Search for The Lost is a Sonic the Hedgehog Web Animation fan series by Creative Planet Entertainment.

The story follows Silver and Original Character Forge after the events of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) reuniting with a mysteriously resurrected Blaze and following Mephiles The Dark back to past.

After meeting up with Sonic and friends, the group sets on a mission to prevent Mephiles from completing an ancient prophecy and Eggman from trying to use another lost friend to build a new weapon. This quickly spirals as more and more previously thought lost characters return as a major threat lurks on the horizon.

While a web animation it plays more as a motion comic, with captions introducing a describing the characters. Earlier versions of episodes one and two were on YouTube but CPM took them down after giving the series a retool including original stage scenes for action.

Originally, when the series took place in the timeline was ambiguous, after the retool episode two confirmed it took place after the events of Sonic Forces.

Search for The Lost contains examples of

  • Brain Uploading: Forge’s backstory. He was originally Cobalt The Blackbird, a friend of Silver’s before he met Blaze. Feeling like a hindrance to his friend due to his failing health, Cobalt uploaded a copy of his mind into a restored Metal Sonic creating the character we know today.
  • Broad Strokes: The Metarex saga occurred at some point, but presumably more in tone with the main series games.
    • Also events similar to both the Archie and IDW comics have seemed to occured with Bunnie and Whisper being present.
  • Canon Foreigner: Forge, an original character using the Metal Sonic 3.0 Model from Sonic Rivals 2.
  • Canon Welding:
    • The continuity is largely based on the main Sonic games but the Metarex arc of Sonic X season 3 also took place.
    • Episode 6 brings in elements of the Archie comics with the introduction of Bunnie Rabbot-D’Coolette.
    • The short Smooth Strategy introduced elements from the IDW books with the introduction of Whisper.
  • Crossover: Characters from Sonic X, Sonic the Hedgehog, and other Sonic the Hedgehog based media outside of the games appear.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Forge is one of the most snarky, if not THE snarkiest, characters in the series.
Forge: "Green Hill Zone"... bet they spent... hours trying to come up with that name.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Forge in a GUN truck.
Knuckles: "We just made a terrible mistake!"
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Despite being a web-series, it does fall under this. Forge can easily fly outside of the gameplay segments, but in-game the best he can do is hover.
  • Fantastic Racism: While it wasn't the reason for Sonic's aggression towards Forge, he'd been more annoyed by his antics then anything before, but he does show some of this towards Forge's Metal Sonic body and also towards the reformed Radniks.
  • Heel–Face Turn:
    • Team Radnik, consisting of Heavy and Bomb, E-102 Gamma and Emerl, all former Eggman minions now “doers of good.”
    • Team Radnik, we’re in fact rebuilt by the Babylon Rogues, having left the thief business for salvaging old robots after the events of Forces.
  • Never Live It Down: Knuckles punching a GUN helicopter and putting the organisation on the heroes tail.
  • Not Allowed to Grow Up: Presumably events similar to the Metarex Saga from Sonic X occurred in this timeline. However, in the show Tails was eight. Here he is presumably still eight. Yet he says they "lost Cosmo years ago."
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • Forge ships Silvaze hard, frequently teasing them and commenting on how adorable they are.
    • Sonic and Knuckles meanwhile are on Tailsmo, telling Tails Cosmo is a keeper.
  • Ship Tease:
    • The main ship of the series is Silver and Blaze.
    • A secondary pairing is Tails and Cosmo, and at one point Tails is so impressed with her technological skills he blurts out he loves her.
    • Forge has a crush on Tikal.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Heavy briefly appears as a bus driver.
    • Forge comments that "Spinning is a good trick" and later tries to throw a Pokeball at Cosmo.
