    General
The oldest faction on the entire SMP. It was once much more powerful, but it’s declined recently as members of the server have split away to to other things. Originally considered to span the entire server, its current territory contains anything close to spawn not covered by the Badlands or the L’Manburg Crater. It’s usually led by Dream, although in his absence after Doomsday, Punz became the interim leader of the faction. While there’s technically a king (currently and usually Eret, although George briefly assumed the throne during the L’Manburg Civil War), the position has no real political power. However, this changed after Dream was stripped of his power and imprisoned, and Eret decided to fill the power vacuum left behind in order to make the server a better place.

By the end of Season 4, Eret has since formed the Knights of Hope — an alliance dedicated to going after Dream and getting back the Revive Book for the use of good. In addition, Aimsey had since created a place that resided next to Eret's castle — Daisy Hollow.

  • The Good Kingdom: Eret's rule has been kind to the Greater Dream SMP, turning Dream's one-man dictatorship into this trope. It helps that Eret is The Good King compared to Dream's Big Bad status.
  • Puppet King: It is an open secret that all of the known monarchs ruling the faction have little to no actual political power, with Dream acting as The Man Behind the Man. This comes to an end once Dream is imprisoned, allowing the current monarch Eret to turn the faction into a force for good.
  • Vestigial Empire:
    • Its territory used to span the entirety of the server, but then L'Manburg declared independence, eventually followed by other factions. Its current territory contains anything close to spawn not covered by the Badlands or the L'Manburg Crater, which is still a substantial decrease in land.
    • This also extends to the population, which has not only whittled down to merely six citizens, but of whom most are inactive in the faction: Dream himself is in prison, Punz and Ponk have been brainwashed by the Egg, and Alyssa is retired from the server. This leaves Eret and Callahan the only remaining members still loyal to the country. By Season Four, with the Eggpire gone, Ponk has since struck out on his own, and Punz is more loyal to a fugitive Dream than to the Greater SMP itself. Even Callahan has joined Kinoko Kingdom during this time. Thus, Eret is left as the sole ruler of an essentially-defunct country. By the end of the season, things are beginning to turn around as Eret has formed the Knights of Hope with Aimsey and HBomb — an alliance dedicated to getting the revive book from Dream.

In-game name: The_Eret
Preferred name: Eret
"Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it."
One of the original founders of L'Manburg, who wound up betraying his compatriots to Dream in exchange for kingship over the SMP. However, Eret regrets this decision, and decides to help L'Manburg return to its former glory by siding with Pogtopia during the war, but at the cost of his kingship. However, Dream suddenly recrowned Eret as king later on when he felt George wasn't suited for the position.

After Dream's imprisonment, Eret decided that they could finally use this as an opportunity to take power into their own hands, in order to make the server a better place. Currently, they are the head of the Knights of Hope.

Eret has three lives left.

  • Ambiguously Human: While Eret mostly seems human, some small things (notably their eyes) imply there might be something else going on beneath the surface. Their February 21st, 2021 stream more or less confirmed that Eret isn't human, or at least not entirely; specifically, they seem to have some connection to Herobrine.
  • The Atoner: Ever since their betrayal in the Final Control Room, Eret has been driven to make life better for everyone on the server.
  • Big Fancy Castle: Eret's castle, also known as the Gay Castle or Pride Palace, is a large stone-brick castle decorated with rainbow-coloured windows, a giant rainbow flag, and a statue of Eret.
  • Blaming the Victim: Likely unintentionally. Eret's countering of Wilbur's apology (saying Wilbur could do better, etc.) and asking for an apology from Wilbur for "leaving" (read: dying from assisted suicide) is insensitive at best, especially because Eret was the cause of Wilbur's spiral in the first place (not that Eret knew this) and Wilbur seemed visibly afraid/hesitant of him through the entire confrontation.
  • Cool Crown: As the King of the Greater SMP, he wears a golden crown with rainbow-coloured gems. They have since thrown it away into the L'Manburg crater after their confrontation with Wilbur as a symbolic act of being The Atoner.
  • Cool Shades: Is almost always wearing sunglasses, no matter the situation. Justified as she uses the sunglasses to hide his eyes, which are seen as terrifying by most other server members.
  • Cope by Creating: Implied. It is implied that one of Eret's main coping mechanisms for dealing with and moving past traumatic events is building monuments or exhibits on them in his museum, like the replica of the Egg, or the monument she made for Foolish after he sacrificed himself to save them during the Red Banquet, for example. Interestingly, he shares this coping mechanism with Foolish.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: Eret's betrayal of L'Manburg serves as this to Wilbur, who Took a Level in Cynic because of it and began to undergo a mental spiral which ended in his assisted suicide.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Eret has threatened people who don't pay taxes for the Greater SMP with unleashing a wither on their property, the very mob that can and has detonated nations to rubble in the past when spawned.
  • Face–Heel Turn: They betrayed the L'Manburgian rebellion to become a king within Dream SMP territorynote , though it's also important to note that according to cc!Eret, Dream manipulated them into doing so, and it is evident that they greatly regret their decision.
  • Finding Judas: The reason Eret betrayed L'Manburg during their War for Independence was because they believed that it would allow the server to 'become peaceful again', thus benefitting the greater good of the server (even though the server was far from peaceful even before L'Manburg), and it was a win-win situation that they would gain political power. Needless to say, it didn't work, and they had regretted their decision ever since.
  • Foil:
  • Forgotten First Meeting: According to Foolish, he and Eret have a long personal history involving many adventures. Eret remembers none of this.
  • The Good King: Although Eret doesn't have any political power in Dream SMP, he is generally a respectful person towards everyone, willing to atone for his crimes and helping both the Dream SMP and L'Manberg. There is a good reason why the majority of the people support Eret rather than George.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Attempts this during the L'Manburg Civil War, rejecting Jschlatt's takeover in favor of supporting Wilbur and Tommy's rebellion efforts. This does not work out for him, however (see Reformed, but Rejected).
  • I Call It "Vera": As of Season 4, Eret's sword is named "Royal Retribution".
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Eret can't remember any of the adventures she went on with Foolish, but didn't realize she'd forgotten anything in the first place.
    Foolish: Nothing?
Eret: Foolish, I know nothing. I know absolutely nothing. I am so lost.
  • Metaphorically True: She has named one of her bows "Natural Causes"note , so whoever gets shot to death with the bow will be said to have "died from Natural Causes".
  • Nice Guy: Eret is a very kind and caring individual who currently wishes to atone for his past actions, often leaving blocks of pink wool in people's chests with the message "You Matter".
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Though most people are learning to move past it, no one has forgotten that Eret betrayed the L'Manburgians for kingship of the Greater Dream SMP, as Ponk kindly reminds everyone during the Red Banquet.
  • Otherworldly and Sexually Ambiguous: Eret prefers not to label himself as any particular gender, and uses any pronouns (though most members of the server default to using he/him). They are also not (fully) human, having a connection to Herobrinenote .
Eret: I'm a strong, independent... whatever the fuck I am.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: They wear one to the Red Banquet, complete with gold epaulettes and trim.
  • Prophet Eyes: Eret's eyes are completely white. He's insecure about them, and usually hides them behind his sunglasses.
  • Puppet King:
    • Dream names him king of the Dream SMP as a reward for his betrayal of L'Manburg during the L'Manburg War of Independence, but it's clearly In Name Only. Dream is quite obviously the one actually in charge of the Dream SMP, and it's especially notable as Dream outright strips Eret of his title in the L'Manburg Civil War — had Eret actually held any power over Dream, there's no chance that would have been allowed to happen.
    • His motivation for resurrecting Wilbur is an acknowledgment of his own lack of power; Eret believes that Wilbur was a better leader during his presidency of L'Manburg for his ability to rally people to his cause and support his citizens in a way that Eret simply can't.
  • Reformed, but Rejected/Heel–Face Door-Slam: Although Eret regrets his decision to betray L'Manburg and genuinely wants to help Wilbur and Tommy, the latter two still heavily distrust him because of his betrayal. His first attempt at helping them (offering them sanctuary after they got ousted from L'Manburg by Schlatt) resulted in them shouting at him and demanding him to leave the call.
  • Regretful Traitor: After his betrayal of L'Manburg, he starts to regret his actions. This culminates into him actively wanting to help his former allies when they were exiled from L'Manburg.
  • Requisite Royal Regalia: After becoming king, Eret is always seen wearing an ornate crown and a long red coat with white trim. She even wears it during the period where she was dethroned by Dream.
  • Small Role, Big Impact:
    • Though Eret's betrayal is hardly "small" at all, it has no major ramifications after the war until Pogtopia's rise, wherein Wilbur and Tommy refuse to accept Eret's Heel–Face Turn and thus deprive themselves of a direct ally. His betrayal also contributes heavily to Wilbur's Sanity Slippage, as the former leader of L'Manburg Took A Level In Cynicism after his betrayal of the revolution and begins to become paranoid that his allies will all follow in Eret's footsteps and betray them. Wilbur's donning of Jade-Colored Glasses also caused him to advise a then-Naïve Newcomer Quackity to do the same, who took his words to heart and also eventually chooses to follow in Wilbur's footsteps. As a result, Eret arguably caused two different people on the server to go into mental spirals that greatly hurt their fellow server-members, directly or otherwise.
    • Their betrayal was also the spark for turning the SMP into a morally grey area rather than having clear-cut sides, as explained in this conversation on Twitter.
atlasLVJY: what attracted smp!Eret to Dream’s appeal before betraying L’Manburg? like, was it the strict offer of a title, land, and power or was there something else to it we didn’t get to know?
Eret_Alt: At the time, Dream hadn't entirely gone "full villain" and Eret saw betraying L'Manberg as a way to return the server back to normal..
As we can see, this didn't happen and the betrayal of the rebellion threw the "good guy, bad guy" conflict into a much more morally grey dilemma

    aimsey
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2022_03_29_101206_am.png
"Never waste a perfect sunrise."
In-game name: aimsey
Preferred name: Aimsey
"It's nothing that can't be fixed!"
Aimsey is one of the newest members of the SMP, joining on 16 March 2022. They were given a tour of the server by Boo, before moving into the abandoned Snowchester mansion. However, Aimsey would go onto be evicted by Tubbo and had since created their own home — Daisy Hollow — next to Eret's castle. Currently, they serve as a barista at their own coffee shop and a member of the Knights of Hope.

Aimsey stayed on the Bear SMP for a while, and their character has retained all of their memories and experiences from that server.

Aimsey has two lives left after being fatally pushed off the section of the Prime Path near the hotel by Tubbo.
  • Arboreal Abode: Following losing the Snowchest mansion, their next homes followed as such.
  • Can't Get Away with Nuthin': The one time they end up joining in on server destruction (by burning down Ponk's tree)? He's promptly punished by CPK by being killed in a pit trap.
  • Cargo Ship: In-universe. Aimsey didn't just move into the Snowchester mansion, they also married it after quickly becoming infatuated with the build. However, such a relationship would end following Aimsey's death and eviction by Tubbo.
  • Character Overlap: With their Bear SMP counterpart, having retained their memories and experiences from that server.
  • Flower Motifs:
    • Aimsey carries an oxeye daisy around with them, which they found early on. The oxeye daisy is a symbol of patience, which is fitting for someone who is determined to make the server a better place, one day at a time.
    • Another important flower is the pink tulip that Aimsey placed inside their cafe under a sign with the letter G on it, as a nod to Guqqie from the Bear SMP.
  • In-Series Nickname: Michela calls him "Aims" throughout his character finale.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: This is stated to be Aimsey's ending at the end of Volume 1, with their ending being getting out of Dodge off-screen in search of a new home. Considering how the volume ends, most likely not long after xey leave the Crapsack World of a server behind, it's both a timely and wise decision on Aimsey's part.
cc!Aimsey: (on Discord) [...] id like to imagine xey realised the concept of a few things wouldn't work, and so its packed up her things and just left and kept walking to make herself a new home
  • The Lost Lenore: Although the two never became an official couple back on the Bear SMP, Aimsey and Guqqie were very close and did have feelings for each other. Sadly, their relationship broke apart and the last time they saw each other was during a very bitter fight, leading to Aimsey leaving in frustration. They never had the chance to mend their once-strong bond, as by the time Aimsey came back, Guqqie... was no longer around.
  • Nature Lover: Very much this, with their extreme love of flowers, trees and enjoying the sunset of the SMP which they don't want to waste.
  • Nice Guy: One of the sweetest members of the server as well as one of the most adamant in trying to de-escalate conflict without violence... which is certainly something when considering the majority of the cast, while not as bad as Dream, can range from being jerkish to destructive to bloodthirsty (or all three, depending on the person).
  • Not So Above It All: While they are against violence and revenge the server is known for, they also end up joining in the server's culture of casual item theft. Also ended up burning down Ponk's lemon tree, but that didn't end well for them.
  • The Pollyanna: In a server where they had been evicted, harassed, attacked, framed, lied to and put into danger by its inhabitants, Aimsey stands as being that continuously tries to refuse to go down the path many in the server had taken, often wanting to take peaceful means to their problems instead of lashing out.
  • Rejected Apology: Initially, didn't forgive Tubbo for killing them since they believe forgiveness can only be earned if one is truly remorseful. When they meet back up prior to Puffy's party, both have since made amends.
  • Verbal Judo: Their preferred method against conflict and is a firm believer that just talking things out is the key to avoiding tragedy.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: In a server where people are more than accustomed to using violence and chaos due to the server's turbulent history, Aimsey serves as a stark contrast by believing things can be worked out peacefully and strives to work towards a more positive world.

    HBomb
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/body_5.png
Click here to see his Cat Maid skin
In-game name: HBomb94
Preferred name: HBomb or H
"Bad deeds cause bad people to do bad things."
A friendly and often neutral citizen of the Dream SMP, he didn't get himself involved on the server's conflict until the Manberg-Pogtopia War, where he fought for Manberg. He was one of Eret's Royal Knights, but has since moved away from Eret's castle to a savanna village far away, due to feelings of neglect and depression after the Doomsday War on Jan 6th 2020. H is the owner of his own cat maid service, which has hired Antfrost. By the end of the current season, he has since joined back with Eret as a member of the Knights of Hope.

H has three lives left.
  • The Alcoholic: He becomes this after the Doomsday War, often acting confused and irrational as a result of his drinking.
  • Alone in a Crowd: The main reason why he decided to leave everything behind and move far far away. H was feeling forgotten and ignored by the other people of the SMP. The Last Straw was when Tommy looted his base in Eret's castle and wrote an apology for doing so, directed at Eret.
  • Double-Meaning Title: His podcast-game show hybrid, L'Cast, is a podcast where HBomb gets to know two members of the SMP in each episode (some of them being part of L'Manburg and its successors) while they cast fishing rods into the lake where the podcast takes place in.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: He has eventually resorted to this after Doomsday, turning to alcohol in the savanna village where he lives, far from the main hub of the SMP.
  • The Host: He previously hosted a weekly podcast-game show hybrid with two randomly chosen members of the SMP.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: His obsession with wanting to be relied on and needed has led him to take over a distant village and take all the local cats in as pets so he has something to protect.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: His reason on joining the SMP in the first place. Too bad it never came true.
  • Kill Tally: HBomb has stated multiple times on stream that his goal in the SMP is to have as many people die to his obstacle course as possible. The number of deaths on the server has definitely skyrocketed ever since he introduced his game to his fellow server-mates.
  • Meido: HBomb milks this trope for all it's worth after he asked Twitter for dumb ideas to do on the SMP. He ended up becoming Fundy's maid for a day, and while Fundy was initially excited to have a servant to do his bidding all day, HBomb showed up with his new cat boy maid skin and spent the whole time cracking not-so-innocent innuendos. Needless to say, Fundy was less than pleased. Even though he was only Fundy's maid for one day, he kept wearing the skin for a several days futilely trying to find a new master after Fundy fired him. He uses said skin whenever the scenario calls for H's cat maid service to come into play.
  • Naïve Newcomer: HBomb makes an obstacle course challenge, which prompts Technoblade to tell him that this server tends to be about political roleplay rather than normal Minecraft things. (Techno does the obstacle course anyway.)
  • Not the Fall That Kills You…: His Leap of Faith obstacle course relies on players bouncing off of slime blocks from a great height, grabbing a bow and an arrow on the way, shooting at a tiny button on a target board, and hopefully landing into a one block hole of water without dying of fall damage.
  • Wild Card: He never aligns with any faction truly, yet when it comes to server conflict or attempts at it, he's usually all for continuing the chaos. For example, he suggested Techno blow up Jack's house during Doomsday (bear in mind H was fighting against Techno moments before), which gets Techno to flat out ask whose side is H really on.

    Eryn
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eryn_skin_8.png
"If you make a wiki on me, I'm going to crush someone."
In-game name: Eryn
Preferred name: Eryn
"You know, I've tripped and fallen and killed a few people, you know?"
Eryn is one of the newest members of the SMP, joining on October 22nd, 2021. He's an old school friend of Tommy, and as a result, shares a lot of his humor and mannerisms. While not a member of the Knights of Hope, Eryn is a resident of Aimsey's Daisy Hollow.

Eryn has two lives left. He lost his first life during the Volume 1 finale, when they were knocked into lava by an Egg-controlled Puffy as a sacrifice for the hatching of the Egg.
  • And Show It to You: Eryn killed someone by tearing their heart out before joining the SMP.
soundbygnf: (referring to the red patches on Eryn's Minecraft skin) can we canon this like blood from your skin before you discover the place the dream smp you beat up someone and you ran away after that
ErynShits: i tore out someones heart with my bare hands ^-^ eat that lore enjoyers 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
  • Blood Is the New Black: His right arm is splattered with blood.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Implied to be the case. Eryn seems to believe that violence and murder are socially acceptable practices.
  • Childhood Friends: With Tommy; as shown during his February 12th, 2022 stream, they grew on nearby towns together, and spent a lot of time hanging out, teaching each other how to shoot bows or swim, and overall just having fun.
  • Doomed Hometown: Eryn's home was destroyed by (Zombified) Piglins, seeking revenge for his parents doing the same to them. He kills all of them.
  • The Empath: During his lore stream on 12th February 2022, Eryn demonstrated this ability when he went to the L'Manberg crater and was able to hear the distorted voices of past wars that had taken place at the former settlement.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Eryn's not evil, but he's incredibly violent and off-handedly mentioned that he's murdered people in the past. Despite this, it's implied that he had a good relationship with his parents and he later kills all of the Zombified Piglins to avenge them after he finds their village burned to the ground by said Piglins. His construction of the Dream shrine under Tommy's house was also a misguided attempt to help his childhood friend.
  • Flat-Earth Atheist: They have no issues with desecrating the Holy Land due to being atheist, despite the fact that they are quite literally half-demon.
  • Human-Demon Hybrid: Eryn has been confirmed to be half-human, half-demon, which is later shown to be from an Interspecies Romance between his human father and demon mother.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Stated to be his motivation in his 12 February 2022 lore stream.
  • Innocently Insensitive: In one fateful incident, Eryn built a shrine dedicated to Dream under Tommy's house, with the intention of making the server think that Tommy is working with Dream and having them lock Tommy up in the prison, because Tommy told him that he felt directionless without Dream around and thus Eryn wanted his friend to regain a sense of purpose. This is all done without knowing the specific context about Tommy's traumatic past with Dream.
  • Ninja: His outfit is this and, in fairness, he has shown the capabilities of one, given his stealth prowess and thief skills.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Has a bad habit of doing this, with his mouth and Wild Card nature often getting him misunderstood by the other server members. A good example is how frequently he does this throughout his tour with Eret on the server's history, something that the Eret mentions constantly given how they really want to like Eryn, but his actions (such as making the Dream shrine) keep hindering that perception to the point Eret opted not to knight Eryn right away.
  • Noodle Incident: He ripped somebody's heart out and got his sleeve covered in the blood prior to joining the SMP.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: In an attempt to try to appeal to Eret to get them to teach him about the history of the SMP, Eryn bribes them with the Warden's Access key card, and by that, we mean it was actually signed by Sam himself, as opposed to a copy he made. Given that the former owner should have been Dream of all people, the fact Eryn not only did that but also got away with it is simply extraordinary.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Eryn's right eye is dark red in color — attributed to his demon blood, and has a violent and chaotic streak.
  • Smarter Than You Look: Despite his chaotic nature, Eryn is more intelligent and crafty than he acts. This is showcased as he's the first one to catch on to Niki's suspicious behavior during the jailbreak but is blown off by Tommy's panicking and the others not really paying too much heed to him, a move that ends up biting them in the ass once Niki spawns in Withers that prohibits them from going after the escaped Dream.
  • Sticky Fingers: One of the ways he tries to appeal to Eret is by revealing he somehow managed to swipe the Warden's Access card key. Given that the former owner should have been Dream of all people, the fact Eryn got away with that is astounding.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: As his Origins stream shows, Eryn looks quite similar to his father.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Although he and Tommy banter a lot, they're still very close.
  • Wild Card: While Eryn can be loyal to his friends (like Tommy), ultimately when it comes to server conflicts between factions or even people, his lack of awareness of the server's prior history has him flip-flop between aiding whoever. Thus, this can lead to him doing things like joining in the hunt for the escaped Dream and his cohorts... to letting Niki escape in the Nether, despite her involvement in Dream's breakout.
