having her family publicly shamed and exiled.
  • Cat Girl: Chapter 74 has Yvonne turning into one of these due to being possessed by a black cat spirit. It gets forced out of her by Elsa in Chapter 76.
  • Cliffhanger: Played for laughs at the end of Chapter 72 when Yvonne's Arranged Marriage prince shows up and asks the two lovely ladies if they want a spot of tea with him. Yvonne mentally wonders why he's there.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: In Chapter 53, Yvonne thinks to herself about how she doesn't want Elsa to be with any of the love interests and thinking about it makes her very jealous! Likewise, Chapter 57 has her getting upset when she finds out she finds out that she isn't the first person that Elsa kissed.
  • Childhood Marriage Promise: Elsa says she had this with the person she kissed when they were kids given neither she nor the other person remember it.
  • Confused Question Mark: The maid with Yvonne gets one of these in Chapter 78 when Yvonne is thinking to herself about how there's too little information about Count Monte's death, how Yvonne thinks it may have been due to her saving Elsa and the kids but Yvonne's ring hasn't given off a warning.
  • Corner of Woe:
    • Yvonne goes into one of these in Chapter 57 when she finds out that Elsa kissed someone else and then thinks to herself she may have gone a bit overboard
    • Young Elsa enters this in Chapter 77 as even though she knows she can't do anything to help after Yvonne rushes off after receiving Michel's note but being excluded by Yvonne still makes her sad.
  • Covered in Scars: In Chapter 69, Yvonne sees that Elsa's back has these upon raising her shirt in preparation for the bath.
  • Cross-Popping Veins: Yvonne gets this in Chapters 51, 52 and 55 while dealing with Future Elsa's antics and again in Chapter 64 in response to a couple of guards laughing at how short she is.
  • Cute Bookworm: Yvonne and Elsa are rather sweet looking and love reading with Elsa outright calling Yvonne a bookworm when the latter gets excited about finding an out-of-print, handwritten edition of a book she's been looking for at the marketplace at Chapter 47.
  • Cute Indignant Girl Stance: Elsa and Faye pull this off in Chapter 53, Elsa due to Yvonne not fully telling her what's going on, Faye after Yvonne tells the former that Yvonne got donuts for Elsa.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Elsa is revealed to have been living in an abusive household in Chapter 64, explaining her slightly masochist nature in the story.
  • Dark Is Not Evil:
    • Dahlia is a demon (a race who have always hated humans and are hot tempered and can't be predicted) but she's also a very nice woman who runs a foster home and takes care of many kids including Elsa when she was younger and when Dahlia's secret is accidentally exposed to Yvonne, Dahlia apologizes and asks if she scared Yvonne and asks Yvonne to please keep it a secret from "that girl") In Chapter 50, she outright tells Faye that [Sister Dahlia] likes humans and wants to watch from the sidelines as a witness to their fate and it's really interesting.
    • The Demon King as well, because she doesn't do anything bad to anyone and in Chapter 46, Yvonne even thinks to herself that the Demon King isn't evil by nature. This is proven in Chapter 59 when Faye saves Annie from a werewolf.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Chapter 58 focuses mostly on Faye and Annie's relationship
  • Demonic Possession: Yvonne is possessed by a magical cat spirit in Chapter 74. Elsa is able to force it out in Chapter 76.
  • Determinator: After Yvonne undergoes Mental Time Travel back to her seven year old self, she really wants to change the future such as taking up swordsmanship training.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In Chapter 81, some workers of the church try to ask Yvonne to hand over Madame Smollett to them. Instead, Yvonne reveals she knows full well of what's going on, yells at them for trying to make a decision for other people (using unnatural means to seal away the darkness into her mom's body), strikes them with wind magic and orders them out of her sight.
  • Dramatic Drop: At the end of Chapter 30 of the manhua, Elsa drops the spoon in her hand as Garth asks whether she likes Yvonne.
  • Dramatic Irony:
    • Chapter 62 has Linda the maid commenting that the Demon Lord is dead. In the present day, the Demon King is still around but as a little girl with chapter 85 revealing that Faye was around back then too.
    • Chapter 81 ends with Yvonne deciding to take the curse on her mom into her own body, unaware that Elsa has decided the same thing as well due to her control over all the elements.
    • Chapter 85 has Yvonne making Elsa promise to work hard and sealing it with a Pinky Swear. At the end, Yvonne returns to her own time, meaning the regular Yvonne (who has no memories of the prior events from when Yvonne first time traveled) will be back in her body.
  • Dude Magnet: Being an Otome Game heroine, Elsa is naturally one. However, unlike most examples, she is aware of that and dislikes being one, as she doesn't see herself as anything special, and the attention attracts jealousy from other girls, contributing to her Friendless Background.
  • Elemental Powers: Elsa is considered a prodigy because she can use all five elements, while the average magic user can only use one.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Elsa buys a Love Potion at a marketplace but decides not to use it on Yvonne due to not wanting to use something dubious. When Yvonne opens it and gets possessed by the potion, Elsa says she likes Yvonne feeling her up but she'd rather Yvonne do it while clear-headed!
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Downplayed as Faye isn't evil but she asks why Sister Dahlia is a demon and yet is pretending to be human and living in the human world. Sister Dahlia says it's because she likes humans and wants to watch from the sidelines as a witness to their fate and it's really interesting.
  • Evil Pays Better: Completing the tasks presented by the Villainess System gives Yvonne "villainess points", which she could use to improve her situation. However, she always chooses the least harmful tasks, which give zero points. And outright rejecting the tasks can cause her situation to get much worse.
  • Eyelid Pull Taunt: Yvonne gives one of these to Aaron in chapter 65 to goad him into attacking during their practice duel.
  • Facepalm: Linda the maid's response when Yvonne refuses to eat in Chapter 62.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: Yvonne's dad refuses to let her indulge her 'fleeting interest' in learning swordfighting, even after she demonstrates prodigious skill due to her mental time travel. In chapter 65 he even confines her to her room rather than let her train, justifying it by saying she has the same magic and weak constitution that nearly killed her mother.
  • Forced Sleep:
    • The future version of Elsa uses her powers to make a bear she knocked out go to sleep. In Chapter 55, shes slips something in Yvonne's herbal tea to make her fall asleep as "punishment" for Yvonne "abandoning" her "date" with Elsa halfway through.
    • In Chapter 82, Elsa and Linda put a sleeping herb in Yvonne's tea as Elsa wants to be the one to bear Yvonne's mother's curse and since Elsa had already expressed her desire to take Yvonne's place, Linda has no reason to stop her...
  • Foreshadowing: In Chapter 36, Yvonne has a vision of a future, cloaked version of Elsa telling the former to not beat herself up and it wasn't her fault and Elsa will always be by Yvonne's side past or future. In Chapter 37, said future version appears and uses her powers to alter the Villainess System to display a Lesser of Two Evils choice.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: Most of Chapter 79 is about Elsa seeing the demon Lana's past.
  • Funny Background Event:
    • After Future Elsa uses her time magic to freeze the wolves attacking Faye, Annie and Yvonne, a random bird got frozen too.
    • At the end of Chapter 69, one of Yvonne's maids reacts this way upon seeing Yvonne eat on the floor alongside Elsa.
  • Future Badass: The future version of Elsa who's able to use her magic to outright change what the villainess system displays when it appears to Yvonne and knock out magical creatures in a forest and make them sleep. She explains in Chapter 55 that she's a witch of some sort and Chapter 60 shows she can control time and send people through time.
  • Getting Crap Past the Radar: The scene in Chapter 49 when the Succubus Blood-possessed Yvonne seduces Elsa is rather risque for what had been a child-friendly story up to this point. Likewise, the start of Chapter 57 which has Yvonne and Elsa kissing is also pretty daring and 57.5 is all about the duo having sex.
  • A God I Am Not: Future Elsa can time travel and has the ability to warp reality to an extent. Being Elsa, she uses these powers to help Yvonne and present Elsa. In Chapter 55, she explains that she can't reveal who she is to Yvonne or else Future Elsa would be punished.
  • Growling Gut: Yvonne in Chapter 62, after not eating for who knows how long.
  • Halfway Plot Switch:After Yvonne and Elsa become an Official Couple, Chapter 61 has Yvonne being sent back in time via Mental Time Travel to change things in the past so a demon uprising will not come to pass.
  • Hard Work Hardly Works: Averted in Chapter 47 as Yvonne tells Elsa at the marketplace that everything Elsa has now was due to Elsa's hard work.
  • Hates Being Touched: Elsa in Chapter 69, due to what she went through at the orphanage.
  • Hate Sink: Like most "Reborn as Villainess" Story series, Yvonne, the villainess character, was intended to be absolutely despicable and have no redeeming qualities in her original game incarnation. Yvonne's father also counts in the original story, since the novel points out that while players might feel some pity for his beautiful villainess daughter, they wouldn't feel any sympathy for an evil duke getting what he deserves.
  • Healing Potion: Chapter 69 has Yvonne grabbing a bunch of extremely expensive and top-notch healing potions and pouring them into her and Elsa's bath to heal the scars on Elsa's back. Yvonne claims it's just a few and they should have more in the storehouse...despite holding about fourteen bottles of the stuff!
  • Hidden Eyes: The future version of Elsa's eyes are covered by her hood. We get a look at her eyes in Chapter 51.
  • Idea Bulb: Faye gets one of these in Chapter 53 when thinking of how to get Yvonne to share her donuts.
  • Imagine Spot: Elsa has one of these in Chapter 83 while enduring the curse that was on Yvonne's mom. It's Elsa, when she was at the orphanage, in a ratty shirt and covered in lashes only for her to be comforted by a smiling Yvonne.
  • Jaw Drop: In Chapter 62, once Linda the maid says she'll accompany Yvonne, Yvonne does one of these in shock.
  • Just Toying with Them: Yvonne realizes this about Aaron in Chapter 65 after noticing he's not using all of his strength despite having been taunted by Yvonne into attacking during their practice duel.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Chapter 85 has Faye suggesting that the demons simply quit restarting hostilities as the ritual's already failed and the demon realm's suffered a lot of tribulations since the last war.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: The abusive child slave owner gets his comeuppance in Chapter 68 when Yvonne "purchases" him, has Linda the maid slice one of his hands off and Yvonne sends him off to the mines.
  • Later-Installment Weirdness: The Villainess System hasn't appeared ever since Future Elsa used her powers to change what the system displayed in Chapter 37. Yvonne does comment in a later chapter that the Villainess System hasn't appeared. That said, it does make an appearance in Chapter 56, when Yvonne is thinking about how she could only perform on a limited stage, gasping for breath and yet Elsa still chose Yvonne. Also, after Yvonne and Elsa get together, the chapters outright show them having sex, but luckily don't actually show most of anything, just the actions. However, it unexpectedly returns in Chapter 58 which is implied due to something happening to Future Elsa and demonic beasts suddenly starting to attack
  • Lesser of Two Evils: The Villainess System gives Yvonne a choice of which bullying task to perform, typically consisting of two that physically harm Elsa and one that just inconveniences her. Yvonne always goes for the last one.
  • Light Is Good: Sister Dahlia uses her powers which take the form of a ring of light to get rid of the Succubus Blood that's possessing Yvonne. Especially notable because Sister Dahlia is a demon!
  • Little Bit Beastly: In Chapter 62, one of Yvonne's maids has cat ears on her head.
  • Loophole Abuse: Often times the Villainess System gives Yvonne tasks with quite a bit of wiggle room. For example, when it forces her to lock Elsa in a storage closet it allows Yvonne to sit with her for the duration of the task.
  • Lost in Translation: In the Fan Translation of Chapter 54 of the Manhua, Faye says that Yvonne would like to be Elsa's mother. A footnote explains in the Chinese version, Faye mixes up her words and says "Qinniang" ("birth mother" instead of "xinniang" (bride)
  • Love Potion: Elsa sees one of these for sale at a marketplace she and Yvonne go to at the end of Chapter 47. In Chapter 48, Elsa buys the potion as the salesman tells her it's an elixir that can reawaken someone's buried feelings. Elsa decides not to use the potion because it's dubious and has unknown origins and she doesn't want to use it on Yvonne willy-nilly. Elsa hides the potion, but does so poorly, causing Yvonne to find it and open it and become affected by it. As it turns out, it's Succubus Blood which nearly turns Yvonne into one had it not been for Faye restraining her and Sister Dahlia purifying Yvonne. Chapter 50 reveals that Future Elsa pawned off the Succubus Blood on the merchant (while passing herself off as an alchemist) to get Yvonne to act on her feelings for Elsa.
  • Loving Bully: Enforced by the Villainess System. Yvonne holds absolutely no ill will towards Elsa and even grows quite fond and protective of her. However, the Villainess System forces her to bully her or face hefty punishment. Eventually averted after the Villainess System vanishes and Yvonne and Elsa officially get together. Elsa herself seems to think Yvonne is this trope played straight, being a willing participant in her "bullying" to get closer to her crush.
  • Luminescent Blush:
    • Yvonne has one of these in Chapter 53, after accidentally getting an eyeful of Elsa changing.
    • Elsa has these in Chapter 78, when she's interacting with Yvonne's mother.
     Tropes M to Y
  • Manipulative Bastard: Averted. Faye tries this with Elsa due to the former needing a way to recover her magic and return to the demon world. Yvonne puts a stop to that real quick. Played for laughs in Chapter 53, when she calls out to the orphanage kids that Yvonne's treating everyone to food after Yvonne refuses to share her donuts with Faye, saying she got them for Elsa.
  • Medieval European Fantasy: While Chinese writers tend to write their novels in a more Sinitic setting, Please Bully Me, Miss Villainess! is set in a land of castles and magic, like most "Reborn as Villainess" stories written elsewhere.
  • Mental Time Travel: Chapter 62 has Yvonne being sent back in time to when she was a little girl but still retains her adult memories. Chapter 87 reveals that Yvonne's child self was placed into Yvonne's adult body and Future Evie supervised her for two months.
  • Microtransactions: While Yvonne beta-tested Wings of the Heart in her past life, she didn't consider finishing the game owing to the game having a gacha mechanic. This is why she knows about the setting and mechanics, but not the story.
  • The Mind Is A Play Thing Of The Body:In Chapter 75, Yvonne starts acting like an actual cat after getting possessed by a black cat spirit such as letting out a long meow after Elsa licks her.
  • Mood Whiplash: All over the place such as Chapter 57 which ends with Future Elsa being affected by her magical power quickly draining and wondering if she can rewrite fate with her last chance.
  • Morton's Fork: In the manhua, the first "villainess task" Yvonne received (and rebels on) involves two choices: killing Elsa by pushing her off the roof, or pulling a Murder by Inaction by letting Elsa be Driven to Suicide by jumping off the same roof.
  • Mysterious Protector: Whatever Future Elsa's motives are (and she can't explain who she is to Yvonne otherwise, Future Elsa would be punished as well), she is seen helping Yvonne and her present day self only. This pays off in Chapter 56.
  • Nightmare Sequence: Yvonne has one in Chapter 43 about her going to be hung and an alternate, villainous version of her saying that the ending was caused by Yvonne's foolishness alone and that everyone will leave her and she'll die a miserable death. Yvonne says that she doesn't want things to end like this and reaching for the noose, says that she doesn't want to be all alone again and she'd rather end it all than end up that way. Luckily, Future Elsa arrives and stops Evie's hand declaring "Things won't end like that!!!" and then reiterates that no matter what happens, Elsa will always be by Yvonne's side.
  • Non-Verbal Miscommunication: In Chapter 54, three of the kids from the orphanage sign and gesture what Faye's supposed to say to Elsa when giving her the bouquet of flowers from Yvonne. Faye says Yvonne wants to be Elsa's mother! Yvonne lampshades this wondering when she ever said that
  • Not a Game: When Yvonne, having traveled back in time to when she was young, asks to participate in the knights' training, the knight in charge tells her that "This isn't some children's game."
  • Not So Above It All: Chapter 87 reveals that due to the time magic's effects, Future Elsa had to supervise a certain stubborn and overly-energetic child for two months. Had Yvonne taken any longer, Future Elsa's time stop magic and patience most likely would have given out.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Elsa does this to Alta when the latter rants about Yvonne being a noble who looks down on others, pointing out that bullying Yvonne in the name of "justice" makes her no better.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: In Chapter 65, Aaron seems like a stuck-up twerp. Then, it turns out he's actually a really good swordfighter and it takes Yvonne having to form a sword with her wind magic to win.
  • Oblivious to Love: Yvonne doesn't notice Elsa's rather obvious crush on her Until Chapter 51, where Yvonne does consider that she likes Elsa after it's revealed Future Elsa's Succubus Blood amplifies feelings and finally kisses Elsa in Chapter 56
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: The future version of Elsa knocks out a bunch of magical creatures in a forest with the reader seeing her making a bear she knocked out go to sleep
  • Offscreen Teleportation: Future Elsa mysteriously disappears when Yvonne tells Present Elsa the former was speaking with the "potion maker". Yvonne is none too pleased because the bartender tells Yvonne that "the hooded lady" said that Elsa would be paying for the alcohol!
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Yvonne gets this in Chapter 34 when she sees a bunch of grubs on strings descending from the tree she's sitting under. Thankfully, Elsa uses her magic to make the grubs retreat.
    • Faye three times in Chapter 45 due to Yvonne's protectiveness of Elsa and being able to tell what Faye's up to.
    • Elsa in Chapter 48 when she sees Yvonne opened the potion bottle and has been affected by it!
    • Yvonne in Chapter 53, when she realizes that the Light and Shadow Magic Show has ended and while wondering if Elsa left and thinking to herself that Elsa will definitely be mad at Yvonne and wonders what she should say to apologize when she gets back, Yvonne sees Elsa sitting by herself on the bench, holding her bouquet of flowers!
    • Annie in Chapter 58, when she's stalked by a werewolf in the woods and has to remain calm and hold her breath as Elsa taught Annie the worse things get, the calmer Annie has to be. Then, Annie has another one when she realizes what appears to be rain is the werewolf's drool!
    • Chapter 61 has Yvonne seeing what would happen if she does not travel back in time.
    • Chapter 63 has two: first when Yvonne realizes she's undergone Mental Time Travel, being in a seven year-old's body while retaining her adult mind and the other one when she realizes she addressed her dad as "Lord Father".
    • Chapter 83 has Linda doing this when she sees Elsa be heavily affected by the curse that was on Yvonne's mother and wonders if the duchess was enduring this sort of pain all the time.
    • Two from Yvonne in Chapter 84. First, when Linda the maid asks if Yvonne came from the future and again when Linda reveals that Elsa must be separated from Yvonne.
  • Older Than They Look: Yuna, a dwarf, is a teacher at Yvonne and Elsa's school, but looks even younger than Elsa.
  • Omake: Two of them:
    • The first one is 40.5: Unofficial Extra: Please Look Cute Miss Villainess! containing three non-canon strips such as Yvonne pulling a This Is My Side on Elsa...only for Yvonne to come over to Elsa's side!
    • The second one, simply called "A Vignette" is about Yvonne and Elsa while they're having sex.
  • Our Elves Are Different: Linda the maid in Chapter 62 is an elf who signed a century long contract with the Smollett house. She's taught Yvonne some magic and Yvonne's parents show her an unusual amount of respect. Chapter 84 reveals that Elves are descendants of the Goddess who have protected the World Tree, living peaceful lives. Every few centuries, a successor to the Goddess's power is born: an Elven Saint who can see the currents of time and guide their people. A sage named Bella obtained the prophecy of the "Starchild" from an Elven Saint many years ago but did not want her people to be drawn into war and it was said that she made the prophecy.
  • Our Time Travel Is Different: When Yvonne asks about how time travel works to Future Elsa, the latter responds that there's an innumerable number of potential ways for the exact event to play out, but it can only result in one definite outcome. But for the past, the present is the sole possibility and unless critical or irreversible moments of cause-and-effect are affected, all timelines should converge to this point. Yvonne can also use some magic to bring people in to the time stop which she uses to bring in adult Evie. She also confirms she remembers everythingfrom their childhoods.
  • Parental Title Characterization: After Yvonne travels back in time, Duke Smollett is shocked that his younger daughter is calling him "Lord Father" rather than "Dada" or "Pappy."
  • Playful Cat Smile: Yvonne sports one in Chapter 69 when telling Elsa that they're girls and they can bathe together.
  • Point of Divergence: Chapter 63 is all about Yvonne thinking about the original game and what happened that caused Game!Yvonne to become a villain such as her mother dying and how Yvonne's actions have changed things for the better.
  • The Prophecy: Chapter 84 has Linda the maid telling Yvonne about how many years ago, an Elven sage named Bella obtained the prophecy of the "Starchild" from an Elven Saint. This Starchild of Prophecy would be the only one capable of completing the Sage's purification magic and as such, Elsa (given that she has unparalleled magical talent and affinity for all elements just like the person spoken of in the prophecy), realized she too might be the "key" and that's why Elsa chose to take on the dark magic for Yvonne's sake.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Faye does this to Elsa in Chapter 45 to get her to feel bad for Faye but Yvonne sees through it and yanks Faye back.
  • Railroading: In Chapter 41, Yvonne tells Elsa that Yvonne's sure that Miss Dahlia will be perfectly fine and when Elsa asks Yvonne how she's sure, Yvonne says to consider it Yvonne's intuition. Yvonne then thinks to herself that she's had a vague feeling from the beginning that there's an invisible force adjusting the equilibrium of the world as even if Yvonne purposefully changes where and when she met people, the original events still occur. Even if she didn't bully Elsa, for instance, new people appear to bully her, but when Yvonne unlocked the Exile ending, a great deal changed including the plot. The changes were intended to preserve the progression of the game's original routes and what's happening now should be no different. She then thinks that if the goal is to force Elsa to return to where she's supposed to be, then nothing should have happened to Miss Dahlia which is proven correct when they finally arrive. Though it looks like the future version of Elsa has something to say about the Railroading situation as in Chapter 55, she says she "exploited a bug" when she gave Yvonne the "antidote" which was just a stabilizing agent for the Succubus' blood and as Yvonne falls asleep due to Future Elsa's potion, Future Elsa tells Yvonne not to be a stickler for the rules that constrain her and to face her feelings head on. Averted fully in Chapter 56, which ends with Yvonne and Elsa kissing while Yvonne thinks to herself that the heroine could choose from more than 50 romantic options, yet there was not an ending where the heroine and villainess get together. Yvonne decides "So what?" and that she will open a new route that currently does not exist.
  • "Reborn as Villainess" Story: The protagonist is reborn as the lead villainess Yvonne into an otome game that she had beta tested and is pushed by a "villainess system" to bully the heroine Elsa (via quasi-diegetic UI message prompts). When she rebels against this system, however, Elsa falls in love with and follows her into exile, throwing the whole plot Off the Rails. While Yvonne is still pestered by the system to bully Elsa, it becomes a wacky Yuri Genre comedy from that point onward.
  • Rejected Apology: Elsa rejects Alta's apology to her, not because she's still bitter about Alta bullying her, but because Alta hasn't apologized for her treatment of Yvonne.
  • The Reveal: In chapter 62, the other reason why Yvonne and Linda the maid are visiting a run-down village is because Yvonne has pegged that as where Elsa was living when she was a child.
  • Riddle for the Ages: It's never explained how the protagonist was reborn as Yvonne. Likewise, it so far hasn't been explained how Elsa became an incredibly powerful magic user as an adult with one of the abilities being to alter what the Villainess System displays.
  • Shipper on Deck: Yvonne's cousin, Garth, is secretly a giant Yuri Fan and uses his knowledge to try to help Elsa win over Yvonne.
  • Shout-Out: Once when Yvonne is waiting for Elsa at the restaurant the latter works, Yvonne is seen reading Goodbye, My Rose Garden. Yvonne doesn't really get the manga is a yuri manga.
  • Sleep Cute: Yvonne and Elsa, many times with it being completely willing on Yvonne's part in Chapter 58. Chapter 68 also ends with the child versions of Yvonne and Elsa asleep this way.
  • Stock Shoujo Bullying Tactics: Both Yvonne and Elsa suffer from this in the main story, usually through Alta. For example, Yvonne gets her lunch dumped on her by Alta in Chapter 4 to make fun of Yvonne's family's being The Exile, while in Chapter 6 Elsa's uniforms get cut up by Alta's accomplices.
  • Shrinking Violet: Garth was extremely shy as a child.
  • Speak in Unison: Chapter 73 has Yvonne and Elsa do this when Linda the maid suggests that they can both ride another horse.
  • Stable Time Loop: Chapter 70 reveals that Yvonne was responsible for many facets of Elsa's life such as Elsa being the heroine of her own story, having Two First Names and teaching Elsa how to read. In a more comical example, Chapter 74 reveals that Elsa using her powers to force the Magical Cat Spirit out of Yvonne was what caused Garth to gain an interest in Girl's Love. Chapter 84 sets up how Elsa first goes to the magical academy and reiterates her desire to live as Elsa Dorothy. Chapter 87 confirms that Yvonne remembers everything.
  • The Starscream: The wolf demon in Chapter 85 appears to be wanting to do this to Faye as he doesn't think she as the spirit of the previous demon lord.
  • Status Quo Is God: Yvonne thinks to herself in Chapter 53 that she needs to do this in regards to her relationship with Elsa...before noting it isn't working as just locking eyes with Elsa makes Yvonne's heart beat like crazy. Future Elsa lampshades this in Chapter 55 as Yvonne falls into a Forced Sleep, telling Yvonne that she shouldn't let the rules constrain her and to act on her feelings. Yvonne even thinks about this in Chapter 56, even after she became a villainess, no matter how hard she struggled, she could only perform on a predetermined stage, gasping for breath and yet Elsa chose Yvonne.
  • Super-Deformed: Characters often appear in this style at various points in the manhua.
  • Taken for Granite: Yvonne's temporary response when she learns she wasn't the first person that Elsa kissed, complete with her head cracking!
  • Tampering with Food and Drink:
    • In Chapter 55, Future Elsa puts a substance into Yvonne's herbal tea that causes Yvonne to fall into a Forced Sleep.
    • In Chapter 82, Elsa and Linda put a sleeping herb in Yvonne's tea as Elsa wants to be the one to bear Yvonne's mother's curse and since Elsa had already expressed her desire to take Yvonne's place, Linda has no reason to stop her...
  • A Taste of the Lash: Young Elsa gets this in Chapter 67 due to not bringing enough money to the house where she and the other kids are kept and saying she'll still do what's right.
  • Time Master: In Chapter 60, Future Elsa sacrifices one of the rings on her hand to create a huge time stopping area of effect to freeze the wolves attacking Annie, Faye and Yvonne, claiming it's a measure to buy time and can send Yvonne back in time to before the creatures appeared and when Yvonne asks why Future Elsa can't do it herself, the latter responds that Yvonne's existence is one-of-a-kind and no one else can replace her and she hold the power to change everything.
  • Time Stands Still: Chapter 60 has Future Elsa sacrificing one of the rings on her fingers to cast a big area of effect time freezing spell to freeze some wolves attacking Annie, Faye and Yvonne (as well as a random bird flying by) but Future Elsa claims it's a temporary measure to save time.
  • Time Skip: Chapter 57.5 takes place "a significant amount of time" after Chapter 57.
  • Title Drop: Each chapter of the manhua is named after a line in the chapter.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: Elsa is rather unbothered by the fact that her crush is trying to bully her. To be fair, most of Yvonne's bullying is rather pathetic, at least as long as the Villainess System allows for Loophole Abuse.
  • Toplessness from the Back: Yvonne first sees Elsa this way in Chapter 53, with an embarrassed Yvonne asking Elsa to say something if Elsa's going to be changing in there!
  • Totally Radical: The Fan Translation of Chapter 46 has the Demon King starting her question to Yvonne for more soup with a "Yo". Chapter 85 reveals that she's been saying "Yo" even as an adult.
  • Training Montage: Yvonne gets into one of these in Chapter 62 as she gets better at training with the young royals.
  • The Trickster: Future Elsa pawns a bottle of Succubus Blood on a merchant at a marketplace, knowing full well that the potion is simply a catalyst that amplifies feelings and desires, because Yvonne secretly loves Elsa but hasn't yet acted on it. Likewise, in Chapter 55, she slips a substance into Yvonne's drink which sends the latter into a Forced Sleep as "punishment" for confronting Future Elsa instead of watching the Light and Shadow Magic Show with Elsa.
  • Tsundere: Yvonne, though not exactly by choice. She is constantly (up until Chapter 37) hounded by an entity called the Villainess System that compels her to bully Elsa and punishes her if she dares defy it. She also has to act this way to child Elsa but that's because child Elsa doesn't know who Yvonne is yet.
  • Two First Names: The game protagonist's name, the official name in-universe, is Elsa Dorothy. Chapter 70 reveals this is due to Elsa not having a surname when she was a child, so Yvonne gives her Dorothy as her surname because she likes The Wizard of Oz so much.
  • Undying Loyalty: Yvonne's maid to her in Chapter 62, who promises Yvonne she will help Yvonne in any way she can. In Chapter 74, after Yvonne calls Elsa cute, the latter responds with "Yep! You're my favorite, my lady! I'll do anything for you!
  • Unknowingly in Love: Yvonne is a human player reincarnated as the lead villainess of an Otome Game, who accidentally finds herself the target of the heroine Elsa's affections. It takes her a long time to realize that Elsa's feelings are romantic in nature (though mainly because the original game contained no Lesbian Option route, let alone a villainess one), and she is still (the novel is unfinished at the time of writing this) stumped by what it is exactly she herself feels towards her, earning her the Fan-Nickname "neutronium girl", because she is just that dense. She ends up getting affected by a bottle of Succubus Blood and when she confronts Future Elsa, the latter says that the potion is merely a catalyst which amplifies feelings and desires and the potion's effects wouldn't have happened if Yvonne didn't already like Elsa in the first place. Then, Chapter 52 ends with Yvonne and Elsa holding hands as Yvonne thinks to herself that she does like Elsa! In Chapter 56, she does confess to Elsa that she likes her and wants to kiss her and the chapter ends with the two doing so.
  • Unsound Effect: The Fan Translation makes heavy use of this including *in a rush* and *freeze*. Reaches hilarious levels in Chapter 72 when Elsa tiptoeing over to Yvonne's bed has *Silently tip-toeing*.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Chapter 44 has Yvonne looking for Elsa who, as it turns out, went into the woods with the kids to gather firewood and pick fruits and mushrooms. Elsa and the kids return with a little girl with horn and white hair. After Dahlia puts the child to bed, Yvonne thinks to herself that a mole under the eye and a broken horn on the head are characteristics of the Demon King. After wondering why the Demon King is a girl, Yvonne thinks that she's heard that demons can change their gender when they're adults...but as a love interest, the Demon King ought to be male , so she decides to lift up the girl's robe to make sure, prompting a hilarious reaction from Elsa and another girl.
    • In Chapter 50, Yvonne confronts the merchant who sold Evie the Succubus Blood and threatens him with what would happen if she were to present it to the court. The merchant reveals that two days ago, an alchemist (Future Elsa) pawned it to him and told him that if someone were to ask where the potion came from, to tell them to head to the Riddler Tavern as she'd be there at night! After he begs Yvonne to spare him because his family depends on him, Yvonne thinks to herself that she'll have to pay the Riddler Tavern a visit...
  • Wham Line:

    • At the end of Chapter 51, Future Elsa tells Yvonne that in regards to the lingering effects of the Succubus Blood that "It's normal to react when you're in love, young lady". Then when Yvonne says "I-in love?! You've got to be kidding me!" To which Future Elsa decides to dispel Yvonne's misconceptions by saying "There is no potion in this world that can manufacture feelings that didn't exist before. Therefore, it's not the potion that caused you to have those thoughts. The potion is simply a catalyst that amplifies feelings and desires. If you didn't already like that person in the first place, it wouldn't have had this effect." To which Yvonne responds with "H-how could that be?" while thinking "I like Elsa...?"

  • Wham Shot:
    • Chapter 37 ends with what appears to be a future version of Elsa (she's got a hood covering her face and rings on her hand) using her powers...to edit the Villainess System that only displayed "push the heroine down the stairs" to also display "Let the heroine get wet by the rain" which is one of the least harmful tactics that Yvonne prefers.
    • At the end of Chapter 42, a strong wind blows off Dahlia's veil and when Yvonne picks it up, she notices that Dahlia's hair and eye colors have changed, due to their being a full moon. Future Elsa then says it's her final ace up her sleeve and asks if Yvonne's willing to take the gamble with her to go back to the past, turn fate around and change the future.
