    In General
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: The whole class is filled with many personalities and despite only being first-years were able hold their own against villains at the USJ. They may be young but show great potential of becoming Pro Heroes.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Aside from Izuku, Ochaco and later Mina; none of the students know of the existence of aliens.
    • Bakugo eventually finds out about aliens when Shigaraki revealed their existence to him in Chapter 84.
    • By Chapter 86, Momo, Tenya, Eijiro, and Shoto have all come to know of the existence of aliens.
  • True Companions: Due to how often they get caught in villain attacks, the students of Class A are tightly knit group. Izuku even sees them as this, finding their company more pleasant than his time spent with Henzu.
    • Even though some of them were unnerved by Izuku's mental breakdown with All Might during their final exams; they assured him they are still friends much to Izuku's joy.

Species: Human
Quirk: Explosion
Izuku's former Childhood Friend and long-time bully. Bakugou has it all: athleticism, great grades, and an extremely powerful Quirk called "Explosion", which lets him turn his sweat into a substance similar to nitroglycerin to create explosions at will. His genius is only matched by his ego and fiery temper, refusing to let anyone else top him as he sets out to become the Number One Hero.
  • Adaptational Name Change: His hero name is Ground Zero instead of Dynamight.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Uses Izuku's "It's Hero Time" with his own addition to it when he activates the Omnitrix for Izuku.
  • Break the Haughty: He goes through a rollercoaster ride; He learns that Izuku has a far more versatile power than he has, he gets bested in the "Heroes vs Villains Test" by Izuku who uses a form that perfectly counters every one of his abilities, discovers that it is Izuku who saved his life, then in the U.A. Sports Festival, not only did Todoroki deems Deku a more Worthy Opponent than him, Bakugo gets knocked out by Uraraka, losing his chance to settle scores with Izuku. He's so distraught that he didn't attend the medal ceremony. What finally seals the deal is witnessing Izuku, as Heatblast, overpowering All Might, forcing him to finally start accepting his new reality and become a better person… for the most part.
  • The Bully: Is a jerk to anyone he sees as below him.
  • Everybody Has Standards: As much as he hates his former friend Izuku, he seems to agree with his mom on how much Hisashi screwed up leaving his family for ten years.
  • Hidden Depths: Has a maid fetish apparently.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Water Hazard uses the same propel method that Bakugo used to defeat him.
  • Hot-Blooded: His default emotion is anger. Unfortunately, this makes him easier to defeat by the more intelligent opponents.
  • It's All About Me: He hates it whenever the spotlight is moved away from him. When Izuku goes on a blind rage in the Final Exam, Bakugou is more upset that the boy is ruining his chances of passing the test rather than concern for Izuku.
  • Oh, Crap!: This is his reaction to fighting Water Hazard whose abilities are a natural counter to him.
  • Secret-Keeper: Learns about Aliens and Izuku's Quirkless in chapter 77.
  • This Cannot Be!: His reaction any time he loses a fight. It got so bad that he didn't participate in the award ceremony of the U.A. Sports Festival.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Played With. He’s still a massive prick, but he has learned to be cooperative with people, such as Izuku and Uraraka, and especially with Kirashima.
  • Too Dumb to Live: You have to be extremely stupid for taunting a mentally unhinged person who has the powers of the hot sun. Regretfully, Bakugou is just that stupid.

    Shoto Todoroki — Shoto

Species: Human
Quirk: Half-Cold, Half-Hot
One of 1-A's two recommended students and the son of the Number Two Hero, Endeavor. His Quirk, "Half-Cold, Half-Hot", lets him emit incredible ice from his right side and searing flames from his left. However, he has vowed to never use his flames as a form of rebellion against his father, who raised him for the sole purpose of surpassing All Might.
  • Abusive Parents: His father puts him in Training from Hell to make him powerful enough to surpass All Might.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Being on the receiving end of this by both Big Chill and Heatblast.
  • Hilariously Wrong: He believes that Izuku is a government experiment and Uraraka is All Might's love child due to their powers.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: He does not know about Aliens but does come to suspect something is off about Izuku and his Quirk. He eventually comes to know of the true origins of Izuku's powers, his Quirkless status, as well as the existence of aliens.
  • Secret-Keeper: He later finds out about the existence of aliens by Chapter 79 and that Izuku's Quirkless.
  • Spotting the Thread: Is quick to see that there is more to Izuku and the Omnitrix than meets the eye, due to SixSix and Tetrax both trying to take it and how Izuku's upgrade looks exactly same as Malware minus a color swap.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Mellowed out a lot after the Sports Festival and became friendlier to his classmates. Most noticeably with Izuku shown by him having a friendly chat with him when they see each other in Hosu and showing concern towards his change in behavior around Hisashi.
  • Underestimating Badassery: During the Final exams, Shoto was confident that he and Shinso can take down Thirteen easily under the belief that since she's a rescue hero; combat isn't her expertise. However, he didn't know that as a Plumber, Thirteen has plenty of close combat experience and with a combination of that, her Quirk, and assistance from One-One; she was easily able to take them on without much effort.
  • Worthy Opponent: When Izuku transforms into Heatblast, Todoroki reacts in awe and amazement at seeing the fire-based alien.

  • Lame Pun Reaction: This is her answer to all of Izuku's puns; which stems from her grandfather, Hop Pop.
  • Nice Girl: Despite her blunt nature, Tsu wishes to be closer to her friends and prefers to be on a first-name basis with them. She's also one of the few students who assured a depressed Izuku that they weren't afraid of him after witnessing his mental breakdown during his final exam against All Might and that he's just human like them.

  • Combat Pragmatist: Has no problem playing dirty or tricking friends to win a competition.
  • Commonality Connection: He and Izuku bond over their shared mistreatment because of their powers or lack thereof.
    • They also seem to share a love of puns, to Tsu's annoyance.

    • He joins 1-A after the Stain arc becoming involved in all events that follow it.
    • He joins Shoto and Momo's team for the final exams.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: To Shinso's happiness, Class 1-A and the Pro Heroes fully support his Quirk and are upset that U.A. could dismiss that ability.

  • Kick The Son Of A Bitch: No one in 1-A is against Shinso using his Quirk on Mineta after he attempted to peep on the girls.

Species: Human half-Emotlyst
Quirk: Acid
Behind an alien-like appearance lies an emotional and excitable girl who can produce corrosive liquid through her skin thanks to her Quirk, "Acid": she can manipulate the pH and viscosity of the fluid, but going too far can damage her skin. Turns out she's also a human/alien hybrid, specifically, of an Emotlyst from the planet Nirvana Motus; shortly after learning this she joins Izuku and Ochaco as a Plumber cadet.
  • Acid Attack: Her Quirk. She can control the pH and viscosity of the fluid she secretes from her skin, meaning it can be highly acidic and thick or barely acidic and slippery.

  • Adaptational Species Change: In canon, she's a Cute Monster Girl but is still human. Here, she's half-alien.

  • The Empath: As a half-Emotlyst, Mina's antenna can emit her own emotions onto others, though her powers haven't fully developed yet.
  • Foreshadowing: Her horns twitch while she's shown to sense what other people are feeling when their emotions are running high, foreshadowing her half-Emotlyst nature.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Chapter 46 reveals that she's half-alien, a fact she did not know until then.
  • Heroes Love Dogs: She's the one to name Wildmutt and she happily pets and makes a fuss of him after the Vulpemancer gets them and Koda a win in a survival exercise. She also has a dog at home and she was pretty happy to see Izuku transform into Wildmutt again in Chapter 47.
  • Horned Humanoid: She has a small pair of yellow horns. They twitch whenever her emote powers are in use.
  • It's All My Fault: After the events of the forest camp, Mina tearfully breaks down to everyone that it's her fault that Izuku and Bakugo got captured.
  • Living Lie Detector:Chapter 57 reveals that she can sense when someone is lying thanks to her Emotlyst empathy powers.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Mina used her emote abilities to attract Fun Gus's attention allowing both Aizawa and Shinso to apprehend the villain. Unfortunately, her friends were using Fun Gus's large size as a cover to escape from the Vanguard Action Squad and with their cover gone, the villains were able to capture Bakugo and Izuku.
  • Secret-Keeper: In addition to finding out about her alien heritage, Mina learns about the existence of aliens, the true nature of the Omnitrix, and Izuku being Quirkless; she even becomes a Plumber cadet alongside Deku and Ochaco.

Despite her versatile Quirk and considerable intelligence, she struggles with low self-esteem due to the high expectations put upon her.
  • The Ace: One of four students recommended to enroll in U.A. without having to pass the entrance exams, the others being Todoroki, Tokage, and Honenuki. She comes from a patrician family and is pretty and intelligent.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Has an expanded role in the Training Camp Arc, in which she joins Awase, Kuroiro and Kraab to destroy a jamming device that's preventing them from calling for help.
  • Covert Pervert: Gets a Nosebleed along with Ochaco when they both see how handsome Shoto looks in his disguise during the Kamino arc.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Momo manages to create a sword, the Zircon Blade, with the same abilities as Diamondhead that turns the tide in her, Shoto and Shinso's exam against Thirteen, unfortunately, it uses so much of her body fat and nutrients that it could kill her if overused.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: The top of her hero costume is a shirt with a cut low enough to reach her midriff.
  • Secret-Keeper: By Chapter 79, she learns of the existence of aliens and Izuku's Quirkless.

Species: Human
Quirk: Earphone Jack

She is a talented musician and is especially fond of rock music.
  • Action Girl: She can unleash powerful sound waves by plugging her earphone jacks into the speakers built into her boots.
  • A-Cup Angst: Kyoka got flustered in the changing room when Mina and Toru began to cheer on how a woman should be proud of one's body and should never be afraid to show it, causing her to hide her chest with her jacket in embarrassment. She comically fell into despair when she noticed how big Momo's assets where.
  • Bizarre Human Biology: Similar to Iida and his leg mufflers, Jiro has actual earphone jacks as part of her body, which she inherited from her mother. She can even plug them into her cellphone and listen to music.
  • A Day In The Lime Light: She takes center stage alongside Denki in Chapter 53.
  • Didn't Think This Through: She jabs S.A.M's eye causing the villain to let go of her and Kaminari...while they are in the air.
  • For Want Of A Nail: She joins Izuku's team for the cavalry battle.
  • Pet the Dog: She decided to join Izuku's team after learning how hard his life was before UA, wanting to help him prove everyone wrong. Though, she admits him having a plan also helped.

  • Agent Peacock: He loves to pose and is prone to flamboyant behavior.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: His Quirk can fire powerful laser beams, but firing it hurts him.
  • For Want Of A Nail:
    • Wasn't brainwashed by Shinso for the cavalry battle.
    • Was partnered with Ashido and Kaminari against Principal Nezu instead of with Uraraka against Thirteen like in canon.
    • Actually, failed his final exam and took extra lessons at camp, this also means Shinso takes his place as Momo's partner for the test of courage.
  • Power Incontinence: He needs a special belt to contain the "leaking" of his Quirk.

Species: Human
Quirk: Electrification
Energetic, somewhat dim-witted, and slightly perverted, he wields the Quirk "Electrification", which lets him emit high amounts of electricity near him, but he can barely wield it properly, and going over his limit backfires on him by temporarily rendering him an idiot.
  • A Day In The Lime Light: He takes center stage alongside Kyoka in Chapter 53.
  • Elemental Hair Colors: Blond-haired and lightning-focused.
  • Heroic Lineage: His mother is the Voltage Heroine: Thundershock.
  • Meaningful Name: His first name means "electricity" and his last name means "lightning".
  • Running Gag: For some reason, Ghostfreak loves terrifying him. The spectre like being even went out of his way to target him in a four on one training match.
  • Ship Tease: He has this with Jiro at Chapter 53.
  • Shock and Awe: His Quirk lets him emit intense amounts of electricity, but he can't control where it goes, it's mostly limited to an area around him, and his brain is short-circuited if he goes overboard.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Participates in the plan that accidentally almost kills Midoriya; and awakens something that will truly give him nightmares.

Sturdy Hero

Species: Human
Quirk: Hardening
Class 1-A's friendliest and most Hot-Blooded member, he is always working to become 'manlier' and a better hero. His Quirk, "Hardening", allows him to make his body more resistant to any type of attack.
  • Boring, but Practical: His Quirk just makes his skin incredibly hard and resistant, but given that Hero fights tend to get close and personal, it is very useful.
  • Fiery Redhead: A redhead who is one of the most excitable members of the class.
  • Friendly Rivalry: With Tetsutetsu.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Much like Midoriya was initially for All Might and Tenya is for the previous Ingenium, Eijiro also greatly admires and styled himself after a Pro, The Chivalrous Hero Crimson Riot.
  • Instant Armor: His Quirk does this to his body.
  • Nice Guy: He is friendly to everyone, even Bakugou, who constantly blows him off.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: Given his ability to harden his body, it's very hard to land an actual blow on him. He's virtually bulletproof and can't be harmed by bladed weapons either in his hardened form.
  • Personality Powers: His Quirk complements his adamant personality well.
  • Running Gag: All the similarities he has to Tetsutetsu. Examples include Quirk, birthday, personality, internship, costume, etc.
  • Secret-Keeper: By Chapter 79, he learns of the existence of aliens and Izuku's Quirkless.

Martial Arts Hero

Species: Human
Quirk: Tail
A discreet yet determined student whose Quirk, "Tail", manifests as a thick, prehensile tail which he can use as a third limb. He is also skilled at martial arts and has a deep sense of honor, but often struggles to stand out among his classmates, a fact he's himself is very aware of.
  • Animal Motifs: Monkeys, due to a mix of his tail and martial arts prowess.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Unlike others whose fighting styles are based entirely on their Quirks, Ojiro fights using martial arts in combination with his tail for fast and acrobatic moves.
  • Boring, but Practical: His Quirk is as simple as it gets, a sturdy tail that can be used for attacking, movement or as a third arm. Very useful, but not exactly flashy.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Wasn't brainwashed by Shinso in the cavarly battle here.
  • Fights Like a Normal: Downplayed. A tail is not at all normal on the modern-day human, but he learned martial arts to supplement his tail as a weapon.
  • Humble Hero: He's very self-aware and he knows that he's not the flashiest student around but he's making the best of what he has.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: He's occasionally shown playing the Savvy Guy to Hagakure's Energetic Girl.

Species: Human
Quirk: Tape
A cheery guy whose Quirk, "Tape", allows him to produce reams of an ultra-strong tape-like material from protrusions on his elbows.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: His hair looks like the jagged edge of a torn piece of tape.
  • Demoted to Extra: He isn't recruited by Bakugou in the Cavalry Battle and thus does not advance to the third round.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Despite his cheerful disposition, he's also notable for having some very snarky lines.
Sero (To Bakugo about being class rep): What? Did you honestly think anyone was gonna vote for you?
  • Duct Tape for Everything: His Quirk is this. He can use it to swing around Spiderman-style, trap enemies with it, and many other possibilities.
  • Keet: He's loud and show-offy and is quite easily one of the most energetic and fun-loving people in the class.
  • Perpetual Smiler: He's never not seen with an angular, toothy smile most of the time.
  • Personality Powers: He is very social, friendly, and outgoing. In other words, he likes to "stick" to people.
  • Punny Name: "Serohantepu" is the Japanese way to pronounce "cellophane tape".

Jet-Black Hero

Species: Human
Quirk: Dark Shadow
Class 1-A's resident Chuunibyou, his head makes him look like a raven. His Quirk, "Dark Shadow", manifests as a shadowy monster that inhabits his body, and which he can summon to fight on his behalf.
  • Adaptational Badass: To a certain extent, he learns his Supermoves "Ragnorock" and "Ragnorock: Womb" much earlier against the villain Ragnorock. In canon, Fumikage only learns the former move in the Paranormal Liberation War and the latter when Class 1-A fought Deku.
  • Animal Motifs: Unsurprisingly, he's associated with birds.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: And thank goodness for that. Tokoyami would be a major villainous threat with his Quirk at night if he weren't aspiring to be a hero.
  • Badass Arm-Fold: This is pretty much his default posture.
  • Cold Ham: He constantly tries to invoke this. When he speaks, expect Tokoyami to say something overly dramatic about the current situation:
Tokoyami: (talking to others about Izuku's outburst in the Practical Exam) Often the gentlest and calmest of us hide away their darkest of selves.
  • Chuunibyou: He usually speaks in antiquated speech patterns.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: His Quirk is a living shadow and he looks like a blackbird, but he is definitely on the side of good.
  • For Want Of A Nail: He does not join Izuku's team during the cavalry battle.
  • Heroic Lineage: His mother is an inspector for the Tokyo PD.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Doesn’t know about Aliens or Plumbers but that doesn’t stop him from helping him friend in assisting Lucy Mann.
  • Long-Range Fighter: He is great at keeping enemies away from him but has trouble if the enemy manages to close in through dodging or numbers.
  • Man of Kryptonite: Dark Shadow can actually touch Ghostfreak when the Ectonurite is intangible. Which is learned when the shadow beast punches him in the face after he boasted about how no one could touch him.
  • Meaningful Name: His first name roughly translates to "Unsavory Shadow" while his last name literally means "Eternal Darkness", both emphasizing the power and hard-to-control nature of his darkness-related Quirk.
  • Multiform Balance: Depending of the surrounding light conditions, he has to sacrifice either the strength of his Quirk or his control over it. In bright light, his Dark Shadow is docile but also very weak and timid. In darkness, it's stronger but also harder to control as well. Later, he develops a technique of shrouding himself in Dark Shadow as a close-range option, trading range for improved defense.
  • Non-Human Head: His head is bird-like in appearance, but everything else from the neck down is human. He also wears a red choker at all times, which hides his human neck to emphasize his bird head.
  • Not So Above It All: He's a Tokyo Ghoul fan and actually panics when his mom threatens to confiscate his manga.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Participates in the plan that accidentally almost kills Midoriya; and awakens something that truly revels in the dark.

Species: Human
Quirk: Sugar Rush
A tall and strong-built student who can bake some mean desserts. His Quirk, "Sugar Rush", greatly increases his physical strength and muscle mass through an intake of sugar. However, his brain activity slows down the more sugar he consumes, making him doped up and sleepy if he overdoses.
  • The Big Guy: Sato towers over most of his fellow pupils, except for Shoji, and he is built like a weightlifter, even by the standards of the rest of class 1-A where all the boys, bar Mineta, have a Heroic Build. Doubly so when his quirk is in action.
  • Close-Range Combatant: His Quirk makes him a very efficient brawler and wrestler but he's rather disadvantaged against long range attacks.
  • Dumb Muscle: Invoked. While his Quirk allows him to become stronger, it gradually makes him dumber as well.
  • Gag Lips: His lips resemble nothing so much as a frosted donut.
  • Hour of Power: The boost of strength he gets from ingesting sugar only lasts three minutes.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: When in Super Mode, he can produce a barrage of powerful punches.

A bubbly and cheerful girl whose Quirk, "Invisibility", renders her entire body permanently invisible. She is usually seen as a set of seemingly floating clothes — or in the case of her hero costume, just a pair of floating gloves and shoes. Because of this, she often jokes about her condition and can get away with states of undress no visible human could dream of trying in public.
  • Battle Strip: When fully nude, she can make the best use of her Quirk.
  • Genki Girl: She's cheerful, bubbly, and when the girls find out that they were tricked into doing the whole cheerleader thing, she insists on doing the cheering regardless.
  • Invisibility: Her Quirk.
  • Invisible Streaker: Her hero costume consists of a pair of gloves and shoes.
  • The Gloves Come Off: When Hagakure wants to get serious with her use of invisibility, she takes off the gloves and shoes as part of her very sparse costume, rendering her fully invisible.
  • Logical Weakness: Just because no one can see her, doesn't mean they can't hear nor smell her. She finds out the hard way when she encounters Wildmutt who has super senses that he uses to track her.

Species: Human
Quirk: Pop Off
1-A's most perverted student and resident Butt-Monkey, he manages to get into the Hero Course thanks to his ability to creatively use his Quirk, "Pop Off", which lets him rip the highly adhesive balls that make his hair and use them in different situations, although overdoing this will cause him to start bleeding.
  • Blessed with Suck: How he views his own Quirk.
  • Boring, but Practical: What his Quirk really falls under into. Case in point, he still managed to pass the entrance exam by trapping the robots with his balls, immobilizing them, which still counted as points. It's not flashy by any means, but they're definitely useful as traps. Too bad he's still too much of a Cowardly Lion to realize his potential.
  • Casanova Wannabe: He fiends for anything with a remotely sexy figure, though as a result he doesn't have any female friends, besides perhaps Tsuyu who seems to stick around him to try and stop his lecherous tendencies.
  • Cowardly Lion: He's the first to run away from battle, but push him into a corner and he'll give everything he's got to beat you.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The lower half of his hero costume is meant to resemble a bowl, though it unfortunately looks like a reinforced diaper.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Outside of Bakugo, Mineta is probably the Class 1-A student that gets this the most, mostly due to his perverted personality. He is still good friends with Midoriya and Kaminari, at least.
  • Hormone-Addled Teenager: Mineta is nothing but a bag of raging sexual hormones craving for satisfaction. He's rarely afraid to admit it:
Tsuyu: Mineta, are you thinking of something perverted?
    Mineta: Possibly?
  • I Just Want to Be Badass: Overall, this is the goal he is pursuing as a hero (that and feeling up a woman, and as his final exam reveals, the former is almost entirely in service of the latter).
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Mineta may be a huge sleaze but he does demonstrate loyalty to his classmates. To complete the final exams, all he has to do is pass through the escape gate after incapacitating Midnight, but he took the time to drag his unconscious partner Sero with him.
  • Required Secondary Powers: He can make himself immune to the sticky part of his balls.
