"WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING SCENES"

A webseries created by mashed which depicts well known characters such as Mario as an evil dictator; Tails as an obsessive stalker and murderer; Outworld as a peaceful land invaded by Earthrealm, and so on.

    Episodes

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: The Mega Man episode gives this to both Dr. Light and especially Dr. Wily in spades. Wily was a loving family man who was more Married to the Job and thus wasn't able to spend much time with his son Rock, up until Rock died from falling into a Bottomless Pit and Wily vowed to find a way to save him. His depression would soon cause financial trouble for his and Light's company, forcing Light to strike a deal with Shadaloo to build weapons for them. Wily was initially outraged at the idea, but Light was able to convince him to agree by implying that these weapons could help save his son. However, after a demonstration of the Mega Suit Gone Horribly Wrong, Light began to regret his choices and recover a now amnesiac Rock to raise as his own son, enraging a now vengeful Wily.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In Mortal Kombat, Kano is depicted as an journalist and humanitarian who attempted to reveal the atrocities that the terrorist organization had committed to the public.
  • Adaptational Villainy: A lot of characters are given this treatment in this series. Mario, Tails, Cuphead and Mugman are the prime examples.
  • Ambiguous Situation: The Harry Potter episode puts the entirety of the Mario episode under this. One of the wizards controlling Harry Potter transformed someone in the Mario that is depicted in the Mario episode. This puts a lot of questions: are Mario's actions in his episode on purpose? Or is he actually brainwashed by the evil wizard trio? Is he even the real Mario?
  • Ancient Evil: According to Hagrid, there are a trio of wizards controlling Harry for their own evil deeds that have also been involved in tragedies like World War II, The War on Terror, and Han Solo shooting Greedo first.
  • Ass Shove: In Case 01, where Mario executes Sonic by firing a Bullet Bill behind him. And what Harry does to Malfoy with a Snitch...
  • Ax-Crazy: TAILS, full stop. From the ways he murders anyone who gets too close to Sonic to the deranged faces he makes everytime he's onscreen, this Tails is a far cry from the beloved sidekick of Sonic.
  • Breakout Character: When thinking of this series, most viewers agree that Tails is the most memorable part for being an Ax-Crazy Crazy Jealous Guy Yandere. He would eventually reappear in another video and star in his own Story Arc, something no other incarnation of any character from this series could accomplish.
  • Crossover Ship: Mega Man is depicted as once being the son of Wily and Symmetra.
  • Death World: The Cuphead world is an exaggerated version of this, as people can't even step through the gateway leading to it without bursting into flames or being turned into Chunky Salsa. The only survivors are Cuphead and Mugman themselves, and even they were permanently altered from the experience.
  • Downer Ending: None of the episodes have even a bit part of happy ending, and many of them end with Bolivian Army Ending. Worst case with Cuphead Secret Story, when the Devil enters the Earth dimension thanks to his underlings Cuphead and Mugman.
  • Everyone Went to School Together: Dr. Light and Wily were classmates with Dr. Eggman, Neo Cortex, Professor Oak, Dr. Hojo, Dr. Schabbs, and Symmetra, with Dr. Gero as their teacher.
  • Fantastic Racism: Parodied during Case 04 in which while being interviewed, Goro unintentionally offends a ninja who was with him in an dark room. Turns it it's Noob Saibot, who's completely pitch black.
  • Grief-Induced Split: Symmetra leaves Wily after their son's tragic accident.
  • Insane Troll Logic: When Sonic states that he and Tails were never best friends, Tails rationalizes that if he is Sonic's best friend and that he's not Sonic's best friend then that means Sonic isn't the real Sonic.
Tails: That's it. I get it now. If Tails is Sonic's best friend, and I'm not your best friend... then YOU AREN'T SONIC!
  • Lotus-Eater Machine: It's revealed that the matches of Overwatch are part of a simulated reality set up by the Omnics, and that every playable character was actually taken captive during the first Omnic Crisis so their enemies can study and adopt their strengths for a second invasion. Whenever the characters start to notice the odd gameplay memchanics and total irrelevance their missions have to stopping the crisis, the Omnics simply hit the Reset Button and erase their memories.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: After Sonya kicks Kano off a cliff he gets his eye poked out by a spike he fell on. He reacts with 'Ow'.
  • Make It Look Like an Accident: Tails kills Knuckles and Shadow this way, sabotaging their equipment to kill them while making it look like they were killed by malfunctions, and would have done the same to Amy with her hammer if he wasn't caught red handed by her and Sonic.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Both Cuphead and Mugman open the portal to allow the Devil to arrive on Earth and feast upon billions of souls, both fully acknowledging that their actions would bring quite literally Hell on Earth, more likely than not killing off the majority of the population Earth.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Mega Man in canon was a robot created by Doctor Light and was his surrogate son. The Secret History Of... version of the Blue Bomber is the fully organic son of Doctor Wily and Symmetra turned into a cyborg after suffering a mortal injury and later lost his memories.
  • Serial Killer Baiting: In "Secret History of Sonic and Tails," Amy becomes suspicious of the "accidents" that killed Knuckles and Shadow, supposedly caused by malfunctioning phones and jet shoes. Setting herself up as bait allows her and Sonic to catch Tails in the act of rigging her hammer to explode.
  • Stealth Sequel: "There's Something About Amy" ends up being this to "Secret History of Sonic and Tails" when it's revealed that Secret History Tails orchestrated everything.
  • Tragic Villain: Wily is depicted as this in Case 05. His son, the future Mega Man, was clinging on by a thread after a serious accident, which also caused the departure of his wife Symmetra and later Doctor Light allying with M. Bison. The trauma of nearly losing his son would cause Wily to become the vengeful Mad Scientist we all know him as, but with a much sadder twist.
Wily: (after watching Light's testimony) My son. MY SON?! Oh, you were always an idiot! That blue abomination is no son of mine! No Thomas, my son has been dead for years. You made sure of that. But I won't stop until he can rest, once and for all! (sobs loudly as his Robot Masters activate and a pair of Mets march away, only for the crying to turn into an Evil Laugh)
  • Villain Has a Point: Sonic outright admits that Tails, for all his blatant insanity, might have had a point about him not being the real Sonic. (i.e. how Sega depicted Sonic in the games)
  • Villain with Good Publicity: The heroes of Mortal Kombat are depicted as a terrorist organization bent on conquering Outworld, while framing themselves as the good guys in the conflict even though Outworld is a generally peaceful place.
  • Was Once a Man: Cuphead and Mugman. Originally, they were Area 51 soldiers who were guarding a portal that was designed for interdimensional travel. After traveling through said portal, they ended up in Inkwell Isle, where they transformed into Cuphead and Mugman. While every test subject who went through the portal died as soon as they entered Inkwell Isle, Cuphead and Mugman were spared due to the Devil seeing potential in them as his minions.
  • Wingding Eyes: Mr Sega's pupils are stylized S's similar to the S in Sega's (the company) name.
  • Yandere: Tails is portrayed as a platonic example in "The Secret History of Sonic & Tails". He murders Knuckles and Shadow because they were getting too close to Sonic, and he attempts to do the same to Amy. After Sonic tells Tails that the two of them aren't friends, Tails decides that he isn't Sonic.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: Cuphead and Mugman defeated numerous enemies and collected their souls for the Devils in the past, letting him feed off them. After they both returned to Earth, they opened the portal for the Devil, intending to let him feast on billions more souls.
