Threat Assessment Unit, Los Angeles Police Department

Lieutenant Beth Davis aka Michelle Webber

Played By: Maggie Q

A LAPD officer in charge of the TAU. She usually partners with Jack when the two work on a case.

• Action Girl: Given that she's a police officer.
• A Friend in Need: Beth helps out Tracy when she's in trouble.
• All There in the Manual: Promotional material mentions that her past is very, very dark.
• But Not Too Foreign: Vietnamese-American.
• The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes: Beth is kind and compassionate to the victims she is interviewing, but is completely callous to the point of being a Jerkass to the team she oversees most of the time.
  • She's in charge of the TAU, but she refuses to inform anyone except for her superior. Possibly averted near the end of "Crazy For You".
• Cowboy Cop: Willing to do this if only to give stalkers with influential backing to stay away from their victims, lawsuits be damned.
• Da Chief: Head of the LAPD's Threat Assessment Unit.
• Dark and Troubled Past: She changed her name from Michelle Webber to Beth Davis because her controlling ex-boyfriend went crazy in his attempts to win her back, starting with romancing her sister to make her jealous and ultimately setting her family's house on fire with the intent to rescue them and appear a hero. The fire spread too quickly and her family died, ending in him being locked in an asylum for 12 years.
• Experienced Protagonist: An experienced police officer who specializes in investigating stalker cases.
• Fair Cop: She is played by Maggie Q.
• Heroic BSoD: Has one in "Crazy For You" after Perry gave her an Armor-Piercing Question about her past.
• Properly Paranoid: After getting things that only Ray knows about, she began to be careful about who she talks to and tries to talk to her superior if anyone in Seattle is trying to look for her.
• Reasonable Authority Figure: When Jack tells her of his troubled past in "Love is a Battlefield", she encourages him to try and fix the relationship between him and Amanda as best as possible.
• Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Confronts Perry near the end of "Pilot" and warns him that she'll give him trouble if he tries stalking someone again.
• Wham Episode: "The Haunting" confirms that Beth Davis is an alias.

Detective Jack Larsen

Played By: Dylan McDermott

A new recruit to the TAU from New York via NYPD, he moves to the city in order to locate his son and reunite with him. His ex-wife, however, is not pleased with it.

• Butt-Monkey: How Jack feels at the start of his first day on the job.
• Casting Gag: Dylan McDermott has played a LAPD officer in the past.
• Dark and Troubled Past: Based on "Pilot", he has a bad fallout with his wife, who left him prior to the events of the show.
• Dude, Where's My Respect?: Jack says this many times in the series.
• Experienced Protagonist: An experienced Homicide detective from New York before he got assigned to the LAPD.
• Genre Savvy: Claims that his knowledge of stalker movies and shows gives him an advantage in his detective work. Of course, Beth isn't pleased when she hears about it in his interview.
• Heroic Self-Deprecation: Jack seems to be fully convinced that he can't seem to help causing problems in his life.
• Hypocrite: For a detective involved in handling stalker cases, he stalks his ex-wife's LA residence. She even calls him out for it near the end of "Pilot".

Detective Janice Lawrence

Played By: Mariana Klaveno

A veteran detective in the TAU. She is seen usally working together with either Ben or Jack, depending on the case.

• Action Girl: Seen in "Phobia" when she saves a kidnap victim from being drowned to death.
• Cliché: Like to throw this word around in "Love is a Battlefield" when she explains it to Jack.
  We love cliches. We live them. We make movies about them. It's the LA way of life.
• Didn't See That Coming: She never realized that the mastermind in the events of "Love is a Battlefield" is the victim she interviewed for a while now until the unit ran through their evidence and found that she had a personality disorder.
• Experienced Protagonist: Been with the unit for several years.
• Fair Cop: She's played by Mariana Klaveno.
• Fangirl: Of the TV show "Savage Shore".
• Primal Fear: Janice reveals in "Phobia" hates the dark to the point that her residence has the lights on for the entire evening. She said that she hates clowns and spiders.
• Secret-Keeper: After she learns of Beth's Dark and Troubled Past.

Detective Ben Caldwell

Played By: Victor Rasuk

A veteran detective in the TAU, he's usually in charge of feeding his fellow detectives information on stalking cases they work on.

• Berserk Button: Hates Neo-Nazi gangs becaue they once beat his younger brother for "looking at them in the wrong way".
• Bilingual Bonus: Ben can speak Spanish, first demonstrated in "Skins".
• But Not Too Foreign: Hinted to be of Mexican-American origin in "Skins".
• Deadpan Snarker: Tends to be this at times, but more with Jack since he joined up.
  Ben: (After Jack tells him to call for his attention in "Phobia") "I'll call Beth."
• Experienced Protagonist: Been with the unit for several years.
• Infodump/Mr. Exposition: Does this when he explains relevant information to his fellow detectives in their stalking cases.
• Primal Fear: He reveals in "Phobia" that he hates the dark like Janice. According to him, he hates being buried while still alive.
• Secret-Keeper: After the others told him of Beth's past.
• The Smart Guy: His function in the TAU.
• Those Two Guys: With Jack when they interview a suspect in "Phobia". Beth teases them since they tended to finish each other's sentence, resulting in much hilarity.

Special Agent Vicki Gregg

Played By: Mira Sorvino

A former TAU officer turned FBI agent, she took command of the TAU after Beth was kidnapped by her ex-husband Ray.

• Action Girl: She did take down the serial killer in her own house.
• Casting Gag: Mira Sorvino previously planed a FBI agent in the late 1990s.
• Fair Cop: Helps to be played by Mira Sorvino.
• It's Personal: In "Love Kills", it turns out the recent deaths of single females turns out to be similar to her old cases back in the Bureau.
• Oh, Crap!: In "Love Kills", Vicky realizes that her ex-husband was the mastermind for murdering Sharon Gardner. And also, he took her sidearm and turned it against her.
• Reasonable Authority Figure: Tries to listen to the TAU detectives when they want to solve the case. But her hands are tied when the FBI announces that they'll take over the case from them.

Los Angeles City government

Deputy District Attorney Amanda Taylor

Played By: Elisabeth Röhm

Ex-wife of Jack Larsen and the deputy District Attorney to LA, she refuses to let him get involved with their son Ethan. Amanda assists the TAU in handling legal matters if the unit would get involved in a messy situation.

• Amoral Attorney: Jack is very sure that one of the trials she was involved in resulted in a disaster due to her actions.
• Blackmail: Amanda plans to use this on Jack by telling Beth about his past if he doesn't pack up his things and leave the city.
• Character Development: From being a jerk to Jack, she eventually warms up to him after she realizes that Jack sincerely wants to build a good relation with his son.
• Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male: Amanda hits Jack out of anger after she finds out Jack covertly made contact with her son.
• Glorified Sperm Donor: How she sees Jack, since he's been absent for all of his son's life.
• Secret-Keeper: After she out about Beth's past, she goes out of her way to help her find a legal way to convict Perry.
• Stealth Hi/Bye: Does this when she confronts Jack at the end of "Pilot" at his residence.
• What the Hell, Hero?: Amanda calls Jack out for stalking her after he arrived in LA.
• Wham Episode: Jack finds out in "Manhunt" that she's living with Trent Wilks, a fellow detective from the LAPD Robbery and Homicide Division.
• Working with the Ex: Amanda's problem with Jack throughout the season. Which leads to Teeth-Clenched Teamwork between the two. It's downplayed a bit after Jack admits to Beth about his Dark Secret.

Mayor Will Hayes

Played By: Brett Cullen

The current mayor of Los Angeles. He is Beth's friend in the city from her days prior to joining the LAPD. He calls for her help in solving a case where a suspect has sent a threatening package to his office.

• Dark Secret/Dark and Troubled Past: When he was a young, aspiring politician, he got into an affair with one of his secretaries after his marriage.
• Expy: Janice comments that his political career to mayor is similar to Bill and Hillary Clinton. Up until the point that his wife knew about the affair.
• Old Shame: His affair. His wife had to conceal traces of it in order to prevent any public backlash from his political supporters.
• Reasonable Authority Figure: When Beth insists that he needs his cooperation to help solve his case, Mayor Hayes agrees to help her in any way he can.
• Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Despite the fact that his secret night visits might attract attention, he nevertheless risks his own political career in order to ensure a good future for his daughter.
• The Atoner: Visits his daughter secretly every night in order to help her get away from being a call girl and get into a university after he found out that her mom died.
• Wham Episode: In "Secret and Lies", Beth and Jack (and the rest of TAU) finds out that Wills had an affair in the past and the stalking victim happens to be his daughter.

Kurt Wild

Played By: Michael Grant Terry

An ex-softcore actor, he made a living in Los Angeles by working as a physical fitness trainer to his Spin classes.

• Character Name Alias: His name. Jack found his name hard to believe at first.
• Evil Wears Black: Wears a black hoddie and jogging pants at the start of "Pilot".
• If I Can't Have You…: Part of his motive rant in dousing his latest victim with gasoline before attempting to use a match to light them both up.
• Kill It with Fire: How he killed his first victim. And the latest one if the LAPD didn't intervene.
• InUniverse Old Shame: His softcore actor past, though he decided to use the surname "Wild" to make a name for himself.
  Kurt: The truth, I did a little softcore when I first moved out here. It's all over the net. Killed any chance of an acting career.
• Punch-Clock Villain: Works full-time as an aerobics instructor.
• Punny Name: His surname. Jack lampshades it well.
  Jack: Out of curiosity, Kurt, is Wild your real last name?
• Starter Villain: In the show, he's the first stalker arrested by the LAPD.
• Taking You with Me: Kurt's plans to kill himself and his latest victim by being burned alive.
• Would Hit a Girl: Among the charges he was convicted for including assaulting on his ex-girlfriend in his police records.
• Yandere: His feelings towards his latest victim.

Rosemary Wilson

Played By: Sage Kirkpatrick

A normal housewife who underwent a breakdown after loosing her only child in a boating accident, she kidnapped the child of her neighbor in order to fulfill her wish of getting her family back together.

• Dark and Troubled Past: Lost her son in an accident while they were in a boat.
• Deconstruction: Rosemary became a stalker after she stopped taking medication to help her cope with her mental illness.
• It's All About Me: One way to interpret on her nervous breakdown after she took Thomas from his family.
• Sanity Slippage: After her son was killed in an accident. Her ex-husband told police that she wasn't the same despite taking medication.
• Suddenly Shouting: Part of her Sanity Slippage when Thomas wouldn't stop shouting for being kidnapped against his will. Rosemary starts to do this after she went back to her old house.
• The Dog Is The Master Mind: The TAU never suspected her of being a stalker initially.
• Would Hurt a Child: Rosemary was very close to killing an innocent child if Beth and Jack didn't arrive in time to save him.
• You Can't Go Home Again: Averted. She tries to go back to her old house when she was still sane. However, said house was occupied by someone else. So Rosemary beats the hell out of her and "took" over.

Silas Martin

Played By: Michael Irby

Once an ex-Green Beret commando and LAPD officer, he was kicked out of the force after he shot a teenager during a call that resulted in hearings and lawsuits. This gave a breakdown and was convinced that there was a conspiracy working in the department against him.

• Casting Gag: Michaely Irby has played a commando in the US Army and a LAPD officer in another TV show.
• Character Death: Jack shoots him twice with his sidearm when Silas tries to kill him.
• Crazy-Prepared: Has kept a small arsenal of weapons and combat gear in his apartment and had setup a near-invisible sniper's nest on an adjoining building.
• Cold Sniper: Silas is portrayed as one when he shot Frank's daughter on the day of her wedding.
• Dark and Troubled Past: He was diagnosed with anxiety problems at a young age. Frank suspects that there may have been other mental health issues that weren't disclosed.
• It's Personal: Silas went to stalk his ex-boss because he thought that he was responsible for disposing of the only weapon that can link the teenager to a lawful shooting. He then targets his closest friends and loved ones, severely wounding his daughter, murdering a young man who was getting his life together, and nearly murdering his partner and closest friend whose pictures were displayed in his office.
• Madness Mantra: Where is the gun?!
• Motive Rant: Gives one when the TAU uncovers camera footage of him giving a message to the LAPD.
• Room Full of Crazy: When the TAU raids his apartment, they found notes and surveillance photos of the officers he used to work with, their friends and loved ones.
• Sanity Slippage: Once he left the military and the LAPD, the latter because he had no choice due to undisclosed mental health issues that left him unstable.
• Would Hit a Girl: To be precise, Silas would shoot a girl.

Chris Powell

Played By: David Chisum

An influential man who was not convicted despite raping a young woman, he stalks women by using their phobias against them.

• Crazy-Prepared: Partially part of his MO in avoiding being arrested by the police.
• Evil Wears Black: Wears black clothes when he does his filming at night. Helps him blend into the dark so that witnesses won't be able to identify him.
• For the Evulz: Why he went out of his way just to film his victims being scared of whatever phobia they have.
• Hoist by His Own Petard: Jack was able to get the location of his latest victim by using his fear of heights.
• Night-Vision Goggles: During his first attack, he uses a pair of night vision googles attached on a head harness since he took his time to remove all lights from the victim's residence.
• Screw the Rules, I Have Money!/Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: How Chris was able to avoid being charged of rape.
• Sharp-Dressed Man: He wore a dress suit, Oxford shoes and a tie when he was first revealed.
• Smug Snake: Chris certainly seems to think so after being arrested by the LAPD. That is, until Jack uses his fear of heighs to make him surrender easily.
• Would Hit a Girl: He has no problems doing this as long as he can get a video of them being scared by their own phobia.

Greg Miner

Played By: Kevin Sizemore

A man who had long disappeared from the public eye after his wife has passed away. He kidnapped a university student due to her resemblance with his late wife.

• Angrish: Is seen talking like this when the TAU was able to apprehend him alive.
• Ax-Crazy: By the time TAU arrested him, they realize that he was long out of touch with modern society. He's last seen restrained and taken to an ambulance.
• Beard of Sorrow: He sports one after being "found" by the LAPD.
• Deconstruction: He's not a stalker by default. He "lived" in his house because he missed the days when he lived in it with his wife. Even the TAU realized that when they arrested him for kidnapping and assaulting a police officer, he was not mentally fit to be taken into police custody.
• Dynamic Entry: Greg busts out of the wall to literally surprise Jack.
• Fish out of Water: Greg lived in the house "literally" for a long time that he's not connected with the modern age.
• Sympathetic Murderer: He lost his wife in grief and was unable to move on that he "lived" in the house and cut off contact from the rest of the world, despite his hand in the death of a college professor who specializes in the occult.

Andrea Brown

Played By: Jessica Tuck

A wealthy woman known in Los Angeles for her philanthropy, especially in supporting the arts. He had divorced her husband prior to the events of the show. She was discovered to have a personality disorder, which was responsible for her mood swings.

• Even Evil Has Standards: When she finds out that Jack "cheated" on his significant other. Andrea was clearly upset about this.
  Andrea: "Have you cheated?"
  Jack: "Yes."
  Andrea: "Why?"
  • Andrea gloats on how she didn't like killing her own dog.
• False Flag Operation: Conducts stalking operations against herself so that the LAPD can have the "needed" evidence to lock up her ex-husband on stalking and assault charges.
• Murder the Hypotenuse: Her idea of fixing her relationship with her ex-husband includes the invovlement of putting a bullet into Melissa Barnes' head, his live-in partner.
• Villain with Good Publicity: Andrea's known to the public for being a philanthropist. She's also a known supporter of the arts.
• Suddenly Shouting: Once her personality disorder is revealed, she does this to Melissa while gloating that she'll be seen as a victim in the public eye.
• The Sociopath: Andrea crosses this path from her personality order, which includes the killing of her own dog. She also said that she was aware of it and didn't like it.
• Walking Spoiler: You should know why most of the details about her are under spoilers.
• Would Hit a Girl: She has no problem using a gun to fix "her" relationship problems.
• Yandere: Her idea of fixing her relationship with her ex-husband includes murder if she has to.

Robert "Robbie" Dalton

Played By: Brendan Sexton III

An obsessive fan of TV actress Nina Preston, who is a leading star of Savage Shore. Prior to his stalking activities, he had lost a job and was diagnosed with a mental disorder.

• Deconstruction: Robbie is diagnosed with a mental disorder and stopped taking anti-psychosis medication to help him cope with his disorder, which eventually led to his stalking activities on Nina Preston. Beth said that he'll get the attention he needs.
• Freudian Excuse: His mother unwittingly causes his life to go into a downward spiral by pretending to be Nina and feeding his delusions. This leads to him going off his meds, losing his job and stalking Nina.
• Everyone Has Standards: Robbie didn't like the way Emily treated Nina all the time after the latter found out that her sister leaked senstive information to a paparazzi reporters to give him good pictures for the papers. Things that could have gotten her killed.
  Robbie: I want you to be nicer to Nina. You've hurt her.
• Fanboy: Of Savage Shore.
  • Loony Fan: He becomes this eventually.
• Improbable Weapon User: Uses a tire iron to attack Emily Preston after she leaves Nina's house. Considering that he knows about Savage Shore, there's a meaning to why he did that.
• My Beloved Smother: Certainly thinks his mom is too overprotective of him. Which makes things worse when the TAU finds out that his mom pretended to be Nina sending in e-mails.
• No Medication for Me: Part of his problem was that he didn't resume his medication.
• Stalker Shrine: Has one in his garage dedicated to Nina when Jack and Beth arrive at his house to speak to his mother. Jack is not pleased by this.
• Stalker with a Crush: To the point that he imagines himself as Paul and Nina as Lily. Nina doesn't reciprocate his feelings, considering her dislike towards stalkers due to her previous experience with three of them.
• Would Hit a Girl: To anyone else being an obstacle to Nina, except for his mom.

Howard Granger

Played By: Leonardo Nam

One of the neighbors of Mark Richards. He was also an ex-victim of a public beating, which was investigated by police to be racially motivated.

• Berserk Button: Being attacked by racially violent gangs and individuals. And then there's that neighbor of his who has Nazi Swastikas tattooed all over his body.
• But Not Too Foreign: Howard's of Asian descent, but it's not revealed on what he's descended from.
• Dark and Troubled Past: Started to hate Neo-Nazi groups and individuals with zeal after he was beaten by them in the past.
• Deconstruction: His actions are motivated due to a beating he received in the past, which was racially motivated.
• Even Evil Has Standards: He didn't like why the LAPD is protecting an ex-Neo Nazi while he was arrested.
  Howard: Why are you protecting him?!
• The Dog Is The Mastermind: Howard was never considered to be a major suspect or a person of interest after his neighbor's Neo-Nazi reveal by the TAU.
• Would Hurt a Child: If Howard did know that one of his explosives almost killed a couple of children, he didn't show any signs of guilt or remorse after he was taken into custody.

Jason Walker

Played By: Wes Ramsey

A man with a Dark and Troubled Past, he wanted to get back to the old days when he was drinking together with his ex-wife after the latter voluntarily went into anti-alcohol rehabilitation.

• Control Freak: His ex-wife Shelly mentions this to the TAU when they interview her as a potential suspect.
  Shelly: When I told him I wanted to stop drinking, he did everything he could to sabotage me.
• Disproportionate Retribution: He gets back at Dr. Lewis for trying to partially help his ex-wife be sober again by making him overdose on sleeping pills that he'll die by being choked without knowing it.
• False Flag Operation: Jason was responsible for making the LAPD assume that one of Dr. Lewis' old patients is trying to stalk him.
• Jerk Ass Has A Point: Despite being a control freak and threatening to his victim, Jason has a point to make when he mentions that Dr. Lewis' marriage with his wife is slowly going down the drain.
• Kick the Dog: When he visited Shelly in a rehabilitation center, he almost tricked her into drinking vodka inside a soda can. This made her divorce him for real.
• Make It Look Like an Accident: His ultimate plan to get back at Dr. Lewis.
  Jason: Everyone will know that you killed yourself because you're a failure as a husband and as a psychiatrist.
• Red Herring: Uses this a lot to his advantage to throw the LAPD's suspicion from him.
• Walking Spoiler: It's hard to talk about him a lot since he's part of the plot in "Crazy For You".
• The Alcoholic: Heavily implied when he spoke to Jack and Ben.

Cori James

Played By: Aleslie Kies

A young woman who went missing after her best friend Meg died of a drug overdose.

• Broken Bird: Being raped changed her and not for the better. Her best friend Meg ended up in even worse shape and died years later from a drug overdose after several relapses.
• Dark Action Girl: After her ordeal, she took martial arts classes in order to defend herself. She proves herself to be stealthy, quick and brutal. She's even able to to easily disable her rapist after he realizes who she is despite his size advantage. She also ends up in an evenly-matched fight with Davis.
• Dark and Troubled Past: Being raped in high school didn't do a lot of good things to her personality. Her best friend, Meg, comes off even worse and dies from a drug overdose, which is what triggers the attacks.
• Deconstruction: Like Greg, Cori is a stalker due to her wish to get back at those who raped her and her best friend, and those who either didn't do a thing to stop it or actually helped the rapist restrain them.
• Everyone Has Standards: Even after Cori gets arrested, she doesn't like the fact that her rapist could technically walk free due to statute of limitations. It later turns out that Meg's and Cori's rapist didn't just rape them and his DNA matches that of a rape of a minor that does fall within the statute of limitations.
• Foreshadowing: She once mentions that she hated being blonde when she went to a barber to get her hair dyed.
• Genius Bruiser: She's able to get the drop on her victims every time and knows exactly where and how to hit to disable them and make it hurt.
• It's All My Fault: She blames herself as much as her rapist for not getting help and wanting to forget which she feels is what ultimately led Meg to die.
• My God, What Have I Done?: What finally gets her to stop. She ends up in an evenly-matched fight with Davis—a person who had nothing to do with the rapes—finally breaks down and surrenders.
• Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Her actions in attacking her victims made TAU check their stories before they found out that Cori and the victims went to high school together despite their insistence that they don't know Cori, even when they revealed her to be a suspect. Her crimes also enable the police to easily collect her rapist's DNA which nails him for another rape and likely others.
• Pyrrhic Victory: She ends up exposing Meg's and her rapist—who turns out to be a serial rapist of teen girls—and the roles her other victims played in it. But it comes at the cost of being charged with multiple felonies and facing jail time; which she is willing to accept. Likely downplayed as there's a chance she can plead it out due to mitigating circumstances—namely helping catch a serial rapist. She also has her mother, who was the one who reported her missing, who is no doubt going to support her no matter what and help her heal. On the other hand, her rapist was going after teenage girls and is likely going to do more time than her (and under harsh conditions as he raped children) and end up on the sex offender registry for life if he ever gets out.
• Revenge: Her entire goal after she went off the grid. Her best friend's death from a drug overdose is what triggered it. She ultimately gets it on Meg's behalf.
• Symbolic Mutilation: All of her attacks. The bus driver ends up having his hands nailed to his bed board—symbolizing how he held her down when she tried to fight back. The hairdresser—also the rapist's wife—was temporarily blinded as she watched the rape and did nothing to stop it. For obvious reasons, she was planning to castrate her rapist with a pair of scissors.
• Well-Intentioned Extremist: She attacked her victims because she wanted them to acknowledge that they there present during her and Meg's rape and either did nothing or aided the rapist instead of stopping it. She also wants her rapist to pay for what he did to Meg.
• Would Hit a Girl: Especially if said person didn't do anything to stop a rape.

Tom Wade

Played By: Jason Wiles

A well-known hockey player who got divorced from his wife due to their marriage going bad.

• Cool Teacher: Says to teach teenagers how to play hockey in his free time.
• Disproportionate Retribution: Has a tendency to pick fights back when he was married because of no reasons after getting drunk.
  • This escalates after he was "forced" to get a divorce from his ex-wife. It didn't help him at all.
• Handguns: Used a Glock 19.
• If I Can't Have You…: He was willing to harm Stella if she didn't allow him back into her life.
• Red Herring: Played with. He was an initial suspect. And it turns out, he was the real mastermind.
• Revenge: He's responsible for stalking Stella in order to get her back in the long run.

A civilian who was saved from drowning at a beach in Los Angeles by Nicole Clark when she was on duty as a lifeguard.

• Red Herring: Considered as a major suspect against his wife. Turns to be true. But in his case, he was not the main suspects for a few murder cases investigated by Vicki in "Love Hurts".

• Well-Intentioned Extremist: Is really sorry for hurting Pam. But his stalking tactics were not helping his case.

A person of interest the TAU interviews in a murder case. He turns out to be a wanted felon hiding out from law enforcement in Philadelphia.

• Grand Theft Me: Nicholas used stolen identification. But the show doesn't reveal if he had to kill the person to do it.
• Improbable Weapon User: Uses anything he can get his hands on.
• Really Gets Around: Deconstructed. Nathan gets into this a lot that he sought help from peers to overcome it.
• Red Herring: His death and investigation into his life only solved the murders of Francine Johnson and Christine Harper.
• Walking Spoiler: His presence in "Love Kills" will bring more answers as to who the murder suspect is responsible for killing Francine and Christine.
• Would Hit a Girl: His murders go at this. Even the murder of his wife. He even tried to kill a female FBI agent because she was close to figuring out his real identity.

Vicki's ex-husband. At the start, he was seen trying to settle their divorce. He's also the main suspect responsible for murdering Sharon Gardner and is still considered one when the case went cold.

• Big Damn Heroes: Saves Vicki from being killed in her own house. Of course, he probably did save her so that the LAPD and the FBI won't suspect of him as being the murderer to Sharon.
• Dark and Troubled Past: His marriage with Vicki fell apart when she found out about the affair and the subsequent murder of Sharon. The latter placed a strain on him and to Vicki.
• Foreshadowing: His name came up on the LAPD's case as a potential suspect in Sharon Gardner's murder years ago.
• Happily Married: Used to have a happy marriage with Vicki many years ago...
• Red Herring: Was suspected of murdering Sharon Gardner, despite denials by him and Vicki. It worked in his favor since his ex-wife was a law enforcement officer and as such, would try to defend him.
• Walking Spoiler: The moment he shows up again in "Love Kills", you pretty much would figure out that the episode would allude to him as the main suspect in Sharon's death.
• Would Hit a Girl: His involvement in killing Sharon. "Love Kills" suggest that he went ballistic when he realized that Sharon wanted to end it. And he's about to do the same to Vicki for finding out that he was the culprit.

A university student who was not charged for supposedly stalking his roommmate, he became obsessed with finding out more about Lt. Davis after being assaulted in a deserted parking lot.

• Armor-Piercing Question: Gives this one to Beth near the end of "Crazy For You".
  Perry: Why did you smack me around? Was it because I remind you of Ray? I can understand that.
• Bavarian Fire Drill: He manages to get Ray out of the psych ward by using fake credentials to pass himself off as a psychologist.
• Berserk Button: Don't talk to him about his dead mom. Unless you want him to strangle you.
• Big Bad: Serving to be one in the season.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Gets into one with Ray after the latter gets released.
• Dark and Troubled Past: According to "Tell All", his mother died under suicide after having affairs when Perry was living in Santa Barbara.
• Even Evil Has Standards: Perry didn't like how Beth assaulted him in a deserted parking lot without any good reason.

• Accidental Hero/Nominal Hero: Ray wants to be like this to Beth when he went through his plan to burn their family house.
• All There in the Manual: "Fun and Games" reveals his surname as "Matthews".
• Big Bad Duumvirate: Gets into one with Ray over wrecking Beth's life.
• Dark and Troubled Past: Responsible for burning his own house in Seattle, which resulted in being sentenced for psych evaluation.
• False Flag Operation: He was the mastermind for burning his own house and he almost got away with it.
• Faux Affably Evil: Ray's really a nice guy at first. Until he talks about his past.
• Good Hair, Evil Hair: He slighty has a goatee, but it shows that it's only growing again.
• Impersonating an Officer: Ray kidnaps Beth from her house by disguising himself as a LAPD plainclothes officer in order to wound Ben by shooting him.

• A Friend in Need: Tracy helps out Beth when she's in trouble. This trope is invoked when she cancels a date from Perry to help Beth out.
• Damsel in Distress: She was kidnapped by Ray to draw the LAPD to her as a decoy in "Fun and Games".
• Dark and Troubled Past: Her backstory was her being an ex-stalking victim when Beth used to work on her case. From there on, they became best of friends.
• May–December Romance: Was engaged in this with Perry. Turns out that Perry used it to gain access to private information about Beth.
• Muggle Best Friend: Best friend of Beth ever since she saved her from a stalker when the former joined the force.
• Oh, Crap!: When Tracy finds out that Perry was really Beth's current stalker.
