Tropes

  • Adaptational Villainy: All the characters become this in a way.
    • Mario, Peach and Yoshi were already mean spirited bullies to Luigi before being kidnapped by Bowser, before becoming complete ruthless murderers in the sequel who took part in killing Bowser’s wife and child.
    • Luigi also becomes an Ax-Crazy maniac after being tortured and imprisoned by Bowser, mass murdering many of Bowser’s minions and his wife and kids.
  • Amazonian Beauty: Peach in the second song becomes more muscular from doing field work.
  • Asshole Victim: Subverted for Mario, Peach, Yoshi and Toad, as while they bullied and harassed Luigi for years, Luigi felt horrible for them and it is clear they did not deserve the torture at the hands of Bowser.
    • Bowser is a more zigzagged example, as while what happened to him is downright cruel, it’s hard to feel bad for him due to torturing and enslaving Luigi’s friends and the Mushroom Kingdom for years.
  • Ax-Crazy: Luigi becomes this is in the second song, sadistically laughing in then end after torturing Bowser.
  • Bestiality Is Depraved: Played for Laughs in the first song, as it was Luigi’s response to hearing Daisy cheated on him with Yoshi. Downplayed in the second song, which confirms Yoshi is sapient and can talk.
"And last week, Daisy gave me the dump...because she’s secretly having a fling with Yoshi, which I’m-pretty sure is illegal”
  • Big Bad: Bowser is this for both of the videos.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Luigi and his group does this in the second video, breaking from Bowser’s prison in order to save Toad and get revenge on Bowser.
  • Brig Ball Bouncing: During the begging sequence in song 2, Mario is seen throwing a fire ball against the wall.
  • BSoD Song: This is Luigi’s song during the first song, where he felt horrible about what happened to his friends.
  • Cool Shades: Luigi gains a pair in the second song after ingesting a ton of mushrooms.
  • Downer Ending: Both endings arguably are this, however, the first song especially, where Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Mario and Toad are enslaved with the rest of the mushroom kingdom and Luigi was made to be humiliated in front of the crowd. The second one leans more into Pyrrhic Victory since eventually Mushroom Kingdom members broke out from Koopa's Kingdom but none of them seem too happy about it, and Lugi have gone completely mad.
  • Dysfunction Junction: Pretty much not a single character here can be qualified here as "sane", and eventually Luigi by being Only Sane Man completely losts it in the sequel.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones:
    • Bowser truly does show to care for his wife and children, being horrified of being reminded of their deaths, and crying and screaming also.
    • No matter how bad Luigi gotten, he still shows care for his friends, and is remorseful over having them kidnapped.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Despite how ruthless and murderous Yoshi and Mario became in episode 2, they show complete disgust and discomfort towards how Luigi became, and him torturing Bowser and making his life a living hell, with Mario looking on edge and Yoshi mentioning that vengeance poisoned Luigi’s soul.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Luigi and all his friends turn into this in the second episode, but Luigi BIG TIME, torturing Bowser and slaughtering many of the Koopa Kingdom civilians.
  • Freudian Excuse: While Luigi did fall off the deep end in the end of episode 2, it’s not hard to see why, due to being mocked and bullied by his own friends, brother and pet for years, and when paying Bowser to scare the, ending with them being kidnapped and tortured alongside him, and after being imprisoned for years, mixed with his own desire for vengeance and getting high from mushrooms turn him into a complete maniac.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: Luigi hired Bowser to simply scare his friends for revenge over mistreating him, however, Bowser quickly betrays him and starts imprisoning and torturing his friends and him, before enslaving the mushroom kingdom.
  • Go-Go Enslavement: Peach became a waitress after being captured, forcing to serve drinks to Bowser’s minions well dressed up in a slave outfit like in Return of the Jedi, in which Luigi references.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: Luigi becomes who he fought against in the end of the second song, after he captured Bowser and defeated him, he continued to imprisoned and torture him while slaughtering many minions in the Koopa Kingdom.
  • Hypocrite: In the ending of the first song, Bowser orders Luigi to stop singing about everything that happened, because it is depressing, ignoring the fact he is the main reason everyone is miserable.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: Luigi’s main motivation for wanting to scar his friends was out of revenge and wanting to be respected by his friends after years of ridicule.
  • Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: As said by Yoshi in the beginning and end of song 2, Luigi ingesting a butt ton of mushrooms, mixed with vengeance and being trapped in Bowser’s airship lead him to being corrupted into insanity.
  • Lack of Empathy: Luigi and his friends show no remorse killing off Bowser’s minions like there was nothing. While this is somewhat justified as they took part in imprisoning and torturing them, they went out of their way to slaughter them.
  • Laughing Mad: After going completely insane due to his obsession with revenge against Bowser and slaughtering many people across the Koopa Kingdom, Luigi is last seen laughing historically on the floor. According to Yoshi, his desire for revenge has poisoned his mind.
  • My God, What Have I Done??: Luigi has this after Bowser tricks him and starts torturing his friends, feeling genuinely depressed and feeling he’s more alone than ever.
  • Prison Changes People: Luigi and his friends after years of hard labor and imprisonment turned them into cold hearted ruthless people, but Luigi especially.
  • Prisoner's Work: After Luigi and his friends get captured by Bowser and tortured, they are also forced to do hard work.
    • Luigi is forced to sing and dance for Bowser and his team before staying locked up in the airship.
    • Mario is used to destroy bricks and forced to be electrocuted by Goombas.
    • Peach became a waitress and sex slave before becoming a field worker and laborer, which later made her buff as hell.
    • Yoshi was forced to run on a giant wheel to power the airship before later on becoming a cook.
    • Toad was originally a one man factory for one up mushrooms before becoming a sweatshop worker.
  • Sadist: Bowser holds back a laugh while threatening to kill Luigi’s friends if he didn’t play the humiliating song for him.
    • Luigi becomes this in the end of the second song, straight up laughing at Bowser when sadistically holding him over a pit of fire while showing off pictures his deceased wife and children.
“Now I’ve imprisoned Bowser! His life is a living hell! And every time he begs for death, I’ll just throw him a well! And in the well are picture, pictures of his wife, TO REMIND HIM THAT HIS FAMILY PERISHED IN A FIRE!”
  • Sanity Slippage Song: His second song becomes this later on, as it’s quickly becomes apparent Luigi lost his mind.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: After taking so much crap from Bowser, his friends, even his own brother Mario, Luigi becomes a psychotic monster who tortures even Bowser's wife and children!
  • Would Hurt a Child: Luigi and his friends have no qualms about murdering children, as they crash Bowser's airship with Bowser Jr. inside.
