These are recommendations made by tropers for Sonic The Hedgehog fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. After a few samples, you will be able to note the interests of the tropers recommending them, and judge whether you might be also interested in a certain 'fic.

Remember the rules - no self-recommendations. Find somebody else who agrees that your story is great to start the page! Use the template found herenote . Do warn when a fanfic may head into sexual territory or non-canon. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

Reviews of fics are encouraged, but if you choose to write one, please make it substantive, and give specific details about what you liked / disliked in the fic. If you want to give a fic a thumbs-up without writing a full review, you can add your troper handle to the Recommendations Line. Please refrain from posting "Comments" or Conversation in the Main Page though; that goes in the discussion page.

Her best stories are Serendipity, my favourite (mind you I was to put only this fic but I couldn't forget the others!), Preserving You, and BitterSweet. Those three are some of the best fics I have ever read. I am so glad that I have found this site so that I can share them with others, however they're all Sonamy, but I still think you should take a read. Recommended by Speeds My Game.

Only, will she be able to reach her goals without falling for this young fellow or will it all come tumbling down?

  • Tags: Serendipity is a high school one, however does not revolve around it, unlike Bittersweet. Bittersweet may be high school, but it is not as cliché as most high school fics. Preserving You, however, looks to be interesting. Unlike the other two, this one revolves around the normal Sonic universe. They are all Sonamy stories, but I still suggest a read.

      • Summary: Sonic and the crew are requisitioned by G.U.N. to go to highschool undercover to keep an eye on Eggman, the assistant principal at California Mobius High School, but wind up having plenty of zany adventures all the same.

      • Summary: The children of the original group along with some other kids go to California Mobius High School for the Gifted. Some other teenagers who want to either take revenge on the original group's children or who just like violence, most of these kids have powers too.

    • College Life
      • Summary: The group from the last story now go to the Mobian section of NYU and must fight off a new very evil group called the Avengers with super special powers from their stones.

  • The website itself has some pretty good stuff, even if not many authors update. Of those that do, Rae Logan has a sprawling series, Ai Uotani is beginning something with decent writing, T_Striker has some decent stories and some crazy A Us (and promises to eventually start a series with Ai Uotani in which each of their AU Scourges will come together), and Speedy has some excellent oneshots and longer stories.

An Author's Nightmare series by Falconess

  • Synopsis: An intriguing and unique series for two reasons - it is a subversion of self-insertion stories by conception, and each story is written by a different author, tackling a different Sonic universe. Storylines usually feature an ordinary human and Sonic fan getting pulled into the corresponding Sonic universe against their will by the Dimensional Matter Displacer and having their fandom exploited against them by the villain. The author is equipped with the temperament and skillset of a normal human being and must use their wits to get out of their sticky situations and assist their heroes. An Author's Nightmare kicks the series off and features Joanie getting pulled into the wacky world of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. An Author's Nightmare 2: Going Underground has Ryan meeting the triplets from Sonic Underground, though that story and Ryan's representation went a little off course (a fifth anniversary edition was written to revamp the story, but it's still the weakest link in the series by far). April meets the Freedom Fighters of Knothole in An Author's Nightmare 3: Enter Knothole, and An Author's Nightmare 4: Trapped in Tokyo features Sipp lost and trapped in Sonic X, with a healthy dose of Sonic Adventure 2 chaos. An Author's Nightmare 5: Hymns of the Antithesis dealt with Archie comics' Knuckles storylines. An Author's Nightmare 6 was planned but never materialized. The future of the series may depend on the interest of future authors.

      • Summary: I found myself lost in a world I knew everything and yet... really nothing about. Will I ever find the way home?
      • Comments: Doubles as A Day in the Limelight considering how much focus the SSSSS Squad gets here. It's clear the author was fond of the characters and explores who they could be and what they could accomplish without Robotnik's toxic influence. Has several heartfelt moments as Joanie meets her idols while trying to help their sworn enemies.
    • An Author's Nightmare 3: Enter Knothole by LittleTiger488
      • Summary: I'm in a world I've always dreamed of being apart of. But is it really what I truly wanted? Or am I just desperate for an escape from reality?
      • Comments: April gets schooled on just how real this world is when she learns the hard way about the "lost episodes": several dangerous and traumatic events that happened "between" episodes of the show.

Gitzyrulz' Sonic X alternate universe depicting Eggman and Chris as father and son.

  • She mostly draws. But what little fan fiction she has written of it is mostly heartfelt and shows potential. Her redesign and characterization of Chris is also pretty likable, from what she has shown. He's instead a child who has grown up in nearly complete isolation almost his whole life, and spies on Sonic for Eggman, giving his presence more of a purpose and making his clingy tendencies all the more sad. Eggman's characterization, from what there's shown, also seems more human without putting him in a certain second pair of leather pants.

Kitsune: A Tailsish Fanfic by Omnicenos (formerly Winged Hippocampus)

  • Synopsis: Tails is kidnapped to the Land of the Rising Sun, and his friends must go after him. SatAm universe with Archie touches, mostly on appearances.
  • It might seem like a simple rescue mission to the Japan stand-in of Enjou, but this tale goes into a lot of depth character-wise as it explores the the relationship amongst the Freedom Fighters and their youngest member, with plenty of action along the way. A highly detailed fic that manages to draw to a satisfying conclusion while leaving the door open for more world building and new stories.

The Brown and Tolbert Series by Robert Brown and Francis Tolbert

  • Synopsis: This is an extremely rich series that follows the events after the end of Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM). It's an old series as well, started in 1997. The first saga (first 13 chapters) includes new characters, and was one of the earliest to get serious into pairing Antoine and Bunnie. It also has a different take on the characters of King Acorn and Ixis Naugus. Over the years, life has gotten in the way, particularly after Robert Brown required a kidney transplant in 1999, then a hip replacement in 2009. There hasn't been an update since 2009, but it isn't officially over.

They'll know his name, his feats, and the iconic blue blur he leaves after scrapping Eggman's Badniks, but he's a guy you don’t expect to see walking down the street. He's too busy fighting giant robots or physical gods, it's a miracle anyone recognizes him at all.

  • Comments: Interestingly, the series is made more like a comic then a fully animated series, outside of original game segments, complete with little text boxes introducing the characters which I find to be part of its charm. The voice acting is honestly hit or miss with some characters sounding better then others but it doesn't detract from anything. Yes there is an OC in the main cast but he's actually one of the best things about SFTL having some of the best jokes and lines.

Pixelrush Web animator who makes insanely nice fan animations about various Sonic characters. Most of them are funny memes, but one of my favorites is "Where there's light..." which is all about our favorite "edgy" hedgy. A must-watch for true Shadow fans.
