Because Carnage was born from Toga swallowing a piece of Venom and entering her bloodstream, she believes that this makes them sisters, as she is technically part of her. Toga initially accepts this oath of sisterhood[[spoiler:, but revokes it once she learns that Carnage tried to betray the League.]]

* AbusiveParents: His father, Kotaro Shimura, would physically and emotionally abuse Shigaraki as a child for wanting to be a Hero, all because Kotaro's Pro Hero mother abandoned him to try and keep him safe from All For One.

* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: An interesting example as it's more the different situation and events that have happened in the story that have caused Midoriya to become more stressed, angry and burdened with the responsibility of dealing with All-Might's failures. He initially start to take on Eddie and Venom's more pragmatic ideals in response to the faster decline of Hero Society due to All For One's escape though retracts some of his statements when his classmates calm him down. [[spoiler: The biggest change however is that Midoriya goes from respecting and acknowledging Bakugo's strength and CharacterDevelopment to truly resenting him, calling him out for the horrible things he did in their childhood and finally acknowledging that they weren't friends anymore.]]

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: As mentioned below, it was him shooting a piece of Venom off that lead to the new Carnage being born.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: He is partially to blame for the second Carnage's birth due to blasting off a piece of Venom which landed on one of Toga's victims, who in turn drinks the black substance out of curiosity, allowing it to merge with her bloodstream. Even then, they hire Lady Nagant behind their new allies' backs to assassinate the Volcano Thieves despite telling Sleeper that they wanted them alive.

Volcano is also knowledgeable about the criminal underworld and world history, knowing that Nordic country does not solely mean Norway.
* GeniusBruiser: Downplayed. He isn't a genius academically and is prone to losing his temper in battle, but he is experienced and smart enough to know how to approach situations, such as combining his and his comrades' Quirks together to gain an advantage in combat.
* HiredGuns: Is a mercenary who is hired by All For One to find the Grendel.
* MagmaMan: His Villain name and Quirk spell this out quite clearly. His Quirk, Eruption, lets his body produce steaming hot lava by burning through fat though wears special equipment, like miniature shoulder volcanoes and a gauntlet, to regulate his body temperature and protect his skin from burns.
* OnlySaneMan: Zigzagged. As the leader of the Volcano Thieves, he knows when to be productive and to not mess around, and is careful to not draw attention to himself when on the job. However Volcano can lose his temper, be reckless in battle and has fallen for Dusty Ash's seduction a few times.
