* AbusiveParents: His father, Kotaro Shimura, would physically and emotionally abuse Shigaraki as a child for wanting to be a Hero, all because Kotaro's Pro Hero mother abandoned him to try and keep him safe from All For One. His mother and grandparents, though not abusive, were negligent and refused to stop Kotaro's behaviour, making them complicit in his suffering. Also while Shigaraki deep down regrets killing his family, he loathed his father so much that he enjoyed killing him as a child.

* AdaptationalWimp: As mentioned above, Shigaraki does not receive All For One and its arsenal of Quirks nor does he receive the body modifications that granted him inhuman strength, speed and durability that let him fight even when his Quirks were deactivated by Eraser Head.

* AdaptationalWimp: As mentioned above, Shigaraki does not receive All For One and its arsenal of Quirks nor does he receive the body modifications that granted him inhuman strength, speed and durability that let him fight even when his Quirks were deactivated by Eraser Head. Shigaraki also is still slightly co-dependent on All For One, mostly because the Symbol of Evil wasn't arrested and therefore didn't give Shigaraki the time to further mature on his own.
* TheDragon: Serves as this to All For One
** DragonWithAnAgenda: He has separate goals from All For One, which his master encourages him to follow, though given both All For One and Knull's plans for the Earth, Shigaraki may not be able to pursue these plans anyway.
* TheDreaded: Upon achieving his Quirk Awakening, Shigaraki can project his malice and bloodlust at others, creating a feeling of dread and terror in their body that involuntarily triggers one's self-preservation instincts. All For One even refers to post-Awakened Shigaraki as "The Symbol of Fear".
* MysticalWhiteHair: Shigaraki was born with black hair, but his Quirk initially turned it grey-blue, and then his Awakening changed it to snow white.
* PsychopathicManchild: He started off like this, only to grow and mature into a more competent and emotionally stable person. Though make no mistake, he becomes just as deranged and violent when angered.
* ReducedToDust: The results of his Quirk, Decay. Originally anything he puts all five fingers on, living or non-living, would slowly disintegrate into grey dust, though he no longer needs all of his fingers and can activate Decay on willpower alone. After going through Awakening, Decay evolved and can now project shockwaves that will reduce anything they hit into dust, including buildings and entire landscapes.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Has a full head of white snow-like hair, and just so happens to be one of the deadliest Villains on the planet.

On one hand, Shigaraki is confirmed by WordOfGod to not have All For One's Quirk nor will he be receiving it, and so does not become the strongest Villain in the world like in canon. On the other hand however, Shigaraki became far more powerful much faster than in canon through training with Gigantomachia and the other League members has become much stronger and skilled with his Quirk, and through Knull's influence, achieved Quirk Awakening, allowing him to make objects and people decay without even touching them.

* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler: Mitsuki, unlike in canon, is emotionally and possibly physically abusive towards Bakugo, instilling the toxic notion that he cannot afford to be weak and must grow stronger. He has now become the herald for Knull, seeking to help his new benefactor escape his imprisonment.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Canonically speaking, All For One
is an orignal character created for egotistical and megalomaniacal madman obsessed with becoming the antithesis of good, and though initially him saving and grooming Tomura into becoming a powerful Villain was considered to be a redeeming quality given how fatherly he acts towards the young man. * AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: In canon, Hawks doesn't show up until the ''Pro Hero Arc'' after he is promoted to the Number 2 spot in the Hero Rankings. [[spoiler: Here, he appears as reinforcement during the Kamino incident and is still the Number 3 Hero. He even assists in fighting All For One.]]
* {{BFS}}: [[spoiler: He forms a colossal sword made of feathers when fighting against Venom.]]
* HeroAntagonist: [[spoiler: Serves as one towards Eddie and Venom after the climax of All-Might and All For One's anticlimactic fight. While it's true that Eddie and Venom are unambiguously the good guys of the story, Hawks is simply just doing his job by trying to arrest them, given that they were breaking the law and their parole.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: His carefree and seemingly apathetic nature leads to people thinking he's one.
* JerkassHasAPoint: [[spoiler: While he is quite smug and follows the clearly amoral Commission's orders to a T, Hawks isn't wrong to try and arrest Eddie and Venom, given the countless laws they've broken and are violating their parole by being in Kamino.]]
* RazorWings: His Quirk, Fierce Wings, gives him red feathered wings and has telekinetic control over each individual feather which are quite sharp and can be used as blades or projectiles in combat, and fortunately regenerate should he lose them. He can't however fly if he uses too many feathers and should his wings be burnt, they could suffer permanent damage.
* TheWorfEffect: A more heroic example. Hawks is currently the Number 3 Hero, but will go onto become the Number 2 Hero like in canon, showing that despite his young age, his training under the Commission turned him into a nigh-infallible assassin and warrior with precise control over his Quirk. [[spoiler: That being said, he is unprepared and ill-equipped to face Venom, who not only can regenerate from any attack Hawks lands, but had previously overpowered and killed Muscular and survived direct attacks from All For One himself.]]

Here, they are a group of mercenaries, stated to be one of the best Japan has to offer, serving as antagonists for the ongoing plot to find the Grendel and revive Knull.
* DumbMuscle: Subverted. Not only is Volcano quite the powerhouse, he is also intelligent enough to know when to apply stealth to a situation and has enough foresight to try and not draw attention to himself and his comrades. He initially refuses to let Dusty Ash and Gust Boy have alcohol with their dinner due to a previous incident where they compromised themselves upon getting intoxicated. Volcano is also knowledgeable about the criminal underworld and world history, knowing that Nordic country does not solely mean Norway.
* GeniusBruiser: Downplayed. He isn't a genius academically and is prone to losing his temper in battle, but he is experienced and smart enough to know how to approach situations, such as combining his and his comrades' Quirks together to gain an advantage in combat.
* HiredGuns: Is a mercenary who is hired by All For One to find the Grendel.
* MagmaMan: His Villain name and Quirk spell this out quite clearly. * AdaptationalNameChange: Her ultimate move from the arcade game, Battle Royal, was changed to Dust Storm Slicer. Funny enough, the original name is lampshaded by Venom.
--> '''Venom''': "And what do you call this stupid attack? Battle Royal?"
--> '''Dusty Ash''': "No! That's the stupidest name for an attack I've ever heard!"
* AdaptationalWeaponSwap: In the arcade game, Dusty Ash uses a baton that is shaped like a tanto. In the story however, her weapon is an actual tanto.
* AshesToAshes: Her Quirk, Dust, lets her produce an ash-like substance from her body which she can use to temporarily blind or stun someone, or even create a cloud of ash to provide herself and her allies with cover. The drawback is that overusing her Quirk makes her skin dry up.
* FemmeFatale: She is a mercenary who dresses in a very revealing costume, is capable of seducing men (including her own comrades) to manipulate them or get her way, and is a trained killer.
* HiredGuns: Is a mercenary who is hired by All For One to find the Grendel.
* IHaveBoobsYouMustObey: Dusty Ash uses her breasts to persuade Volcano into drinking alcohol during their time in Norway. And she even gets her way afterwards!
* KatanasAreBetter: Uses a tanto, the katana equivalent of a short sword, as her main weapon.
* MoneyFetish: She literally rubs herself and gasps after All For One stated that he is willing to let the Volcano Thieves name the price of their payment before he leaves the Volcano Thieves to do their assigned task.
* MsFanservice: Fitting for a FemmeFatale archetype. Not only does her costume, which is primarily just a sports bra, panties and belts, showing off plenty of skin and cleavage as a result. * AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: Nagant first appeared as the primary antagonist of the ''Tartarus Escapees Arc'', being hired by All For One to capture Midoriya. Here, she appears just after the Kamino incident and is hired by the Commission to assassinate the Volcano Thieves.
* AdaptationalHeroism: In canon, she is hired by All For One to capture Midoriya, and agreed to help him due to her disillusion with Heroes and the law, perfectly willing to allow the Symbol of Evil to destroy the world so long as the corruption in society was wiped out. Here, Nagant never gets the chance to be hired by All For One and though her opinions are still the same, she is technically on the side of good due to her actions opposing what All For One and Knull want.
* AdaptationalNiceGirl: Canonically, Nagant was much more cynical and miserable, having barely any patience for tomfoolery and people's antics. Here, she is much more upbeat and fun-loving, though still has a low opinion of Hero society.
* AdaptationalWimp: In canon as part of taking All For One's job to capture Midoriya, she was given the Quirk Sky Walk, allowing her to walk on thin air. Here however due to being re-employed by the Commission, Nagant only has the one Quirk.
* ColdSniper: She is Japan's best sniper and a deadly one at that.
* DeadpanSnarker: Has a level of snark that can rival or even surpass Eddie's.
* TheDreaded: The Volcano Thieves are terrified that ''the'' Lady Nagant, Japan's best sniper who acted as the Commission's main enforcer and assassin for years, was sent after them.
* EnemyMine: Forms an alliance with Eddie, Venom and Sleeper to apprehend the Volcano Thieves.
* HiredGuns: Tasked by the Hero Public Safety Commission to assassinate the Volcano Thieves after accepting their offer on getting out of Tartarus.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: She could've easily killed the Volcano Thieves or hit Venom and Sleeper from a couple of kilometers away, but she only wounded Gust Boy and missed Venom and Sleeper on purpose as they were closing in on her location. Volcano even comes to the conclusion that she didn't kill them because they were going to be interrogated first.

* TokenEvilTeammate: Though technically working on the side of good given her mission, Nagant is still a convicted criminal who murdered her superior after a psychotic breakdown and is disillusioned by Heroes because of the corruption in the higher echelons of Hero society.

!!Knull, God of the Symbiotes
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/image_2023_01_04_172208339.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:'''"I am the Living Abyss...I existed before this reality and shall exist long after...I slumbered the colorless void until light invaded my kingdom and drove me out of my rightful place in the never-ending cosmos...I am the Forger of Darkness, the King in Black...I am...Knull..."''']]
* AbusivePrecursors: He treated his creations and progeny, the Klyntar, as nothing more than weapons and parasites to conquer and destroy reality with. It's no wonder that upon bonding with other life forms and growing a conscience that the Symbiotes chose to seal away their master.
* AdaptationalBadass: In the comics, Knull had a counterpart or variant in each of the universes he exists within, therefore making him only on par with Celestials and Cosmic Entities but much weaker than the likes of the Beyonder and Living Tribunal. Here however, Knull is outright stated to be a multiversal entity that is the progenitor of all Symbiotes across each universe, with Sleeper and the Knights of the Cosmos stating that he could destroy the Multiverse if fully released from his prison.
* BigBad: He is the true antagonist of the story, with All For One serving as TheHeavy due to Knull's imprisonment.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: As fitting for someone called the King in Black, Knull is primarily shrouded in darkness within his prison, and his eyes glow a sinister red, reflecting his evil nature.
* DealWithTheDevil: All For One agrees to help set Knull free and become his herald for his war on creation in exchange for hidden knowledge about the Symbiotes, therefore allowing All For One to create an army of Nomu-Symbiote hybrids who will serve as Knull's new army.
* TheDreaded: Everyone who has heard of him or encountered him is terrified by him, even All For One (Who is TheDreaded himself) upon meeting him was overwhelmed by his mere presence and Sleeper and the Knights of the Cosmos were scared enough to immediately propose an alliance with Earth's Heroes.
* GodOfEvil: He's a malevolent Elder God who personifies darkness and the void, seeking to return the Multiverse back to a time before creation and light.
* GreaterScopeVillain: As the creator of all Symbiotes across the Multiverse, Knull is indirectly responsible for every evil and atrocious act they commit due to being specifically made to conquer and devour other life forms. He also saves All For One from All-Might and makes him his herald in exchange for knowledge about the Symbiotes.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Is known by many titles, including King in Black, The Living Abyss, God of the Symbiotes and the Forger of Darkness, all describing how much of a malevolent and nightmarish deity he is.
* OmnicidalManiac: He despises all of creation and life and wishes to return the Multiverse back to when it was a dark and empty abyss, a domain where he reigned supreme as the god of primordial darkness.
* SatanicArchetype: Let's see, ancient evil entity that opposed the forces of light, created a race of monsters who essentially possess and corrupt their victims, is imprisoned by his own allies who could not stomach his evil intentions any longer and makes a deal with a mortal in order to be set free.
* SealedEvilInACan: Knull was imprisoned in a dark space outside of the Multiverse by his own Symbiotes, who no longer wished to follow their creator's omnicidal agenda. All For One, as part of the deal he made with the King in Black, is tasked with freeing him.

[[caption-width-right:200: “That is something you do not yet need to know, but I assure you that if this plan works, then you will have the most powerful army in the world, maybe even beyond…” ]]
* TheAce: Is arguably the most powerful human in the My Hero Academia universe, possessing hundreds of different Quirks he can use that allowed him to dominate the criminal underworld for over a century.
* AdaptationalBadass: Heavily implied. After returning from his meeting with Knull, All For One sports a new suit and has Knull's spiral carved into his head, which may suggest he was given hidden knowledge and power from Knull.
* AdaptationDeviation: All For One was defeated by All-Might during the Kamino incident and imprisoned in Tartarus, only breaking out and becoming a main threat again several story arcs later. Here however, he not only escapes but leaves the world in a worse state than before due to All-Might losing his Quirk and wasting its power on an attack that didn't land. He has now become the herald for Knull, seeking to help his new benefactor escape his imprisonment.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Canonically speaking, All For One is an egotistical and megalomaniacal madman obsessed with becoming the antithesis of good, and though initially him saving and grooming Tomura into becoming a powerful Villain was considered to be a redeeming quality given how fatherly he acts towards the young man. Recent chapters of the manga however show that he only wanted to use Tomura as a vessel due to his current body being scarred and far weaker than in his prime. Here however his fatherly traits seem much more genuine.
* BigBadDuumvirate: Becomes the primary antagonist of the story alongside Knull.
* TheDreaded: As per his status as the unholy king of the criminal underworld, whose mere presence causes people to see their own deaths.
* TheHeavy: Though the true BigBad of the story is Knull, All For One is currently the main physical threat who is plotting to set the King in Black free.

[[caption-width-right:350:"No, the mariachi uniform we got back at our job in Mexico-of course I meant your civilian clothes!"]]
* AdaptationExpansion: Volcano, alongside the other Volcano Thieves, originate from the arcade game ''My Hero Academia: Clash! Heroes Battle'' and due to most of the footage and media associated with them being lost, there isn't much known about the character lore-wise.
His Quirk, Eruption, lets his body produce steaming hot lava by burning through fat though wears special equipment, like miniature shoulder volcanoes and a gauntlet, to regulate his body temperature and protect his skin from burns.
* OnlySaneMan: Zigzagged. As the leader of the Volcano Thieves, he knows when to be productive and to not mess around, and is careful to not draw attention to himself when on the job. However Volcano can lose his temper, be reckless in battle and has fallen for Dusty Ash's seduction a few times.

* AdaptationExpansion: Dusty Ash, alongside the other Volcano Thieves, originate from the arcade game ''My Hero Academia: Clash! Here, they are a group of mercenaries, stated to be one of the best Japan has to offer, serving as antagonists for the ongoing plot to find the Grendel and revive Knull.
She also display good seduction skills, using them to convince Volcano to let them have alcohol with their dinner.
* PungeonMaster: Seems to be fond of making puns, much to Venom's annoyance.
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Is the only female member of the Volcano Thieves.

[[caption-width-right:350:"Is this a joke? We're mercenaries, not larpers!]]
* AdaptationalBadass: According to his bio from the arcade game, Gust Boy can only spin his wrists for one minute at a time, but in the story has shown to be able to use his Quirk for much longer.
* AdaptationExpansion: Gust Boy, alongside the other Volcano Thieves, originate from the arcade game ''My Hero Academia: Clash! Here, they are a group of mercenaries, stated to be one of the best Japan has to offer, serving as antagonists for the ongoing plot to find the Grendel and revive Knull.
* BlowYouAway: His Quirk, Fan, gives him fan blade-like fingers and can spin his wrists with enough force to create powerful gusts of air. However spinning his wrists for prolonged time can cause his wrist joints and muscles to swell and ache.
* CassandraTruth: He is immediately sceptical of All For One's claims about the symbiotes and the Grendel. Justifed however given that the Symbol of Evil didn't exactly give them much proof.
* CloudCuckoolander: Downplayed. Gust Boy can act professional and stay focused when on the job, but when off the job he tends to be the most loud, eccentric and hot-blooded of the group.
* TheDitz: He's most definitely not the smartest member of the Volcano Thieves, with Volcano or Dusty Ash usually coming up with the plans while Gust Boy supports them.
* {{Gonk}}: He is the least attractive member of the Volcano Thieves, however given that all Heteromorphs in the series tend to look less human anyway, he could be considered attractive by their standards.
* HiddenDepths: Though he isn't the smartest guy, he is shown to still be very efficient when on the job. He also can memorise and pronounce Norwegian cuisine.
* HiredGuns: Is a mercenary who is hired by All For One to find the Grendel.
