Karl: Attention, everybody!
Sapnap: We are Kinoko Kingdom!
A mushroom-themed settlement Karl made south of spawn after the events of the Tales from the SMP episode "The Masquerade". Its formation led to the disbandment of El Rapids, and all its citizens are former members.
  • Actual Pacifist: Kinoko Kingdom is the only present-day country that hasn't been involved in major conflicts so far. Even though the place has a military headquarters, and Sapnap is the Head of Military there, they still haven't made use of the building much.
  • Alliterative Name: Kinoko Kingdom.
  • Dramatic Irony: The entwined story of Kinoko Kingdom and Las Nevadas is best summed up as this, combined with a hefty dose of Poor Communication Kills. After El Rapids declared independence, Quackity, the country's President, decided to focus more on L'Manburgian politics throughout the rest of Season 2 and set off on his own to start construction on Las Nevadas to back up the country (and so that the fiancés could get hitched), leading him to seemingly abandon El Rapids without telling everyone else why he did so. This caused the country to become "stagnant", and Karl, Sapnap, and George decided to dissolve El Rapids to create Kinoko Kingdom (though this is also fueled by Karl being urged to move his library after "The Masquerade" to keep it out of the Blood Vines' reach). Though they intended to invite Quackity to the country, Karl, the one who was tasked with this, forgot due to his time-travelling–induced amnesia, and when George finally told Quackity about the country, it drove him down a spiral, believing everyone else to have abandoned him. When Sapnap finally sought Quackity out and actually talked and brought him to visit Kinoko, Quackity did acknowledge the miscommunication... only that Karl never told anyone about his memory issues, which had worsened tenfold in the meantime (so much that he forgot what Quackity ment to him), and Quackity himself started lashing out in response because he never confided in anyone about his own issues (i.e. copious amounts of trauma), to the point the two had a whole Second-Act Breakup and pretty much placed restraining orders against each other.
  • Meaningful Name: "Kinoko" is the Japanese word for "mushroom", which the faction is themed around.
  • Mushroom Samba: According to Sapnap, "shrooms" are grown in Kinoko Kingdom, and when someone consumes them, they "see things that aren't actually there", though he later denies that they are using those mushrooms to get high.
  • Nature Lover: The one rule of the faction is to not pick flowers, and when one does, they would have to place them back.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Despite being called a "kingdom", it does not have a monarchy.
  • Secret Room: Karl's library, where he keeps track of his secret adventures through time, has been relocated here.
  • Superior Successor: To El Rapids, which was dissolved by the founding members of Kinoko because it had become "stagnant" and little work had been done to improve the country after its independence.

In-game name: KarlJacobs
Preferred name: Karl
"I need to keep this quiet. I can't tell anyone what happens, or how I know these stories... But I can try to do my part to steer this world in the correct direction."
Karl joined around the Election, and went on to found Rutabagville with Sapnap before joining Manberg (though he now denies this) and got named Creative Director of New L'Manberg, before getting angry about being left out of cabinet meetings and joined up with El Rapids, sacrificing one of his lives for it. During this time, he got into a polyamorous relationship with Sapnap and Quackity.

Karl is a time traveler, who jumps around the timeline in order to document events as they happen. He tends to disappear and reappear at random as he travels, and has a secret room where he stores all the stories he's collected from the past and future of the SMP. His travels are documented in the spin-off series "Tales from the SMP". For tropes pertaining to the roles he played during individual episodes of the SMP, see here.

However, his time travelling has a downside, as the more he travels, the less he remembers and the more he loses his sense of self. Karl realizes the effect it's having on him, but nonetheless keeps traveling, in an attempt to right the wrongs that have been committed on the SMP, this lead to him getting Sapnap and George to help him move his library to a safe location, and ended up founding Kinoko Kingdom in the process. Unfortunately, his memory issues start to cause a lot of friction with his loved ones, with Quackity in particular.

Karl has two lives left. He lost his first life in an explosion set up by El Rapids to frame Eret.
  • Accidental Time Travel: While he has time-travelling powers, he cannot control when his powers activate.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: His old skin was a rather trippy combination of bright and vibrant colors. His new skin still has a lot of colors, but now they're less saturated.
  • Ambiguously Human: He was once claimed to be an "interdimensional being" who chooses to look like a human, but the audience is never given further clues on what species he actually is. His true form is implied to be the strange, colourful blob that was his old skin.
  • Amnesiac Lover: Karl has lost his memories of one of his fiancés, Quackity (other than his own death in the El Rapids protest for independence), but in their confrontation where Quackity found out about his memory loss, Quackity ends up lashing out at Karl in return due to a perceived confirmation towards his own insecurities.
  • Animal Motifs: A minor one, but Karl sometimes wears a frog hoodie and is drawn as a frog on at least one Kinoko Kingdom promotional poster.
  • Arc Words: "Don't forget who you are" and any variations of it, especially for Tales from the SMP.
  • Awesome Anachronistic Apparel: Zig-zagged depending on the time period he travels to, but whenever Karl appears as himself in the past or future, he is almost always shown wearing his usual clothes — a hoodie, trousers, and boots.
  • Blessed with Suck: Karl is a time traveler, and it's implied he's done a lot of work behind the scenes to stop events on the SMP from getting even worse, but it's also slowly causing him to lose his memory and sense of self. The episode "The Masquerade" of Tales mitigates this somewhat when a book in The Inbetween claims that it is possible for Karl to learn how to prevent losing memories every time he travels... although the same book also reveals that he has no control over when, where, and how long he travels, and he probably never will have full control over his powers. There's also no telling how much he can trust The Inbetween, which is later revealed in "The Pit" to be a trap. Ultimately Played for Drama when the power-induced memory/identity loss, combined with Poor Communication Kills, end up causing his relationships to fracture heavily.
  • The Chosen One: Karl was given the ability to time travel by DreamXD after he "got rid of" the last one when they forgot they were a time traveler. Unfortunately, there seem to be more drawbacks then positives to these powers.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Karl has made some comments that are highly unusual both in and out of context, such as making the national animal of Rutabagville the bagel when trying to introduce it to the Badlands.
  • Les Collaborateurs: Just before the Manburg-Pogtopia War, Karl sells out his country, Rutabagville, to join Manburg. Niki is understandably upset by his decision.
  • Color Motif: Though Karl is associated with multicoloured combinations in general, the most common one is purple and green, the combination on his main hoodie.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Karl's first death was from "hit[ting] the ground too hard" in an explosion... one that was planned by his own side to frame Eret as a war-mongerer and help El Rapids seize independence, but it's later implied in his Second-Act Breakup with Quackity in the penultimate Season 3 stream that it could have been more painful/traumatic that one would have thought initially.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: He did not take being left out of the New L'Manberg cabinet meeting concerning Dream's walls and Tommy's position very well. Openly complaining to George about how he doesn't feel respected by Tubbo and the other government officials, it bothers him enough to encourage George to attack the L'Mantree and later drown himself in sorrow several times.
  • Field Trip to the Past: Tales from the SMP reveals that Karl is capable of time travel, and that he uses his powers to write down the 'tales' he witnesses.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: Played for Laughs. Karl will openly claim to be loyal to a side if it benefits him or if they're winning even if he was blatantly against them moments ago.
  • Hero of Another Story: According to Tommy, Karl isn't seen on the SMP very often anymore, which is likely an allusion to the Spin-Off Tales from the SMP as Karl travels through time to learn about the past and future of the server.
  • Hidden Depths: Karl's outward personality is very cheerful and carefree, often spending his time messing around and making bright builds. However, Karl's secret journals show that he cares intensely for everyone on the server and desperately wants to use the knowledge he gains from his travels to help them one day live in peace. The normally nonchalant Karl takes his newfound role as a time traveler very seriously and refuses to tell even his closest friends of his journeys to keep them safe, despite the ill effect it's having on his memory.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: His reason for siding with Schlatt during the Manburg-Pogtopia War was because he wanted to be recognized. This later continues to be a motivation for Karl even throughout his own arc in Tales — the Other Side encouraged him to flee the Inbetween while telling him, "For your friends, protect your stories," and in the Season 2 trailer, he says this outright:
"I just don't want to lose my friends..."
  • Inconsistent Coloring: On his regular Minecraft skin, Karl has light brown eyes, but in the Tales From the SMP animated intro, he has Supernatural Gold Eyes. It is later stated that Karl has naturally golden eyes, and his Minecraft skin is eventually amended to reflect this.
  • Interactive Narrator: This is his role during Tales from the SMP streams, or at least, the first few.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: He's the owner of Rutabaga and named the former faction he created, Rutabagville, after her. He is also very friendly and cares greatly for his servermates, even if he doesn't show it much in the main series.
  • Loss of Identity: It's slowly happening to Karl as a consequence of his time travel powers.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • When George and Sapnap visited The Egg, Karl suddenly became very serious. He became very quiet and took the whole situation very seriously, urging the others to be careful and leaving when he almost fell on The Egg. Karl's sudden shift in behavior makes sense considering what he witnessed during the episode "The Masquerade" during Tales.
    • At first, when Quackity visits Kinoko in "Las Nevadas" Episode 4, Karl is oddly distant to his fiancé and later gets uncharacteristically aggressive during their argument, showing just how badly mangled his memories of his fiancé have become after time travelling for so long.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Karl forgetting to invite his fiancé Quackity to Kinoko Kingdom ends up being the last straw for Quackity, which convinced him that everyone had abandoned him, and this ends up having huge ramifications on his views and actions on the SMP. However, one cannot blame Karl for having memory problems in the first place, as they are a side effect of his time-travelling Power Incontinence, and in truth, no one is in the wrong in the situation.
  • Power at a Price: The ability to travel through time, which can be used to change the course of the SMP's history for better or worse... at the price of his memories and when taken to extreme levels, his identity.
  • Power Incontinence: Karl can travel through time, but he can't choose when he travels, what time and place he ends up in, or how long he stays there. The Inbetween has claimed that it can help him hone his ability to control when and how he travels, but whether that is true is yet to be seen.
  • Screw Destiny: In the Tales episode "The Pit", he avoids sharing the Fate Worse than Death with the alternate versions of himself by escaping to the Other Side instead of remaining in the Inbetween.
  • Second Love: He, along with Sapnap, are Quackity's jointly second long-term partners, though it should be noted that Karl's relationship history has been a little complicated, to say the least.
  • Self-Sacrifice Scheme: He agreed to participate in a scheme of Quackity's in which he would be blown up in an attempt to frame Eret for murder, the ultimate goal of which being to win independence for El Rapids. Glossed over somewhat, as it was his first canon life, so he wasn't Killed Off for Real. However, the glossing over receives a Cerebus Retcon in Quackity's fourth "Las Nevadas" stream, where Karl had presumably lost most of his memories of Quackity and only 'remembered' that Quackity murdered him (which is not the case, as stated above).
  • Serial Spouse: Was engaged to both Eret and Quackity (though this is later declared dubiously canon) before finally settling down with Sapnap. He later on included Quackity back in the relationship, causing it to become polyamorous.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: His initial motivation to keep time traveling, despite the detrimental effects. Karl feels like he has a responsibility to use his powers for good, in order to fix all of the bad things that have happened on the SMP. His motivation later shifts a little towards helping his friends and loved ones.
  • Stealing the Credit: He has claimed to have built several buildings and landmarks, including ones that were erected before he even joined the server. That being said, he is an enthusiastic builder and has genuinely created a lot of structures.
  • The Stool Pigeon: During the Manburg-Pogtopia War, Karl overheard Eret's conversation with Tubbo and Quackity where they stated that they would aid Pogtopia against Dream's wishes. Karl then relayed the information to Dream, which led to Dream dethroning Eret.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Karl is an Ambiguously Human time traveller who has golden eyes.
  • Take a Third Option:
    • Much like the members of the Badlands before him, Karl decided to create his own nation called Rutabagville. However, he was only able to convince Sapnap to join as the other people he wanted to recruit already had their loyalties to other factions. Eventually, the territory became part of Manberg when Karl and Sapnap agreed to help Schlatt in the Manberg-Pogtopia War. After the war, it became part of New L'Manberg's territory.
    • He did this again when he established Kinoko Kingdom, although this time his primary motive was to make a place to move his library at the behest of The Inbetween to keep the tales he's documented safe and away from the Blood Vines.
  • Temporal Sickness: Every time he travels through time, he loses part of his memory. It's not directly fatal, but it has had a severe impact on his interpersonal relationships (or at least one of them), and it's implied that the server god who granted him these abilities in the first place will have him killed once his mind has deteriorated too much from the time travel, as it's occurred to his unnamed predecessor.
  • Tragic Time Traveler: He can travel through time, but not only has he no control over when it happens or where/when he goes, but every time it happens his memories deteriorate, which leads into some serious Poor Communication Kills with one of his fiancés. To add insult to injury, the god who gave him his powers in the first place implies he'll kill him once his memories deteriorate to the point he can't time travel anymore; given the abrupt ending of the series as a whole, it's likely that Karl's fate will never be confirmed.
  • Troll: Karl has a very chaotic streak and really enjoys annoying fellow SMP members, Tommy in particular. He also tries to play up the rivalry between Techno and Dream far more than either of them wants.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: A moment of forgetfulness on Karl's part ended up triggering his fiancé's spiral and the rise of Las Nevadas.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Gender Inverted. When Bad tried to lure Quackity to be corrupted by the Egg, Karl helped him escape, hit Bad with a stick for trying to lure Quackity in, and later passed Bad a diamond renamed with the message "Stay Away From Q".

    GeorgeNotFound
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/georgenotfound_skin.png
In-game name: GeorgeNotFound
Preferred name: George
One of Dream's closest friends and one of the eight original members of the SMP. He's known for his color-blindness and for never showing up to plot-relevant episodes. He infiltrated the Manburg government as a member of Jschlatt's cabinet before returning to the Dream SMP proper, where Dream appointed him king. However, despite his title, it was clear that he held no power and was instead a Puppet King, with Dream being the one calling the shots. When George started acting less neutral than desired, Dream dethroned him as king, claiming to do so for his safety. This ends up severely fracturing their friendship. George was offered the posistion of Vice President of El Rapids from Quackity, and eventually moves on to co-found Kinoko Kingdom with Karl and Sapnap. He is married to Ninja.

George has three lives left.
  • Asleep for Days: He was put to sleep for days at a time by the enchantment on his father's sword, which caused him to miss out on several vital plot events.
  • The Bus Came Back: Months after George was Demoted to Extra since his role as The Dragon during the L'Manburg War of Independence, he returned to the story in a late March stream several months later that delved into his parentage and his relationship with DreamXD.
  • Citizenship Marriage: A variant. Tommy negotiates a deal for a marriage between Ninja and George in exchange for prolonging his own Visa to Manburg.
  • Clueless Boss: George was named king after Dream dethroned Eret for choosing to aid the Pogtopians during the war against Manberg. The fact that George didn't even know that there was a war and spent almost the whole time building a house says all you need to know.
  • Color Blind Confusion: George has severe protanomaly (a type of red-green colour-blindness) in real life, a trait which is carried over to his character on the SMP. At one point, Dream also challenged him to get rainbow-coloured dyes in 15 minutes.
  • Cool Shades: He wears a pair of "clout goggles", regardless of the time of day.
  • Demoted to Extra: Running Gag. After being The Dragon to Dream during the L'Manburg War of Independence, in contrast to the other members of the Dream Team, George's importance in the plot drops significantly, becoming absent to all of the major events on the server for the next several months — he slept through both the Presidential Debate and the Manburg Festival; during the final battle between Pogtopia and Manburg, he was away from the action, building a house; during the Doomsday War and the Disc Confrontation, he just chose not to show up. This is at least partially explained in Quackity's "George Lore" stream, where it is revealed that George didn't show up to the elections because he was terribly wounded and had to rest; and the reason he was absent from so many plot-relevant events is supposedly because his father, Lore Man, had a sword which put anyone it struck to sleep for days at a time. This trope is finally averted when he appears during the Red Banquet stream, after approximately six months of continuously not showing up to plot-relevant events.
  • The Dragon: To Dream during the L'Manburg independence arc and to Quackity later on during the run-up to the election, which saw Quackity himself becoming The Dragon to Schlatt.
  • Dream Sue: He was asleep and dreaming for a majority of his January 27th, 2022 stream, during which he became this trope. To sum it up: in the dream, he killed Dream and Techno in a 2v1 fight, killed several of the server's pets (including Shroud, Steve, Edward, Carl, and a good chunk of Techno's dog army) destroyed a large chunk of the server (killing Quackity, Karl, and Callahan — the last one multiple times — along the way), traveled to a stronghold, killed DreamXD himself, went to the End, and apparently killed the dragon (with the End Crystals being destroyed already to make it easier).
  • Fingerless Hands: He claims to have no fingers.
  • Given Name Reveal: Inverted. During a lucid dream in a lore stream, George's surname is revealed to be, supposedly, 'Lore'.
  • In-Series Nickname: He has been referred to as "Gogy" by several people.
  • Ironic Name: His family name is supposedly 'Lore', a term which means "plot", "plot-relevant", or "backstory" on the SMP. However, George had an unfortunate habit of never showing up to plot-relevant events, which his father calls him out on.
  • Meaningful Name: Unintended example, but isn't it quite fitting that the guy who literally has 'Not Found' as part of his username never does show up for lore streams to the point his absence is a Running Gag?
  • Professional Killer: He claims that he is a trained assassin after one-shotting Punz with a bow on Schlatt's orders.
  • Puppet King: He was, for a time, the official king of the Dream SMP, having been promoted by Dream at the end of the L'Manburg Civil War. However, he's got next-to-no interest in ruling or politics, and holds little power. It's clear as day that it's really Dream calling the shots in the Dream SMP, and that George's title is in name only.
  • Running Gag: George's constant failure to show up for the plot has become a meme both in- and out-of-universe.
  • Sketchy Successor: George becomes this after Eret was briefly dethroned by Dream. His reign is wildly unpopular; many people consider him a weak ruler for his blind obedience to Dream and for him not performing his duties as King. Even Dream realized this and decided to dethrone George and reinstate Eret back on the throne.
  • Third Wheel: Or more accurately, fourth wheel; among the main members of El Rapids, George stands out as a contrast to Karl, Sapnap, and Quackity, who were in a polyamorous relationship with each other.
  • Thought They Knew Already: Type 3 occurs when Quackity meets up outside of Pandora's Vault. When Quackity tells George about the country he was building for them, the (former) members of El Rapids, George asks him, "What about Kinoko Kingdom?" It turns out that Karl forgot to tell Quackity about the new country but told Sapnap and George that he did tell, and they just assumed Quackity never showed up. Instead, Quackity had no idea that his fiancés and brother-figure had built their own country and left El Rapids, and quickly came to the "conclusion" that they had abandoned him... and immediately started spiralling after that.
  • Underdressed for the Occasion: He showed up for the Red Banquet wearing his usual outfit with a new T-shirt, contrasting everyone else's fancy suits and gowns. This is lampshaded by several people, including Puffy, who commented that George was "clearly dressed for the occasion".
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom:
  • What, Exactly, Is His Job?: Unlike his role in the Dream SMP (The Dragon to Dream as well as heir to the throne), George's actual role in the Manburg government following the election is a bit hazy. Some identify him and Quackity as co-vice presidents, whole others identify George as being lower rank than Quackity. Following Quackity's defection from Manburg, it could be assumed that George would truly be vice president in his place.
  • While Rome Burns: While the Manberg-Pogtopia War was raging on, George spent his time making a Hobbit house while his stream chat screamed, begging for him to join the fight.

    Sapnap
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sapnapupdatedskinresize.png
Click here to see his Dreamon Hunter skin
In-game name: Sapnap
Preferred name: Sapnap
One of Dream's former best friends, Sapnap is Bad's son and was most known for his near constant murder of pets, starting multiple wars by vengeful members seeking to avenge their fallen pets. Sapnap initially tried to play himself up as a Wild Card, but was more bark then bite and got easily defeated by actual wild-cards, Techno and Dream during the Battle of the Lake, leading to him joining Karl's new faction Rutabagville, but later ended up siding with Manberg. Sapnap was a firm supporter of George when he was king, and after hearing that Dream didn't care about anything except for Tommy's discs and George's dethronement at Dream's hands fell out with him, joining Quackity's new faction of El Rapids in opposition of Dream. Sapnap would enter a polyamorous relationship with Karl and Quackity and would come to side with L'Manberg during the Doomsday War, managing to take out quite a lot of Techno's hound army before being defeated. Sapnap would assist Tommy and Tubbo in the Disc Confrontation and would help Karl start up Kinoko Kingdom. Sapnap firmly believes Dream should stay in prison, though he's sad about where he ended up, and is currently trying to keep his relationship together, to no avail.

Sapnap has three lives left.
  • Arrows on Fire: Notably shoots fire arrows from his bow.
  • The Atoner: After the Pet Wars, Sapnap decided that he had to remake amends with people he had wronged.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Sapnap was this during the L'Manburg Civil War, having formed a third faction in an effort to take control of L'Manburg for himself. However, an early battle between his allies and Pogtopia showed that, cow murder aside, he wasn't much more than talk. When an actual third nation formed (the Badlands), Sapnap is noticeably absent from it, implying his crushing defeat at the hands of Dream, Techno, and Tommy during the Battle of the Lake had kept him in line for the time being.
  • Blood Knight: He really likes fighting and is always ready for a battle, in fact when Skeppy, BBH, and Puffy were doing some friendly duels against one another Sapnap gleefully logged on just so he could fight them.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: For a bloodthirsty warrior, deep down, Sapnap is quite sentimental. His friendships with George and Dream mean a lot to him and even after falling out with Dream, Sapnap still wants to salvage their friendship despite the pain he's caused him. Karl and Quackity, his fiancés, also mean a lot to him and he's fiercely protective of them.
  • Character Development: Following the Pet Wars, he has since become more peaceful, only choosing to resort to violence as a joke with his friends or if diplomacy fails. Sapnap also became less willing to put up with Dream's mistreatment of him and George, finally having had enough after hearing Dream indirectly claim he doesn't care about them.
  • Chekhov's Skill: Sapnap's habit as a Chronic Pet Killer. At first it's just an annoyance that sparks several minor conflicts, like the Battle of the Lake and the three Pet Wars. In the Doomsday War, however, he puts said pet-killing to good use, personally taking out over sixty of Techno's wolves when the anarchist lets them out on L'Manburg.
  • Chronic Pet Killer:
    • Unlike most examples, Sapnap is renowned for killing most of the server's pets throughout Season 1, to the point wars were declared against him because of this. As seen in Kick the Dog below, it's telling when only one of the server's dead pets wasn't killed by Sapnap (or didn't otherwise involve him, i.e. the Pet Wars).
    • During the Doomsday War, Sapnap's pet-killing tendency becomes quite useful for defending L'Manberg, managing to kill many members of Technoblade's Hound Army in the conflict. Even Techno remarks on this, indicating that Sapnap's reputation as this precedes him.
Technoblade: Oh God, I didn't think they'd have Sapnap! No one kills animals like Sapnap!
  • Demon Slaying: Fundy, Tubbo, and Sapnap are all part of the Dreamon Hunters, a group of investigators who seek out and destroy Dreamons.
  • Elemental Motifs: Heavily associated with fire. George once tried to kill Sapnap during a light-hearted scuffle by knocking him into lava in the Nether only for Sapnap to calmly reveal that he often swims in lava for the fun of it. (With help from his fire-resistant netherite armor, of course.)
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Sapnap seems to be on the receiving end of this from Dream. While Sapnap holds Dream in high regard and values their friendship, Dream has stated he holds no such attachment to anything on the server at all, leaving Sapnap to ask Tommy whether Dream actually cares about him. When Tommy bluntly tells him Dream doesn't, it clearly hurts him, though he tries to deny it.
  • Foil: To Punz. Both are good at PvP and have a chaotic mindset to thrive on violence in major wars. Whenever the conflict is over, however, Sapnap settles down and stay loyal to his friends, and has experienced Character Development to become more peaceful, but Punz only cares for his own profit and is willing to betray anyone as long as there is money for him to obtain.
  • Functional Addict: He offhandedly mentions that he has a drug addiction in a Dreamon Hunter episode, but otherwise seems to live life fairly normally... or as normally as one can on the SMP.
  • Glory Hound: Briefly in a Kick the Dog moment. Sapnap attempts to take Tommy's last canon life during his visit to the Dream SMP on Christmas in order to make it into a main channel video. Needless to say, it doesn't work.
  • The Heart: Contrary to popular belief, Sapnap is the mediator of the Fiancés, most notably between Karl and Quackity's growing hostility against each other due to several unaddressed issues.
  • Hidden Depths:
    • After beating Tommy very easily in a 1v1 duel, everyone begins making fun of Tommy losing so quickly. Everyone except for Sapnap, who compliments Tommy (via a whisper) for fighting like a man. He later even expresses a desire to be friends with Tommy after the war, even though they were on opposite sides, and after walls were placed around L'Manberg, it seems they have a better friendship than before.
    • While Sapnap is (justifiably) known as a pet killer, he cares greatly for his pet fish Mars and his late fox Skechers, and has hidden many of his pets in his secret base to protect them from harm.
  • Hot-Blooded: He is immensely hot-headed and stubborn, though he has definitely cooled down a bit since Season 1.
  • The Immune: Apparently he has a strong resistance against being possessed by Dreamons, which is why Tubbo and Fundy recruited him as a Dreamon Hunter.
  • Interspecies Adoption: When Sapnap, who is a human, was a child, he was adopted by BadBoyHalo, a demon.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • A literal example. In Season 1, of all the dead pets on the server, Sapnap has had a hand in all but one of their demises (the sole non-Sapnap pet casualty being L'Dog). This has started wars.
    • Sapnap would get a taste of his own medicine when a vengeful Fundy convinced Niki to kill his favorite fox Skechers and when Punz accidentally killed their new panda while attempting to retrieve it from Antfrost.
    • While Sapnap chided Dream for taunting Tommy after his Exile at first, he later joins in himself. He mocks Tommy's inability to go back to the Dream SMP by stepping into the portal, and even hits Tommy into the portal for a moment knowing full well that Dream will kill him if he goes through.
  • Knife-Throwing Act: Sapnap pretended to shoot Arrows on Fire at Fungi, Niki's pet fox, and shot above him three times... before accidentally killing the fox with his fourth shot. Needless to say, Fundy, who gifted Niki the fox, was not amused.
  • Lacerating Love Language: Sapnap's idea of showing affection to Squeeks, Tubbo's pet fox, is to punch him (which he considers "petting") and shoot at him with flame arrows.
  • Oh, Crap!: His reaction to accidentally killing Fungi, Niki's pet fox. Niki forgives him after he apologizes, but Fundy does not, and convinces Niki to kill Sapnap's favorite fox, Skechers...
  • Pyromaniac: He is portrayed as this after setting multiple structures, trees, and a fox on fire. Karl even claims that he gets excited about starting fires during their ambiguously-canonical couple's therapy session.
  • Raised by Orcs: Sapnap was adopted and raised by BadBoyHalo, a demon. Subverted in that BBH is very nice for a demon.
  • Second Love: He, along with Karl, are Quackity's jointly second long-term partners after the debacle with Schlatt went down in the Manburg Rebellion arc in the latter half of Season 1.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Downplayed. His role is by no means small, but he inadvertently causes the creation of L'Manburg when he rats out Wilbur's drug ring to Dream, which indirectly causes almost all of the events in the series after this point.
  • Stepford Smiler: During Tina's first stream on the server, Sapnap introduces her to Kinoko Kingdom and tells her about his perspective on the server's history, where, in the process, he starts venting about his relationship problems.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Sapnap promised Dream that should he escape prison, he will personally kill him.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Sapnap is an extremely skilled fighter, but tends to be overshadowed by Technoblade and Dream. This is shown best in the Doomsday War where he is the only person that causes Techno any real damage and almost succeeds in killing him altogether, with a little help from some of Techno's withers.note
  • We Used to Be Friends: Sapnap still harbors a lot of hurt feelings towards Dream, he still thinks of the man as his best friend and it hurts Sapnap to see how far Dream has fallen from the man he thought Dream was.
  • Wild Card: He used to serve under Dream, but as of recent, he's striking out more on his own simply because it serves his self-interests more. His loyalty primarily lies with those who show him kindness, like when he fought on Tommy's side during Doomsday after he returned Mars to him.
  • Worthy Opponent: Even though he easily defeated Tommy in a 1v1, the fact that Tommy was willing to solve all future pet conflicts peacefully gained Sapnap's respect.
  • You Leave Him Alone!: During the Final Disc War, as Tommy and Tubbo were running towards the group for safety, Dream tried to run after them. Sapnap blocks him, however.
    Sapnap: Step away from them.

"I'm masquerading as a cat, but in reality, I'm a demon."
Click here to see her as depicted in her official artwork
In-game name: TeanaKitten
Preferred name: Tina
"It feels so morally unjust, doesn't it? Don't you feel a pang of guilt? Not even a little?"
Tina is one of the newest members of the SMP, joining on October 23rd, 2021. During Quackity's visit to Kinoko Kingdom, Sapnap had mentioned that she had joined during the interlude.

Tina has three lives left.
  • Cat Girl: Subverted. Although Tina seems to have a pair of cat ears, it has been quickly revealed that they aren't actual cat ears, but rather wool-covered demon horns.
  • Flowers of Femininity: She wears flowers in her hair and is cheery and compassionate, as well as one of the few women on the server.
  • Horned Humanoid: Tina's white cat ears are apparently a front for a pair of white demon horns.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Her last name is 'Kitten', but she's actually a demon.
  • Our Demons Are Different: Tina is stated to be a demon with white horns, but other than that (which she hides by wrapping them in wool to make them look like cat ears), she practically passes for human. However, it is unknown whether she is the same species of demon as BadBoyHalo and whether she has similar characteristics, e.g. having her lives tied to another's.
  • The Pollyanna: On her first day on the server, Quackity tries to manipulate Tina, and when that didn't work, he chases her till she reaches the Holy Land and threatens to kill her if/when she leaves. In spite of her less-than-satisfactory induction into the server's hectic life, Tina still manages to stay optimistic and empathetic.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: When she visits the prison, she expresses pity towards Dream being stuck inside the prison. She also seems keen on trying to 'fix' DreamXD, which is her motivation for joining the Club for the God that Foolish was setting up.

    Callahan
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/callahan_skin.png
In-game name: Callahan
Preferred name: Callahan
One of the eight original members of the SMP and a server operator. He is usually neutral, but after Eret was dethroned and replaced with George, he was named the squire of the Dream SMP. During Karl's attempt at making an underground subway rollercoaster, Callahan was revealed to have become a member of Kinoko Kingdom.

Callahan has three lives left.
  • Ambiguously Human: While his skin seemingly is a just guy in a mask and a reindeer onesie, it has been implied that Callahan could genuinely be a reindeer hybrid. Plus, given his usage of creative mode, it also puts into question whether he might be a server god or not.
  • Butt-Monkey: He gets killed quite often when he's online.
  • Driven to Suicide: Played for Laughs. He non-canonically kills himself depending on certain situations, be it danger or embarrassment, one such example being doing so following Sapnap's freestyle ending in a rather... awkward line.
  • Human Pet: Tina's first day on the server has her getting two 'dogs', one being a llama, the other being Callahan... not that Callahan seemed to mind. He was also DreamXD's pet... something that he clearly did seem to mind, given how he seemed almost afraid of the End's ruler.
  • Mysterious Past: From what DreamXD had said, Callahan used to be XD's 'pet' in the past. However, when Foolish questioned more into it, like if XD gave him powers, XD either doesn't answer the question or gives a vague response. It doesn't help matters that Callahan has been shown to be seemingly afraid of DreamXD, opting to back away and hide behind Foolish during their meeting with the god.
  • Rage Quit:
    • At the Manburg Festival, after Technoblade kills him with "Subscribe to Technoblade"note, Callahan quits the game immediately.
    • This happens again during Technoblade's assassination of George. When Antfrost kills him on pure impulse, he instantly quits the game.
    • Callahan would later attempt to place a block of TNT to destroy a road connecting the rest of the server to Las Nevadas, but the block was destroyed by Quackity and he was attacked by Quackity shortly after, causing him to disconnect.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Bad showed him and Quackity the Egg, Callahan chose to stand on a magma block in the Egg Chamber until he died non-canonically and respawned away from the Egg.
  • The Squire: Callahan was the squire of the Dream SMP, alongside George, who was the King at the time. He has presumably kept this position when the crown was moved back to Eret.
  • Troll: Enjoys being this mostly to Foolish, but has no qualms in doing so to others like, for instance, Karl.
  • Undying Loyalty: Tina's first day on the server has him quickly bond with her and going out of his way to do his best to protect her in case of trouble arising. He also showcased such an attitude prior to Alyssa's departure from the server.
  • The Voiceless: Because of personal reasons, Callahan never joins voice calls, so his voice has never been heard. He prefers to communicate through his body language and in-game chat.

    Nihachu
Though she is not an official member of the Kinoko Kingdom, Niki spends a lot of time in her secret underground city, which is located directly under the faction's territory. Tropes about her can be found here.

    Foolish
Although Foolish is not an official member of Kinoko Kingdom, he is heavily affiliated with it due to being its main builder. See more about him here.

    Drista
In-game name: Dream (or Sapnap on one occasion)
Preferred name: Drista
Dream's younger sister, who sporadically plays on the server on Dream's (and on one occasion, on Sapnap's) account, usually with Tommy. She currently has citizenship in Kinoko Kingdom and serves as the High Judge.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Drista is mischievous and often riles up both Dream and Tommy with her antics, though she does listen to her older brother when she steps too far out of line.
  • Dual Wielding: Her visit after Bruno's death to the server has her dual wield Netherite swords, clearly looking to avenge Bruno's death.
  • God of Chaos: Implied with her constant trolling whenever she's around, and if Tommy referring to her as "God Lady" while speaking to Wilbur is anything to go by.
  • Hammerspace: Having access to creative mode, Drista is able to pull out infinite amounts of every block and item in the game, and has been known to give out "forbidden" items, from bedrock and barrier blocks to shulker boxes and end rods (which are only obtainable with access to The End).
  • Hypocritical Humor: Drista repeatedly makes fun of Tommy for being a child (he's sixteen at the time), despite the fact that she's only fourteen (at the time) herself.
  • Informed Ability: Claims to be able to "MLG water bucket", however each of her attempts has ended with a near miss.
  • Irony: Despite being a massive troll and causing massive amounts of chaos on the server every single time she visits, she joins the Kinoko Kingdom as its High Judge.
  • Jerkass to One: Drista is incredibly fond of picking on Tommy in particular, bullying him every time she logs onto the server. This is exaggerated once her dog is killed by Foolish, where she instead focuses her anger on Tommy and ambushes him with two Netherite swords. Nevertheless, the two are still friends.
  • Misplaced Retribution: The first person Drista kills after her dog Bruno's death is Tommy, who had nothing to do with it and was just with the group who killed him while Foolish killed Bruno.
  • Pals with Jesus: Tommy, who is a relatively normal human being, is friends with Drista, a powerful entity with access to Creative mode. Dream himself also qualifies, considering said powerful entity is his sister.
  • Portmanteau: "Drista" is a fusion of 'Dream' and 'sister'.
  • Recurring Extra: She is one of the few recurring guests on the server, having visited by proxy multiple times.
  • Satan: Drista is canonically the equivalent to the Devil on the Dream SMP, though she doesn't really use her powers for evil, and mostly just causes a bit of chaos before leaving. She's surprisingly benevolent at times, even giving players items they'd be unable to get otherwise.
  • Troll: Several of her visits have involved people being jokingly killed and the distribution of "forbidden" items/blocks. During one fateful visit, she even spawned in the Ender Dragon.
  • Wowing Cthulhu: When Tommy manages to pull off an MLG water bucket from a high drop onto bamboo, she's genuinely impressed and stops her antics for the time being.

Pets

    Mars
Sapnap's fish, who is eventually released into the ocean, but later retrieved and returned to Sapnap.
  • The Bus Came Back: Tommy eventually retrieves Mars from the ocean and returns her to Sapnap, in an attempt to win Sapnap over to his side for the Doomsday War. It works.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Mars shares a name with the Roman god of war, but is referred to with feminine pronouns.
  • Living MacGuffin: During the War of the Burning Eiffel Tower, Dream gives Mars to Tommy to use as leverage against Sapnap.
  • Shoo the Dog: Her fate following the end of the Pet Wars. Sapnap, in the company of Tommy, reluctantly lets her go as a token of peace.
  • Shout-Out: Mars is a fish named after a donator on Sapnap's streams.

    Beckerson
The Dream Team's collective pet fish, who has been repeatedly used as a bargaining chip and is currently in Sapnap's possession.
  • Living MacGuffin: Beckerson has been used as a bargaining chip on multiple occasions.
  • Shout-Out: Beckerson is named after a donator on the Dream Team's streams.
