The Algoliens are the colorful residents of Algoworld, who have selected members sent by Queen Spectrum to explore the Earth.

As a Whole
Everyone's redesigns
- Ambiguously Human: These characters are not considered humans, but an alien species in an alternate Earth called "Algoliens".
- Color-Coded Characters: Their names describe the color they appear as.
- Meaningful Name: Every character is named after the color they represent, some with small modifications (ex: Minty is the color mint).
- Non-Standard Character Design: In old media, the boys were all ordinary stick figures while the girls had more complex designs.
- Noodle People: Only in stock art, the characters have very thin limbs. Averted in the animations, where their bodies are more human-like.
- Older Than They Look / Younger Than They Look: Some characters have appearances that may strike resemblance to an assumed older or younger age. Olive for example looks like a child, but he is 13. Navy on the other hand is 22, the oldest member of the original cast.
- The Noseless: None of the athletes have noses, although ironically an animation error

Black
- Official Couple: With White.
Blue
- Class Clown: Always eager to make somebody's day.
- The Cutie: He loves to make people happy while having a positive energy of his own.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: Years after the completion ends, he and Minty get married, after having a crush on her during the competition.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: He is less responsible than his twin brother Cyan.
- In Touch with His Feminine Side: Blue is very outgoing, energetic, and positive. On top of that, he also cheerleads, hence the pom poms he carries around.
- Nice Guy: Blue is genuinely good hearted and enjoys making people smile.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The far more energetic and troublesome Red Oni to his brother's relaxed Blue Oni.
Brown
- Misophonia Gag: Is prone to being annoyed by people whistling, calling on speaker phone, or simply hearing the same song over and over again.
- The Unfavorite: His parents favor his 7-year old younger sister, Coco, who annoys him a lot.
Buttermilk
- The Baby of the Bunch: The youngest Algolien sent to Earth.
- Cheerful Child: She is outgoing and positive, wanting to be like her sister.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: Buttermilk is referred to more by "Chamomile" or "Butters".
- Palette Swap: Other than having a daisy dress instead of a princess dress, and minor modifications to the eyes, she comes off as a yellow version of Lavender, considering they're adoptive siblings. May also count as Strong Family Resemblance.
- Shout-Out: Her nickname "Butters" is the same nickname as the character Leopold Stotch, more known as "Butters" Stotch, of South Park.
- Token Mini-Moe: One of the younger and cuter Algoliens alongside Olive, though tends to be more innocent and sweeter than he is.
Charcoal
- Deliberately Monochrome: Shades of gray from head to toe.
- Expy: Of old cartoon characters, notably having a few minor attributes from Popeye the Sailor Man.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's tough but genuinely cares for those she likes.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Her particular take is mixed with an old-fashioned cartoon style, hence all the references to Hanna-Barbera medias.
- Not So Above It All: Despite being tough and strong, she can't win against her prairie dog rival, who gets away scot free.
Chartreuse
Cyan
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: He is more responsible than his twin brother Blue.
- Nice Guy: Is relaxed and supportive to his twin brother and his friends.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The calming Blue Oni to his hyperactive brother's Red Oni.
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The sensitive guy to Navy's manly man.
Dandelion
- Deadpan Snarker: Is stated to have a sarcastic attitude.
- Expy: Daria, of course! Dandelion possesses very similar attire, most notably the green jacket and glasses. She also wears a similarly colored pencil skirt and army boots, which are gray as opposed to Daria's black.
- Fun T-Shirt: Her shirt says "go away" with a 🚫 sign on it, partially obscured by her jacket.
Gold
- Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Gold is a material that often associates with rich people, and that's what Gold is. He also dresses in a tuxedo.
- Perpetual Smiler: Gold almost always smiles, mostly to show his reflective golden teeth.
- Rich Bitch: After somehow winning the lottery he comes off as this. Unfortunately he doesn't succeed because even with money, the other Algoliens can't buy anything with it, as they're on an island on a planet away from their home.
Gray
- Deliberately Monochrome: His character is entirely black and white.
- The Eeyore: He is interested in sad stories and prefers to be alone.
- Emo: Dresses and personifies as such, including his hair forming a bang.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: People tend to avoid Gray because they think he's rude/impractical to talk to. He usually prefers to be alone anyway.
- Perpetual Frowner: To go with his emo style.
Green
- Friend to All Living Things: He enjoys all sorts of living creatures.
Haiti
- Ascended Extra: Was originally introduced as a minor non-competing character, but was added to the show to increase the amount of contestants.
Hot Pink
- Attention Whore: Her life's goal is to be a celebrity. She joined the competition to get her image out there.
- Beauty Is Bad: During her college years, she was a jerky Dude Magnet. Has since readapted by dressing more casually and showing off a lot less.
- Hartman Hips: Compared to the other females, Hot Pink's torso is more noticeably curvy and she has thick legs rather than stick legs.
- Meaningful Name: She's hot, and she's pink. The picture of her used here depicts her in her attractive outfit.
- Ms. Fanservice: Particularly in her revealing dress. Hot Pink is the oldest and most attractive algolien, showing off her curves, long legs, and has an open cleavage. This is toned down when she is seen with her casual wear.
- Reformed Bully: After being the most attractive algolien in college at the time, and downplaying on others, she has decided to change for the better and not present herself in that kind of manner, wanting to take on making new friends during her stay on Earth.
Lavender
- The Cutie: She is young, energetic, fun-loving, and is eager to back off from cowardliness.
- Non-Standard Character Design: She has unique eyes with 2 white highlights on each, and she has more clothing details compared to other characters.
- Pink Means Feminine: Wears a pink dress and boots.
- Puppy-Dog Eyes: Her eyes are the most unique of the cast. They appear to be bigger and shine a reflection.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: She and Purple are the girly girl status to Magenta’s and Pink’s tomboy status.
Lime
- Only Sane Man: Lime is the most serious Algolien on the Earth mission, being the only one willing to study it while others tagged along so he wouldn't get too lonely.
- Teen Genius: He is 16 and enjoys science and mathematics. His calculations are able to get him far in competitions!
Magenta
- Abusive Dad: Her father was implied to be alcoholic and refused to allow her to move onto her own life.
- Black Sheep: Only member of her household who isn't implied alcoholic and aggressive.
- Butt-Monkey: Raised in an abusive family and is constantly relied on by the other Algoliens on Earth.
- Dreary Half-Lidded Eyes: Usually her default eye look to show her calming personality.
- Dude Magnet: Her gorgeous appearance makes several algoliens have a crush on her.
- The Fashionista: She loves trying anything on. You'll see her in a few different outfits in stock arts and other related media.
- French Maid Outfit: Wears one in a few animatic shorts.
- Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: She presents herself in a feminine manner, but is also capable of woodworking. She wants to remind you not to assume someone's personality by appearance.
- Missing Mom: Only her father has ever been brought up; her mother likely either died or moved out.
- Only Sane Woman: In her homeworld, her father was an implied alcoholic and her sisters were abusive, with Magenta herself being the only one willing to stay out of trouble. Not just this, but like Lime, she is one of the more serious Algoliens.
- Pink Means Feminine: She has deep pink skin, loves fashion, and has a beautiful appearance. and then there’s her love for woodworking.
- Team Mom: Compared to others, she takes on more responsibility, including building structures and cooking breakfast.
- The Un-Smile: In an old family photo of Magenta and her sisters, we see child Magenta smiling nervously with her tough older sisters behind her.
Maroon
- Karma Houdini: Gets no punishment for sending Pink (and possibly Magenta) away from the resort on Planet Phun/
- Sibling Rivalry: He loves to pick on his younger brother Red.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: Was the first one eliminated. Averted when he returned to participate in a competition.
Minty
- A Lizard Named "Liz": A mint algolien named Minty.
- Brainless Beauty: She is beautiful but is often The Ditz, which entertains Pink. Blue also has a crush on her.
- Genki Girl: She is extremely energetic, supportive, and outgoing.
- Hip-Hop: Loves this genre and many others.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: Minty's official name is simply just "Mint", but prefers the additional Y at the end.
- Nice Girl: She is an outgoing positive individual and she always makes sure her friends are not in danger.
- Tank-Top Tomboy: Proudly exposes her midriff.
- Tomboyish Ponytail: Two, precisely!
Navy
- Brought to You by the Letter "S": Has a giant "N" on his shirt.
- The Bully: Is willing to pick on people younger than him.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: His status is pretty mandatory given how cruel he is to others.
- Goofy Print Underwear: He wears pink boxers with gold polka-dots, shown in a short.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He may be strong and loves to pick on others, but he intends to do it just to mess with them and no actual harm. However, others don't take it as a joke.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Has a unique body shape meant to show his strong and tough personality. He is also one of only two confirmed male algoliens with circular eyes (the other is Plum).
- Obviously Evil: With a design like that, it's pretty obvious he's a Big Bad to others, especially Cyan.
- Sore Loser: Really hates losing, especially if he comes close to winning.
Olive
- Abstract Eater: Well almost. He tried to eat a bonus token.
- The Baby of the Bunch: Olive is the youngest Algolien sent to Earth.
- Big Eater: Always hungry and eating something.
- Cheerful Child: Being oblivious to the others' thoughts of him, happiness is his default expression.
- Disappeared Dad: Olive is only known to have been raised by his mother. Nothing of his father is currently known.
- Flat Character: Other than eating big, there's not much known about Olive.
- The Friend Nobody Likes: Others tend to avoid him for his creepiness, namely Lavender.
- Older Than He Looks: Olive resembles a child, but he is actually a young teenager.
- Stylistic Suck: Unlike other Algoliens, Olive is drawn much more crudely as part of his weird personality.
- Tagalong Kid: Was not meant to be a member of the show, as he snuck himself into the ride that took the cast to Earth, thus being forced to join the mission.
Orange
- Everyone Has Standards: Being a guy who loves sports, he hates hockey.
- Lazy Bum: He waits until the last minute to get anything important done, making him a heavy procrastinator.
- Nice Guy: Orange is loyal and kind to anyone who is nice back.
Peach
- Adaptational Personality Change: Before the Algoliens concept was created, Peach used to be a Palette Swap of Lavender, except without a bow. Later on, she gained overalls and eventually a cowgirl hat to differentiate her.
- Expy: Her country-style and color scheme might remind some of Applejack.
- Out of Focus: She doesn't get a lot of attention compared to the others.
Periwinkle
- Alpha Bitch: She loves to pick on other girls who she finds not as attractive as her. One of the victims, and perhaps what could be her favorite, is Lavender. Because of her refusal to listen to the Queen Spectrum, she was not invited to go to Earth, which she probably wouldn't have wanted to do anyway.
- Ascended Extra: Was originally introduced as a minor non-competing character, but was added to the show to increase the amount of contestants.
- Beauty Is Bad: Of course! That's what she uses to get her attention.
- Hate Sink: Only exists to present the stereotypical popular girl all the boys want regardless of her actions.
- It's All About Me: Is very self-centered and looks down on others.
- Not So Above It All: Even as the status for the most attractive Algolien in school, she is scared of her arch-rival, Purple.
Pink
- Berserk Button: Don't call her "Pinkie".
- Brought to You by the Letter "S": Has a "P" on her tank top.
- Fitness Nut: She loves to work out all the time, she even changes her clothes from a dress to a tank top and sweat pants to show it.
- Hypocritical Humor: Is stated to hate when people call her a girly girl, despite clearly showing a feminine image:
- She is boy crazy, towards Red.
- Has a bow on her head.
- Wears pink (but this is excusable because she represents the color pink).
- Wears a bow.
- Used to wear a dress.
- Has makeup on her face.
- Pink Means Feminine: Downplayed. She is pink and female, but chooses to present herself in more of a tomboyish manner.
- Tank-Top Tomboy: She wears a pink tank top with a letter P on it in her redesign.
- Tomboy and Girly Girl: She and Purple are the tomboy status while Lavender and Magenta are girly girls.
Plum
- Nice Guy: He is one of the nicest players and refuses to get into trouble, while still being on everyone's good side, hence why he gets more attention over Purple.
- Parental Favoritism: Unbeknownst to him, his parents loved him more over Purple, which caused Purple to go down a path of Jerkass behavior.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The passive and laid back Blue Oni to her hotheaded sister's Red Oni.
Purple
- Disowned Sibling: She hates her older brother, Plum, due to his nice personality getting attention from everyone, while she is always swept under the rug due to her short-fuse and jealousy.
- Hate Sink: She was clearly meant to be hated due to her negativity.
- It's All About Me: Tries to get attention from people to give her what she wants.
- Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Purple has the worst attitude of the entire original cast. When Red crash landed onto Planet Phun, she insulted him instead of caring for him, later revealed to be because of a feud they had in the past.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The cruel Red Oni to her brother's more relaxed Blue Oni.
- The Unfavorite: Her older brother Plum's popularity and good nature completely grabs the attention of their parents, leaving Purple as this which turns her into a Jerkass.
- Womanchild: Purple's age is 18 years old, which makes her a young adult if going by human years, therefore her jerkass behavior and wanting for attention makes her come off as this.
Red
- Brought to You by the Letter "S": Downplayed This stock art shows him carrying an R-shaped key like his namesake, but it has since not made another appearance.
- Likes Older Women: Red is the most attracted to Magenta and Hot Pink, who are at 4-9 years older than him.
- Nice Guy: Is willing to help friends in need. He also doesn't care about winning or losing.
- Sibling Rivalry: With Maroon, who loves to pick on him a lot.
Sea Green
- Non-Human Non-Binary: They are a non-binary algolien.
- Token Minority: Is the only non-binary player in the game.
Tan
- Adaptational Gender Identity: Was originally male in early Algodood Algicosathlon projects before the Algoliens concept was created. She was changed to a female in the Algoliens project.
- Brought to You by the Letter "S": Has a "T" on her dress.
- Shrinking Violet: She does not like to interact with others much in fear that she will accidentally offend.
- Token Minority: The token transgender.
- When She Smiles: It's not very common to see her smile.
Teal
- Fanservice: This◊ picture of her old design is rather interesting.
- Mood-Swinger: Her personality can go all over the place. Sometimes she's neutral, sometimes she's hyperactive, and sometimes she's worrysome.
- Tomboyness Upgrade: She used to be a lot more feminine, but has since trashed her bow in exchange for a hat and extended her pant lengths.
- Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Despite being tomboyish, she still liked to show off and wear a bow, until changing to a hat.
- Valley Girl: In a way.
Yellow
- Brought to You by the Letter "S": Has a "Y" on his shirt.
- Flat Character: Compared to the rest, Yellow is a lot less developed. Many characters show off their personalities through appearance (examples: Orange is an athlete, Lime is a scientist, and Magenta is a fashionista). As for Yellow, he is much more average and doesn't have a unique talent. With that being said, the Algoliens logo features him as the letter "g" with a gaming controller playing a retro game that's a Shout-Out to Super Mario Bros..
White
- Embarrassing Tattoo: White's peace symbol is upside-down, which was done by a mistake by the tattoo artist. She has to deal with it forever.
- Official Couple: With Black.
- Out of Focus: Compared to the rest of the cast, White easily gets the least attention. Subverted in Day 20's opening.
- The Tooth Hurts: She has a visibly missing tooth, with it being unknown how it happened.
Royal Family
Queen Spectrum
- Color-Coded for Your Convenience: She can change colors depending on her emotions:
- Red: Angry
- Orange: Kind
- Yellow: Scared
- Green: Happy
- Blue: Sad
- Purple: Calm
- Everything's Better with Rainbows: She represents all the colors of the rainbow, and can even change color when feeling different moods.
- Friend to All Living Things: The Queen compared to her husband is much nicer, rarely having any feuds with anyone as long as things go alright.
King Saturation
- Deliberately Monochrome: Since he represents shades, he appears accordingly.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He is very strict to the Queen, but cares deep down for her a lot and only wants her to be safe.
Miscellaneous
Bob
A dark blueish-teal figure who offered Pink a massage on Planet Phun.
- The Bus Came Back: He only appeared in Algicosathlon Day 1, but eventually returned in Algotriacontathlon Day 20 with a redesign.
Mr. Crinkle
Masked Alien
An alien supposed creature who travels in a UFO. Their character remains unknown, but as of now their goal is to travel to Planet Phun. Seen at the end of the Season 2 finale.
Families and friends
Algoliens aren't made in a laboratory. They have actual family histories.
- Abusive Parents: Magenta's father. His alcoholic nature manipulates his daughter from letting her go off to start her own life and career.
- Cheerful Child: 3-year-old Blue Jr. loves his older brothers Blue and Cyan and wants to be like them.
- Hypocrite: Murky G. She wants Olive to eat healthy, but she's no better at it.
- Lookalike Lovers: Most parents have similar color schemes.
- Strong Family Resemblance: Murky G. is just like her son, Olive. She is crudely drawn and eats poorly.
