     The Cookout

The Cookout

Members: Xavier, Tiffany, Hannah, Kyland, Derek F, and Azah

  • The Dog Bites Back: The group was formed to guarantee that Big Brother would finally have a black winner after 22 seasons of no black winners, black contestants often getting targeted and evicted relatively early in the game, and many of those contestants also having to put up with racism from the white contestants in multiple seasons. Meaning that this trope wasn’t about this group pushing back against the white contestants of this specific cast, but rather the white dominance of the show’s history.
  • Freudian Trio: Derek F (Id), Kyland (Ego), and Xavier (Superego) for the men, and Azah (Id), Tiffany (Ego), and Hannah (Superego) for the women.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: Has three men and three women as its six members.
  • He-Man Woman Hater: Unfortunately the male half of the group had some shades of this to varying degrees, which became fully apparent by the end. Derek F was the most blatant about his hatred of the group’s women with frequent mean comments about all of them. Kyland seemed to have an Innocently Insensitive viewpoint of only the men deserving to win by completely overlooking everything that Tiffany and Hannah contributed. Xavier didn’t seem to genuinely have the issues with women that they did, but nonetheless didn’t push back on most of the misogynistic comments because of how it benefitted him strategically.
  • The Load: Derek F and Azah didn’t do much for the group while Tiffany, Hannah, and Kyland did mostly everything. Xavier was somewhere in the middle by making some moves for the Cookout but prioritizing his personal endgame over it.
  • No Casualties Run: Impressively, all six of the members made it to the final six of the game with only one player outside of their group ever seeming to suspect their existence.
  • No-Respect Guy: Tiffany coming up with the group’s strategy that got them to final six, along with all of the work she put toward their goal, got completely overlooked by the final four players. Hannah also had her contributions blatantly dismissed by Kyland on multiple occasions. Both of them got the credit they were due by fans after the game, with Tiffany even winning “America’s Favorite Player” for everything she did.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Kyland was by far the biggest Jerkass out of the effective players in the group, and had no problem being The Bully, a Toxic Friend Influence, or any other negative trope to houseguests outside of the group to ensure that they succeeded.
  • Token Good Teammate: Hannah was by far the sweetest member of the group, genuinely feeling guilty about betraying houseguests for them to the point of crying and frequently having Heroic Self-Deprecation over it, going out of her way to be really nice to the houseguests they were evicting and giving sympathy votes for them when she could, and despite this, also being the most selfless for their cause by being the only one to never try to keep her non-Cookout ally longer in the game for a personal advantage, nor complaining about having to make the sacrifice like everyone else did.

The Winner

Xavier Eugene Prather (1st Place, The Winner)

Xavier Eugene Prather

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/xavier_12.png

Born: May 12, 1990
Age (at time of competition): 27
Hometown: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Current City: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Occupation: Attorney
Team: KINGS (Xavier, Christian, Alyssa, Sarah Beth)
HOH Wins: 3 (Week 3, Week 11, Week 12)
POV Wins: 3 (Week 7, Week 9, Week 11)
Wildcard Competition Wins: 0
Nominations: 4 (Week 8, Week 9 x 2, Week 10)
Have Nots: 2 (Week 1, Week 5)
Prizes Won: Immunity for teammates note
Punishments Taken: Chopping Block Roulette note
Finished: 1st (WINNER)
Jury Votes Received: 9/9 against Derek F. (Received votes from Britini, Derek X., Sarah Beth, Claire, Alyssa, Tiffany, Hannah, Kyland, and Azah)

  • Affably Evil: He is definitely nice and friendly to everyone in the house for the most part. However, he still isn't afraid to lie, scheme and plot their demise.
  • A Father to His Men: For the most part, up until the Final 6, Xavier treated his alliance like Family, and even regrets getting rid of Alyssa crying genuine tears when she was evicted.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: He won with all votes in his favour.
  • Berserk Button: Do not say he is a bad uncle to his nephew. Kyland learned the hard way.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: While not an obvious villain like Kyland, he was nonetheless seen as one of the main antagonists to the fan favorite houseguests like Tiffany, Hannah, and Claire along with their fans. His ability to always be in a safe position no matter what, even when on the block, made him come across as an Invincible Villain to these houseguests more or less. Kyland even tried to cash in on this by making a final two deal with him and went so far as to save Xavier at several points to make this happen, except Xavier just cut him at final four for an easier win.
  • Convicted by Public Opinion: Pulls this on Tiffany to get her evicted. When she gets put in a bad spot and has no choice but to either evict her best friend Claire or a Cookout member, Xavier uses the uncertainty of the situation to convince the other Cookout members that she’s probably going to betray them and stirs up drama about how she’s untrustworthy. Tiffany doesn’t end up betraying them after all, and she sends Claire home, but Xavier being so adamant on treating the situation as a betrayal anyway convinces Derek F, Azah, and Kyland to turn on her despite her clearly not betraying them. Pragmatically it was a smart way to knock out his biggest competitor within the Cookout, but morally it could be considered the most evil move he made in the game.
  • Flawless Victory: Xavier won with a unanimous 9-0 vote against Derek F. He was also the first winner to receive $750,000 prize as the winner. In previous seasons, the winner won $500,000.
  • Iconic Outfit: Usually seen in a bucket hat.
  • In Love with the Mark: When he needed to partner up with Alyssa to help blindside and evict her for the Cookout mission, he got very attached to her and even started trying to think of ways to make her an honorary Cookout member to keep her longer in the game than he was supposed to. While this is partly because the move would have helped keep him even more secure for longer in the game, he was nonetheless clearly attached to her as a person too, and actually cried once it was time for her eviction.
  • Invincible Villain: Once he had Derek F, Azah, and Kyland all completely committed to taking him to the final two at the point of the final six, there was no way that he could be voted out whether he was on the block or not.
  • Kick the Dog: When Tiffany wins her second HOH and Alyssa gets veto, Xavier immediately assumes that Tiffany is going to betray the Cookout and turns the group against her. When Tiffany in fact doesn’t betray the Cookout and instead sends Claire home for them, he remains ungrateful and still goes ahead with getting everyone to turn on her and get her out anyway.
  • Lesser of Two Evils / A Lighter Shade of Black: Many considered him this in the final two vote against Derek F, both in the house and out of it. While Xavier had his villainous qualities, particularly in how badly he treated AFP winner Tiffany, he at least only had these unlikeable qualities for the sake of Pragmatic Villainy. He even expressed admiration for Tiffany as a player and how much she did for the Cookout in his goodbye message to her, confirming that his attacks on her character were purely strategic and not personal. Meanwhile, Derek F’s misogyny to several female houseguests actually did seem genuine and personal, as these comments served no apparent gameplay purpose. Additionally, while neither of them were among the more noble players actively making sacrifices to their own game to help the Cookout, Xavier at least did some work for the Cookout while DF did next to nothing. This made him the clearly more heroic choice in the final two despite many still viewing him as a villain.
  • Morality Pet: His nephew named after Kobe Bryant. Kyland learned the hard way not to bring his nephew into conversations after his eviction.
  • Only Sane Man: By the time of the final four, he was basically the only rational player left in the game, making his victory from there very easy.
  • Oh, Crap!: There’s only one moment in the entire game where he seems genuinely afraid, and it’s when Hannah puts him on the block with Alyssa. With Alyssa as the last non-Cookout member, Claire having just highlighted how big of a threat Xavier is during her eviction speech, and Hannah’s loyalty to Tiffany making it clear that she wouldn’t put up the only Cookout member who would probably be voted out over him, Xavier knew that he would be in real trouble if Alyssa won the veto. This leads to him not holding back at all during the veto competition and winning it in record time to keep himself safe.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Like Derek F, Derek X, and Hannah this is Zig-Zagged. Some people call him Xavier like Julie and especially Tiffany, but mostly everyone else calls him "X".
  • The Pawns Go First: Played this trope to his benefit. While he and Tiffany were the ones who masterminded the Cookout, and he did befriend Alyssa to help blindside and evict her, he also didn’t get his hands dirty as much as Tiffany, Kyland, or Hannah. While those three were focused on dealing with players outside of their group to ensure the Cookout’s success, Xavier instead mainly focused on his friendships with Derek F and Azah. The end result was that, once only the Cookout remained, Xavier ended up with two loyal allies protecting him and going along with all of his decisions, while his biggest competition were left without strong support groups and were vulnerable to him and his two very loyal followers.
  • Pet the Dog: When Azah makes fun of Hannah for looking scared before her eviction, Xavier is disapproving. In fact, it does seem that he genuinely did see Hannah as a little sister to some extent and that he does sincerely care about her.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: The Cookout’s entire goal was to ensure that the series would finally have a black winner and every action they took was to ensure that that goal was met. While Xavier winning meant they had accomplished that goal, Xavier himself seems to have come to view his victory as this, since he and the Cookout have been very vocal about the outright bullying with very potent racial undertones of next season’s Taylor, a black woman, by many houseguests and admits that he feels his aggressive behavior made have been fuel for this stigma and feels personally responsible for some of her treatment.
  • Promoted Fanboy: While many of the cast are fans of Big Brother to an extent, he's been an active fan since the early seasons, citing Danelle Reyes and Dr. Will as his favorites, and teaching Kyland about the game.
  • The Social Expert: If there's anyone out there in the game who can manipulate things to his advantage with none being the wiser, and easily able to reassure and do damage control better than anyone else in the final four, it's X.
  • The Smart Guy: Is a lawyer.
  • Tranquil Fury: He keeps his cool when an evicted Kyland bashes Xavier's relationship with his nephew, and Xavier calmly but menacingly tells him to keep talking about his nephew (and see what happens).
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Insists that Tiffany is “selfish” for winning a second HOH. Even after she evicts her own best friend Claire to help the Cookout, this makes no difference to Xavier as he continues to insist that Tiffany is a selfish player anyway, all the way through her eviction.

The Runner Up

     Derek Dennis Frazier (The Runner-Up)

Derek Dennis Frazier

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/derekf.png

Born: Nov 17, 1991
Age (at time of competition): 29
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Current City: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Occupation: Safety Officer
Team: JOKERS (Derek F, Frenchie, Azah, Britini)
HOH Wins: 0
POV Wins: 0
Wildcard Competition Wins: 0
Nominations: 3 (Week 6, Week 7, Week 10)
Have Nots: 2 (Week 4, Week 9)
Prizes Won: Chopping Block Roulette note
Punishments Taken:
Finished: 2nd (RUNNER-UP)
Jury Votes Received: 0/9 against Xavier (Received zero votes from the Jury)

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Calls Kyland his "showmance" and repeatedly tried to make advances on him.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Tiffany.
  • Bad "Bad Acting":
    • Shortly before Claire’s eviction, Alyssa points out that they’re going to be the first all-minority final seven, and jokingly asks if she’s the next target because she’s the only one left who isn’t black. Derek really overacts as he tries to pretend he didn’t notice this (he obviously knew, as he was in the Cookout alliance whose goal was to guarantee an all-black final six). It’s a miracle Alyssa didn’t catch on after how obvious his lying was during this.
    • When Hannah is on the block before her eviction, she knows that the entire house is trying to get her out, and this has her extremely stressed out to almost the point of tears. After Kyland uses the Veto on Xavier, Derek goes up as a replacement nomination next to her and shouts “THAT’S OKAY WITH ME!” while laughing joyously. Obviously realizing that gloating about his safety right in front of a sweet girl who’s terrified and nearly in tears might be a bad look for him, he transparently attempts to backpedal and tries to pretend that he’s scared too, once again in an extremely over-the-top, dramatic way. The audience was not convinced, especially when he went right back to his gloating after she left.
  • Camp Gay: His voice and mannerisms make it obvious.
  • Effeminate Misogynistic Guy: He's very much a Camp Gay and also made tons of sexist comments about women in the house.
  • Fat Bastard / Fat Idiot: He is the fattest houseguest this season as well being rather rude and idiotic due to his misogynistic comments and constantly saying that he did a lot for the alliance, but he actually didn't do anything.
  • Foil: To his best friend Frenchie ironically. While Frenchie made plenty of enemies by making deals he could not keep and tried to be (mostly) everyone's friend, Big D has relied solely on his social game to get him through each week without even being considered a target. Some people think he's likely to make it to the end if he plays his cards right and sticks with the all African American Cookout alliance, he'll ride to the end. There’s also the fact that Frenchie went out second and was perceived as playing too hard, while Derek F went out second-to-last and was perceived as not playing.
  • Foregone Conclusion: With how poorly he did in challenges, his misogynistic comments, and generally doing nothing for his alliance all season, his loss to Xavier was all but obvious.
  • Gentle Giant: Originally thought of as this, but ultimately subverted. At the beginning of the season he was considered one of the nicer guys in the house, a part of the Cookout, and was friends with just about everyone. While his best friend Frenchie made deals he had to go back on, Derek F had yet to truly anger anyone in the house except Tiffany. But then the feeds showed he was much nastier than people thought, particularly in his attitude toward most of the women in the house. Even on the live shows he subverted this by making misogynistic comments toward Tiffany, Hannah, and Claire as well as other female houseguests.
  • Innocently Insensitive: During the final five, Hannah is on the block and looks like she’s so scared that she’s about to cry. When Kyland uses the veto on Xavier, DF ends up on the block next to her, and responds to this with excitement and laughter, clearly having zero worry that he’s in any actual danger. While it was likely just his natural reaction in the heat of the moment, it did come across as rubbing it in that Hannah was so doomed he had nothing to worry about. Tiffany even acknowledges this moment when they watch the clip in the Jury House, showing some shock at his insensitivity.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Somehow managed to convince himself that he did more for the Cookout than anyone except Xavier. To recap, his contributions involved being part of the initial discussions of creating the Cookout, and then... absolutely nothing. Zero HOH or veto wins, no partnering up with a non-Cookout member to gain their trust and betray them, nothing. Both Tiffany and Azah call him on this at different points, but he genuinely did seem to believe that he did more for the mission than Tiffany, Hannah, and Kyland despite those three making so many tangible moves toward the Cookout’s success while his tangible moves amounted to zero. Even Azah at least partnered up with Britini to get her out, and she was still aware that everyone else except DF did more than her. How he came to the conclusion that he did the most other than Xavier is anyone’s guess.
  • Moral Myopia: Believes that he is a shoe-in for “America’s Favorite Player” and assumes that the audience loves him. He also believes that the audience hates Tiffany as much as he does and that she doesn’t stand a chance for AFP. So upon seeing Tiffany win AFP and then learning about the audience’s opinions of them after leaving the house, that he was disliked for his sexist comments and attitudes while she was loved for her kindness to the nicest houseguests and for sacrificing so much for the Cookout, he is very confused.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Basically guaranteed Xavier was not only going to win, but win unanimously by making puzzling dumb misogynist comments and telling Azah to her face that he didn't want to take her.
  • Slut-Shaming: Of the “wearing sexy clothing” variety against Whitney, when he criticized her for wearing a revealing top as part of her workout attire, and egged on other houseguests to join in on shaming her.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Thought he did more for the Cookout than any of the women in the group plus Kyland and that he was one of the crucial pieces to its success, despite barely doing anything for most of the game. He also was worried about being seen as a threat for coming in second during a veto competition.
    • The Load: What he actually is, as he won zero challenges all season, and the only reason he made it to the final two was because he was easy to beat.
  • Straw Misogynist: Says very... "Colourful" things about the women in the house minus Azah and Britini often calling them all bitches. And unlike Brent, nobody calls him out on it.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Frenchie.
  • Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing: Barely plays the game at all yet makes it to the final two due to Xavier wanting to keep him and Azah as easy final opponents to beat. Unlike Azah however, he is not self-aware about this and actually thinks he did a lot, hence Small Name, Big Ego above. Needless to say, his loss to Xavier was easily predictable.

The Jury

Azah Awasum (Evicted HG #14, Juror #9)

  • All Love Is Unrequited: Spends most of the season pining for Xavier, but he never shows any signs of reciprocating those feelings.
  • Became Their Own Antithesis: In her pre-season interviews she said that she wanted a black woman to win this season, but ironically every significant action she took in the game was to ensure that none of the black women on her season could win. She sided with the Cookout men over Tiffany to keep her on the outs, leading to Tiffany’s eviction, used her one HOH to ensure that Hannah would lose purely out of spite, and gave up on winning herself because she felt that Xavier deserved it the most, even planning to take him to final two over Derek F despite knowing that she would probably lose to Xavier but win over Derek F.
  • Evil Is Petty: Outright admits that she is a petty person, and while she is usually a Nice Girl otherwise, she was seen as an antagonist in the end for her persistent one-sided cattiness toward the well-liked Hannah throughout the season, and even being the one to send Hannah home when she was already being targeted by all of the men and the last player most live feed viewers actually liked.
  • Grew a Spine: After being very passive and letting most insensitive comments from her friends slide throughout the game, she does finally call out Derek F near the end when he tries to claim that he “carried” her to the end.
  • Jerkass to One: Is a sweet person overall and very much a Nice Girl, but she gets very catty about Hannah behind her back, often referring to her as a “little girl” and being dismissive of her, tried to exclude her from the dominant alliance, had no problem lying to her despite priding herself on never lying to anyone else, and even used her one HOH reign to make sure she got evicted when Xavier and Kyland were both bigger threats.
  • The Load: Didn’t win any HOH or veto competitions until the Cookout had already succeeded, making her nearly as unhelpful to the alliance’s success as Derek F. And from there she was still mostly just another vote for anything that Xavier decided.
  • Kick the Dog: After Hannah is evicted, Azah laughs at her for looking like “a scared little girl” to the other houseguests, something that many viewers felt basically came across as Evil Is Petty for being mean-spirited and lacking gameplay purpose.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: Azah's relative was a polygamist, resulting in her having around three hundred relatives.
  • Nice Girl: For the most part she is this, being levelheaded and kind to nearly everyone.
  • No True Scotsman: Makes it clear that she doesn’t want Hannah in the Cookout alliance, an alliance meant to guarantee Big Brother’s first black winner, for reasons that she never completely specified. Possibly because of Hannah being the youngest houseguest and Azah dismissing her maturity because of that, possibly because of jealousy over her friendship with Xavier, possibly because of the initial Cookout discussions not accounting for Hannah due to uncertainty of her heritage (once Hannah confirmed she is half black half Indian, the group accepted her), or most likely a combination of the above. In any case, Azah spends the first half of the game referring to the alliance as “The Cookout plus Hannah”, and even afterward seems to only begrudgingly tolerate her presence in the group. This makes her notable as the only Cookout member to engage in any gatekeeping toward the group’s membership.
  • Pet the Dog: Although Azah wasn’t exactly a villain, she did still end up being viewed as a bit of an antagonist by many viewers for how much unwarranted meanness she showed toward other women in the house during conversations, most egregiously Hannah, but also Tiffany, Alyssa, and Whitney to lesser extents. However, one major exception to this pattern of behavior was how she treated Britini. Britini was arguably the biggest Butt-Monkey of the whole season, getting put on the block frequently for no good reason and not getting much respect in general by the houseguests. Yet Azah always stuck by her side as a true friend, always being there for her and making sure that Britini knew someone in the house cared about her as the rest of the house more or less either ignored her or actively targeted her. So in spite of her catty side, the one woman Azah did support was the one who needed it the most.
  • Team Chef: Seemed to be considered the best cook in the house by her fellow houseguests.
  • Tender Tears: Azah's an empathetic person, and she was genuinely upset when Britini got targeted by Tiffany and Derek X in Balancing the Math and was then put on the block two weeks in a row. She shed tears even when giving Britini a shoulder to cry on.
  • Token Good Teammate: Eventually subverted. At the beginning she was the only popular Joker, proved by the fan polls, though that was likely due to the fact that Britini and Derek F were disliked by fans. After proving to be The Load to the Cookout alliance along with being a Jerkass to Hannah, Azah ended up becoming disliked along with Derek F and ironically BRITINI became the popular one.
  • Took a Level in Badass: She beat Xavier of all people during the second Double eviction.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: While her confidence noticeably increasing toward the end of the game is mostly seen as a good thing, it does lead to a few moments where she comes across as a legitimate Jerkass. The most notable being when she mocks how scared Hannah looked before her eviction, even though Azah was the one who put Hannah on the block to begin with and the feeds show that Hannah never really did anything to Azah to deserve this antagonism.
  • Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing: Barely plays the game at all yet makes it to the final three due to Xavier wanting to keep her and Derek F as easy final opponents to beat. To her credit however, she is humorously self-aware about it, and jokes during her speech on the block during final four that she and Derek F “cried, cooked, and napped” their way to final four.
  • X Must Not Win: Not in regards to the player actually named X, but to Hannah. Shortly before Tiffany’s eviction, she said that she was fine with getting fourth place as long as Hannah didn’t win, and was going to try her best on the next HOH competition to ensure she would go home.

Kyland Scott Young (Evicted HG #13, Juror #8)

Punishments Taken: Coin of Destiny note

  • 0% Approval Rating: In the Jokers polls he became the most reviled houseguest for his irritating chatter, his villainy, being a bad friend, and sucking up to players for Jury votes. His worst offense was insulting Xavier by bringing up how his nephew will react to the blindside and being a total Sore Loser whom Julie had to forcefully beckon out of the house.
  • Alpha Bastard: Easily the meanest houseguest of the season, talking rudely both in from and behind his other houseguests' back.
  • Arch-Enemy: Frenchie is his. Also Britini.
  • Big Bad: As the most major clearly antagonistic houseguest of the season, he could be considered this.
  • The Bully: Britni sees him as this.
  • The Corrupter: Sarah Beth got a lot meaner when Ky started talking to her.
  • The Dragon: To Xavier and Tiffany of The Cookout.
  • Innocently Insensitive: He genuinely didn’t seem to realize just how insulting it was to tell Tiffany, Hannah, and Derek F to their faces multiple times that they weren’t good enough competitors to deserve to win the season, especially Tiffany and Hannah who worked so hard all season to help him and the Cookout get to the end. Viewers tend to agree with his assessment of Derek F, although still think that it was unnecessary for him to be so blunt about it.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Even when it became abundantly clear that Xavier was the biggest threat in the house, he still chose to target Tiffany and Hannah during his third HOH reign instead. The reason? He apparently saw Xavier as his only Worthy Opponent and wanted to take him to the end. One small problem... getting Tiffany OR Hannah evicted guaranteed the jury would have all voted against him and caused him to lose. Britini already considered him an Arch-Enemy for being responsible for her eviction, Derek X and Claire were good friends with both Tiffany and Hannah during the game and he would have almost certainly earned their ire for evicting one of them, Tiffany and/or Hannah themselves would have shared that ire as well, and Alyssa had already made it clear that she was both rooting for Xavier and wanted Kyland to lose. With Sarah Beth and possibly one or two of the last jurors as his only possible jury votes in that scenario, it was extremely evident that he could not win this way. Still, he believed that saving his biggest competition for last was a good gameplay move.
  • Jerkass: Every time he's talking he's insulting or being rude to someone.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • When Hannah is about to get evicted and is already on the verge of tears, Kyland gives a speech to everyone about how much more Derek F did for the Cookout than her, despite the feeds proving this to be obviously false. Likely it was an attempt to justify his decision of voting her out after his earlier statements of wanting to save the strongest competitors for last, but all it did was invalidate her accomplishments and make him look like a jerk.
    • He once again needlessly diminishes Hannah’s accomplishments at the Jury roundtable by saying that she and Derek F played “equal games”, despite Hannah very clearly doing more for the Cookout and having obviously worked much harder than Derek F. Alyssa’s baffled reaction to the absurdity of this statement even became a meme.
    • Corrupting Sarah Beth by getting in her head and making her basically shoot her own game in the rear. This is easily one of the worst things he's done as Sarah Beth was genuinely nice before Kyland messed with her.
    • After his eviction, Kyland continues to double down on his stance that Tiffany wouldn’t have been a worthy winner for the season in his interviews. This is after he’s no longer in the game and has no need to target her anymore. It shows that he just simply doesn’t respect her as a person.
    • Xavier may not be the nicest person game-wise, but telling him to his face he was a poor role model for his nephew and refusing to back down when questioned about it, which nearly led to Xavier's expulsion too. It took Julie angrily telling Kyland to leave the house that he finally backed off and left.
  • Moral Event Horizon:
    • Although his Jerkass tendencies came out as the season went on, many believed he crossed this on his way out of the house when he told Xavier he was a bad role model to his nephew, given that Xavier’s nephew’s father had recently passed away.
    • From a gameplay perspective, his nomination of Tiffany and Hannah when he became HOH for the third time could be considered the point that many fans gave up on any hope of him not being the Big Bad. While he was still a Jerkass at several points before this, he was ultimately still working toward the Cookout’s goal of guaranteeing that Big Brother would have a black winner like the rest of his alliance was, albeit more villainous about it. But putting up the two most likable remaining houseguests on the block together, including one who is so sweet she’s outright The Cutie, even when it crosses into Stupid Evil for him to do this? (Since they were his only hope against Xavier, as Derek F and Azah had made it clear that they were too loyal to X to ever target him.) Most fans considered him irredeemable after that.
  • Nausea Fuel: He "sniffs" literally everything! What do we mean by this? He sniffs food, clothes, and even his shoe. Eww...
  • Out of Focus: After his first HOH reign ended, he didn’t get much focus in the episodes. This changed after his second Head of Household reign.
  • The Pig-Pen: Implied by his sniffing fixation.
  • The Man Behind the Woman: It's clear Sarah Beth's entire HOH run was what was best for him and Xavier, not Sarah Beth herself. All from planting a few seeds and stimulating them.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: The mentality that ended up being his undoing. Kyland saw Xavier as his only Worthy Opponent and made sure to take out all of his biggest competition to get them to the final two. Xavier had a more pragmatic approach, however, and cut Kyland at final four once he had outlived his usefulness.
  • Professional Butt-Kisser: How people say he's trying to earn Jury votes. Namely by throwing a vote for Claire when Derek X was very likely to leave at 10 houseguests left anyway just so he would get his Jury vote.
  • Sore Loser: As one could probably expect from reading his other tropes, Kyland did not take his loss well. He went out of the house insulting Xavier and telling him that he was a bad role model for his nephew, clearly trying to hit Xavier’s Berserk Button as one last Jerkass moment from him for the season. Julie had to tell him that he needed to exit the house in a more scolding tone for him to finally back off and actually leave.
  • Too Dumb to Live: During the final four, Derek F attempts to make a final two deal with Kyland. DF holds the sole vote to evict for that week, meaning that Kyland’s time in the game completely depends on staying in DF’s good graces. Kyland flat out rejects the deal though because, as he tells DF, he doesn’t consider him a Worthy Opponent for the final two. Naturally, DF votes to evict him when the time comes, and Kyland is somehow surprised by this. Julie Chen even questions this decision in Kyland’s post-eviction interview, and when Kyland responds by saying that it’s because he values being honest with people, Julie then goes on to question why he was perfectly okay with lying throughout the rest of the game but not in that one moment when he actually needed to, to which Kyland doesn’t have a good answer.
  • The Unsmile: He has a huge but obviously forced smile on his face after getting evicted and getting interviewed by Julie, clearly trying to remain pleasant despite his anger.

  • The Baby of the Bunch: She's the youngest houseguest overall of the season. She is only 21 years of during the time of the competition.
  • Badass Adorable:
    • Her excited reaction to winning her first Veto is absolutely made of this.
Hannah: [whispering to the camera] I won the Golden Power of Veto? What?! I actually won something?! What?!? I beat Kyland and Xavier - are you kidding me?!? Now I have the power to send Sarah Beth home and I’m so excited about it... I’m really excited!! *dances*
    • Her diss to Starter Villain Brent was also full of Badass Adorable energy.
Hannah: [to Diary Room camera] Everything that comes out of his mouth makes me sick. Even though he thinks he’s all that and a bag of chips, he’s barely a cracker!
    • And her reaction to winning HOH too, where she exclaims “YAYY!!... YAYY!! YAYY!!” and literally bounces across the room in joy.
  • Break the Cutie: When she was nominated next to Xavier, her little heart snapped in two. Then again you can see she was about to cry when she was evicted in another unanimous.
  • The Cutie: The youngest of the cast, very small in stature with a baby face, often wears cute hairdos and outfits, and is as much of a Nice Girl as one can be on Big Brother while still playing the game and manipulating when needed. She also earned the adoration of several other housemates including Derek X, Claire, Tiffany, and even Alyssa and Xavier of all people for her cute personality and cute quirks such as accurately imitating how the houseguests walk and goofy dance moves. One of the most evident incidents of her status as this was when Derek F accidentally knocked her out of the hammock and caused her to hit her head, when Tiffany stepped in and cared for her like a doting mother.
  • The Fashionista: Said she was a fashion student day 1. She's not, but she used to be a personal stylist and often wears on-trend outfits in the house.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Frequently underestimates her own likability. During the game itself she stated that she probably doesn’t have any fans (she was given reason to believe this - her zing from Zingbot was “Hannah who?”), and after being evicted she said that while she still had feelings for Derek X, she feared that he wouldn’t even want to talk to her after she helped get him evicted. Based on her getting quite a fanbase on Twitter and other social media sites, and Derek X first stating that he had some interest in Hannah during his exit interview and then seeming to be impressed by the genius tactics of the Cookout when Tiffany explained it to him, Hannah was likely wrong on both counts.
  • Informed Flaw: The Zingbot implied that she was irrelevant with the “Hannah Who?” zing, despite her and Tiffany doing more strategizing and playing the game harder than anyone else left, and being an audience-favorite duo for this. She even ended up with the second-biggest Instagram following after the show, only having less followers than Derek X.
  • In Love with the Mark: Clearly in love with Derek X, but had to help get him evicted due to them being paired up in the Cookout plan. She ultimately carried out the mission, but was so guilty about it that she cried about it afterward to Tiffany and kept saying that he deserved better.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Has some of this with Derek X. The first moment is when she’s sitting next to DX and Derek F asks what DX’s type is, to which DX responds “tall, slender...” Hannah looks sad for a moment, but she quickly hides it and just asks “so Claire?” Hannah still ends up having some Ship Tease with DX after this anyway, but when the show is over DX ultimately does end up dating Claire, and Hannah doesn’t show any hard feelings over it.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: Got a concussion from Derek F being scared of a beetle and knocking her out of the hammock, and barely cries out in pain.
  • Moe Couplet: Tiffany tends to be at her sweetest whenever she’s interacting with Hannah, and Hannah is basically already Moe herself, so the two tend to form this.
  • Nice Girl:
    • Throwing a sympathy vote for Derek X knowing he was going home, felt guilty having to say goodbye to Derek, and despite Sarah Beth treating her allies, particularly Derek X, like trash, invited her as well as Kyland, and X to watch Dear Evan Hansen with her because they were the nominees, showing she's easily one of the sweetest people left. Aww...
    • Goes out of her way to repeatedly correct houseguests who misgender former Big Brother contestant Paul Abrahamian, making sure that they are respecting Paul’s they/them pronouns.
    • Despite being the most visibly devastated of anyone during an eviction (in part due to going out in a double, which didn’t give her time to mentally prepare for it like the houseguests typically get to), she still spends her time walking out the door reassuring everyone there that they shouldn’t feel bad, telling them “it’s okay” and “no hard feelings at all”. While all of the houseguests, even the villainous ones, had a graceful exit this season (barring Kyland of course), Hannah still trying to make sure no one was feeling bad even while looking and sounding like she could start crying at any second was especially nice behavior during that kind of exit.
  • No-Respect Guy:
    • Despite being one of the most proactive players for the Cookout’s benefit and the one mainly responsible for taking out their biggest comp threat, she was put on the block right after the group succeeded and then was the second one evicted from the group after Tiffany. Kyland hammered this home shortly before she left by claiming that Derek F did more for the Cookout than her (offscreen, according to him), despite this being demonstrably false.
    • She also has this on a meta level for the episode editors keeping her Out of Focus and leaving most of her strategic moves out of the episodes, requiring fans to watch the live feeds to see them, and then excluding her from social media posts celebrating the Cookout. She does get enough love from fans to counter this though.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: She attempted this as a strategy, but it didn’t really work. Her strategy was to downplay her intelligence and act a bit ditzy so that she wouldn’t be seen as threatening, but even while downplaying her smarts, she still managed to come across as super intelligent to most of the houseguests anyway. Unfortunately in the one case it did work, to Kyland, it ended up backfiring since he was seeking out a Worthy Opponent for final two and dismissed her because of how much she downplayed herself (though considering he also dismissed the openly smart and strategic competitor Tiffany, who wasn’t at all downplaying those strengths, he likely would have underestimated and dismissed Hannah either way).
  • Oh, Crap!: Poor Hannah looks like she’s about to have a heart attack when Julie announces the second double eviction, when Hannah is the house’s biggest target and she knows it. And then she has another moment of this shortly after that when Azah puts her on the block, and again when she loses the Veto competition. It wasn’t a good night for her.
  • Pet the Dog: Her interactions with Derek X show she really cares about him.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Unlike most examples of this trope, it didn’t seem to be something that she did intentionally, but nonetheless her eyes got very big and very sad when Azah put her on the block, because she knew that she was basically guaranteed eviction within the hour unless she could win the veto.
  • The Smart Girl: Is a grad student at 21.
  • Token Good Teammate: Is basically this to The Cookout being the most grounded and moral.
  • Token Wholesome: Compared to the rest of her cast (and Big Brother players in general) who often like to hang out by the pool in skimpy clothes, Hannah never does and tends to dress in modest baggy clothes.
  • Ship Tease: With Derek X. The feeling was definitely mutual and while Hannah's loyalty was ultimately to The Cookout, she voted for Claire over DX, during his eviction knowing perfectly well he would likely leave as an act of kindness.
  • Undying Loyalty: Refused to turn on Tiffany even when the rest of the Cookout was targeting her, despite that being bad for her placement in the Cookout’s social ladder. Unfortunately this was likely one of the reasons that she ended up getting voted out right after Tiffany.
  • Unknown Rival: Had no idea that Azah disliked her so much until after the game was over, and had no issues with Azah herself, hence her surprise at Azah targeting her during the double eviction. At least Azah seems to have warmed up to her a bit post-game, though.

  • Anti-Hero: Even though she did a lot of backstabbing throughout the game and her ruthless strategy was responsible for getting multiple fan favorite houseguests out, by the end she was a fan favorite herself and seen as a clear hero in this season. She went out of her way to guarantee Big Brother would have its first black winner after all, and she was even noble enough to hold herself to the standards that she put on the other alliance members, even at the worst moments such as being forced to nominate Claire and heavily sabotage her own game in the process. By the time only the Cookout alliance remained, she and Hannah were easily the two most sympathetic houseguests left, and the majority of fans were rooting for them to win from there.
  • Anti-Villain: Tiffany wants black people to get far into the game this season. This is a very noble goal, especially because there haven’t been any black winners in (non-celebrity) BB yet. Although she has good intentions, she still has to backstab and betray others in order to achieve her goals.
  • Breakout Character: Tiffany won America's Favorite Houseguest prize, earning $50,000. She also went on to compete on The Challenge.
  • The Chessmaster: She came up with the cookout's main strategy, which is to nominate cookout members with someone outside of the alliance in order to keep their alliance hidden. This strategy worked in her favor and she managed to successfully keep the cookout hidden till they were the only ones left.
  • Consolation Prize: Wins America's Favourite Houseguest over Baby D, likely due to how controversial her exit was and how unnecessarily mean it seemed.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Even though she betrayed Claire and put her up as a replacement nominee, she genuinely feels bad for her and still thinks very highly of her as a friend.
  • Honor Before Reason: When forced to choose between nominating (and basically eliminating) either a member of her alliance, the Cookout, or her best friend in the game, Claire, the best decision from a pragmatic standpoint would have been saving Claire, due to the Cookout openly planning to turn on her and send her home next no matter what choice she makes, compared to Claire who would almost certainly fight to protect her until the end. Despite this, she still nominates Claire despite knowing that it’s going to cost her the game. She more or less even lampshades it during her conversation with Claire by saying that she fully expects to be sent home herself right after sending Claire home. This is because she believes in the Cookout’s mission of guaranteeing Big Brother’s first black winner over her own chance at victory, and basically chooses to sacrifice herself to better ensure that goal is achieved.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Derek X and Claire had Undying Loyalty towards her - and clearly would have fought to take her farther in the game. And because she chose to evict them, sure enough there was nobody who was going to take her off the block and ends up being gunned for - while Xavier had Azah and Derek X as well as even Kyland. However, unlike most examples, she was completely aware that this was going to happen and did it anyway for an Honor Before Reason motivation.
  • Mama Bear: She got like this over Hannah a bit, considering that doing something bad to Hannah was typically the fastest way to earn Tiffany’s ire. For example, from the moment that Sarah Beth tried to target Hannah, Tiffany openly hated Sarah Beth for the whole rest of the game until the Jury House. And when Derek F accidentally knocked Hannah out of the hammock and caused her to get a concussion, Tiffany went on multiple tangents about how irresponsible he was between moments of comforting her. For all of this, she earned Hannah’s Undying Loyalty too.
  • Moe Couplet: Tiffany tends to be at her sweetest whenever she’s interacting with Hannah, and Hannah is basically already Moe herself, so the two tend to form this.
  • Morality Pet: Tiffany can be rude, abrasive, and manipulative, but she has an obvious soft spot for certain players that brings out a much kinder side to her personality. Hannah seemed to be her most major morality pet, followed by Claire and then Derek X in that order. Her tendency to grow attached to the kinder players in the game shifted her perception to many viewers from being a villain to more of an antihero.
  • No-Respect Guy: Despite working with Xavier to mastermind the Cookout in the first place, and needing to get her hands dirty more than anyone else in the group, Derek F and to a lesser extent Xavier tended to heavily downplay her contributions to the Cookout’s success. Indeed, Derek F claimed to have been more important than her to the Cookout’s success, despite being the only one in the group to not befriend and betray an ally for the Cookout’s benefit, which Tiffany called him out on. The cherry on top was when the group evicted her first despite being one of the main reasons they succeeded.
  • Older and Wiser: The oldest of the cast, even older than Frenchie at 40, and yet tries to keep a calm, composed mind. She's also showing strong strategist signs, forming multiple alliances, duos, and unlike Frenchie, has done a stronger job at balancing them without going overboard.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Her wanting to keep Derek X over Claire could be seen as this, despite intending to use him to win competitions, though ultimately she cast her vote to evict him.
    • Her relationships with Claire and Hannah in general both show how sweet she can be. While she needed to nominate Claire and get her evicted, she clearly felt terrible about it and only went through with it for the sake of the Cookout mission. With Hannah, she genuinely wanted her in the final two with her, and when Kyland put them on the block together, Tiffany made a few feeble attempts to stay but didn’t seem to have the heart to push against Hannah that much. In interviews she said that she was planning to push for the Jury to vote for Hannah if she still got to final two. And when Hannah follows her to Jury, Tiffany just says “Chaddha...” with a lot of sadness in her voice and a big hug.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain:
    • Accused Sarah Beth of faking her bisexuality on the feeds (as well as faking having a girlfriend), arguing it as proof she isn’t to be trusted.
    • Playing into multiple biphobic stereotypes on top of invalidating Sarah Beth’s sexuality.
  • Sadistic Choice: Gets put into a particularly bad one during her second HOH tenure. As a part of the six member Cookout alliance, and her best friend Claire outside of that alliance, she initially put up Alyssa (the only remaining player who is neither in the Cookout alliance nor a close friend) against Xavier as a pawn, knowing that the Cookout would save him. Unfortunately, Alyssa won the veto, forcing Tiffany to replace Alyssa with either another Cookout member, turning the entire alliance against her, or Claire, losing her most genuine ally and best friend by her own hand. Either decision makes her look terrible, almost certainly costing her any possible way to keep good will with the jury.
    • Shoot the Dog: Chooses to nominate Claire despite Claire being her most loyal ally, and Tiffany being well aware of that.
  • Team Mom: Served this role to the group of Hannah, Claire, and Derek X. It was especially obvious when Hannah got her concussion, and Tiffany went full “mom” mode in rushing to her aid, holding her in her arms, practically cooing at her, and making sure she was okay.
  • Token Minority: The token “older person” of this season.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: While her dislike of Sarah Beth was justified during SB’s time as a villain, Tiffany was still particularly mean to her in the early game before SB did anything to deserve it. Likely it was because SB openly discussed targeting Hannah, who Tiffany had become a Mama Bear for, but nonetheless many saw Tiffany’s excessive meanness to her as Disproportionate Retribution. After the game ended, Tiffany apologized for her behavior toward Sarah Beth in the early game, saying that she acted that way because she saw her as a threat to her own game and took it too far. The Jury House segments already showed Tiffany being much nicer to her, but after the game ended entirely, Tiffany has made it clear that she knows she was in the wrong, and now seems to consider Sarah Beth a friend and shows a lot more respect toward her.
  • Undying Loyalty: For all of her cutthroat nature throughout the game, even being forced to evict Claire for her alliance despite how much she obviously cares about her, the one houseguest she seems to never be willing to betray is Hannah. When the two are put on the block together, Tiffany mostly just accepts her fate and prepares to butter up the Jury for Hannah if she got to final two.

  • Big Damn Kiss: To Christian after his eviction.
  • Captain Oblivious: Completely oblivious to the big alliance in the house, all the way until the end. Even when she was the only one left in the house by herself against the six Cookout members! Even when Claire, the only other non-Cookout member left seemed to figure it out and tried to spell it out to her, it clearly went over Alyssa’s head. It got to such an extent that she didn’t even question it at all when Tiffany sent her own best friend Claire home for seemingly no reason.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Seemed to gain a ton of respect for Hannah after Hannah got her evicted, and even said that she was going to vote for her to win if she made it to the final two since she considered her the best player in the game after that move.
  • Irony: Frenchie revealed he put her up out of concern she was in a showmance with Travis, only for her to point out that she wasn't in one. After Travis is evicted, she ends up having a showmance alongside Christian, another target Frenchie wanted to target.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Is a very attractive swimwear designer and often likes to model swimwear on the show.
  • Promoted Fangirl: States she is a Big Brother fan.
  • Ship Tease/Will They or Won't They?: With Christian.
  • Spanner in the Works: By winning the Veto competition that she did, she inadvertently ruined the entire endgame for the Cookout women without even being aware of the Cookout’s existence. Her Veto win forces Tiffany to nominate Claire in Alyssa’s place, requiring Hannah to win the next HOH to ensure that Tiffany remains safe (when they otherwise would have had Claire as a number), which then leaves Tiffany as the only player viable to compete in the final 6 HOH who wasn’t going to target her and Hannah. When Tiffany doesn’t win that competition, her and Hannah’s games are both ended shortly after.

  • Cassandra Truth: She knew that she was toast, and told everyone that Xavier was going to win if they didn't go for him next. Guess who won.
  • The Cutie: A very cute and goofy dork who also happens to be one of the most genuinely kind houseguests. It’s little wonder that she got along so well with similar houseguests like Derek X and Hannah.
  • Graceful Loser: While understandably upset when her best friend Tiffany puts her on the block and ultimately gets her evicted, Claire does not hold it against her, and remains kind and supportive to the end. She hears out Tiffany’s reasoning (not wanting to be the one to evict the first black houseguest), has empathy for her stance, spends her final speech imploring that the group watch out for Xavier (who was the biggest threat to her friends Tiffany and Hannah’s chances of winning), and speaks highly of Tiffany even after eviction despite the betrayal.
  • Herbivores Are Friendly: Revealed to be a Vegan in the clip show episode.
  • Lipstick Bisexual: Is a feminine bisexual woman, and has said that she is attracted to both Lipstick Lesbian and Butch Lesbian types herself.
  • Meta Girl: As a big fan of the show, she is well aware of how it works and is able to make meta jokes. For example, she makes a joke about how one of the clips of her crying is going to end up in the clip show episode... which we eventually end up seeing in that clip show episode.
  • Nice Girl: One of the nicest houseguests, even rivaling Derek X in terms of likability by the cast.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Popular preseason, when fans found out about her superfan status.
  • Statuesque Stunner: The tallest woman.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Tiffany.

  • Cosplay Otaku Girl: She's a huge Anime fan, with her intro highlighting her hobby of cosplay and creating her own outfits as a seamstress.
  • Corrupt the Cutie: A victim of it. Ever since Kyland got into her head, she hasn't been the same, often driving away fans who tolerated and liked her before and becoming essentially a villain.
  • The Cutie: She serves as this season's archetype, being friendly, positive, and cute as a button. At least until the game started going to her head...
    • The Fake Cutie: She seemed to be like this at her worst, showing No Sympathy for Derek X, smashing a razor on the live feeds, and treating everyone who's not Kyland like crap.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: Basically the main antagonist of the middle of the season due to her evicting fan favorite Derek X while also targeting fellow fan favorite Claire, and becoming a Jerkass in general. Considering she did all of this under the influence of Kyland, this was one of the earlier signs that Kyland would end up surpassing her as a Jerkass and become the Big Bad.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: This trope was essentially what caused her Start of Darkness. She went into the game wanting to have the role of The Cutie this season, but due to Hannah being seen as The Cutie as well, Sarah Beth saw her as a threat to her game plan and tried to target her. This earned her the ire of Tiffany, who had already grown very attached to Hannah, and then Tiffany’s friendships with Claire and Derek X got the whole group to dislike SB. This led to SB going to Kyland for a friend in the game, and the rest is history.
  • Nice Girl: Zigzagged. She starts out as one of the nicest houseguests, but then she gets progressively cutthroat as the game goes on to the point of becoming a clear villain and the season’s Disc-One Final Boss. Once in the jury house and away from her Toxic Friend Influence Kyland, she was able to show her true colors to her fellow houseguests and became as kind as she initially was again. Even Tiffany, who was suspicious of Sarah Beth in the beginning, was able to change her opinion on her. It's telling when most people blamed her poor gameplay and mean moments on Kyland, though she is ultimately still responsible for choosing to become as mean as she did.
  • Puppet Queen: Her HOH reign was exactly what the Cookout wanted.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: HOO BOY! She started off as one of the most genuinely sweet houseguests, then Kyland befriends her and by the time of her HOH she is unapologetic in essentially saying "America can wipe their asses with the BB Bucks" and sending Derek X out the door.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Seems to have mellowed out significantly in the Jury House segments away from Kyland’s influence. Her discussion of the emotionally abusive tactics that Kyland used to keep her under his thumb shows an awareness of how he got her to become a villain, and her talking about it regained her some sympathy from fans after she had ended her time as a houseguest as a full Heel.

  • Asian and Nerdy: Derek is very endearing and dorky and he wears glasses, which add to his nerdy persona.
  • History Repeats: The most beloved houseguest is the second juror just like Da'Vonne in 22.
  • Nice Guy: He really cares about people in the house and even shows his targets and pawns due respect.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Zig-Zagged. Everyone generally calls him either DX or Little/Baby D but a few people, Tiffany in particular, call him Derek X.
  • The Scapegoat: Derek was targeted by Frenchie out of paranoid and was nearly close to being on the block until he won the veto, and Derek F helped him to paint a big target on his chest. Thankfully, enough people started questioning this, and after taking himself off the block, he started integrating himself with more people and now has a solid group of allies around him.
  • Ship Tease: Has had many of these moments with both Hannah and Claire.
  • The Smart Guy: Derek X is very analytical and very good at formulating complex strategies or simple power moves to stay on top of the game, and he stays well-informed.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Some assumed he would have the stereotypical male geek physique and not do well in challenges. With two Vetoes under his belt and one HoH in the first five weeks, they were proven wrong.
  • Too Cool to Live: A non-lethal variant. The guy was a competitive beast, he came extremely close to winning at least three HoHs with one under his belt and two Vetoes making him barring Christian, one of the best physical and mental threats. So naturally, the Cookout wanted him gone.

HOH Evicted Under: KYLAND
Finished: 11th (Evicted HG #6, Juror #1)
Voted For (As Juror): XAVIER

  • Butt-Monkey: Just like Derek F, she refused to flip on Frenchie and was targeted for it. Unfortunately this resulted in her getting put on the block two weeks back to back. And then when she tries to win safety for the week through the Wild-card challenge, Tiffany and Derek X team up to ensure she does not. Then, when Derek X wins HoH she gets put up for a third time, ending with her saying "Nobody else in this house knows what it's like to be put up on the block more than once, let alone three times!"
  • Genius Bruiser: Not only is she a 4th degree black belt in Karate, but she's also a Valedictorian at her college she went to.
  • Genki Girl: In the Jury House segments she comes across as very upbeat and excitable. She sometimes did in the game itself too, as long as she wasn’t on the block.
  • History Repeats: A person on the spectrum is the first juror the second season in a row.
  • Nice Girl: Notably, when Hannah is dealing with stalking and harassment from Brent in the early game, many of the houseguests either think that Hannah is in the wrong (such as Sarah Beth and Azah) or think that she’s being overdramatic about it. Britini, however, takes Hannah’s concerns completely seriously and makes it clear that she’s there for her if she needs support.
  • Prone to Tears: Cries whenever she touches the block, pawn or not.
  • The Smart Girl: Booksmart and athletically smart anyway. She graduated at the top of her college valedictorian and has Autism.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Seems much, much happier in the Jury House than she ever did as a houseguest. The difference is almost night and day, since before eviction she seemed stressed most of the time and did a lot of crying, while after eviction she is a straight up Genki Girl in the Jury House segments and seems to be having a blast. Likely because she was constantly under stress of being evicted while playing, which she no longer has to worry about after it actually happened.
  • Undying Loyalty: To her team, which is why Kyland and Xavier put her up.

HOH Evicted Under: DEREK X.
Finished: 12th (Evicted HG #5)

  • Action Hero: Christian won three competitions in the span of four weeks. If he had stayed longer, he would have likely become one of the most dominating dangerous physical competitors of the season. It's understandable why Derek felt the need to get rid of him early on because he would have been difficult to take out.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: For the most part, Christian is a genuinely nice guy. Just don't backdoor him. While he ultimately accepted his eviction he said that Derek X was a coward.
  • Big Damn Kiss: With Alyssa following his eviction.
  • Graceful Loser: Christian took being evicted reasonably well, but he didn't like that Derek X backdoored him. He called him a coward for the move.
  • Nice Guy: Christian is one of the nicest guys in the house but it is very unwise to piss him off or cross him. He doesn't take being backstabbed or double crossed too well.
  • Ship Tease: With Alyssa.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: His reaction when he finds out he's a backdoor target. Gets over it by his eviction and ultimately goes out with class.

  • Action Mom: Averted. Whitney was not a competitor whatsoever and didn't have a competitive or athletic bone in her body.
  • Dumb Blonde: Constantly on the bottom, and rarely has a clue what’s going on in the game.
  • History Repeats: Whitney, an attractive single mom is evicted in 13th place, just like Brittany Martinez in Season 16.
  • Nice Girl: Despite being evicted from the game before they became true villains, or did anything to her in particular, Whitney noticed the misogynistic attitudes of Derek F and Kyland toward many of the women during the later season, and has been vocal about calling this behavior out. She is frequently going to bat for the women who had to put up with them at their worst despite not being in the house for it personally, showing that she cares a lot about her fellow houseguests even though she didn’t get to spend that much time with them.
  • Undying Loyalty: After being an early boot, she remained active on Twitter as a vocal fan and supporter of her fellow members of Team Aces, Derek X and Hannah. She was frequently rooting for them before challenges and often retweeted posts supporting one or both of them. And along with many other fans, she seemed heartbroken by both of their evictions.

  • 0% Approval Rating: Brent annoyed the whole house with his machismo and narcissism. Some people disliked talking to him because he would constantly brag about himself and hit on the women.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Though he's had a few fun moments in Hannah, she's made it very clear she's not interested.
  • He-Man Woman Hater: With two guys gone, he believes it'd be best to target the women...which he says to his teammates, half of which are women.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Had a spectacularly large ego and believed he was running the house, even when he was on the block. It really didn't seem to dawn on him until the very end that people may have had a reason to dislike him.
  • Starter Villain: Didn’t last very long, but is viewed as a notable antagonist from the early season along with Frenchie.

Brandon "Frenchie" French (Evicted HG #2)

Brandon Lee "Frenchie" French

Born: Jan 01, 1987
Age (at time of competition): 34
Hometown: Camden, Tennessee
Current City: Clarksville, Tennessee
Occupation: Farmer
Team: JOKERS (Frenchie, Azah, Britini, Derek F.)
HOH Wins: 1 (Week 1)
POV Wins: 0
Wildcard Competition Wins: 0
Nominations: 1 (Week 2)
Have Nots: 1 (Week 2)
Prizes Won: 0
Punishments Taken: 0
Evicted: 11-1 against Britini (Week 2)
HOH Evicted Under: KYLAND
Finished: 15th (Evicted HG #2)

  • Berserk Button: As a superfan, he's hated alpha male meatheads (the Jacks from Big Brother 21 as a prime example for their rude and aggressive behavior), and showmances for how powerful they can be and destroy the others. He attempted to target either Travis, Christian, and Brent earlier on, but complications with the Wildcard and his acceptance of Brent led him to put Kyland and Alyssa up in hopes someone would use the veto to backdoor Travis. It worked to an extent. He also dislikes when the older contestants go home first ala Glenn and Steve.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right: Frenchie was an erratic oddball for sure, but he correctly identified Kyland and Xavier as big threats right off the bat before they were even on anyone’s radar. With Kyland undergoing Big Bad Slippage and Xavier having the strategic smarts to become an Invincible Villain / Invincible Hero, Frenchie turned out to be right after all. If he hadn’t come across as a crazy person himself, the late game houseguests would likely have been kicking themselves for not listening to his intuitions.
  • Deep South: Frenchie is from the South, being from the Southern state of Tennessee. He's also a farmer for a living, a common occupation amongst many Southerners.
  • A God Am I: Frenchie developed a bit of a power trip during his HoH, to the point after his turn was up and he felt as though he was the target for next week, that it was foolish for anyone to take him out and that he was such an entertaining and loved player. This notably got some backlash from fans and houseguests alike, though upon eviction, he felt he overplayed too early on.
  • Good Ol' Boy: Frenchie is from the Deep South and originally hails from Tennessee.
  • Large Ham: He tends to get very dramatic when things don’t go his way.
  • The Oath-Breaker: Made a promise to not put anyone in his group that he entered the house with (Derek F, Travis, Xavier), any players of color, and any women. Suffice to say, it didn't work out the way he had planned given he ended up nominating Alyssa and Kyland, intended to backdoor Derek X, in part thanks to Christian winning safety and Derek X using the veto.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: His HOH reign did ultimately achieve his initial goal of getting out a strong, athletic white guy (Travis)... but in the process, he irrevocably proved himself to be a snake who can't be trusted.
  • Starter Villain: Didn’t last very long, but is viewed as a notable antagonist from the early season along with Brent.
  • You Were Trying Too Hard: He basically failed because of playing the game too hard, which drew so much negative attention to him that he became an obvious target for the houseguests. Every other houseguest barring Travis outlasted him entirely because of this, since everyone else had some basic ability to be lowkey and stay under the radar compared to Frenchie, whose antics were just too much for the house to ignore.

  • Expy: Going by his appearance and his persona, it seemed as though Travis was going to be the second coming of Tyler Crispen from Big Brother 20. However, he's more like the other Surfer Dude archetypes from previous seasons who were the first evicted houseguests of the season, such as Braden Bacha from Season 11 and Jace Agolli from Season 17.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: He has semi long hair and he's an attractive young man. He's the same archetype as Tyler Crispen from Big Brother 20.
  • Out of Focus: Didn’t get much screen time in his short stay.
  • Surfer Dude: He's not into surfing, but he certainly has the physical appearance of one. His interests include rock climbing, spear fishing and cliff diving. He's pretty adventurous.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: The first evictee.
