Symbiotes and their Hosts

The Lethal Protector

     Eddie Brock

Edward Brock

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_212114869.png
"If this is the H building, where are the 25 other buildings?"
  • Adaptational Badass: Downplayed. While he is still a normal human without Venom's powers, Eddie is far more assertive and confident when expressing his opinions and convictions, in comparison to canon where he comes off as more lethargic and awkward in his speech, leading to people underestimating him. For example while canon Eddie mainly chooses to comply with the police, Eddie here are shown to be more willing to oppose them if it means helping his allies.
  • Berserk Button: He does not like being undermined or belittle by people in power, especially the Commission, with his patience being constantly tested by their attempts to demonise him. He also doesn't like endangering people's lives for no reason, including children as he was furious when the Wild Wild Pussycats pushed Class 1-A off a cliff-side as part of their training.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Half of his dialogue is made up of snarky and witty remarks, either as a way of pointing out how ridiculous the MHA universe is or to deflect stress or fear in a tight situation.
  • Intrepid Reporter: He is a journalist who spent years trying to expose the corruption and abuse San Francisco's poor and homeless were suffering under. Because of this, he has a level of conviction that people around him can't help but admire, with Midoriya still choosing to see him as a good person in spite of his and Venom's methods.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Eddie is usually not one to choose violence first and only kills or is complicit in killing when forced to do so. However Eddie sees Muscular as such a vile and disgusting person that he has no qualms letting Venom eat him, and has zero remorse or regret when questioned by the police about it.
  • The Load: Was initially this both in canon and the start of the story, however Eddie has not only tried to stop being a liability in combat, he has also used his intuition and deductive skills to help out.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Eddie has given two of them within the story. The first one has him calling Venom out for letting his emotions get to him and attacking a racist Pro Hero in a similar vein to when Venom attacked Cletus for insulting Eddie. The other example has him giving one to Kota, and explaining how he not only has been ungrateful to Mandalay for taking care of him after his parents' death but also how his hatred and anger towards Hero society will only turn him into a monster.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Has been on the receiving end of this trope a few times, however he has also given a few himself, the most notable being when he chews out Aizawa and the Wild Wild Pussycats for throwing Class 1-A off a cliff and into a forest of dangerous earth and clay constructs as part of their training. The situation gets defused when Mandalay assures Eddie that they would not have done this if they thought the students weren't strong enough.
     Venom

Venom

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_212358219.png
"See? Eating people sometimes is the answer to our problems!"
  • Adaptational Badass: As explained in the main page, Venom in canon was Weak, but Skilled, being powerful enough to treat SWAT officers and human thugs like ragdolls but struggling against superior symbiotes like Riot and Carnage, who have better control over their biomass. This usually leads to Venom and Eddie having to either outsmarting their opponents or relying on their perfect symbiosis outlasting their enemy's imperfect symbiosis in order to defeat them. In this story however Venom has been stated to have undergone a rapid evolution due to being thrown into another universe, and it has only lead to him growing stronger, with his consumption of Carnage also making him more powerful. He can take on Nomus without much difficulty, curbstomped members of the Vanguard Action Squad and even overpowered and killed Muscular, who in canon was powerful enough to force Midoriya to defeat him using more than 100 percent of his strength. While overpowered by Carnage in the films, Venom can consistently fight against Carnage II despite being technically stronger. Come the Hideout Raid Arc, Venom not only survived against All For One twice, he also fought Hawks, the Number 3 turned Number 2 Hero, to a stalemate and would have most likely won had Sleeper not intervened. Later on, Venom not only shows greater resistance to heat when fighting the Volcano Thieves, he also learns to form more complex weapons and rival Sleeper physically in combat when the Knight of the Cosmos isn't tapping into his Necrosword's power.
  • Ax-Crazy: Downplayed, as he has learned to control and temper his violent instincts through Eddie's influence. However he can relapse slightly when in prolonged combat, not to mention still fight in a vicious manner.
  • Berserk Button: Calling him a parasite is the easier way to anger him, much like in canon. He also cannot tolerate any forms of racism, and attacked a Pro Hero for using slurs against Eddie.
  • BFS: His arm blade that he creates is quite large and can spin like a drill in the same way he hardened his tendrils and spun them to create makeshift drills.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Though not to the extent as Eddie, he'll sometimes act snarky when he feels like it.
  • The Dreaded: Venom and to an extent Eddie obtain this status after their activity in Hosu, becoming known as a ravenous vigilante who eats his victims and a berserker only stopped by fire and sound. The Hero Public Safety Commission dread the idea of the symbiote being free, and Shigaraki and the League of Villains acknowledged how much of a threat he would be if he decided to go after them. His reputation only gets larger upon killing and eating Muscular.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Venom, though no longer a Villain Protagonist, still resorts to lethal force and he perfectly fine eating people's brains in spite of the MHA universe's disapproval, however he refuses to kill or eat children, has no tolerance towards racism and despises foes like Muscular and All For One due to their brutality and arrogance. He also barely tolerates Bakugo's Jerkass behaviour and wonders why Midoriya even considers him a friend.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Or rather "Jerk Cannot Comprehend Good", as Venom is genuinely confused as to why Midoriya would consider Bakugo his friend despite all of the physical and verbal abuse he put him through. Eddie explains that their relationship isn't exactly healthy either.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: As with all of the Klyntar, Venom devours the brains of humans to feed off the naturally occurring phenethylamine within them, which also leads to him absorbing the victim's memories and knowledge, including the Japanese language. When under U.A.'s custody, they tried to prevent this by giving Venom foods rich in phenethylamine, however went back to his usual brain-eating ways upon killing Muscular.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Much like in canon, he is rude, loud and demanding, not to mention argues near-constantly with Eddie. However, he is shown to be fiercely protective of his host, genuinely wants to protect others and will not tolerate racism or bullying.
  • Large Ham: Much like in canon, Venom almost shouts nearly everything he says, all with a bombastic and energetic demeanour.
  • Lovecraftian Superpower: Pretty much a requirement given he's a symbiote. He can control his biomass to either form tendrils and later complex weapons or alter his size and body shape at will. He can also completely devour a person's head without leaving any trace behind and even obtain knowledge and memories from ingesting people's brains, allowing him and Eddie to learn Japanese despite never learning the language previously.
  • Shipper on Deck: Venom seems to like the idea of Eddie pursuing Thundermane as a lover, given how he teased him for eyeing her up at the mall.

The Blood Hunter

     Himiko Toga

Himiko Toga

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_222112159.png
"Noted...we're getting off track, time to suit up and take out our target...and if you're lucky, you can eat them."
  • Adaptational Badass: Zigzagged. While her individual skills and Quirk are still solely hers to use, Toga was able to convince Carnage to let her take control of her power, unlike Eddie who lets Venom do the fighting for him, making this a more straight example. This also means she has a way of assasinating people even when transformed, shown perfectly when she used Camie's appearance to make Yaorashi drop his guard so she could stab him with Carnage's power.
  • Ax-Crazy: Even more so due to Carnage's influence, as when the crimson symbiote was developing inside her body she was constantly hungry and slaughtered a group of junkies to try and satisfy her bloodlust. Upon Carnage fully maturing, Toga is able to compose herself again, though still retains her Yandere like tendencies and thirst for blood.
  • Berserk Button: Attacking people she considers her friends as well as dealing with non-cute people will anger her, but especially when it comes to control over her body, and hates the idea of someone controlling her actions. This of course is pushed when Carnage incapacitated her and used her body to betray the League, causing their friendship and symbiosis to be strained.
  • The Corrupter: Unintentional on her part, but both Eddie and Venom have stated that Toga's Ax-Crazy nature and Yandere tendencies are actually corrupting Carnage, making her more unhinged and violent than the first Carnage. Given how twisted the first Carnage was upon being bonded to Cletus Kasady, their fears are warranted.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Toga is primarily a sadistic and happy-go-lucky murderer who has a very warped sense of love and friendship, but those friendships she creates mean everything to her, something that Carnage doesn't understand. As mentioned above, she hates the idea of someone controlling your actions, and this leads to her and Carnage having a falling out.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: Her Quirk gives her vampire-like incisors which not only let her drink blood like one, but also can convert the nutrients and carbon within it into the mud-like substance she uses to transforms into other people.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Toga, of all people, is actually a Blue Oni in this situation while Carnage is the Red Oni. Toga is forced to become the calm and reasonable one of the duo, reigning in Carnage's more rebellious nature, while Carnage is short-tempered, violent and overly sadistic.
  • Shapeshifting: Her Quirk, Transform, lets her transform into the person whose blood she drinks, making her look and sound just like them and have the same height and weight. However she doesn't technically change her body and rather her Quirk covers her in a mud-like substance that imitates the appearance of the person and cannot mimic their Quirks, at least not currently in this story.
  • Yandere: A typical example of one, though this aspect of her character is toned down to focus on her relationship with Carnage.
     Carnage II

Carnage II

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_221938857.png
"Oh yes way, boys~ Look alive, because Carnage has arrived~!" (Art by: Alistorya)
  • Adaptational Badass: Zigzagged as technically this isn't the original Carnage, rather a female sibling of his who shares the same name. Unlike her brother and like her comic book counterpart, she has a blood link with Toga rather than just being formed from Cletus' blood and a piece of Venom, and through having perfect symbiosis is able to overpower and nearly kill Venom, who has gone through rapid evolution that made him far stronger than in his home universe. Carnage is even able to overpower Sleeper, despite his superior control over his biomass, due to a lack of a host and can take on hordes of Nomus singlehandedly without much effort in Dr. Garaki's tests.
  • Adaptational Nice Girl: Most iterations of Carnage are irredeemably psychotic and only care about their host in a superficial sense, living only for nihilistic destruction and death. This Carnage however, Ax-Crazy as she is, does genuinely love Toga, seeing her as her family and sibling. She also seems to have loved her brother, the original Carnage, to some extent given her wanting revenge on Venom for eating him.
  • Ax-Crazy: Even more so than the original Carnage and Toga herself. Carnage seems to mainly exist only to create bloodshed and chaos, and takes sadistic glee in every moment of violence she takes part of, unless of course it's violence for a purpose other than revenge.
  • Berserk Button: Like her father Venom, she hates being called a parasite and becomes furious when either Toga is in danger or when the people around her show incompetence to the most obvious of situations.
  • The Corrupter: Inverted. Carnage does want Toga to embrace her violent nature to the point of not caring about her loyalty to the League and her comrades, but she actually does care about her and is simply trying to enforce what she believes is best for Toga, much to her disapproval.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: As sadistic, near-heartless and willing to use nearly any method of violence, Carnage is disgusted and enraged by the idea of being turned into an incubator to create an army of Nomu-symbiotes.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: As per usual with symbiotes, Carnage also feeds on brains to survive, however is much more ravenous and gleeful about it, plus has also adopted Toga's thirst for blood.
  • Lovecraftian Superpower: Even more so than Venom and Sleeper. She is mainly composed of Toga's bloodstream and so is a living mass of blood and biomass that can shapeshift and create organic weapons, like tendrils, blades, spikes and claws. She possesses superior senses, can gain knowledge and memories through eating brains and even hack into computer systems.
  • The Power of Blood: Of the Blood Magic and Bloody Murder variety, as a large percentage of Carnage's biomass much like comic book Carnage is actually Toga's bloodstream, essentially making her a living mass of blood and flesh that can shape herself into various weapons and sizes.
  • Psychopathic Womanchild: Besides revenge and plots of murder, Carnage doesn't act productive at all and simply wants to kill and devour people simply out of pure sadism. This leads to her disregarding Toga's autonomy and uses her body to leave the League of Villains for dead while she escapes and unleashes more chaos and bloodshed. This leads to Toga disowning her, leading to their symbiosis being severed.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Half of the bloodshed and violence she takes part in is to enact revenge on her father Venom, hating him for killing the original Carnage and wanting to seemingly usurp him as their Earth's strongest creature.
  • Sadist: Arguably the most sadistic individual in the story so far. Every act of violence and murder she takes part of feels orgasmic to the Blood Hunter, and doesn't really have much of a goal outside of revenge against Venom for killing her older brother.
  • Sworn Brothers: Because Carnage was born from Toga swallowing a piece of Venom and entering her bloodstream, she believes that this makes them sisters, as she is technically part of her. Toga initially accepts this oath of sisterhood, but revokes it once she learns that Carnage tried to betray the League.

Knights of the Cosmos (WARNING: Unmarked Spoilers)

     In General
  • Adaptation Distillation: The Knights of the Cosmos are more or less a simplified version of the Agents of the Cosmos from the comics, having a less shady background and morally dubious methods, acting more righteous and noble than their comic book inspirations.
  • Space Police: They are an organization dedicated to policing and protecting planets from invasion and criminal activity in the cosmos.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: In stark contrast to the Hero Public Safety Commission. The Knights of the Cosmos not only take the possibility of Knull's return with complete seriousness and concern, and chastise the Commission for being more concerned with prosecuting Eddie and Venom given that the entire multiverse's fate depends on whether or not the King in Black returns.
     Sleeper

Sleeper

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_221104902.png
"Just because you are chronologically older and from a previous generation does not give you permission to refer to me as a juvenile."
  • The Ace: He is regraded by the Collective as one of the best operatives of the Knights of the Cosmos, having near-perfect control over his biomass to the point of not needing a host and is able to manifest a Necrosword, which only the strongest of symbiotes can do.
  • Adaptational Badass: Both in the comics and the story Sleeper is shown to be an autonomous symbiote who can act without a host. However in the comics, Sleeper is inexperienced and still young, and cannot take on a humanoid shape alone, only ones resembling animals, and had to lobotomise one of his hosts to maintain full control. Here however, Sleeper is a seasoned warrior and possesses near-perfect control over his biomass, to the point of being able to take humanoid form without a host. Sleeper completely overwhelms Venom and Carnage in battle, not to mention is powerful enough to summon a Necrosword, something that only the strongest of their species could do in the comics.
  • Age Lift: Sleeper in the comics is the hot-blooded and youngest of Venom's offspring, however in this story he is a fully matured symbiote with years of combat experience.
  • BFS: His Necrosword, which usually resembles a broadsword used in European culture, can transform into a much larger blade that can cleave through multiple Nomus in a single swing.
  • Pragmatic Hero: Sleeper most definitely fights on the side of good and wishes to uphold cosmic balance, but his methods can be outright amoral or cold-blooded. He kills an officer to prevent being discovered in Japan and was contend with destroying both Venom and Carnage for being foreign elements within his universe. Fortunately, he chooses to ally with Eddie and Venom, and then forges an alliance with the Hero association once the threat of Knull becomes a factor.
  • Space Police: Venom even refers to him as a "space cop".
     Klyntarian Collective

The Klyntarian Collective

  • Greater-Scope Paragon: They founded the Knights of the Cosmos centuries ago as penance for once being thralls of Knull.
  • Original Character: The Collective do not exist within the comic, as the King in Black served as the Klyntarians' leader in the comics.
  • Supporting Leader: They are the leaders and elders of Klyntar-731, though primarily support Sleeper's mission and actions, and therefore indirectly Eddie and Venom's.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: The Collective chews out the Commission for demonizing Eddie and Venom and ignoring how serious a threat Knull is to existence.

Click to see his base form
  • The Ace: As the former Number 1 Hero and eighth holder of One For All, he was considered the be the strongest Hero in the world, with his mere presence causing crime to decrease considerably simply due to the sheer power and fame he once held.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Not in terms of actual power and strength, but rather accomplishments. Though he does use up One For All's power in canon, he at least is able to use its remaining power to defeat All For One and have him arrested, leading to him being praised and remembered as a non-lethal martyr who gives Japan another glimmer of hope. This story however is not so kind, as All For One is saved at the last minute by Knull, leading to All-Might not only wasting the last of One For All's power, but also leads to him going out as a either a Fallen Hero or pariah in the eyes of certain people, and leads to the public becoming distrusting of Hero society.
  • My Greatest Failure: How a good portion of Japan and All-Might himself sees his anticlimactic fight with All For One. Rather than going out by defeating his nemesis and re-igniting the spark of hope for future Heroes, All-Might's failure to defeat and capture All For One has lead to the public slowly losing their patience with the Pros and become less willing to trust Hero Schools like U.A. with protecting their children. During his visit to the Midoriya household, he admits to feeling that he failed not only his country but also his students, especially Izuku, and it's only by telling the truth about One For All to Inko that she considers letting her son return to U.A.
  • Odd Friendship: With Eddie and Venom. All-Might is a former Pro Hero who believes in following the rules, and though has a cynical side is ultimately someone who believes in hope and justice. Eddie and Venom meanwhile are an Anti-Hero duo who are willing to break the law, as well as kill and eat their adversaries, having a more realistic and sardonic view on justice and the law in general. Strangely enough, they are quite cordial and friendly towards each other.
  • World's Strongest Man: Was considered to be this during his prime, with no other Hero coming close to reaching this status, unless of course you count All For One, who is arguably even more powerful.

     Izuku Midoriya

Izuku Midoriya

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_223154635.png
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: An interesting example as it's more the different situation and events that have happened in the story that have caused Midoriya to become more stressed, angry and burdened with the responsibility of dealing with All-Might's failures. He initially start to take on Eddie and Venom's more pragmatic ideals in response to the faster decline of Hero Society due to All For One's escape though retracts some of his statements when his classmates calm him down. The biggest change however is that Midoriya goes from respecting and acknowledging Bakugo's strength and Character Development to truly resenting him, calling him out for the horrible things he did in their childhood and finally acknowledging that they weren't friends anymore.
  • Adaptational Badass: In canon, Midoriya doesn't obtain Blackwhip until during the Joint Training Arc after he had become much stronger from fighting Overhaul and Gentle Criminal. Here however, he unlocks Blackwhip during his fight with Bakugo that takes place after the Hideout Raid Arc and learns from Yoichi Shigaraki that he can now also access 30% of One For All's power. It is explained that One For All went through a rapid growth in response to Knull.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Midoriya, due to the added stress of All-Might failing to defeat and capture All For One in this continuity, becomes far more frustrated, assertive and blunt, even angrily objecting when his classmates try and defend the current state of Hero Society. He also blows off all of Bakugo's attempts to confide in him, instead growing increasingly angry at his self-centered attitude to the point where he nearly killed him.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Slowly starts to become like this after All-Might's defeat and the rapid decline of Hero Society. He becomes so enraged during his fight with Bakugo that he overwhelms him at every opportunity and is nearly driven into killing him before All-Might appears to calm him down.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Usually Midoriya takes the passive and submissive route when trying to reason or talk to others. However not only does he assert himself with Bakugo during their fight, he drops their childhood nickname of Kacchan, something that Bakugo notices.
  • Kick the Dog: Midoriya completely blows off Bakugo when he tries to finally speak about his guilt over All-Might losing his power. Justified however given that Bakugo spent most of their conversation insulting Midoriya and his progress.
  • No Sympathy: Justified. Bakugo like in canon tries to confide in Midoriya about how guilty he feels in regards to All-Might losing his power and not being able to defeat All For One, but instead of humouring Bakugo with a fight, Midoriya angrily blows him off, accusing him of yet again having an It's All About Me mentality about the Hosu incident and how he expects him to listen despite berating and insulting him with every second word or sentence.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Midoriya gives a heated and vulgar one to Bakugo, finally letting out all of the furstration and contempt he had for his former childhood friend. He calls him out for how horribly Bakugo treated him, including the time when he told Midoriya to take his own life in the hopes he'd be reborn with a Quirk. Midoriya then also tells him how All-Might chose him because of his heart and not because of his power, and even states that he no longer cares how strong and talented Bakugo is because of his Jerkass behaviour. While it's heavily implied that he doesn't mean every word he said, Midoriya still comes off as justified given Bakugo's nasty streak.
     Katsuki Bakugo

Katsuki Bakugo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_224332847.png
  • Abusive Parents: Mitsuki, unlike in canon, is emotionally and possibly physically abusive towards Bakugo, instilling the toxic notion that he cannot afford to be weak and must grow stronger. While it was treated as a gag in canon, Mitsuki calling Bakugo weak here genuinely hurt his feelings.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Zigzagged. Bakugo isn't technically weaker, rather Midoriya, though his Despair Event Horizon, shows no hesitation in battle when they fight, leading to Bakugo being blitzed by him.
  • Cerebus Retcon: In canon, Mitsuki's comment about Bakugo being weak for getting caught by Villains is played as a joke. However in this story, it's revealed that this comment hurt Bakugo on an emotional level and that his mother has been pushing a Might Makes Right mentality on him for years.
  • It's All About Me: His goals and actions tend to be quite self-serving and calls anyone he doesn't acknowledge an 'extra'. This is why Midoriya has No Sympathy for him when he tries to explain how guilt-ridden he is about All-Might losing his power rescuing him from the League of Villains, thinking that it's yet again his egotistical way of showing guilt despite him not being the reason for All-Might's loss of One For All.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite all of his death threats, Bakugo never truly fights to kill and is disgusted by Venom's habit of eating brains.
  • Jerkass: The epitome of this trope in My Hero Academia.
    • *Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Though he is overbearing, rude, loud, arrogant, spiteful and violent, he does deep down have a good heart, even if his ego often prevents him from showing it. Midoriya's "The Reason You Suck" Speech does also get him to realise just how horrible he was.

Pro Heroes

     Endeavour

Endeavour, Flame Hero (Enji Todoroki)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_224918771.png
  • Abusive Parents: There's a reason why people compare him to Fire Lord Ozai. Fortunately he is a reformed example, and so far has dropped his abusive behaviour, though that doesn't change the fact that he nearly destroyed his family due to his brutal and merciless parenting.
  • The Ace: As the Number 2 Hero, he is a seasoned and high-skilled Hero who has a near-flawless track record when it comes to arresting and stopping Villains.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Carnage cuts his left hand off during the Kamino incident. Ironic, given he loses his right arm in canon.
  • Playing with Fire: His Quirk, Hellflame, grants him pyrokinesis which through intense training has allowed him to create powerful techniques like Flash Fire and Prominence Burn. However overusing his Quirk can run the risk of him burning himself, unlike his son Shoto whose dual power-set lets him resist heat more.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: As the story begins during the Vs. Hero Killer Arc, Endeavour is no longer a pure Jerkass or Hate Sink. He's slowly starting to become less arrogant and has dropped his abusive behaviour towards his family. That being said, he still does act overconfident and domineering at times.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: As mentioned below, it was him shooting a piece of Venom off that lead to the new Carnage being born.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: He is partially to blame for the second Carnage's birth due to blasting off a piece of Venom which landed on one of Toga's victims, who in turn drinks the black substance out of curiosity, allowing it to merge with her bloodstream. Carnage, upon encountering Endeavour during the raid on the League's hideout, outright says that he is responsible for her conception.
     Thundermane

"Glad to hear that you're such a fan. Salamat." (Art by:F-Kim)
  • Celebrity Superhero: Like all Pro Heroes in the MHA universe. She is ranked Number 15 in Japan, and appears to be well-known enough that an entire subway full of people cheer and applaud her after her fight with an escaped Villain.
  • Heroism Won't Pay the Bills: Or at least, not all of them. Aside from being a heroine, she makes extra money by creating and selling energy drinks.
  • Original Character: She is an original character created for the story by the co-author.
  • Male Gaze: Eddie invokes this when they encounter each other at the mall, with Venom even forcing him to whistle in a flirtatious manner.
  • Rags to Riches: Subverted. Her family and community back in the Philippines struggles financially and so does Hero work to support them, and most definitely is not loaded or wealthy.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She recognises that Venom is not the true threat during the Hosu incident and assists him in taking on the Leagues' Nomus. She only tries to capture him when the Nomus are dealt with.
  • Ship Tease: She doesn't mind that Eddie was checking her out, and Venom even tries to be a wingman of sorts when they have coffee.
  • Shock and Awe: Her Quirk allows her to create and discharge electricity from her hair. She also has gauntlets as Support Items to discarge electricity from her hands.
  • Token Minority: Thundermane isn't Japanese like most of the Pro Heroes in Japan, and instead originates from the Philippines.
     Viper (WARNING: Unmarked Spoilers

Viper, Serpentine Hero

"If the Hassaikai, All For One, and his League were watching us right now, they'd confuse this goddamn arrangement for a dramatic stage play."(Art by:F-Kim)
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite his villainous appearance, he took up the mantle of being a Pro Hero. Actually placing near the Top 10 (according to Chainsaw Man).
  • Deadpan Snarker: Points out that the whole conference that was held by Nighteye was a complete mess, with the constant interruptions and infighting, along with Nighteye being okay with the U.A. students being present and inviting Sleeper, Eddie & Venom, and Lady Nagant.
Viper: "You can all call me what you may, but from everything that just happened here, this whole conference was poorly organized and it turned out even worse when we got the ball rolling. If the Hassaikai, All For One, and his League were watching us right now, they’d confuse this goddamn arrangement for a dramatic stage play. Inviting the kids here was bad enough, but especially those convicts and aliens being here unannounced was a horrible decision and I distrust them just as much as most of you here...That being said, despite everyone’s thoughts, including my own about those four, the fact is that they most likely hold information that can help us keep pace with what’s going on with All For One and Knull. So at least give them a chance to speak on their own behalf. And let me be clear, I’m not saying this meeting shouldn’t have happened, that this was a complete waste of time, nor that all the blame falls on Nighteye for calling us here. With or without the involvement of All For One, I’d say this is pretty important to discuss.”
  • Earlybird Cameo: Appears unnammed during the meeting after All-Might's defeat in chapter 13.
  • Original Character: He is an orignal character created for the story by the co-author.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: During the conference held by Sir Nighteye, he realized how important the situation was when bringing up the topic of Knull and stood up for Sleeper, Eddie, and Nagant, despite his own judgement towards them. Saying that everyone should hear them out when the other Heroes were either antagonistic or wanted to dismiss the subject entirely.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: Subverted. Is actually one of the top Pro Heroes of Japan.
  • Snake People: Labelled as the "Serpentine Hero", has three snakes that act as his tails, and has slit pupils like those on a snake.
     Hawks

Hawks, Wing Hero (Keigo Takami)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_225037395.png
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: In canon, Hawks doesn't show up until the Pro Hero Arc after he is promoted to the Number 2 spot in the Hero Rankings. Here, he appears as reinforcement during the Kamino incident and is still the Number 3 Hero. He even assists in fighting All For One.
  • BFS: He forms a colossal sword made of feathers when fighting against Venom.
  • Hero Antagonist: Serves as one towards Eddie and Venom after the climax of All-Might and All For One's anticlimactic fight. While it's true that Eddie and Venom are unambiguously the good guys of the story, Hawks is simply just doing his job by trying to arrest them, given that they were breaking the law and their parole.
  • Jerkass: His carefree and seemingly apathetic nature leads to people thinking he's one.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While he is quite smug and follows the clearly amoral Commission's orders to a T, Hawks isn't wrong to try and arrest Eddie and Venom, given the countless laws they've broken and are violating their parole by being in Kamino.
  • Razor Wings: His Quirk, Fierce Wings, gives him red feathered wings and has telekinetic control over each individual feather which are quite sharp and can be used as blades or projectiles in combat, and fortunately regenerate should he lose them. He can't however fly if he uses too many feathers and should his wings be burnt, they could suffer permanent damage.
  • The Worf Effect: A more heroic example. Hawks is currently the Number 3 Hero, but will go onto become the Number 2 Hero like in canon, showing that despite his young age, his training under the Commission turned him into a nigh-infallible assassin and warrior with precise control over his Quirk. That being said, he is unprepared and ill-equipped to face Venom, who not only can regenerate from any attack Hawks lands, but had previously overpowered and killed Muscular and survived direct attacks from All For One himself.

Kamui Woods (Shinji Nishiya)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_225212103.png
  • Death by Adaptation: Kamui Woods survives in canon and goes on to fight in the Paranormal Liberation War alongside the other Pro Heroes. Here, he is killed by Carnage during the raid on the League of Villains' hideout.
  • Green Thumb: His Quirk, Arbor, allows him to transform his body parts into wood and control and shape the branches into tendrils and weapons for combat.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Dies in the same chapter he debuts in.

Hero Public Safety Commission (WARNING: Unmarked Spoilers)

     In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2023_04_10_121602600.png
"We have a new enemy now, one that if our new allies are correct, threaten our very world, and we'll need all of the help we can get, even if we have to resort to less than stellar methods."
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Canonically the Commission are indeed morally dubious adjudicators of Hero Society, even willing to have Pro Heroes assassinated if they believe they posed a threat to national security. That being said, the Commission primarily still handle their business in a professional and polite manner. Here however, the Commission show outright prejudice and intolerance towards Eddie and Venom's actions despite their good intentions and status as beings from another universe. When the Knights of the Cosmos attempt to forge an alliance with them, the Commission prioritizes demonizing Eddie and Venom over the threat of Knull's invasion, leading to Sleeper and the Klyntarian Collective chewing them out for focusing on their petty grudge over the possibility of multiversal destruction. Even then, they hire Lady Nagant behind their new allies' backs to assassinate the Volcano Thieves despite telling Sleeper that they wanted them alive.
  • Corrupt Politician: The President and Board members are portrayed in this manner, choosing to focus on incriminating Eddie and Venom and undermining their alliance with the Knights of the Cosmos by hiring Nagant to kill the Volcano Thieves.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: They wish to preserve the status quo of Hero society, even if it means using forms of manipulation and even outright murder and espionage.
     Lady Nagant

Lady Nagant (Kaina Tsutsumi)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_09_223009225.png
"What is this? A group therapy session where we sit in a circle and talk about our shitty childhoods?"
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Nagant first appeared as the primary antagonist of the Tartarus Escapees Arc, being hired by All For One to capture Midoriya. Here, she appears just after the Kamino incident and is hired by the Commission to assassinate the Volcano Thieves.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In canon, she is hired by All For One to capture Midoriya, and agreed to help him due to her disillusion with Heroes and the law, perfectly willing to allow the Symbol of Evil to destroy the world so long as the corruption in society was wiped out. Here, Nagant never gets the chance to be hired by All For One and though her opinions are still the same, she is technically on the side of good due to her actions opposing what All For One and Knull want.
  • Adaptational Nice Girl: Canonically, Nagant was much more cynical and miserable, having barely any patience for tomfoolery and people's antics. Here, she is much more upbeat and fun-loving, though still has a low opinion of Hero society.
  • Adaptational Wimp: In canon as part of taking All For One's job to capture Midoriya, she was given the Quirk Sky Walk, allowing her to walk on thin air. Here however due to being re-employed by the Commission, Nagant only has the one Quirk.
  • Cold Sniper: She is Japan's best sniper and a deadly one at that.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Has a level of snark that can rival or even surpass Eddie's.
  • The Dreaded: The Volcano Thieves are terrified that the Lady Nagant, Japan's best sniper who acted as the Commission's main enforcer and assassin for years, was sent after them.
  • Enemy Mine: Forms an alliance with Eddie, Venom and Sleeper to apprehend the Volcano Thieves.
  • Hired Guns: Tasked by the Hero Public Safety Commission to assassinate the Volcano Thieves after accepting their offer on getting out of Tartarus.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: She could've easily killed the Volcano Thieves or hit Venom and Sleeper from a couple of kilometers away, but she only wounded Gust Boy and missed Venom and Sleeper on purpose as they were closing in on her location. Volcano even comes to the conclusion that she didn't kill them because they were going to be interrogated first.
Volcano: "Fortunately, Nagant wasn't shooting to kill, whoever sent her wanted to interrogate us before she puts a bullet in our skulls."
  • Organic Technology: Her Quirk transforms her right arm into a sniper rifle and she can create ammunition out of her hair. Though she can load and fire other types of rounds using her Quirk.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Though technically working on the side of good given her mission, Nagant is still a convicted criminal who murdered her superior after a psychotic breakdown and is disillusioned by Heroes because of the corruption in the higher echelons of Hero society.

Villains

    Knull (WARNING: Unmarked Spoilers)

Knull, God of the Symbiotes

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2023_01_04_172208339.png
"I am the Living Abyss...I existed before this reality and shall exist long after...I slumbered the colorless void until light invaded my kingdom and drove me out of my rightful place in the never-ending cosmos...I am the Forger of Darkness, the King in Black...I am...Knull..."
  • Abusive Precursors: He treated his creations and progeny, the Klyntar, as nothing more than weapons and parasites to conquer and destroy reality with. It's no wonder that upon bonding with other life forms and growing a conscience that the Symbiotes chose to seal away their master.
  • Adaptational Badass: In the comics, Knull had a counterpart or variant in each of the universes he exists within, therefore making him only on par with Celestials and Cosmic Entities but much weaker than the likes of the Beyonder and Living Tribunal. Here however, Knull is outright stated to be a multiversal entity that is the progenitor of all Symbiotes across each universe, with Sleeper and the Knights of the Cosmos stating that he could destroy the Multiverse if fully released from his prison.
  • Big Bad: He is the true antagonist of the story, with All For One serving as The Heavy due to Knull's imprisonment.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: As fitting for someone called the King in Black, Knull is primarily shrouded in darkness within his prison, and his eyes glow a sinister red, reflecting his evil nature.
  • Deal with the Devil: All For One agrees to help set Knull free and become his herald for his war on creation in exchange for hidden knowledge about the Symbiotes, therefore allowing All For One to create an army of Nomu-Symbiote hybrids who will serve as Knull's new army.
  • The Dreaded: Everyone who has heard of him or encountered him is terrified by him, even All For One (Who is The Dreaded himself) upon meeting him was overwhelmed by his mere presence and Sleeper and the Knights of the Cosmos were scared enough to immediately propose an alliance with Earth's Heroes.
  • God of Evil: He's a malevolent Elder God who personifies darkness and the void, seeking to return the Multiverse back to a time before creation and light.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: As the creator of all Symbiotes across the Multiverse, Knull is indirectly responsible for every evil and atrocious act they commit due to being specifically made to conquer and devour other life forms. He also saves All For One from All-Might and makes him his herald in exchange for knowledge about the Symbiotes.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Is known by many titles, including King in Black, The Living Abyss, God of the Symbiotes and the Forger of Darkness, all describing how much of a malevolent and nightmarish deity he is.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: He despises all of creation and life and wishes to return the Multiverse back to when it was a dark and empty abyss, a domain where he reigned supreme as the god of primordial darkness.
  • Satanic Archetype: Let's see, ancient evil entity that opposed the forces of light, created a race of monsters who essentially possess and corrupt their victims, is imprisoned by his own allies who could not stomach his evil intentions any longer and makes a deal with a mortal in order to be set free.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Knull was imprisoned in a dark space outside of the Multiverse by his own Symbiotes, who no longer wished to follow their creator's omnicidal agenda. All For One, as part of the deal he made with the King in Black, is tasked with freeing him.

League Of Villains (WARNING: Unmarked Spoilers)

     All For One

All For One, Symbol of Evil (??? Shigaraki)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_225734599.png
“That is something you do not yet need to know, but I assure you that if this plan works, then you will have the most powerful army in the world, maybe even beyond…”
  • The Ace: Is arguably the most powerful human in the My Hero Academia universe, possessing hundreds of different Quirks he can use that allowed him to dominate the criminal underworld for over a century.
  • Adaptational Badass: Heavily implied. After returning from his meeting with Knull, All For One sports a new suit and has Knull's spiral carved into his head, which may suggest he was given hidden knowledge and power from Knull.
  • Adaptation Deviation: All For One was defeated by All-Might during the Kamino incident and imprisoned in Tartarus, only breaking out and becoming a main threat again several story arcs later. Here however, he not only escapes but leaves the world in a worse state than before due to All-Might losing his Quirk and wasting its power on an attack that didn't land. He has now become the herald for Knull, seeking to help his new benefactor escape his imprisonment.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Canonically speaking, All For One is an egotistical and megalomaniacal madman obsessed with becoming the antithesis of good, and though initially him saving and grooming Tomura into becoming a powerful Villain was considered to be a redeeming quality given how fatherly he acts towards the young man. Recent chapters of the manga however show that he only wanted to use Tomura as a vessel due to his current body being scarred and far weaker than in his prime. Here however his fatherly traits seem much more genuine.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Becomes the primary antagonist of the story alongside Knull.
  • The Dreaded: As per his status as the unholy king of the criminal underworld, whose mere presence causes people to see their own deaths.
  • The Heavy: Though the true Big Bad of the story is Knull, All For One is currently the main physical threat who is plotting to set the King in Black free.
     Tomura Shigaraki

Tomura Shigaraki, Symbol of Fear (Tenko Shimura)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2023_04_16_005701503.png
Click to see his Pre-Awakened form
  • Abusive Parents: His father, Kotaro Shimura, would physically and emotionally abuse Shigaraki as a child for wanting to be a Hero, all because Kotaro's Pro Hero mother abandoned him to try and keep him safe from All For One. His mother and grandparents, though not abusive, were negligent and refused to stop Kotaro's behaviour, making them complicit in his suffering. Also while Shigaraki deep down regrets killing his family, he loathed his father so much that he enjoyed killing him as a child.
  • Adaptational Badass: Zigzagged with Adaptational Wimp. On one hand, Shigaraki is confirmed by Word of God to not have All For One's Quirk nor will he be receiving it, and so does not become the strongest Villain in the world like in canon. On the other hand however, Shigaraki became far more powerful much faster than in canon through training with Gigantomachia and the other League members has become much stronger and skilled with his Quirk, and through Knull's influence, achieved Quirk Awakening, allowing him to make objects and people decay without even touching them.
  • Adaptational Wimp: As mentioned above, Shigaraki does not receive All For One and its arsenal of Quirks nor does he receive the body modifications that granted him inhuman strength, speed and durability that let him fight even when his Quirks were deactivated by Eraser Head. Shigaraki also is still slightly co-dependent on All For One, mostly because the Symbol of Evil wasn't arrested and therefore didn't give Shigaraki the time to further mature on his own.
  • The Dragon: Serves as this to All For One
    • Dragon with an Agenda: He has separate goals from All For One, which his master encourages him to follow, though given both All For One and Knull's plans for the Earth, Shigaraki may not be able to pursue these plans anyway.
  • The Dreaded: Upon achieving his Quirk Awakening, Shigaraki can project his malice and bloodlust at others, creating a feeling of dread and terror in their body that involuntarily triggers one's self-preservation instincts. All For One even refers to post-Awakened Shigaraki as "The Symbol of Fear".
  • Mystical White Hair: Shigaraki was born with black hair, but his Quirk initially turned it grey-blue, and then his Awakening changed it to snow white.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: He started off like this, only to grow and mature into a more competent and emotionally stable person. Though make no mistake, he becomes just as deranged and violent when angered.
  • Reduced to Dust: The results of his Quirk, Decay. Originally anything he puts all five fingers on, living or non-living, would slowly disintegrate into grey dust, though he no longer needs all of his fingers and can activate Decay on willpower alone. After going through Awakening, Decay evolved and can now project shockwaves that will reduce anything they hit into dust, including buildings and entire landscapes.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Has a full head of white snow-like hair, and just so happens to be one of the deadliest Villains on the planet.

  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: She has some stubble even as she transitioned.
  • Magnetism Manipulation: Her Quirk, Magnetism, allows her to apply a magnetic force to those around her, with men acting as the "south poles" while women are "north poles". Though she cannot use her Quirk on herself, she uses this in conjunction with a giant magnet she carries with her.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: She dies in chapter 16 while fighting Gigantomachia.

Volcano Thieves (WARNING: Unmarked Spoilers)

     Volcano

Volcano (Maguma Iwata)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_230213915.png
"No, the mariachi uniform we got back at our job in Mexico-of course I meant your civilian clothes!"
  • Adaptation Expansion: Volcano, alongside the other Volcano Thieves, originate from the arcade game My Hero Academia: Clash! Heroes Battle and due to most of the footage and media associated with them being lost, there isn't much known about the character lore-wise. Here, they are a group of mercenaries, stated to be one of the best Japan has to offer, serving as antagonists for the ongoing plot to find the Grendel and revive Knull.
  • Dumb Muscle: Subverted. Not only is Volcano quite the powerhouse, he is also intelligent enough to know when to apply stealth to a situation and has enough foresight to try and not draw attention to himself and his comrades. He initially refuses to let Dusty Ash and Gust Boy have alcohol with their dinner due to a previous incident where they compromised themselves upon getting intoxicated. Volcano is also knowledgeable about the criminal underworld and world history, knowing that Nordic country does not solely mean Norway.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: When Gust Boy points out that their job in Berlin was on Oktoberfest during Volcano's initial refusal to allow them to have alcohol, Volcano argues that it's not an excuse for their drunken attempt to blow up Brandenburg Gate.
  • Genius Bruiser: Downplayed. He isn't a genius academically and is prone to losing his temper in battle, but he is experienced and smart enough to know how to approach situations, such as combining his and his comrades' Quirks together to gain an advantage in combat.
  • Hired Guns: Is a mercenary who is hired by All For One to find the Grendel.
  • Magma Man: His Villain name and Quirk spell this out quite clearly. His Quirk, Eruption, lets his body produce steaming hot lava by burning through fat though wears special equipment, like miniature shoulder volcanoes and a gauntlet, to regulate his body temperature and protect his skin from burns.
  • Only Sane Man: Zigzagged. As the leader of the Volcano Thieves, he knows when to be productive and to not mess around, and is careful to not draw attention to himself when on the job. However Volcano can lose his temper, be reckless in battle and has fallen for Dusty Ash's seduction a few times.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Upon Dusty finding the painting with the Black Sun, Volcano has Dusty take a photo of it instead of Gust Boy's suggestion, largely to prevent Norwegian police and Pro Heroes coming up their asses this early on if a very expensive painting in a Norwegian museum went missing.
  • Sarcasm Mode: During their leave from a museum in Norway, he replies like this at the start in response to Gust Boy's question.
     Dusty Ash

Dusty Ash (Konako Haizono)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_230252494.png
"Oh, but Iwata...Surely you can give us another chance...just this once~?
  • Adaptation Expansion: Dusty Ash, alongside the other Volcano Thieves, originate from the arcade game My Hero Academia: Clash! Heroes Battle and due to most of the footage and media associated with them being lost, there isn't much known about the character lore-wise. Here, they are a group of mercenaries, stated to be one of the best Japan has to offer, serving as antagonists for the ongoing plot to find the Grendel and revive Knull.
  • Adaptational Name Change: Her ultimate move from the arcade game, Battle Royal, was changed to Dust Storm Slicer. Funny enough, the original name is lampshaded by Venom.
Venom: "And what do you call this stupid attack? Battle Royal?"
Dusty Ash: "No! That's the stupidest name for an attack I've ever heard!"
  • Adaptational Weapon Swap: In the arcade game, Dusty Ash uses a baton that is shaped like a tanto. In the story however, her weapon is an actual tanto.
  • Ashes to Ashes: Her Quirk, Dust, lets her produce an ash-like substance from her body which she can use to temporarily blind or stun someone, or even create a cloud of ash to provide herself and her allies with cover. The drawback is that overusing her Quirk makes her skin dry up.
  • Femme Fatale: She is a mercenary who dresses in a very revealing costume, is capable of seducing men (including her own comrades) to manipulate them or get her way, and is a trained killer.
  • Hired Guns: Is a mercenary who is hired by All For One to find the Grendel.
  • I Have Boobs, You Must Obey!: Dusty Ash uses her breasts to persuade Volcano into drinking alcohol during their time in Norway. And she even gets her way afterwards!
  • Katanas Are Better: Uses a tanto, the katana equivalent of a short sword, as her main weapon.
  • Money Fetish: She literally rubs herself and gasps after All For One stated that he is willing to let the Volcano Thieves name the price of their payment before he leaves the Volcano Thieves to do their assigned task.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Fitting for a Femme Fatale archetype. Not only does her costume, which is primarily just a sports bra, panties and belts, showing off plenty of skin and cleavage as a result. She also display good seduction skills, using them to convince Volcano to let them have alcohol with their dinner.
  • Oktoberfest: During their mission in Berlin, Dusty and Gust both get very drunk... and nearly blow up Brandenburg Gate. It's one of the reasons why Volcano initially refuses to let them have alcohol because of it.
  • Pungeon Master: Seems to be fond of making puns, much to Venom's annoyance.
  • The Smurfette Principle: Is the only female member of the Volcano Thieves.
  • Stealth Expert: During their infiltration mission in Oslo, Volcano mentally notes to himself that Dusty Ash is the best at stealth.
  • Three-Way Sex: Implied at the end of chapter 19 and stated at the beginning of chapter 20, both Gust Boy and Volcano had sex with her.
     Gust Boy

Gust Boy (Tsumuji Kazetani)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_230335079.png
"Is this a joke? We're mercenaries, not larpers!
  • Adaptational Badass: According to his bio from the arcade game, Gust Boy can only spin his wrists for one minute at a time, but in the story has shown to be able to use his Quirk for much longer.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Gust Boy, alongside the other Volcano Thieves, originate from the arcade game My Hero Academia: Clash! Heroes Battle and due to most of the footage and media associated with them being lost, there isn't much known about the character lore-wise. Here, they are a group of mercenaries, stated to be one of the best Japan has to offer, serving as antagonists for the ongoing plot to find the Grendel and revive Knull.
  • Ask a Stupid Question...: When Volcano tells them to remember their disguises while heading back to the inn they're staying at, Gust Boy asks if he means their civilian clothes.
Volcano: No, the mariachi uniform we got back at our job in Mexico- of course I meant your civilian clothes!
  • Blow You Away: His Quirk, Fan, gives him fan blade-like fingers and can spin his wrists with enough force to create powerful gusts of air. However spinning his wrists for prolonged time can cause his wrist joints and muscles to swell and ache.
  • Cassandra Truth: He is immediately sceptical of All For One's claims about the symbiotes and the Grendel. Justifed however given that the Symbol of Evil didn't exactly give them much proof.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Downplayed. Gust Boy can act professional and stay focused when on the job, but when off the job he tends to be the most loud, eccentric and hot-blooded of the group.
  • The Ditz: He's most definitely not the smartest member of the Volcano Thieves, with Volcano or Dusty Ash usually coming up with the plans while Gust Boy supports them.
  • Gonk: He is the least attractive member of the Volcano Thieves, however given that all Heteromorphs in the series tend to look less human anyway, he could be considered attractive by their standards.
  • Hidden Depths: Though he isn't the smartest guy, he is shown to still be very efficient when on the job. He also can memorise and pronounce Norwegian cuisine.
  • Hired Guns: Is a mercenary who is hired by All For One to find the Grendel.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: He has an elongated mouth and lips, resembling a duck's bill, and has orange fan blades for fingers.
  • Oktoberfest: When Volcano tells both him and Dusty Ash that they cannot have alcohol after what happened in Berlin, Gust argues that it was Oktoberfest.
Volcano: You know what happened last time, that job in Berlin?
    Gust Boy: It was Oktoberfest!
Volcano: You two nearly blew up the Brandenburg Gate!

     Overhaul

Overhaul (Kai Chisaki)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2022_12_07_230529206.png
“What are you trying to say, All For One? That I haven’t done enough for you yet? Well then, tell me what else this is going to take in order to meet him!”
  • Abusive Parents: He's not actually Eri's father, but he is her legal guardian due to putting her grandfather in a coma, and is only interested in exploiting her Quirk's ability to render people powerless. To this end, he has vivisected her countless times and rebuilt her with his Quirk, inflicting much physical and psychological trauma upon her.
  • Adaptational Villainy: He was already quite the ruthless and smug sociopath in canon, given the lengths he would go to try and wipe out Quirks, however he did have some redeeming and pitiful qualities, as he genuinely wanted to repay his boss for taking him in as a child and even indirectly apologised to him for putting him in a coma. This story however leads to him slowly shedding off his humanity, with one of his first major actions being killing his boss and denouncing his dreams.
  • Hate Sink: If you hated him in canon, then you'll hate him even more here. If experimenting on Eri wasn't enough, Overhaul chooses to kill his boss and mock his code of honour and ethics rather than be destroyed by All For One, then passive aggressively threatens Chronostasis into obedience when he discovers what he did.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: He sees his murder of his boss and alliance with All For One as this, fearing his and the Shie Hassaikai's destruction more than believing in his goal to eradicate Quirks.
  • Transmutation: His Quirk, Overhaul, lets him alter and shape the atomic structure of any object or organism he touches with his bare hands, be it turning the ground and walls around him into spikes and deadly attacks or just simply making a person's body combust. Though there isn't an exact limit on what he can do with his Quirk, he does need his hands in order to activate it, and will be left virtually powerless if his hands are destroyed.
  • The Sociopath: Even more so than in canon, as he still genuinely cared about his boss despite putting him in a coma. Here, he not only chooses to kill his boss, but mocks everything that they tried to do as a Yakuza syndicate, and comes to the conclusion that survival is what matters and not honour or standards.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The biggest reason as to why many fans hate him, as he used Eri's blood and flesh to create Quirk Destroying Bullets, all while he's supposed to be her surrogate father and legal guardian.
