    The Rats

In General

They prey at night, they stalk at night. They're the rats from The Rat Movie. The Giant Rat makes all of the rules.

  • Anti-Hero: They're a group of thieving rats, but have a strong sense of duty towards each other and overall come off as the moral victors compared to the incompetent police force, the criminal mastermind Dick Dastardly Richard and the evil alien cat police.
  • Blatant Lies: In the Rat Mixtape, the rats state that Michael's been "such a good boy this year". Michael has been anything but a good boy.
  • Creepy Jazz Music: Their leitmotif, Hangin Out, is a sinister, jazzy tune.
  • Decapitated Army: Averted in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure. After Dr. Digestion kills the Giant Rat, one of the small rats quickly grows in size to become the next Giant Rat and pounces on Dr. Digestion.
  • Leitmotif: Their Rat theme, which is a lyrical version of Hangin Out.
  • Pokémon Speak: "Rats, rats, rats, rats, rats". Possibly part of their Leitmotif.
  • Villain Song: Have a popular one in the beginning of the first Rat Movie, quoted verbatim by the Announcer of the Jerma Rumble.
  • Vocal Evolution: Normally, the small rats speak in a squeaky voice. However, whenever a small rat grows giant to become the next Giant Rat, their voice changes accordingly.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Or, to be more precise; "What Happened to the Rats?". At the start of Rat Movie 2: The Movie, two small rats occupancy the Giant Rat during the sequel pitch. After encountering someone they believe is the pizza delivery guy, one of the small rats leaves to go to their car and asks the Giant Rat to save him a slice, while the other small rat leaves to go home to get a chicken nugget. Both of the small rats are never seen or mentioned again.

The Giant Rat

Voiced by: Jerma

The leader of the rats, who makes all of the rules. He leads the rats on their journey to steal the Mayan Treasure in the first Rat Movie, but is apprehended by the Cat Police. He returns in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, where he visits a movie executive for a sequel pitch for the first Rat Movie. During the pitch, he is abducted by alien dogs and learns about the Noah's Ark Toothbrush. For his appearances in the Jerma Rumbles, see here.

  • Affably Evil: He is laid back and friendly, despite being a cunning rat-thief. In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, he has a friendly conversation with Dr. Digestion on their favorite movies before the Giant Rat attempts to kill him. Also, the second Giant Rat speaks with a polite demeanor when attempting to trick Sergeant Pickles into thinking he's a bartender.
  • Affectionate Nickname: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, the head of the Dog Capital called the Giant Rat "Rat King" out of respect for the Giant Rat's authority.
  • Authority in Name Only: As the beginning of Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals, being giant and making the rules doesn't mean his followers will obey him. The first Giant Rat learns this the hard way when one of his comrade rats refuses to help him out of a toilet and flushes him down.
  • Badass Adorable: He may be a big, dopey rat, but he's also super strong and can kill people in a single pounce.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He may act like a harmless idiot, but he's still a large rat with Super-Strength, as Dick "Dastardly" Richards learns the hard way.
  • Big "NO!": In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, the first Giant Rat gives off one when he gets flushed down the toilet during Michael's birthday party.
  • Blatant Lies: He tries to convince Sergeant Pickles he is a bartender by saying "Hello sir, welcome to the Rat Café. There's no rats here. There's just, uh, hamburgers". Sergeant Pickles immediately calls his bluff, but admits he was just pulling his leg.
  • Decoy Protagonist:
    • In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, the first Giant Rat is anti-climatically killed off with surprisingly little screentime when Dr. Digestion kicks him in self-defense. One of the small rats quickly grows in size to become the next Giant Rat, and this Giant Rat remains the protagonist for the rest of the movie.
    • In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, the first Giant Rat doesn't even get a full minute of screentime before he's flushed down the toilet by one of the small rats in order to become the next Giant Rat.
  • Delayed Reaction: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, when the movie executive is launched across the room after the Dog's robotic man crashes into him, it took him several seconds before the Giant Rat registered the fact that the movie executive is no longer standing in front of him.
  • Dumb Muscle: He's a very slow thinker, but he has the strength to make up for it.
  • Face/Heel Double-Turn: By the events of Rat Movie 2: The Movie, the Giant Rat Took a Level in Kindness offscreen. Near the end of the movie, the Cat Police are revealed to be Evil All Along.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Both him and his rat allies fail to notice the cat attached to the movie executive's head during a sequel pitch.
  • Flunky Boss: He's often accompanied with two small rats by his side.
  • Heel–Face Return: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, for some unexplained reason, the Giant Rat (and presumably the rest of the rats) is now the hero and Gerrard is on their side.
  • Heroic Rematch: Downplayed in Rat Movie 2: The Movie. After being apprehended by the Cat Police in the previous installment, the Giant Rat foils their attempt to obtain the Noah's Ark Toothbrush. However, the Giant Rat doesn't get to defeat the Cat Police, as he flees when he realizes the Cat Police's true form is too much for him to handle.
  • Hidden Depths: His encounter with Dr. Digestion in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure reveals he watched Frozen (2013) and decided that it's his favorite movie since he likes Elsa and Anna. According to Jerma, the Giant Rat's other favorite movie is Aladdin.
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: He has a friendly conversation with Dr. Digestion on their favorite movies before the Giant Rat attempts to kill him.
  • King Mook: The Giant Rat looks exactly like his rat allies, but is around three times bigger than them. In fact, the small rats simply have to grow in size in order to become the next Giant Rat.
  • Klingon Promotion: One little rat becomes the new Giant Rat after flushing the previous one down the toilet.
  • Large and in Charge: The Giant Rat makes all of the rules. In both movies, when the Giant Rat gets killed or put out of commission, one of the small rats quickly grows giant to replace him.
  • Legacy Character: When one Giant Rat dies, another grows in size to take it's place. The Giant Rat in the Jerma Rumble most likely isn't even the one from The Rat movie, considering how the Rat Movie ends.
  • Mook Promotion: Whenever the Giant Rat dies, another small rat grows in size to become the new Giant Rat to make all of the rules.
  • Oh, Crap!: When the Cat Police shows up during the Mayan Treasure incident, he has a panic attack.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: When Sergeant Pickles walks into the bar that held the Mayan Treasure, the Giant Rat attempts to masquerade as a bartender. He tells Pickles he's in the Rat Café, there's no rats in the café, and there's only hamburgers. Sergeant Pickles seems to have fallen for the Giant Rats trick, but follows up by telling him he knows he's a rat disguised as a bartender. Then he admits he's just kidding and passes the Giant Rat off as innocent.
  • Rat King: He makes all of the rules for his rat followers. The head of the Dog Capital even calls the Giant Rat "Rat King" out of respect for the Giant Rat's authority.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: The first Giant Rat says his favorite movie is Frozen (2013) because "[he likes] Elsa and Anna."
  • Rodents of Unusual Size: Clue's in the name, the Giant Rat is much larger than its smaller brethren, his size even larger than a human.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: At the end of Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, upon finding out the Cat Police have arrived, the Giant Rat immediatly abandons the Mayan Treasure and tells the small rat to drive them away as fast as possible.
  • Simpleton Voice: He has a dopey voice and a personality to go with it.
  • Single-Stroke Battle:
    • He effortlessly take out Gerrard the Guardian of the Mayan temple, and while the first Giant Rat is slain when killing the thieves, it's still a quick fight.
    • The first Giant Rat is on the receiving end by Dr. Digestion, and dies after one kick.
  • Stealthy Colossus: Despite being the size of a car, he was able to sneak up on Gerrard and grab him without being spotted.
  • Super-Strength: The Giant Rat is shown to be capable of carrying Gerrard, who was wearing suit of armor, without being weighed down in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, and effortlessly throws a car to the side in Rat Movie 2: The Movie.
  • Took a Level in Badass: By the events of Rat Movie 2: The Movie, the Giant Rat has overcome him fear of the Cat Police. It isn't until the Cat Police merge into their true form that the Giant Rat flees.
  • Took a Level in Dumbass: The Giant Rat's successor in the second film is a little slower on the uptake.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: The Giant Rat is far less villainous and end up saving the day in Rat Movie 2: The Movie.
  • Uncertain Doom: The first Giant Rat in Rat Movie 2: The Movie is quickly disposed of when a small rat flushes him down the toilet. Since the first Giant Rat is never heard from again, it's unknown if he drowned or was harmlessly sent into the sewer.
  • The Unfought: Despite killing Dick "Dastardly" Richards and Dr. Digestion in the first movie, as well as being in the center of the conflict between the dogs and cats, the Giant Rat never fights anyone during the events of Rat Movie 2: The Movie. He does threaten the Cat Police, but he flees when they turn into a giant skeleton. Unlike most examples, the protagonist is the one who is never fought.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After keeping his composure even when being interrogated by Sergeant Pickles, the Giant Rat has a panic attack upon finding out the Cat Police have arrived.
Small Rat: Boss, we've got big problems; the Cat Police are here!
Giant Rat: Are you kidding me right now?! Cat Police?! Get us the fuck out of here! Drive the car! Get us out! Let's speed it up! We gotta get the fuck out of here!
  • Villain Protagonist:
    • Though the Cat Police are the heroic force of Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, the thieving Giant Rat is the lead character who gets the most focus when Dick "Dastardly" Richards is killed off.
    • Rat Movie 2: The Movie averts this, as the Giant Rat Took a Level in Kindness by the events of the movie.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Or, to be more precise; "What Happened to the Giant Rat?". The first Giant Rat in Rat Movie 2: The Movie is never heard from again after being flushed down the toilet during Michael's birthday party.
  • Why Did It Have To Be Cat Police?: When the Cat Police shows up, the Giant Rat has a panic attack.

    The Thieves

Dick "Dastardly" Richards

Voiced by: Jerma

A notorious thief who specializes in stealing gems and artifacts. He returns in Rat Movie 2 to try selling fake Noah's Ark Toothbrushes to the Cat Police. For his appearances in the Jerma Rumbles, see here.

  • Affably Evil: He is fairly well-mannered for a thief, and it's never shown to be ingenuine.
    • In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, after breaking into a bar, Dick "Dastardly" Richards introduces himself by saying "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, may I have the attention of the class? My name is Dick "Dastardly" Richards, and I'm here to take the treasure chest that's in the back room".
    • In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, he's very polite when talking to Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch, asking how they're doing and if they got his text. Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch, meanwhile, is anything but polite towards Richards.
  • Back from the Dead: Rat Movie 2 ignores his previous defeat, though it's possible he survived.
  • Brown Bag Mask: Part of his costume.
  • Cannot Tell Fiction from Reality: He believes that the movie he was watching that featured the Giant Rat wasn't a work of fiction. He also states Finding Nemo was a documentary, as he saw it being filmed in Philadelphia.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Though he is much more serious than Dr. Digestion, his Mixed Metaphor in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure and Rat Movie 2: The Movie revealing he Cannot Tell Fiction from Reality shows he's a lot stranger than he lets on.
  • Comically Small Demand: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Dick "Dastardly" Richards tried to sell the fake Noah's Ark Toothbrushes to the Cat Police for a measly twenty dollars per brush.
  • Dastardly Whiplash: While it's unknown if Richards has a mustache under his mask, he has the mannerism and traits associated with most Whiplash characters. He shares the same name with Dick Dastardly, except that "Dastardly" is a nickname instead of a last name.
  • Daydream Believer: Dick Richard thinks that Finding Nemo was a documentary and he (correctly, albeit) assumes that the blue toothbrush from the start of the movie, which was part of a movie they supposedly rented from Blockbuster, was an actual artifact.
  • Deuteragonist: Both installments focus on Dick "Dastardly" Richards for about half of the story.
    • Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure introduces Richards and his allies, and they break into a bar in search for the Mayan Treasure. It isn't until the 2:25 mark when the Giant Rat appears for the first time since the opening song, who remains the protagonist for the second half of the movie.
    • In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, after the Giant Rat flushes the Noah's Ark Toothbrush down a toilet, it's revealed everything that happened prior to the 5:30 mark was a non-fictional movie Richards and Button-Up Barry was watching. Right up until the 7:35 mark, the plot focuses on Richards and Barry collecting fake Noah's Ark Toothbrushes and attempting to sell them to the Cat police. When the Giant Rat shows up yet again, Richards escapes and the Giant Rat is yet again the sole focus of the story.
  • A Dick in Name: As a reference to Dick Dastardly, his first name is "Dick". Fittingly, the name "Dick" is short for Richard, meaning that his full name is alternatively Dick "Dastardly" Dick.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He shows disgust when Dr. Digestion accidentally runs over a pedestrian.
  • Fatal Flaw: His inability to give up the Mayan Treasure to the rats got him killed.
  • Greed: He values the Mayan Treasure to the extent where he tells the Giant Rat he'd rather die than give it up.
  • Hidden Depths: His encounter with the Giant Rat Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure reveals he likes rats. Though it isn't enough for Richards to give up the Mayan Treasure.
  • Implied Death Threat: After breaking into a bar, he threatens to "make sure you stay buried in that ground there" if the bartender tries to escape, or so much as move a muscle.
  • Karma Houdini: Richards receives no comeuppance for attempting to sell the fake Noah's Ark Toothbrushes to the Cat Police in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, unless his failure to sell them is one by itself.
  • Mixed Metaphor: Dick "Dastardly" Richards introduces himself with one after breaking into a bar, saying "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, may I have the attention of the class?".
  • Offstage Villainy: As dialogue from both movies reveal, Dick "Dastardly" Richards and Button-Up Barry have stolen artifacts, and they possibly stole paintings and robbed banks.
  • Repetitive Name: The name "Dick" is short for Richard. In other words, his full name is Richard "Dastardly" Richards.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: When the Giant Rat confronts the Cat Police in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Richards slowly backs away and suggests they "sort this out".
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad:
    • Despite being the Deuteragonist of Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, the first half of the movie focuses solely on Richards and his allies.
    • Him and Button-Up Barry become the focus of Rat Movie 2: The Movie in-between the scenes where Giant Rat flushes the Noah's Ark Toothbrush down a toilet and the Giant Rat confronting the Cat Police, despite only having a minor role to the plot.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Him and Button-Up Barry have a common tendency to bicker whenever the latter disagrees with the former. He also calls out Dr. Digestion when he accidentally runs over a pedestrian.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Dick "Dastardly" Richards reappears in Rat Movie 2: The Movie despite being killed by the Giant Rat in the first movie.
  • Villain Protagonist: In both movies, Dick "Dastardly" Richards plays the role of Deuteragonist. He attempts to steal the Mayan Treasure in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, and collects fake Noah's Ark Toothbrushes with the intent to sell them to the Cat Police in Rat Movie 2: The Movie.

Button-Up Barry

Voiced by: Boo

One of the three thieves that attempts to steal the Mayan Treasure in Rat Movie. Out of the trio, he's the most realistically grounded and skeptical character. In Rat Movie 2, he reluctantly agrees to accompany Dick "Dastardly" Richards to sell fake Noah's Ark Toothbrushes to the Cat Police.

  • Dirty Coward: Barry flees when the Giant Rat grabs Gerrard. He made the right call, but leaving his allies behind cements him of this trope.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: He asks how long it's going to be until Dick trusts him with his jobs. It would later turn out Dick has a good reason not to trust him.
  • Hypocrite: He chastise Richards for not trusting him enough with his jobs, yet he later abandons Richards and Dr. Digestion when the Giant Rat shows up.
  • Karma Houdini:
    • Subverted in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure. Though he flees when he sees the Giant Rat and outlives his allies, he is later killed when Earth explodes.
    • In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, meanwhile, Barry receives no comeuppance for attempting to sell the fake Noah's Ark Toothbrushes to the Cat Police.
  • No Name Given: Until his name was revealed in a community content night on March 2020, Button-Up Barry's name was anonymous.
  • Only Sane Man: Barry the only one who seems to have any sense. It (temporarily) saves his life when he decides to flee instead of facing the rats.
  • Pet the Dog: Barry usually shows annoyance and contempt towards Dick "Dastardly" Richards due to not agreeing with what he says. However, when Richards tells Barry about something he wants to tell his doctor, but is too scared to hear what he says, Barry states Richards' situation is "just... grim, pal" in a sincere tone.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!:
    • In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, Button-Up Barry decides he's had enough of it when the Rats get a hold of Gerrard, and exits stage left.
    • In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Barry runs away without saying a word when the Giant Rat interrupts the deal with the Cat Police.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: He shows annoyance towards Dick "Dastardly" Richard and Dr. Digestion, the former due to not trusting him to pull of the Mayan Treasure heist and since he Cannot Tell Fiction from Reality, and the latter due to him accidentally running over a pedestrian and crashing into two taxi cars.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Button-Up Barry reappears in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, despite previously being killed off via the Earth exploding.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Button-Up Barry is never heard from again in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure after running away from the Giant Rat. This is made irrelevant by the Earth exploding at the end of the movie.

Dr. Digestion

Voiced by: Star

One of the three thieves that attempts to steal the Mayan Treasure in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure. He appears to be missing a few screws in his head, but he's not as harmless as he looks. Unlike his teammates, he has yet to make a reappearance.

  • Affably Evil: Despite being a thief, he is laid back and friendly. When he sees the Giant Rat, he compares them to the rats he saw in his favorite movie "The Movie", and asks the Giant Rat if it's his favorite movie as well. After killing the Giant Rat in self-defense, he compliments Frozen (2013), the Giant Rat's choice for his favorite movie, and wonders if it should be his favorite movie instead.
  • Anti-Villain: Aside from him being a thief, he barely qualifies as a villain. The people he killed while driving a car were accidental, and he kills the first Giant Rat out of self-defense. He's also much more friendly than his allies.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Despite his goofy demeanor, he was able to kill the Giant Rat in a single kick.
  • A Birthday, Not a Break: Apparently, the Mayan Treasure heist in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure took place during Dr. Digestion's birthday. While this allows him to drive the car, he gets killed on the same day. The world explodes too, but he's not alive to worry about that.
  • Deadly Doctor: Though he probably isn't a real doctor, he's strong enough to kill the Giant Rat with a single kick.
  • Drives Like Crazy: He accidentally runs over a pedestrian and crashes into two cars on his way to the Mayan Treasure.
  • Dr. Jerk: Inverted. He is the most friendly character in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, and he doesn't seem qualified to be an actual doctor.
  • Dumb Muscle: He's both the least intelligent of the duo and the strongest, capable of killing the Giant Rat in a single kick.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The very first thing Dr. Digestion does is stare at the audience and make a random noise.
  • Friendly Enemy: Dr. Digestion is surprisingly friendly with the Giant Rat, even after the latter killed Dick "Dastardly" Richard, and they have a brief conversation before fighting. Doesn't stop Dr. Digestion from killing the Giant Rat in self-defense.
  • Genius Bruiser: Downplayed as he's very much a ditz, but he is still (possibly) a doctor and is capable of killing the Giant Rat in a single blow.
  • Killed Off for Real: Richards returns for the Jerma Rumble and the Rat Movie's sequel (along with Button-Up Barry) despite getting killed, but his purple accomplice does not.
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: He doesn't show any malice towards anyone, even having a friendly conversation with the Giant Rat after the latter killed Dick "Dastardly" Richards. In contrast to his allies, Dick "Dastardly" Richards and Button-Up Barry are much smarter than he is, yet they constantly bicker.
  • Mad Doctor: Downplayed, if not averted, as his strange behavior is played for laughs, and he isn't Ax-Crazy in the slightest.
  • Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: Downplayed. Though he has "Dr." in his name, he's barely evil or intelligent. He's definitely strange, though.
  • No Name Given: Until his name was revealed in a community content night on March 2020, Dr. Digestion's name was anonymous.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Due to using Willy's model, he always has a wacky smirk regardless of the situation.
  • Psychotic Smirk: He's always seen smirking regardless of the situation. While he isn't malicious, he seems to live in his own world.
  • Sequel Non-Entity: Dr. Digestion from the first movie is absent in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, which is notable mainly because Dick "Dastardly" Richards and Button-Up Barry are well and alive again. Dick "Dastardly" Richards' still wears the patch with Dr. Digestion's face on it, which is the closest thing to Dr. Digestion getting any acknowledgment.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: He killed the Giant Rat in a single kick. In turn, the second Giant Rat kills him in a single pounce.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Averted. As of Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Dr. Digestion remains the only member of the Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure's main cast to stay dead after the events of the Mayan Treasure incident.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: While Dick "Dastardly" Richards and Button-Up Barry reappear in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Dr. Digestion receives no acknowledgement whatsoever.

    The Cat Police

In General

The Cat Police is a police force in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure and Rat Movie 2: The Movie. They're established to work alongside the human police force. As the second installment reveals, they actually aren't police at all, but are aliens who transform into a giant skeleton.
  • Aliens Are Bastards: Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals the Cat Police is run by intergalactic conquerors, as previously hinted in the first movie.
  • Alien Invasion: The Cat Police are implied to be this in the first movie, and are confirmed to be aliens in the second.
  • Ambiguously Evil:
    • Though they're portrayed as a heroic force in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, the ending implies they were aliens masquerading as a police force. However, it's unclear if this is truly the case, or if it was a mere coincidence that the UFO had a cat head.
    • Rat Movie 2: The Movie removes the ambiguity, as they're confirmed to be the aliens responsible for Earth's destruction in the first film, and they attempt steal the Noah's Ark Toothbrush in order to destroy Earth yet again.
  • The Bad Guys Are Cops: As Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals, under their benevolent masquerade, the Cat Police are facist intergalactic conquerors.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, after they succeed in apprehending the Giant Rat, a Cat Police UFO decimates Earth. Though only viewers who've seen Rat Movie 2: The Movie would realize why it's a victory on their behalf, as it reveals that decimating Earth was their plan all along.
  • Cute Kitten:
    • The Cat Police in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure are friendly cops with a great sense of justice.
    • The Cat Police in Rat Movie 2: The Movie averts this trope, as they are revealed to be snide and malicious aliens who just happen to be kittens.
  • Dem Bones: Their "true form" is that of a giant skeleton.
  • Dirty Cop: Rat Movie 2: The Movie features a squad of Cat Police that were associated with Dick "Dastardly" Richards and planned to purchase (fake) Noah's Ark Toothbrushes from him. Then it's revealed they are aliens masquerading as a police force who plan to decimate Earth.
  • The Dividual: Type 2. Aside from the Giant Rat calling them "intergalactic space-beings", Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch's unit are always referred as "Cat Police" and never as "Cat Police officers". Which is fitting, since Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals they're capable of merging into one being. Also, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch's unit is never seen separated.
  • The Dreaded:
    • The Giant Rat is terrified by the Cat Police, and hearing that they've arrived on the crime scene causes the Giant Rat's Villainous Breakdown.
    • Dick "Dastardly" Richards, when attempting to make deal with the Cat Police, speaks anxiously but calmly to Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch. When the Giant Rat interferes, he uses the diversion to escape.
  • Earth-Shattering Kaboom: It's heavily implied that they caused one at the end of the first film, if the UFO with the cat head is anything to go by. Earth got better, though.
  • Establishing Character Moment:
    • The Cat Police are introduced in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure by driving to the crime scene at the bar with heroic fanfare.
    • The Cat Police are reintroduced in Rat Movie 2: The Movie with Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch asking Dick "Dastardly" Richards if he brought the Noah's Ark Toothbrushes in an enraged tone, and tells Richards they're about to decimate Earth.
  • Evil All Along:
    • The ending of Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure implies that the Cat Police were responsible for Earth's destruction, as the UFO that presumably destroyed it had the head of a cat. Despite the fact that it wasn't until the sequel that this ambiguity was cleared up, Jerma considers this reveal to be as emotionally impactful as the ending of Avengers: Infinity War.
    • In the second film, they are revealed to be the true antagonists of the saga, not the Rats. They're intergalactic conquerors masquerading as a police force, who plan to use the Noah's Ark Toothbrush in order to decimate Earth. To emphasize that they were always evil and didn't pull a Face–Heel Turn, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch states they've been searching for the Noah's Ark Toothbrush for centuries, and their true form states they absorbed and/or decimated over two-thousand galaxies.
  • Evil Laugh: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, the Cat Police's true form laughs wildly when chasing the Giant Rat. After defeating Gerrard, they silently laugh when preparing to finish Gerrard off.
  • Fusion Dance: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, The Cat Police transform into their true form by fusing. Even the police car joins in with the fusing. They also planned to have the Giant Rat fuse with them if he handed over the Noah's Ark Toothbrush, but the Giant Rat refused.
  • Hero Antagonist:
    • Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure have the Cat Police appear near the end of the movie, where they try to stop the Giant Rat.
    • Rat Movie 2: The Movie avert this trope, as they're revealed to be Evil All Along.
  • Heroic Canines, Villainous Felines: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, it turns out that the Evil All Along Cat Police have had rivals in the form of the Dog Capital, who are benevolent aliens.
  • Informed Ability: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, their "true form" is stated to have the power of over two-thousand galaxies. However, Gerrard manages to wrestle with the Cat Police long enough for the Giant Rat to escape, when Gerrard logically should have been killed instantly.
  • Karma Houdini: By the end of Rat Movie 2: The Movie, none of the members of the Cat Police have faced any consequences for absorbing and/or decimating over two-thousand galaxies or killing Gerrard, unless their failure to stop the Giant Rat from destroying the Noah's Ark Toothbrush qualifies as comeuppance.
  • Leitmotif: In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, Heroic Ending plays when the Cat Police arrive at the crime scene at the bar. This song does not play when the Cat Police reappear in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, likely to foreshadow that they've dropped their 'heroic police force' masquerade.
  • Nominal Importance: With the exception of Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch, who's also the only one with spoken lines, the names of the Cat Police officers are unknown.
  • Offstage Villainy: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, if the Cat Police's true form's boast is anything to go by, the Cat Police have absorbed and/or decimated over two-thousand galaxies.
  • One-Winged Angel: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, after being denied the Noah's Ark Toothbrush by the Giant Rat, they transform into their true form, which has the appearance of a giant skeleton.
  • Really 700 Years Old: As Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals, the Cat Police officers have lived for an untold amount of centuries. This is likely because aliens have a longer lifespan.
  • Sudden Sequel Heel Syndrome: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, they turn out to be intergalactic conquerors seeking the Noah's Ark Toothbrushes to obtain the DNA of every living animal on earth, with which they intend to decimate the Earth with.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, the Cat Police's true form had the power of over two-thousand galaxies. It's also very slow, as it fails to catch up with the Giant Rat when the latter runs away, and Gerrard is able to dodge multiple attacks before being defeated.
  • Walking Spoiler: For Rat Movie 2: The Movie. Turns out they were evil aliens masquerading as a police force.

Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch

Voiced by: Jerma

A member of the cat police that relieved Sergeant Pickles and his partner of his duties during the Mayan Treasure incident, and later apprehends the Giant Rat when he tries to escape. Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch returns Rat Movie 2: The Movie, where both him and the Cat Police are revealed to be racist intergalactic conquerors.

  • Absolute Xenophobe: He plans to kill everyone that isn't a member of the Cat Police, and he already decimated over two-thousand galaxies, if the Cat Police's true form is to be believed.
  • Anti-Villain: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, while Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch did strike a deal with Dick "Dastardly" Richards for the (fake) Noah's Ark Toothbrushes, he did it so that the Cat Police could protect the toothbrushes from falling into enemy hands. Furthermore, he's highly reluctant about working with Richards, openly voicing his contempt. Or at least this is what initially appears to be happening, as Scritchy-Scratch then reveals that he wants use the toothbrushes not to protect Earth, but to "decimate this disgusting planet."
  • Badass Adorable: His appearance and cutesy voice does nothing to hide how dangerous he is, as he easily defeats the Giant Rat at the end of Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure. Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals that he's even more dangerous than previously thought, as he absorbed and/or decimated over two thousand galaxies, and is capable of merging with his Cat Police officers to become a giant skeleton that's just as strong as the aforementioned galaxies.
  • Benevolent Boss:
    • Subverted with his relationship with Sergeant Pickles and his partner. When they meet in the first movie, he releases them of their duty, and reassures that their duty will not go unnoticed. However, as the second movie reveals when he drops his heroic façade, Scritchy-Scratch hates the residents of Earth, them included.
    • After the Giant Rat is apprehended at the end of the first movie, Scritchy-Scratch congratulates his comrades for 'sav(ing) the world' again. While it's never stated if he was being sincere, or if it was also part of his heroic façade, it's notable that Scritchy-Scratch is never seen abusing his comrades.
  • Big Bad: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Scritchy-Scratch is revealed to be behind the conspiracy to obtain Noah's Ark Toothbrush. He plans to use it to decimate Earth, as well as any other planet the Cat Police hasn't absorbed and/or decimated.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Under his heroic persona, he's an empathetic Benevolent Boss. His true personality, on the other hand, is that of a smug Absolute Xenophobe.
  • Cold Ham: Right up until him and his comrades transform into the Cat Police's true form, he doesn't raise his voice when speaking with Richards and the Giant Rat, but every line brims with smug arrogance.
  • Cute Kitten:
    • In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch is highly optimistic and cheerful at all times. His cutesy voice reflects this.
    • Averted in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, where he Took a Level in Jerkass offscreen, acting much more cynical and arrogant as a result. Even his voice changes into an Evil Brit impression. As it turns out, his personality in the first movie was all an act.
  • Death by Irony: In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch's final line states the Cat Police saved the world, and they make the world a better place. Before Scritchy-Scratch finishes speaking, Earth explodes.
  • Determinator: Scritchy-Scratch spent centuries searching for the Noah's Ark Toothbrush. Even when he's confronted by the Giant Rat, Scritchy-Scratch is still confident that he will finally get his hands on the toothbrush.
  • Dirty Cop: Rat Movie 2: The Movie hints a darker side to Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch, as he struck a deal with Dick "Dastardly" Richards to gain the (fake) Noah's Ark Toothbrushes. Then all subtly is thrown out of the window when Scritchy-Scratch reveals his plan to decimate Earth.
  • Evil All Along: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, though it initially looks as if Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch pulled off a Face–Heel Turn, it's revealed that he's been an intergalactic conqueror for centuries.
  • Evil Brit: After he Took a Level in Jerkass by the events of Rat Movie 2: The Movie, he developed a British accent to reflect his holier attitude. He's son revealed to be Evil All Along, as well as Aliens of London.
  • Evil Is Petty: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch brazenly refuses to pay for the (fake) Noah's Ark Toothbrushes that Dick "Dastardly" Richards offered him, despite the fact that Scritchy-Scratch would only have to pay a measly twenty dollars per brush.
  • Fantastic Racism: If Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch's "how we are about to decimate this disgusting planet" comment is anything to go by, both him and the Cat Police have a strong hatred of the residents of Earth.
  • Faux Affably Evil: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch, upon encountering the Giant Rat, briefly employs a kindly veneer when he remarks that the Giant Rat's DNA would've fused wonderfully with the Cat Police had the Giant Rat surrendered the Noah's Ark Toothbrush before dropping all pretenses and fusing into the Cat Police's true form.
  • Fluffy the Terrible: "Scritchy-Scratch" isn't what you'd expect a highly competent and feared police officer to be called. Or an intergalactic conqueror with over two thousand galaxies worth of blood on his hands.
  • For Great Justice: Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch is an optimistic cop that wants to make the world a better place. It's all a cover-up to hide Scritchy-Scratch's true nature.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: There is absolutely no explanation as to how Scritchy-Scratch became the Absolute Xenophobe that helped form the Cat Police. As far as the audience knows, Scritchy-Scratch was born evil.
  • Hate Sink: Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch becomes one in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, since he Took a Level in Jerkass offscreen. After his Evil All Along reveal, he becomes even more unlikable. Unlike the Giant Rat or Dick "Dastardly" Richards and his allies, Scritchy-Scratch in Rat Movie 2: The Movie is neither charismatic nor humorous, being a dead serious conqueror with a potential racist streak. The only respectable qualities that Scritchy-Scratch holds is his sheer determination in his quest to decimate Earth and his Villain Respect to the Giant Rat, but neither of those qualities overshadow his smug demeanor and pettiness.
  • Hates Small Talk: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch responds to Dick "Dastardly" Richards asking how they're doing by telling him they don't have time for small talk.
  • Hero Antagonist:
    • Though he's the main antagonist in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, he's an unambiguously heroic and optimistic cop who ultimately defeats the Giant Rat.
    • In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch averts this trope, as he's revealed to be Evil All Along. Though it did initially seem as if he wanted to protect the (fake) Noah's Ark Toothbrushes before he revealed his true motives.
  • Jerkass: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch speaks in a snide tone talking to Dick "Dastardly" Richards and the Giant Rat, and refers to Earth as "this disgusting planet."
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, it initially appears that Scritchy-Scratch is being rude with Dick "Dastardly" Richards because he doesn't want to work with a criminal, and because Richards may hurt people with the toothbrushes if he double-crosses him, but the same conversation reveals that he hates Richards because he isn't a member of Scritchy-Scratch's race, and he wants to decimate Earth with the toothbrushes as soon as possible.
  • Karma Houdini: By the end of Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Scritchy-Scratch has yet faced any consequences for absorbing and/or decimating over two-thousand galaxies or killing Gerrard, unless his failure to stop the Giant Rat from destroying the Noah's Ark Toothbrush qualifies as comeuppance.
  • Keet: Subverted. While his heroic persona in the first movie is very cheerful and easy-going, his true personality is anything but optimistic.
  • Knight of Cerebus: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, unlike the Giant Rat and Dick "Dastardly" Richards and his allies, who are all Laughably Evil, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch is played entirely seriously as an antagonist, or at least as serious as a British alien cat can get.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: At the end of Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch's last words are "We make the world a better-".
  • Killer Rabbit: Unlike the Giant Rat, which had Super-Strength due to his size, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch is just a regular sized cat. He's also a highly feared officer that manages to defeat the Giant Rat at the end of the first film. Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals he's also capable of merging with his Cat Police officers to become a giant skeleton, which has the power of over two-thousand galaxies.
  • Mask of Sanity: His heroic and optimistic bravado is revealed to be all a façade in Rat Movie 2: The Movie. When he drops his masquerade, he reveals himself to be a smug and hateful conqueror who wants to decimate Earth out of prejudice.
  • Minor Major Character: Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch is the Hero Antagonist of Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure who defeats the Giant Rat, and is revealed to have absorbed and/or decimated over two-thousand galaxies, and it's implied he would've killed the Giant Rat were it not for Gerrard's Heroic Sacrifice in Rat Movie 2. However, Scritchy-Scratch's backstory is unknown, and he's absent in both movies until near the end.
  • Nice Guy: Subverted. The first movie plays up his status as a Benevolent Boss, but the sequel reveals that he's anything but nice.
  • No Name Given: Unlike Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch's name is never stated in Rat Movie 2: The Movie. Because of this, the audience might not realize they're the same person.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch's end goal is to wipe out all of the galaxies in existence until only the planets the Cat Police control remain. By the events of the movie, Scritchy-Scratch had absorbed and/or decimated over two-thousand galaxies.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch was a heroic and optimistic cop. So in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, it's clear that something's wrong when Scritchy-Scratch starts speaking in an angry and monotonous voice. A few seconds later, it's revealed that he was a racist intergalactic conqueror all along, and his personality in the first movie was all an act he put up to hide how bloodthirsty he is.
  • Outranking Your Job: It's implied that he's the leader of the Cat Police, or at least a large portion of it, despite being a mere Sergeant. Also, he has authority over the human police force.
  • Polite Villains, Rude Heroes: Subverted. Initially, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch in Rat Movie 2: The Movie seems to be the rude hero to Dick "Dastardly" Richards' polite villain, but it turns out Scritchy-Scratch was Evil All Along.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, he denounces Earth (and by proxy, the residents of Earth) as "disgusting" while speaking with Dick "Dastardly" Richards.
  • Really 700 Years Old: During his confrontation with the Giant Rat in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch casually reveals that he and the Cat Police have lived for centuries. This is likely because aliens have a longer lifespan.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch doesn't appear until near the end of the movie, but in his screentime he was able to defeat the Giant Rat, and it's implied that his defeat somehow triggered the Cat Police UFO to decimate Earth.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: Right up until him and his comrades transform into the Cat Police's true form, he speaks in a calm voice to Richards and the Giant Rat as a Mask of Sanity.
  • Sudden Sequel Heel Syndrome: Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals that his heroic bravado was all a façade, and he was an Evil All Along intergalactic conqueror. This conveniently ignores the fact that, in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch made a speech to his squad that they make the world a better place, and he was unaware that the Cat Police would blow up the Earth after the Giant Rat's defeat.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, he makes it clear that he doesn't enjoy accociating himself with Dick "Dastardly" Richards, and would've arrested him on the spot if it wasn't for their deal. This is likely due to Richards being a professional thief, and also because Richards isn't a member of Scritchy-Scratch's race.
  • Token Good Teammate: Subverted. Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch's speech about making the world a better place at the end of Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure makes it look like he's the only member of the Cat Police that isn't aware of the Cat Police's true nature. However, Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals it was all an act and he's just as eager to decimate Earth as the rest of his fellow Cat Police officers.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch in Rat Movie 2: The Movie is much ruder and holier than he was in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, which is likely due to him dropping the 'heroic cop' masquerade.
  • Undercover When Alone: Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch's speech about making the world a better place at the end of Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure becomes this when Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals he was planning to decimate Earth the entire time. When he made the speech, the only individuals around to hear it were his fellow Cat Police officers, who were fully aware that Scritchy-Scratch's heroic bravado was nothing more than a façade.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch reappears in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, despite previously being killed off via the Earth exploding.
  • The Unmasqued World: By the events of Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch has dropped his 'heroic cop' masquerade and voluntary reveals himself to be an intergalactic conqueror to Dick "Dastardly" Richards, despite the fact that Richards did not suspect Scritchy-Scratch's true motives.
  • Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch is surprisingly threatening for a villain for the lighthearted Rat Movie duology, especially when compared to the Giant Rat and Dick "Dastardly" Richards.
  • Viler New Villain: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, the Giant Rat was no longer the main villain, and Dick "Dastardly" Richards was still a side villain, so Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch was revealed to be Evil All Along in order to become the movie's new antagonist. While the Giant Rat and Dick "Dastardly" Richards both are motivated by greed, their crimes don't go beyond robbery or self-defense. Scritchy-Scratch, meanwhile, had absorbed and/or decimated over two thousand galaxies in the past centuries, and he plans to do the same to Earth. While the Giant Rat and Dick "Dastardly" Richards are both Affably Evil and have their share of humanizing traits, Scritchy-Scratch is a racist Jerkass with no noticeable redeeming qualities.
  • Villain Respect: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch, in a possibly genuine tone, notes that the Giant Rat's DNA would've fused wonderfully with the Cat Police had the Giant Rat surrendered the Noah's Ark Toothbrush.
  • Villains Blend in Better: Rat Movie had Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch put up a convincing heroic and optimistic demeanor, but Rat Movie 2: The Movie reveals it's nothing more then an act to hide his true intentions. The Giant Rat, in contrast, tries to pose as a bartender by going around the counter and claiming "There's no rats here.", and only Sergeant Pickles' gullibility keeps the Giant Rat's cover from being blown.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch, the Cat Police officer that's respected by the human police force and feared by criminals, turns out to have secretly been an Omnicidal Maniac all along.
  • Vocal Evolution: As oppose to the cheery voice in the first movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch speaks in a deep and monotonous voice in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, reflecting Scritchy-Scratch's and the Cat Police's new characterization as evil aliens.
  • Walking Spoiler: A lot of the tropes involving him spoil his Evil All Along reveal in Rat Movie 2: The Movie.
  • Wham Line: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Sergeant Scritchy-Scratch states, after Dick "Dastardly" Richards asks them if they got his text, that the least of Richards worry's should not text messages, but instead how they're going to decimate Earth. Not only does this reveal the Cat Police were Evil All Along, it also reveals the Cat Police may have been responsible for the Earth-Shattering Kaboom at the end of the first installment.

    The Police

Sergeant Pickles

Voiced by: Jerma

A cop that investigates a bar where the Mayan Treasure is located.

  • Failed a Spot Check: He fails to notice three obvious clues that rats have broken into the bar.
    • He saw the Giant Rat in bar, who claimed to be a bartender, and responded by telling him to be careful because they is apparently a giant rat around.
    • He fails to spot the huge treasure chest lying on the floor in the bar.
    • He also doesn't notice the small rat hiding on his back until it jumps off of him.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Double Subverted when he encounters the Giant Rat posing as a bartender. He acts as if he fell for the trick, informs him he's aware he's a rat, and admits he's just kidding and passes the Giant Rat off as innocent.
  • Oh, Crap!: He shouts "What the fuck?!" when a small rat jumps off his back and into a police car.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: His partner called him 'Sergeant Pickles' because he was sidetracked with wanting to eat pickles. His real name is never hinted.
  • Only Sane Man: Subverted. Though he's much more competent than his partner, which isn't saying much, he falls for the Giant Rat's Paper-Thin Disguise, only pretending to see through it as a joke.
  • Overranked Soldier: It's surprising that he reached the rank of Sergeant, considering he fails to notice that the bartender is a large rat.
  • Police Are Useless: Double Subverted. He's portrayed as a competent and serious officer right until he admits that he was just joking about the bartender being a rat.
  • Sequel Non-Entity: He's completely absent in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, not even receiving a passing mention.
  • Super Gullible: He takes the Giant Rat's statement that "There's no rats here (in the bar)." at face value.

The Fat Cop

Voiced by: Jerma

An overweight cop that's missing a few screws on his head and only has the slightest grasp on his job.

  • Delicious Distraction: He gets sidetracked by pickles when a bar patron tells him he saw a giant rat, calls his partner 'Sergeant Pickles', and asks him to get candy corn.
  • Failed a Spot Check: He didn't notice the small rat hiding on Sergeant Pickles' back.
  • Fat Idiot: He's both overweight and highly incompetent to his job. During the Mayan Treasure incident, he gets sidetracked by pickles and candy corn.
  • No Name Given: While his partner is given the nickname 'Sergeant Pickles', his own name is an afterthought.
  • Overranked Soldier: The fact that his partner is a Sergeant implies that he's also a Sergeant. His dialogue makes it clear he has only has the slightest grasp on his job. He doesn't even know how to draw.
  • Police Are Useless: He has only has the slightest grasp on being a cop, gets distracted by his hunger, and admits he doesn't know how to draw.
  • Sequel Non-Entity: He's completely absent in Rat Movie 2, not even receiving a passing mention.
  • Sweet Tooth: If him asking a bar patron for some candy corn, he has a preference for sweets.

    Other

Gerrard

Voiced by: Jerma

"Not so fast! You stand before Gerrard, guardian of the treasure chest of the Mayan Temple, and I will make sure to gr- Hey! Hey, what- What are you doing?". Garrard is the mysterious self-proclaimed guardian of the treasure chest of the Mayan temple. Despite his imitating appearance, he is easily defeated by the Giant Rat in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure. He returns in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, where he teams out with the Giant Rat to stop the Cat Police from decimating Earth.

  • Badass Normal: He was able to hold his own against the Cat Police's true form, which had the power of over two-thousand galaxies, without any assistance.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure he ambushes Dick "Dastardly" Richards and his allies when they try to steal the Mayan Treasure. Though the diversion allows the bartender to escape, The Giant Rat defeats him before Gerrard was able to attack the thieves.
    • In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, when the Giant Rat is being chased by the Cat Police, Gerrard ambushes the Cat Police so the Giant Rat will have enough time to escape.
  • Boisterous Weakling: Speaks like a showmanship-filled knight, yet gets defeated effortlessly in both installments. It isn't until the end of Rat Movie 2: The Movie that he's able to back up his boasts, even if it's temporary.
  • Determinator: He took on the Cat Police's true form, which had the power of over two-thousand galaxies, knowing full well that he cannot win, and held his own against them.
  • Disney Villain Death: Gerrard meets his end when the Giant Rat drops him down a chasm in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure.
  • Easily Forgiven: Gerrard shows no contempt for the Giant Rat killing him, and even agrees to team up with him in Rat Movie 2: The Movie.
  • Enemy Mine: Downplayed. He teams up with the Giant Rat, who had killed Gerrard in the previous installment, to take down the Cat Police in Rat Movie 2: The Movie. However, the Giant Rat Took a Level in Kindness at that point.
  • Evil Will Fail: Invoked by Gerrard in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, where he shouts "Evil will never win!" before ambushing the Cat Police's true form.
  • For Great Justice: His primary motivation is to smite evildoers. Rat Movie 2: The Movie has him shout "Evil will never win!" before ambushing the Cat Police's true form.
  • Hero Antagonist: The reason the Giant Rat had to defeat him in Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure was because he was protecting the treasure the rats wanted. Hence why he's no longer an antagonist after the Giant Rat Took a Level in Kindness by the events of Rat Movie 2: The Movie.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In Rat Movie 2, Gerrard lets the giant skeleton take him so that the Giant Rat can get the toothbrush and bring it to Mount Doom.
  • Incoming Ham:
    • He introduces himself in both installments by shouting "Not so fast!".
    • Right before his Big Damn Heroes moment in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, Gerrard shouts "Evil will never win!" before ambushing the Cat Police's true form.
  • Inexplicably Awesome: No one knows who Gerrard is, or how he became the guardian of the treasure chest of the Mayan Temple. Also, although he has no superpowers to speak of, he was able to hold his own against the Cat Police's true form, which had the power of over two-thousand galaxies, when he logically should have been killed instantly.
  • Iron Butt-Monkey: Both of his appearances has him get defeated with little fanfare. Despite this, he never gives up.
  • Killed Offscreen: His final moments in Rat Movie 2: The Movie have him defeated by the Cat Police's true form, and the scene cuts to the Giant Rat before Gerrard is executed.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: He both dresses like a knight and speaks like one. He also has a strong sense of justice.
  • Leitmotif: Hero's Coming plays in the scenes where Gerrard appears.
  • Minor Major Character: In Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure, he is the guardian of the titular Mayan Treasure, and in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, his sacrifice buys the Giant Rat enough time to bring Noah's Ark Toothbrush to Mount Doom. Despite this, his screentime in both movies is less than a minute, and his backstory is never hinted upon.
  • Paper Tiger: In both appearances, he proudly declares his arrival, triumphant music plays... and the Giant Rat picks him up and drops him off a chasm in the first movie, and a plane rams into him in the second, both defeating him instantly. Later subverted in the second movie, where he pulls a Heroic Second Wind and manages to hold his own against the Cat Police's true form.
  • Senseless Sacrifice: Zig-Zagged in Rat Movie 2: The Movie. Due to how slow the Cat Police's true form was, it's possible that the Giant Rat could've outrun it, making the time Gerrard bought by holding off the Cat Police pointless. However, it's also possible that the Cat Police could've caught up with the Giant Rat by chasing the latter until he gets exhausted.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After spending the series as an Iron Butt-Monkey, he holds his own against the Cat Police's true form, which had the power of over two-thousand galaxies in Rat Movie 2: The Movie.
  • Unexplained Recovery: He reappears in Rat Movie 2: The Movie, despite falling to his death in the previous installment.

Michael

Voiced by: Jerma

Michael is a bratty child played by an unknown actor in the sequel pitch at the beginning of Rat Movie 2: The Movie.

  • Bratty Half-Pint: He has a childish voice and a loud and rude personality to go with it.
  • It's All About Me: He boasts on his birthday that it isn't anyone else's birthday, and that he'll get all of the presents and Kathy won't get any presents because she's an idiot.
  • Jerkass: Without any provokation, he states that, on his birthday, Kathy won't get any presents because she's an idiot, and tells his mom to shut up when she objects.

Movie Executive

Voiced by: Jerma

At the beginning of Rat Movie 2: The Movie, an anonymous movie executive presents a sequel pitch for the first Rat Movie. It turns out that he's being mind-controlled by a cat so that they can infiltrate the Dog Capital.

  • And I Must Scream: While the movie executive was mind-controlled, he was in a nightmare for two weeks straight. Not only that, he was also able to keep track of how long he was trapped in the nightmare.
  • Cool Mask: Subverted. The cat attached to the movie executive initially appears to be a mask, but it turns out to be a Puppeteer Parasite.
  • Creator's Apathy: In-Universe, the movie executive admits he doesn't mind if the sequel of the Rat Movie is terrible, since "as long as we sell the merchandise and keep the suits happy, who cares about the subject matter?". However, this is the cat attached to him that's forcing him to say this.
  • Impersonation-Exclusive Character: During the Dog Capital scene, it's revealed he was being mind-controlled by a cat. After recovering, he's only able to say a single line before getting knocked out.
  • No Name Given: The movie executive's name is anonymous. The name of the cat attached to him is also anonymous.
  • Only in It for the Money: He's attempting to create a sequel to the first Rat Movie solely so he can sell the Rat Movie merchandise and keep the suits happy, and he doesn't care if the sequel ends up being a flop. Though, since he was mind-controlled at that point, it's unclear if he'd actually help create the sequel solely for the money.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Both the Giant Rat and his rat companions fail notice the cat attached to the movie executive's head.
  • Sequelitis: Conversed In-Universe. During the sequel pitch for the Rat Movie, he gives a lecture to the rats on how the quality of sequels don't matter, since they'll be able to sell the Rat Movie merchandise and keep the suits happy regardless. Or at least that's what the cat attached to him is forcing him to say, his actual stance on sequels is unknown.
  • Uncertain Doom: It's unclear if he was killed in the crossfire during the Dog Capital infiltration.
  • Undignified Death: Subverted. Initially, it appears he died when the Dog's robotic man crashed into him, but it turns out he was knocked unconscious.
  • Vocal Evolution: He speaks very quickly with a Texan accent when speaking with The Rats during the sequel pitch. Later, after being freed from the Puppeteer Parasite cat, he speaks in a slower, unaccented voice.
  • Wham Line: During the Dog Capital scene, the cat attached to the movie executive, which was thought to have been either the executive's head or mask, gets up and shouts "The infiltration was a success!".

The Dogs

Voiced by: Jerma

The Dogs are a race of intergalactic canines. In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, they transport the Giant Rat to the Dog Capital, where they unveil the Noah's Ark Toothbrush to him.
