The Seven Heavens

Yahweh, the Mighty and the Splendent

God, the Creator of the entire Universe and everything on it.

  • Above the Gods: In this scenario, Yahweh is the true God of all existence, as he was responsible for creating the Universe. All other gods of the various religions and mythologies are merely disembodied human spirits who gained powers through the worship of mortals.
  • Eldritch Abomination: A benign kind. He existed in an era before time and matter, called the Proto-Universe, and is described more as a force or concept than a being. His powers were so incomprehensible that even the angels could not explain the entirety of His existence.
  • Forged by the Gods: In order for the archangels to be able to fight Tehom and her Monster Gods, Yahweh forged five flaming swords and granted them unique abilities, such as Raphael's sword that can revive spiritual beings (something considered impossible) and Uziel's sword that grants its victim a painless death.
  • Have You Seen My God?: After giving souls to humanity, Yahweh decided to rest, seeing that His creation was complete. Then, He gave control of the universe to the archangels (specifically to Michael) and ascended to Mount Tsafon, the Seventh Heaven, where He fell asleep. Because of this, God remained absent from the main events that occurred on the Seventh Day (from 200,000 BC to the present day).
  • God: He is the creator of everything.
  • God Is Good: Yahweh is described by angels and the archangels as being the source of good, compassion and beauty.
  • God of Light: Yahweh is constantly referred to as the God of Light, with the angels and archangels calling Him the Splendent. In the Proto-Universe, He was associated with light while Tehom, The Anti-God, represented darkness.
  • I Have Many Names: The angels and the archangels call Him Yahweh, but He is also known as the Mighty, the Splendent, Father, the Creator and the Lord. The Atlanteans gave Him the name Darsha.
  • Light 'em Up: In the Proto-Universe, Yahweh was the bearer of light, while Tehom, His opposite force, was associated with darkness. After He defeated her in the Primal Battles, Yahweh took control of both.
  • The Ghost: God's active role in the Universe included its creation and shaping, giving life to angels so they could help Him. After humanity naturally evolved on Eden (Earth), He saw that His creation was growing on its own and decided to rest in the dawn of the Seventh Day. His final act was to give mankind souls, so that they could have free will and would live after the physical death of their bodies. Since then, Yahweh has been sleeping in Mont Tsafon, the seventh layer of Heaven, and the archangels are in control of the Universe, including Earth. In the first book, Gabriel says to Ablon that God isn't resting, but He desire omnipresence and became one with the Cosmos, dissipating His holy essence throughout the Universe and living within His creations.
  • The Omnipresent: After bestowing souls upon mankind, Yahweh ascended to the Seventh Heaven, and there He dissipated His divine essence among all of His creations, effectively becoming one with the Universe. All angels and archangels except Gabriel believed that God had fallen asleep in the Seventh Heaven.
  • Time Abyss: Yahweh, along with His antithesis Tehom, the Darkness, existed since before the birth of the Universe, in a state of reality absent from time, space and matter. Because of the properties of this Proto-Universe, where the concept of time and causality do not apply, it can be assumed that Yahweh has always existed and was not "created" or "born".

Archangels

    In General
The archangels consist of five beings created by Yahweh before time and matter to aid him in his fight against Tehom. Currently, four of them command the Seven Heavens and the angels and the other rules the Sheol, a hellish dimension.
  • Bash Brothers: Together, the five archangels fought Tehom and her spawn even before the Universe was born. Billions of years later, they fought together again against Enuma, the last of the Children of Tehom.
  • Celestial Paragons and Archangels: As the most powerful beings in the Universe, the five archangels rule the Seven Heavens and the entire angelic race. Their word is absolute and anyone who defies their orders is exiled or even killed.
  • Dying Race: Having only five individuals in the entire existence, the archangels could already be considered an endangered species. After the conclusion of the Battle of Armageddon, only Raphael was alive, confined at the entrance to the Third Heaven.
  • Flaming Sword: To fight Tehom and her Monster Gods, Yahweh gave each of the archangels a mystical sword whose blade burns in flames.
  • One-Gender Race: All five archangels are identified as males.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Despite being family, the five archangels have a history of betrayal and rivalry. The most prominent example is Lucifer, who manipulated his other brothers and waged war against them, even going so far as to order Raphael's death.
  • Siblings Share the Throne: Downplayed. The five archangels (four after Lucifer's banishment) rule the Seven Heavens and all the angels, but among them Michael is the most powerful and eldest, so he commands his other brothers and, by extension, the rest of Creation.
  • Time Abyss: All five archangels were created by Yahweh in the Protouniverse, a state of reality before the existence of time and matter, that is, before the creation of the Universe.

    Michael, the Prince of Angels
The Prince of Angels and the Firstborn. Michael is the most powerful being in the Universe after God went to sleep, becoming the de facto ruler of the Heavens and beyond. After humanity received a soul, he became jealous and started a series of catastrophes to destroy them.
  • A God Am I: Being the oldest of the archangels and one of the most powerful beings in the Universe, Michael already considered himself something akin to a God. However, as seen by his Godhood Seeker plan, he knew he could not declare himself one until he absorbed the soul of the strongest human in the world.
  • Anti-Villain: In the beginning of the Universe, Michael, alongside his brothers, helped God with the creation of the Cosmos, and was a fair leader and a loving brother. However, because of Lucifer’s manipulations, Michael began to hate humankind, starting his Guilt-Free Extermination War against them.
  • Archangel Michael: Michael, the Prince of Angels, is the firstborn and the most powerful of the archangels. He was born before the universe and helped God to fight against Tehom, the Darkness. After God fell asleep, he took control of the Seven Heavens and is determined to end humanity, as he considers them evil and corrupt.
  • Big Bad: Of the book A Batalha do Apocalipse. In the Filhos do Éden trilogy, he acts more as a Great Scope Villain, as he doesn't have a significant presence as in the first book.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: As revealed at the end of the book, Michael and Lucifer have been working together since the Dark Archangel's banishment. Each of them is responsible for antagonizing Ablon, the protagonist of the work, in some way.
  • Character Death: Miguel is killed by Ablon when he resurrects thanks to Shamira's magic and stabs him in the back with the Scourge of Fire, Gabriel's mystical sword.
  • Celestial Paragons and Archangels: The Seven Heavens and the angels are rule by the five archangels (by four of them after Lucifer’s Fall): Michael, Gabriel, Lucifer, Raphael and Uziel. The archangels are rule by Michael, who is the firstborn and most powerful among his brothers.
  • The Dreaded: As the most powerful being in the Universe (after God, who is sleeping), Michael is feared by almost everyone, as they know he could smite anyone who stand in his way. Still, there were beings that defied him (Lucifer and Uziel) but ended up defeated.
  • Dies Wide Open: After being stabbed by Ablon, Miguel falls to the ground and dies with his eyes open staring at the sky above.
  • Flaming Sword: His sword, the Flame of Death, was a gift from Yahweh, a blade so powerful that could kill the primordial monsters made by Tehom.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Invoked. Just before he died, Michael told Ablon that everything he did (the massacres and genocides against humanity, the banishment of the Brotherhood of Renegades, the death of many angels) was motivated by love for Yahweh, whom he hoped to see again. However, Ablon was not convinced and told him that he was actually motivated by jealousy.
  • Godhood Seeker: His ultimate plan, along with Lucifer, was to kidnap Shamira (the greatest sorceress in human history), take her to the Stronghold of Zion and, when humanity was extinguished in the Apocalypse, use her soul to ascend to godhood, becoming a new God to the Universe.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The Prince of Angels died when Ablon stabbed him with the Scourge of Fire, Gabriel's sword.
  • Kill All Humans: His official motto. He considers humanity as evil and inherently corrupted and they don’t deserve God’s love. Because of that, since the beginning of the Seventh Day, he started a genocide against the human race, with Ice Ages, cataclysms and the Great Flood.
  • The Leader: Michael is considered the direct heir of Yahweh and the ultimate ruler of the Seven Heavens and beyond. During the Civil War, he was the leader of the Loyalists, angels of various castes who share a hatred and contempt for humanity and fight to extinguish it.
  • Scars Are Forever: Quite literally. Miguel has scars on his face caused by the Primal Battles, a conflict that took place before the beginning of the Universe.

Gabriel, the Fire Master and the Messenger of God
The Fire Master, God's Strength and the Messenger. Gabriel is one of the five archangels created by God in an era before time. At first, when Michael started killing the humans, he sided with his brother, but after some events on Earth, Gabriel decided to defend mankind, starting the 2000 years long Civil War in the Seven Heavens.
  • Anti-Villain: At first, Gabriel sided with Michael when he decided to kill all the humans, going as far as decimating Metatron’s village full of humans to make him return to the Seven Heavens. After his child's death and Michael’s betrayal, however, he decided to defend the human race from his genocide campaign.
  • Archangel Gabriel: Gabriel, the Fire Master, is one of the five archangels of Heaven. He was created before the universe to help God fight Tehom, the Darkness. After the creation of the cosmos, Gabriel became patron of the Ishins, elemental angels, and helped Michael to wreak havoc on humanity. However, after he spent some time on Earth, he stays in humanity side and starts a Civil War with his loyal angels to protect them.
  • Ascended to a Higher Plane of Existence: Before the battle of Armageddon began, Gabriel explained to Ablon about the true status of Yahweh, of how God dissipated his divine essence among the Universe and now lives within all of his creations, reaching omnipresence. Inspired by his father's actions, Gabriel flies beyond the clouds and also dissipates his spiritual essence, not before handing over the leadership of the New Rebels to Ablon.
  • Big Good: Since 1 a.C., he is the Big Good protecting humanity from the forces of Michael.
  • Deliver Us from Evil: Gabriel changes his view about humankind after having a child with a woman, loving his son so much that he realizes what Yahweh felt with the whole human race in the first place. After Michael threatens the life and soul of Gabriel’s son, the Fire Master decides to start a Civil War against his brother for the fate of humanity.
  • Elemental Powers: Being the patron of the Ishins, elemental angels, Gabriel can control all of the four elements and their variations. He seems to have a major affinity with fire, with one of his many titles being the Fire Master.
  • Flaming Sword: His sword, called Fire Scourge, is a flaming sword given to him by his Father, capable of kill the primordial monsters made by Tehom and others archangels. Ablon could only kill Michael using it.
  • The Leader: He is the main leader of the New Rebels, a rebel faction of the Civil War. After he dissipated his essence through the cosmos, he passed the title to Ablon.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: His picture in the Expanded Universe book shows that he has long, straight and blond hair, reaching his shoulders. In addition, he has a delicate and somewhat feminine face, reflecting his innocence and purity.
  • Mind over Matter: Gabriel’s secret technique is telekinesis. He uses against Ablon in their fight in Jerusalem in A Batalha do Apocalipse and against Metatron in Filhos do Éden: Paraiso Perdido. He can create invisible walls and paralyze his enemies with his mind.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: As expected, given who his son was, Gabriel lives much longer than his offspring for thousands of years.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Among the people killed in his attack on the village of Metatron were the children of the First Angel, implied to be only kids.

Raphael, God's Healing and the Fifth Archangel
God’s Healing, The Fifth Archangel and the Angel of Death. Raphael is one of the five archangels created by God in an era before time. He is the most kind, innocent and pure of all of the archangels, publicly disagreeing with Miguel about his genocidal policy against humans. Disillusioned with the actions of his brothers, he resolved to isolate himself from the Seven Heavens, disappearing completely.
  • All-Loving Hero: Raphael loves everyone, from angel to human. It also includes Michael and Lucifer, his brother, who he disagree in many things (and they do not love him back).
  • Afterlife Welcome: He is the one doing this to human’s souls who reach Paradise, or the Third Heaven. There's a reason he’s called the Angel of Death.
  • Afterlife Antechamber: After his resurrection, he went to Elysium, a gateway to the true paradise, where human souls leave their guilt and anguish behind so they can enter the Third Heaven.
  • Archangel Raphael: Rapahel, God's Healing, was one of the five archangels that were created before the universe to help God fight Tehom, the Darkness. He was kind and honest, and disappeared after his brothers started killing humans.
  • Back from the Dead: After Apollyon killed him, on Lucifer’s orders, Raphael managed to resurrect in the Elysium, the gate to the Third Heaven. This is because of his sword, the Redeemer, given by his father to help his brothers in the fight against Tehom, was able to bring him back to life. The sword is the only object that can resurrect angels, something normally impossible because they have no soul.
  • Energy Beings: An interesting case, as all archangels are spiritual beings, that is, made of spiritual energy. However, among the five archangels, Raphael has the least human form, appearing as a being made of lights and colors, as seen in the book Universe Expanded.
  • Faking the Dead: Even after his resurrection, everybody in the Seven Heavens, including the others archangels, believes he is dead for good.
  • The Heart: He is this between his brothers, long before Gabriel’s Heel-Face Turn. After Lucifer killed him, the other archangels, minus Gabriel, descended further into evil.
  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: While Lucifer managed to corrupt and manipulate the other archangels, Raphael is so pure and good (and smart) that he didn't feel for his brother’s word, knowing that he was up for no good.
  • Resurrective Immortality: Implied. In his conversation with Ablon in Paraíso Perdido, he says that he is the only truly immortal archangel and that while everyone will perish, he will remain eternal.

    Uziel, the Golden Marshal
The Golden Marshal, the Ebony Warrior and the Arm of God. Uziel is one of the five archangels created by God in an era before time. Being the youngest and the weakest among his brothers, he’s subordinate to Michael, appearing less in books than his other brothers.
  • Black Dude Dies First: He is the only archangel with black skin and, not only he’s the first archangel to die, but also the first character in the whole tetralogy, being killed by Michael in the beginning of the first book.
  • Broken Pedestal: He feels that way about Michael when he finds out his brother is lying to them all about God
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: How Michael kills him, with his sword in his brother’s back.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He appears far less than all the archangels in the tetralogy and is quickly killed off at the beginning of the first book.

Angels

    In General
The Angels, also called the Celestials, are a race of spiritual beings who were created by Yahweh on the Second Day of Creation to help him build the Universe. They were divided into seven castes, each with different characteristics, natures and functions..
  • Our Angels Are Different: In this work, angels are spiritual beings created by God to help him in the creation of the Universe. They were divided into seven castes according to their nature and functions.
  • Time Abyss: All angels in existence were created simultaneously at the center of Fulgiston, better known as the Big Bang. This means that they are all over 14 billion years old, the same age as the Universe itself.
  • Winged Humanoid: How many of them are represented. In the Spirit World, they show their wings (some have more than one pair) naturally. In the Physical World, because of the Fabric of Reality, the wings remain hidden.

Cherubim

    In General
The Cherubim are the military caste of Heaven, responsible for fighting in wars and battles in the name of the archangels.
  • The Armies of Heaven: The Cherubs are the military caste of the Seven Heavens. They are specialized warriors, assassins, spies and hunters, who participated in most of the angels conflits, like the Ethereal Wars, Lucifer's rebellion and the Civil War.
  • Badass Army: When they organize themselves into legions, they become this.
  • Cool Sword: Cherubs have in their possession the most powerful swords in the universe. Some cherubs name their swords, creating a special bond with them, like Ablon’s sword, called the Holy Avenger.
  • Good Is Not Soft: As warriors without free will, the Cherubs will not hesitate to kill anyone who stays in their way, including innocent people or human children.
  • One-Man Army: Each Cherub can be one, as they were made by Yahweh to be perfect warriors. Ablon was able to defeat all the Babylon's soldiers single-handed and Apollyon alone destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
  • Proud Warrior Race: Being a caste dedicated to war, they are very proud soldiers that fight until the end.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: In Heaven, the angels are divided into 6 levels of power, called cycles. The higher the cycle, the greater the power.
  • Super-Strength: The strongest angels in Heaven, as they have to be perfect warriors.

Ablon, the First General, the Avenger and the Renegade
The protagonist of A Batalha do Apocalipse. He is a powerful cherub general who was banished to Haled (as the angels call the physical plane) after rebelling against Michael. Throughout human history, he has been preparing to face his enemies at the beginning of the Apocalypse.

    Ishtar, the Golden Wraith
A cherub and Ablon's second-in-command. She is part of the Brotherhood of the Renegades, who were banished to Earth after they rebelled against Michael.
  • Character Death: She is killed by Apollyon in the first book.
  • The Confidant: She is this to Ablon, who always trusts her.
  • Badass in Distress: Apollyon knocked her out and Zamir and his mages, who trapped her in a dungeon below the ziggurat, found her swooning body in the desert. When Ablon finds out about this, he furiously sets off for Babylon to rescue her, but he ends up arriving too late, as Ishtar has succumbed to her wounds. Before the Great Flood, she was captured by Muzda the Iron Colossus, a powerful sentinel who has gone mad and proceeds to rape human women from the village that worships him. Eventually, Ishtar managed to kill him before he abused her.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: How she slays Muzda the Iron Colossus, projecting water particles so fast with her special ability that they cut through his massive iron carapace.
  • He Knows Too Much: Apollyon killed her because she found out that Michael and Lucifer were working together in preparation for the Apocalypse.
  • Master Swordsman: She is a very skilled swordsman, having invented a special ability called Silver Hazard, in which she manages to slice through the air around her so fast that she literally projects her blows, slicing enemies in half without even getting her sword dirty.

    Varna, the First of Many
A cherub that never missed a shot. In the Battle of Armageddon, she serves as the general of Gabriel’s rebel army.

    Balberith, Prince of the Cherubins
A corrupt leader who sided with Michael because of his hatred for humankind.
  • 0% Approval Rating: Since before the Great Flood, the cherubs, including Ablon, had known that Balberith was a corrupt and malevolent prince, and even if they obeyed his orders without question, they did not respect him as a warrior.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: As expected in the Seven Heavens, Balberith became Prince of the Cherubim because of his power level. Apparently, he was stronger than Ablon and Apollyon, two of the most powerful angels in the tetralogy, before the Great Flood.
  • Character Death: He dies after Ablon rips his heart out after a battle.
  • Dramatic High Perching: When Balberith meets Ablon in Rio de Janeiro, he is standing on top of a lamppost, balancing perfectly. This is a common skill among cherubim as they have complete control over their center of gravity.
  • The Dreaded: Not even Apollyon, a chaotic and powerful cherub (at the time of the Great Flood) disobeyed his orders, as he know he could not beat the prince.
  • Evil Redhead: He have long red hair and is in the evil side.

    Baturiel, the Honorable
A cherub captain recognized in the Seven Heavens as a rigid, just, and incorruptible angel
  • The Captain: One of many in the Seven Heavens. During the Battle of Armageddon, he, together with Varna, commanded the troops of the rebel cherubim.
  • Neutral No Longer: According to Ablon, Baturiel was against the extermination of humanity, but he never had the courage to rebel against the archangels, remaining neutral for many years. However, when the Civil War broke out, he joined the New Rebels and went on to fight on behalf of the human race.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Baturiel is not very prominent in A Batalha do Apocalipse, appearing in a few scenes (the most prominent being in the Battle of Armageddom at the end of the book). However, as the cherubim responsible for judging whether humanity should survive the Flood through Noah, Baturiel allowed the human race to prosper in the future.

    Euzin
A soldier charged with taking Shamira to the Fortress of Sion and then killing Ablon.
  • Asshole Victim: No one shed a tear after Varna killed him.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Shamira shot him in the head when he came to kidnap her, but although it didn't kill him, the bullet was bewitched by Shamira, preventing Euzin from dematerializing.
  • The Dragon: He is this to Apollyon, doing most of the dirty work for him.
  • Rape, Pillage, and Burn: He was with Apollyon in the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and it's implied in the first book that he raped the local women before killing them and destroying both cities.

     Zambil and Marilli
Two cherubs hunters who were sent to kill the rest of the Brotherhood of the Renegades, including Ablon.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Ablon kills Marili by stabbing her with her own spear and then kills Zambil by ripping her heart out.
  • Hunter of His Own Kind: They are angels hunting other angels.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: How they kill their victims, with her golden spears. Ironically, Ablon kills Marili this way.
  • Prophecy Twist: Thales revealed to his son that, when he consulted the Oracle of Delphi, she said that the harpies, creatures from Greek mythology who resemble women with wings, would kill him in the future. Later, Thales was killed by Zambil and Marilli who, despite not being harpies, still resemble women with wings.

     Hazai
One of the cherubim who allied with Ablon in his conjuration against Michael and ended up banished to Earth.
  • Afro Asskicker: In the book, he is depicted as having long curly hair and is known to be a mighty warrior.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: He dies in Ablon’s arms before he could tell him the reason Ishtar was killed.
  • Token Minority: He is one of the few black angels in the tetralogy.
  • Too Injured to Save: Ablon finds him barely alive after his deadly encounter with Zambil and Marilli and he was so mortally wounded that the First General knew that he could not save him.
  • Walking the Earth: Like all members of the Brotherhood of the Renegades, Hazai began to walk the Earth after being banished from the Seven Heavens. After departing from the ruins of Enoch, he passed through Egypt and Nubia before being killed.

     Yarion
One of the cherubim who allied with Ablon in his conjuration against Michael and ended up banished to Earth. He is the reason the First General goes to Hell in the 12th century.
  • Badass in Distress: He is a badass angel was kidnapped by Apollyon, dragged to Hell, possibly tortured by years and then killed by the demons.
  • Dragged Off to Hell: Apollyon kidnapped him, dragged him to Zandrak, the Third Circle of Hell, where he kept him imprisoned and tortured for years. In the end, his kidnapping was just bait for Ablon to travel to Hell and be captured by Lucifer.
  • Killed Offscreen: Ablon, and by extension the readers, do not witness his death, but as Apollyon hands his head to the First General, it is confirmed that he was beheaded off-screen.
  • Off with His Head!: Apollyon delivers his head to Ablon after years of torture.
  • The Ghost: He’s never seen alive in the book, only mentioned by Ablon and Apollyon. The only part we see of him in the book is his severed head, delivered by Apollyon to Ablon.

Seraphim

    In General
The Seraphim are the bureaucratic caste of the Seven Heavens, responsible for administering the celestial cities and commanding Cherubs legions.

    Sieme, the Mind Master
A seraph who joined Ablon's choir to help him reach Jerusalem in time for the Battle of Armageddon
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: After being severely beaten, Apollyon placed a huge chunk of a church on her body and then drove a metal cross into her heart.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In Jerusalem, she stayed behind to delay Apollyon, who was chasing Ablon and the rest of the choir.
  • Mind Rape: At the airport, she knocks out the team inside the aviation tower so that she and her colleagues can steal a plane.
  • Mystical White Hair: She is an angel whose avatar has white hair.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: On Earth, her avatar wore social clothes.
  • The Stoic: She doesn't show much of her emotions and thoughts, seeing the world and events around her through logic and reason. This is a normal trait among her caste.
  • Telepath: Like the rest of her caste, Sieme can read the minds of humans and possibly angels. At the airport, she learned how to fly a plane by absorbing a pilot's memories.

Elohim

    In General
The Elohim are one of the seven angelic castes. They live on the physical plane, usually disguised as human beings. They are adept at disguising their pulsating aura and blending in with diverse human ethnicities.
  • Defector from Decadence: The entire caste felt betrayed when the archangels sent the Flood to Earth and did not warn the elohins, who ended up losing family, friends, their home and their kingdoms. After the waters receded, many elohins decided not to return to the Seven Heavens, as a high point of rebellion due to betrayal.
  • Masquerade: Long before the Flood, the elohins descended from outer space and began to live among humans. Some of them, like Orion, the King of Atlantis, did not hide that they were angels, while others preferred to live in anonymity. After the Flood, the caste preferred to keep their true nature hidden from humans, creating false names and stories to blend into modern civilization.
  • Pocket Dimension: All Elohim have the power to create pocket dimension for their own use. After the Flood, they felt betrayed by the Seven Heavens, as they were not warned of the catastrophe, so they decided to join their dimensions and create an even bigger one called the Secret Zone.
  • Portal Door: They can create this to travel the world in seconds.

Ophanim

    In General
The Ophanim are angels of light and cure, serving as the guardian angels of humanity.
  • Actual Pacifist: Ophanins are incapable of hurting and killing other lifeforms, even if they are the worst kind of demon or foe. When they are faced with a situation that they can’t escape or dialogue, they offer their own life instead of murdering someone.
  • Light The Way: They were created by Yahweh to create all kinds of energy (light, heat, radiation). As so, their powers revolves around this.

    Nathanael, the Purest
He is an ophanim who met Ablon in the past while on a mission, serving the archangel Gabriel in the Civil War.
  • Energy Beings: One of his abilities is to transform his entire body into an insubstantial blur of light. He used it when he guided Ablon from China to Jerusalem so he could protect the Sacred Child, inspiring the myth of the Star of Bethlehem.
  • Nice Guy: Like all ophanins, he is a gentle and kind angel, conveying an innocent aura to others around him.
  • Number Two: He appears to be Raphael's second-in-command, helping him manage the Elysium Fields before the Flood. After Raphael disappeared, he allied with Gabriel during the Civil War, commanding the rebel ophanins.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Even knowing that Gabriel did not like Ablon, Nathanael decided to ask the cherub for help, traveling to China to recruit him to defend the life of the Sacred Child.

Hashmalim

    In General
The hashmalim are one of the seven angelic castes. They are responsible for expiating and judging human souls who have committed doubtful deeds. Its powers are based on spirits and shadows.
  • Casting a Shadow: Most of their powers are based on manipulating shadows and darkness, such as creating tentacles made of shadows to attack enemies.
  • Creepy Cave: The Second Heaven, Gehenna, is where most of the hashmalins are located. It resembles a huge and terrifying cave, where the souls of dead humans go through a period of atonement for their sins.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Although they are associated with darkness, suffering and destruction, in general they are not malevolent beings. At the beginning of the universe, they were created by Yahweh to destroy anything that no longer fits in God's plan. After humanity received the soul, they started to judge the dead and decide their fate, being completely neutral in their judgments and, deep down, longing for the souls to reach paradise. Downplayed because the vast majority of hashmalins sided with Lucifer in his rebellion and then with Michael in the Civil War, as many of them really hate humans. Few of them, like Ishmael, joined the New Rebels, the good guys, and swore to protect humanity.

Ishim

    In General
The ishim are one of the seven angelic castes. They are responsible for controlling the forces of nature, with powers based on the four elements and/or control of plant and animal life.
  • Abnormal Allergy: They can get sick if they consume industrialized food or use human technology, such as riding an elevator, because of their strong connection with nature.
  • The Beastmaster: Some Ishins can manipulate and communicate with animal life.
  • Elemental Powers: They can control the classic four elements (air, water, fire, earth) and their variations (ice, electricity, magma).
  • Green Thumb: Some Ishins can control and manipulate plant life.

    Aziel, the Holy Flame
He is an ishim who was sent by the archangel Gabriel, along with the seraph Sieme, to convince Ablon to join the new rebels in the Civil War and Armageddon.
  • The Apprentice: Aziel was Amael's apprentice in Tartarus. When the archangels ordered the fiery ishins to melt the ice caps to cause the Flood, Aziel refused, but was shielded from the archangels' wrath by Amael, who loved him dearly. After his mentor was banished to Hell, Aziel took his place as commander of the Citadel of Fire, the greatest fortress on Tatarus.
  • A Pupil of Mine Until He Turned to Evil: Inverted and then Downplayed. Inverted because Aziel, the pupil, was on the good side during Lucifer's rebellion while Amael, the master, allied himself with the Dark Archangel and was banished to hell and turned into a demon. Downplayed because Amael is not really evil, but was tricked by Lucifer to commit evil.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Despite being calm and understanding, he can be dangerous in a fight, such as when he burned many cherub soldiers after going through the portal on Mount Horeb.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: He and Amael managed to kill Lucifer, a powerful archangel born before time and matter and one of the most feared creatures in the universe.
  • Kill It with Fire: How he and Amael kills Lucifer, burning him completely
  • The Paragon Always Rebels: Averted. Although his master, Amael, joined Lucifer in his rebellion and was later banished to Hell, Aziel did not follow him as he suspected the Dark Archangel's true intentions.
  • Playing with Fire: He is an ishim from the province of fire, able to create flames with his own hands. According to the Expanded Universe book, Aziel's flames are more powerful than usual.

Malakim

    In General
The Malakim are one of the seven angelic castes. They were responsible for noting and recording everything that happens in Cosmos.
  • Bald Mystic: They;'re the smartest caste of angels, who record everything that happens, and both male and female Malakin are bald
  • Bookworm: The vast majority (if not all) of Malakin spend their time within their private libraries in Raqui'a, the Sixth Heaven, writing, reading, translating or transcribing scrolls and tomes.
  • Intelligence Equals Isolation: Malakins, considered one of the smartest castes in the Seven Heavens, rarely interact with other castes, preferring to remain quiet in their libraries. In the Civil War, they remained neutral and supported neither side.
  • Magical Library: Each one of the Malakins private libraries are one of this.
  • Pocket Dimension: Like the Elohins, the Malakins can create particular dimensions that have multiple functions. Solon used one of these to meet Denyel on Earth.
  • The Omniscient: Downplayed. God created them to record the evolution of the universe, time and humanity so that when He woke up in the Apocalypse, they could present what they recorded to Yahweh. However, despite having A LOT of knowledge, they do not know everything and often need the help of other angels to discover the secrets of the Universe.
  • Time Master: The powers of these angels involve manipulating the flow of time in many ways, such as creating a bubble where time freezes, accelerating time, or sending someone into the past.
  • Time Stands Still: They have an ability known as Bubble Stasis, where they create a region in which they control time, even being able to interrupt the flow of time completely.

The Sheol

Lucifer, the Morning Star and the Dark Archangel
The Dark Archangel, the Morning Star, the Devil. Lucifer is one of the five archangel created by Yahweh before time to fight Tehom. He was banished to Sheol, or Hell, and became the Lord of Demons.
  • Arch-Enemy: He has a lot of these (like Michael, for example), but perhaps the most prominent is Metatron, the First Angel. When Enuma, the last of the Monster Gods of Tehom, attacked the Seven Heavens, even the might of the five archangels gathered together was not enough to stop him. However, Metatron, who appeared without being summoned, was the variable that allowed them to win. This deeply infuriated Lucifer, who felt humiliated at having needed the help of "an inferior being" like Metatron. Since then, he has been trying to defeat his rival, attacking what the First Angel held most dear: humanity.
  • Archnemesis Dad: He is this to his daughter with Lilith, Inanna.
  • Bat People: After being thrown into hell, Lucifer's wings resembled those of bats.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: As revealed at the end of the book, Michael and Lucifer have been working together since the Dark Archangel's banishment. Each of them is responsible for antagonizing Ablon, the protagonist of the work, in some way.
  • Character Death: Lucifer is killed by Aziel and Amael when both of them burning him to the crisp.
  • The Chessmaster: Lucifer was responsible for the archangels' hatred of humanity, especially Michael. So that he could affect Metatron for interfering in the affairs of the Seven Heavens, the Dark Archangel resolved to attack his protégés, the human race, with catastrophes and massacres, convincing his brothers that humanity deserved extinction.
  • Divinely Appearing Demons: Lucifer is described as one of the most beautiful angels in the Seven Heavens, with fair skin, blond hair in a braid and radiant blue eyes. When he was still in Heaven, he had beautiful white downy wings and wore a long robe, rarely wearing his armor. After being banished to Hell, Lucifer didn't change his appearance much, except for his wings, which turned like those of bats.
  • Fallen Angel: or Archangel. Lucifer was banished from the Seven Heavens after his rebellion failed, draggin one third of the angels with him to Sheol, an empty dimension that served as Tehom’s grave.
  • Flaming Sword: His sword, the Ray of Dawn, was given to him by Yahweh during the Primal Battles, a gift he keeps to this day but rarely uses.
  • Godhood Seeker: Participating in Michael's plan, Lucifer intended to absorb part of Shamira's soul and ascend to divinity, becoming a sort of The Anti-God for Michael.
  • I Have Many Names: Lucifer have many titles, like the Morning Star, Dark Archangel, Son of Dawn, Lightbearer, Devil, Demon, Prince of Darkness, Lord of Sheol and Father of Lies.
  • Kill It with Fire: How he is killed by Aziel and Amael.
  • The Omniscient: Downplayed. While in Sheol, Lucifer has full knowledge of what goes on in the nine circles of Hell, what his subjects are doing, and who enters his domains through other means, such as when Ablon visited Sheol to duel the Dark Archangel. Despite this, the Morning Star did not discover that Orion, one of his Dukes of Hell, had helped the Renegade escape from Zandrak's dungeons.
  • Satan: Lucifer, the Morning Star, was one of the five archangels created before the universe. He, and one third of the angels, were banished from the Seven Heavens for rebelling against Michael and trying to be greater than God itself. Situated in the Sheol (Hell), he and his fallen angels started to torture evil humans to create more demons and get revenge from their heavenly siblings when the Apocalypse comes.
  • Shapeshifting: Perhaps his best-known skill. Lucifer can take whatever form he wants, such as when he turned into a demonic beast in the fight against Ablon or when he took the form of Shamira to trick the renegade and mortally wound him.

Demons

    In General

    Dukes of Hell
The Nine Dukes of Hell are Sheol's highest-ranking demons, responsible for administering the Nine Circles of Hell and the satanic troops.
  • Asmodeus: Asmodeus, the Forgotten Prince, is one of the Dukes of Hell and commands Jahannam, the First Circle. He's known for being a lover of good food and arts. In this version, he has no reference to his personification of lust.
  • Beelzebub: Beelzebub, the Lord of Flies, is one of the Dukes of Hell. Little is known about him, except that he is responsible for ruling the Fourth Circle of Hell, Dis.
  • Circles of Hell: Each of the Dukes governs one of the Circles of Hell, namely:
    • Jahannam, the First Circle, ruled by Asmodeus, the Forgotten Prince.
    • Avernus, the Second Circle, ruled by Orion, the Fallen King of Atlantis.
    • Gerython, the Third Circle, rule by Molloch, the Executioner.
    • Dis, the Fourth Circle, ruled by Beelzebub, the Lord of Flies.
    • Duzak, Fifth Circle, ruled by Bael, the Unfortunate.
    • Caina, Sixth Circle, ruled by Mammon, the Miserly.
    • Malebolge, Seventh Circle, ruled by Alastor, the Hateful.
    • Mephasta, Eighth Circle, ruled by Mephistopheles, He Who Doesn't Love the Light.
    • Zaqqum, Ninth Circle, ruled by Apollyon, the Destroyer.
  • Demon Lords and Archdevils: They are the highest hierarchy in Hell, second only to Lucifer, who commands the entire dimension authoritatively. Each Duke has a circle to govern and his own satanic troops. Below them are barons, lords, seneschals and many other titles inspired by feudal times. Before the Liberation War, there was a trinity of demons known as the Archdukes of Hell, who were above the nine Dukes and below Lucifer. The three archdukes were Jezebeth, Azazel and Samael. After Jezebeth and Azazel tried to betray Lucifer and ended up dead, the trinity was extinguished, Samael became a personal secretary to the Dark Archangel and the nine Dukes were readjusted.
  • Fallen Angel: All Dukes, new and old, were once angels before they were banished to Hell. Some of the castes they belonged to are known; for example, Asmodeus was a seraphim and Bael was an ophanim.
  • Mammon: Mammon, the Miserly, is one of the Dukes of Hell. Little is known about him, except that he is responsible for ruling the Sixth Circle of Hell, Caina.
  • Mephistopheles: Mephistopheles, He Who Doesn't Love the Light, is one of the Dukes of Hell. Little is known about him, except that he is responsible for ruling the Eighth Circle of Hell, Mephasta.

Malikis

    In General
The Malikis are one of the seven infernal orders. They are chaotic and hellish warriors who seek only death and destruction.
  • Always Chaotic Evil: The Malikis are fallen cherubs who have twisted their angelic nature and turned into barbarian, chaotic, and sadistic warriors, serving only their most destructive instincts. Because of this, they can't organize themselves properly into a united army or caste, just respecting some leaders (like Apollyon) because of the law of the fittest. Zaqqum, the last and ninth circle of Hell, is the main domain of the Malikis and is known as a land where the most chaotic and bloodiest of demons wield power over the rest.
  • The Legions of Hell: They make up the majority of the infernal armies, distributed among Dukes, Barons and other leaders of Sheol.

Apollyon, the Exterminator and the Destroyer
Apollyon, known as the Terminator and the Destroyer, is one of the main antagonists of the book. He is one of the most powerful and feared demons in all of Hell and beyond, serving Lucifer directly, as well as having an age-old rivalry with Ablon.
  • Anarcho-Tyranny: How Apollyon commands the Malikis, the order of infernal warriors who make up most of Hell's military force. In the Ninth Circle, where most of the order is located, what counts is the law of the fittest and only the most violent and chaotic can survive.
  • Arch-Enemy: The rivalry between Apollyon and Ablon goes back long before the Flood and is well known to virtually everyone in the Seven Heavens, when both were powerful Cherub generals. While the First General was the champion of Archangel Michael, the Destroyer was Lucifer's champion. After Apollyon was banished to Hell, the rivalry between the two continued, to the point that Apollyon went hunting for Ablon and his colleagues on Earth.
  • Artifact of Doom: His sword, called Black Fire, belonged to Behemot, one of the Monster Gods created before the Universe by Tehom (see below). It was given to him by Lucifer and is one of the only weapons in the Universe that can kill an archangel, as it was made just for that.
  • Bald of Evil: He is bald and very evil.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: He, along with Michael and Lucifer, is one of the Big Bads of A Batalha do Apocalipse.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Since he was an angel, Apollyon already showed his cruel and evil side and did not hide from anyone, as when, under the orders of the archangels, he destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and killed many humans in other genocidal campaigns. As a devil, he prides himself on nefarious deeds and doesn't regret anything he's done or what he's done.
  • Meaningful Name: Apollyon is a Greek name meaning "The Destroyer." He is referred to in the Hebrew Bible as an bottomless abyss and also in Revelation 9:11 as a fallen angel commanding an army of demon locusts.

Satanis

    In General
The Satanis are one of the seven infernal orders. They are responsible for the administration of Hell, behaving like scribes or feudal lords.
  • Demon Lords and Archdevils: Like the Seraphim, their angelic counterparts, the Satanis are responsible for ruling Hell on behalf of Lucifer and the Nine Dukes (in fact, some of the Dukes are Satanis, like Orion and Asmodeus). They organize themselves into feudal titles like barons or seneschals.
  • Divinely Appearing Demons: One of the strains of Satanis, known as the Séraphs, retains part of their angelic appearance. However, like the rest of the order, they are demons that serve evil and chaos.

Orion, the Silver Star and the Fallen King of Atlantis
The Silver Star and the Fallen King of Atlantis. Orion was an Elohim sent to Earth by the archangels, founding and ruling the city of Atlantis before the Flood. However, due to the betrayal of the Firstborn, Orion joined Lucifer's rebellion, but he was thrown into Sheol and became a demon.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: To take his place among the Atlanteans, whose skin naturally varies in certain shades of blue, Orion created an avatar with cyan skin, silver hair and turquoise eyes.
  • The Emperor: Due to its expansionism and political and military dominance, Atlantis was often considered an empire in the antediluvian era. As the ruler of Atlantis, Orion was considered an emperor.
  • Fallen Hero: Initially, Orion was an honored and respected angel in the Seven Heavens and on Earth. Among his subjects, he was worshiped as a benevolent and competent state deity, ruling Atlantis on the values of honor, honesty, and sincerity. However, after the archangels sent the Flood to Earth and caused the destruction of Atlantis, Orion became angry and embittered, vowing revenge against Michael for losing his kingdom. This caused him to join Lucifer in his rebellion and, consequently, be banished to Hell, where he became a demon. Yet, unlike the rest of his species, he is not truly evil and spends most of his time sunk in his nostalgic feelings for his kingdom.
  • Foil: He is it for Kha, one of Metatron's sentinels and ruler of Sakha. Both are angels sent by the archangels to Earth to protect and watch over humanity and who ended up founding their respective kingdoms. However, while Atlanteans healthily worship Orion as a benevolent king, the Sakhians worship Kha out of fear of divine punishment.
  • Founder of the Kingdom: Orion founded Atlantis in 150,000 BC when he guided the Atlanteans to the Isle of Mu.
  • The Good King: He was considered a benevolent and competent king among his subjects.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Orion, in his celestial bird form, trapped Apollyon atop Mount Meggido to give Ablon time to escape the blast beam of Total Destruction.
  • Immortal Ruler: As the founder and sole king of Atlantis, Orion was in the power of the Jewel of the Sea for over 138.000 years.
  • Prongs of Poseidon: During his time as king of Atlantis, Orion carried a silver bidet that contained the core of the oldest star in the Universe, known as Saphiro.
  • The Omniscient: Through the obelisk present in Atlantis, Orion could see everything that was happening around the world due to the energetic lines that connected through the obelisks.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: When Ablon and Ishtar went to face Kha, one of Metatron's sentinels, Orion resolved to step off his throne in Atlantis and join them in battle.
  • Shapeshifting: During the Battle of Armageddon, Orion transformed into a celestial bird to help Ablon battle Apollyon.

Belials

    In General
The Belials are one of the seven infernal orders. They are demons that travel to Earth to make pacts with humans in exchange for their souls.
  • Deal with the Devil: Members of this order travel to Haled (the physical plane) to make pacts with mortals in exchange for their souls. As such, they increase the contingent of Hell by bringing in new souls to transform into demons.
  • Meaningful Name: The order received its name after Belial, the patriarch of the order. In real life, Belial is the name of a demon present in Canaanite mythology.
  • Super-Persistent Predator: The Hitmen are the indefatigable henchmen of the Traders. These horrendous demons are sent to collect payment as per the terms set out in the pact. They are known to be relentless and never give up on their only goal: capturing doomed souls.
  • Weird Currency: They use the souls they collected from their pacts as currency in Dis, the Fourth Circle of Hell.

    Samael, the Serpent of Eden
The Serpent of Eden. He was the angel that corrupted Adam and Eve, at the behest of Lucifer, thus banishing humanity from the Garden of Eden. After the Dark Archangel's rebellion, he followed his master to Sheol and became his right-hand demon.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Of the Dirty Coward type. After being caught by Metatron leaving the Garden of Eden, Samael begged the First Angel for mercy, asking him to spare his life.
  • Biblical Bad Guy: Samael is the Serpent of Eden, responsible for banishing Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden.
  • Poisonous Person: Like many snakes, Samael can generate venom and use it against his enemies, such as when he spat some in Mammon's face, killing the Duke in no time.
  • Snake People: After his banishment to Hell, Samael transformed into a hideous creature in the form of a serpent, just like when he had entered the Garden of Eden. His underside was similar to that of a serpent, ending in a large green tail. As for the upper part, it has yellowish and reddish scales, two human arms and a snake face.

Daimoniuns

    In General
The Daimoniuns are one of the seven infernal orders. Unable to materialize on Earth, these demons are known to possess human bodies and use them for their nefarious actions.
  • Demonic Possession: The Daimoniuns are the only order of demons unable to create an avatar on the Haled. Because of this, in order for them to travel to the physical world, they must possess human beings and act through them.
  • Driven to Suicide: While not on Earth possessing humans, some Daimoniuns spend their time in the Fifth Circle of Hell, Duzakh, convincing doomed souls to throw themselves into the Abyss of Nymbie, an interdimensional gateway to Limbo, a (non)existential void that leads to the Cessation of Existence. As such, these Daimoniuns lead these souls to a second (and final) death.
  • Super Smoke: One of the images in the Expanded Universe book describes one of the Daimoniun strains as black smoke full of mouths.
  • Symbiotic Possession: Not all strains of Daimoniuns literally take over a human body. The Degenerates, for example, stay in their spiritual form on the Astral Plane feeding on the addictions and self-destructive desires of human beings.

Baals

    In General
The Baals are one of the seven infernal orders. Their main function in Hell is to torture the damned human souls and, consequently, turn them into demons.
  • Being Tortured Makes You Evil: The Baals' main function in Hell is to torture the souls of humans who arrive in Sheol to the point where they strip away all their humanity and remnants of goodness. If so, that soul will be ready to become a demon and join one of the infernal orders.
  • Judge, Jury, and Executioner: The Inquisitors' strain has the function of monitoring other demons, to see if they are acting in accordance with the principles of their orders. The offenders are denounced and taken to the Court of Currents, in the Fourth Circle of Hell.
  • Locked in the Dungeon: They are responsible for running Zandrak's dungeons, located in the Third Circle of Hell. In these prisons, the Baals are charged with torturing their victims for years.

    Balor
Balor is a demon, of the order of the Baals, who was responsible for torturing Ablon for 200 years in Hell.
  • Antagonistic Offspring: Balor, when alive, received a prophecy that he would be killed by his own grandson. In trying to reverse this, he ended up drawing the wrath of said grandson, Edan, causing his death.
  • Character Death: He was killed by Apollyon, on Lucifer's orders, for letting Ablon escape prison.
  • Cyclops: The book describes him as having only one large, black eye.
  • Demon of Human Origin: Like many in Hell, Balor was a human before he became a demon. He was a great warrior and tribesman who lived in Ireland in the 8th century BC.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: As part of the plan to get Ablon out of the dungeons, Lilith distracted Balor with sex while Orion freed the Renegade.
  • Eye Scream: On Earth, Balor died when his grandson, Edan, hit him with a spear right in the eye.
  • Fat Bastard: Balor is described as a demon "fat as three wild bears" with a distended abdomen. Also, he was responsible for torturing Ablon for 200 years straight.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Apollyon hanged him with the whip he used to torture his victims.
  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: As a human, Balor visited a druid and received a prophecy that he would be killed by his grandson. To prevent this future, he locked his only daughter in a tower, to prevent her from having children. However, she was rescued by a warrior, the two had a son and the boy killed his grandfather as revenge for having imprisoned his mother.
  • You Have Failed Me: Lucifer ordered Apollyon to kill him for letting Ablon escape prison.

Zanathus

    In General
The Zanathus are one of the seven infernal orders. Composed of fallen Ishins, they are demons capable of manipulating the four elements and their variations.
  • Animalistic Abomination: The Khurágas strain are atrocious figures that only embody the macabre side of certain animal forces. They appear in the forms of spiders, wolves, panthers, and other beasts of equal savagery.
  • Elemental Powers: Like their angelic counterpart, the Zanthus can manipulate the elemental forces of nature such as the four elements, their variations and semi-elemental products (vacuum, oil, coal, soot, rubber, etc). Unlike the Ishins, however, they use these powers to pollute and derange the environments around them.

    Amael, the Lord of Volcanos
The Lord of Volcanos. He was the Ishim that melted the polar ice caps and caused the Flood. Out of shame, he sided with Lucifer in his rebellion and was banished to Sheol, becoming a Zanathus.
  • A Father to His Men: Is one for Aziel, his pupil. When the archangels summoned the fire ishim to melt the ice caps and cause the Flood, Amael protected him when he refused to fulfill the task. After the Lord of Volcanos banishment, he missed Aziel every day since then.
  • Broken Bird: His guilt at having participated in the Flood turned him into a shell full of regret. Other demons despise him for this, seeing how he has decayed over time.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Lucifer, in addition to manipulating Amael for his personal battle for power, constantly used Amael's life energy to pay the Ferrymans to move his demons across the River Stxy. At the conclusion of the Battle of Armageddon, he and Aziel killed the Dark Lord as punishment for his crimes, including the ones mentioned above.
  • Kill It with Fire: How he and Aziel kills Lucifer, burning him completely.
  • Magma Man: Samael was an angel from the Ishins caste, more specifically from the province of fire. In addition to flames, he can control lava and magma, being known as Lord of Volcanoes. He was responsible for melting the ice caps and causing the Flood, as well as burying the ruins of Enoch using volcanic eruptions.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Since his banishment to Sheol, Amael has spent most of his time mourning and regretting his participation in the Flood, responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent humans.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: His powers over lava and magma makes him a living weapon. Everytime he uses his powers, great destruction follows, like the Great Flood, Enoch’s ruins being buried and the the destruction of the Stronghold of Zion;
  • Tears of Blood: A variation. Since his banishment, Amael cries tears of lava.

Incubbus and Succubus

    In General
A new infernal order made of demons that travel to the mortal plane to seduce mortals.
  • Succubi and Incubi: They are seducers who materialize on Earth in the form of beautiful women and men, copulating with mortals and sucking their energies.
  • To Serve Man: The Lamia strain are demons whose appetite is so great that sex no longer satisfies them: instead, they prefer to devour — literally — the male sexual organs.

    Lilith
The First Woman and the Mother of Succubus. Lilith was the first wife of Adam until she was cast out of Eden by Metatron. Lucifer took her in and took her to Hell, giving her control of the Incubus and Succubus order, as well as serving as his personal concubine.
  • Act of True Love: She distracted Balor to buy time for Ablon and Orion to escape prison, fully aware that it would cost her life. Apparently, based on her final speech with Lucifer, she did so after her conversation about true love with the Renegade.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: As part of the plan to get Ablon out of the dungeons, Lilith distracted Balor with sex while Orion freed the Renegade.
  • Extreme Omnisexual: Implied. As the Mother of Succubus (the order of Succubi and Incubi) and her extreme libido, Lilith seems attracted to humans, demons and who knows what else.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Originally an evil spirit driven solely by libido and hatred, Lilith turned on Lucifer after a conversation with Ablon about true love. She helped the Renegade escape Hell even though she knew the risk of being killed by the Dark Archangel.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: After her talk with Ablon about what true love is and how Lucifer treated her, Lilith was moved by the Renegade's words and decided to help him escape from prison in Hell with Orion, even though he knew it would cost him his life.
  • Lilith: Lilith was the second human to gain consciousness followed by her husband, Adam. The two were taken by Metatron, the First Angel and the one responsible for taking care of Earth and humanity, to the Garden of Eden. Inside these oases, the couple lived a peaceful life, but they soon began to argue because Adam didn't want her to be on top of him during sex. Taking the First Man's side, Metatron expelled Lilith from the Garden and chose Eve as Adam's next wife. Out of Eden and finally able to reproduce, Lilith proceeded to copulate with every man she saw before her until she attracted the attention of Lucifer, who seduced her and took her to Hell, where she became leader of the Incubus and Succubus and the personal concubine of the Dark Archangel.
  • Monster Progenitor: After being expelled from the Garden of Eden by Metatron, Lilith settled on the shores of the Red Sea and began to copulate with any man she saw, producing a large number of children. However, having taken from the waters of Eden, Lilith was not an ordinary human, so her mystical characteristics passed on to her offspring (called the Lilins), who differed from normal humans both physically and in terms of powers. For millennia, they were regarded as abominations and, long before Lucifer created his infernal realm, as demons.
  • Mother of a Thousand Young: Since she was banished from Eden, Lilith has copulated with every man she saw, spawning thousands of demonic hybrids called Lilins. She had so many children that they were enough to create a kingdom of her own in Hell.
  • Off with His Head!: Apollyon beheaded her on Lucifer's orders for having participated in Ablon's escape from Hell.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Although it is hard to keep the count due to the thousands of children Lilith has had over time, it is possible to apply this trope to Inanna, her daughter with Lucifer, considering that the events of Filhos do Éden: Paraíso Perdido take place before A Batalha do Apocalipse.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Being a demon associated with sex and lust, Lilith doesn't mind wandering through Hell naked. When she meets with Ablon to take him to Lucifer, she greets him without any clothing.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Considered by many religions to be the First Woman and the second human to gain consciousness after her ex-husband Adam, Lilith has been alive for 200,000 years, since the beginning of the Seventh Day.
  • The Tease: While taking Ablon to meet Lucifer, Lilith tried to flirt with the Renegade in various ways, including releasing pheromones in the air. However, Ablon, focused on his mission, did not fall for her seduction.
  • Toilet Seat Divorce: According with the backstory, the reason Lilith was thrown out of the Garden of Eden was because Adam would not allow her to be on top of him during the sexual act, leading conflicts and Metatron choosing the First Man's side.

Haled (Earth)

Humans

    Shamira, the Sorceress of En-Dor
Shamira is one of the deuteragonists of A Batalha do Apocalipse, together with Ablon. She is a powerful necromancer known as the Sorceress of En-Dor, who was taken to Babylon to resurrect the late King Cush at the behest of his son Nimrod, the current king. Later, she became the world’s greatest sorceress and remained alive for four millennia, witnessing the entire history of human civilization.
  • Child of Two Worlds: Shamira is the daughter of Akto, an official at the court of King Minos of Crete, and Maya, a Celtic slave. As such, she has both Greek and Celtic ancestry.
  • Child Prodigy: At age 13, Shamira managed to exorcise a demon from the village chief's body, and at age 15 she conjured ghosts to drive out a squad of invaders.
  • Damsel in Distress: She was captured by the Babylonians and taken prisoner to Babel to resurrect King Cush, but as she could not perform the ritual, the sorceress was thrown into the dungeon below the ziggurat. Though she managed to escape on her own to the desert surrounding the city, she was again captured by Zamir, the king's mage and adviser. As the sorcerer was more powerful than she was at the time, it was only with Ablon's help that Shamira was rescued. It happened again in the 21st century, when Shamira was captured by Apollyon on Michael's orders, who took her to the Fortress of Sion in the Ethereal Plane. When Ablon found out, he had to cross half the world and fight several enemies to rescue her again.
  • Death Is Cheap: Shamira was killed by the Total Destruction, an ability of Apollyon that resembles a global-range nuclear explosion. However, Ablon, Aziel, Amael and Nathanael, the last survivors of the conflict, wished to turn the Wheel of Time and erase that dark future. Thus, in the epilogue of the book, Shamira was alive and living together with Ablon in Portugal.
  • Disappeared Dad: Shamira never got to know her father, Akto, because he was killed by Radamanthys, brother of King Minos of Crete and the greatest warrior of the time, when he and his wife, Maya, were fleeing Knossos. Shamira was raised by her mother in En-Dor, a small village in Canaan.
  • Hot Witch: According to her image in the book Expanded Universe, Shamira is a very beautiful and charming girl, in addition to being the greatest witch of all times in the history of mankind.
  • Last of His Kind: At the time of the conclusion of the Battle of Armageddon, Shamira was presumably the last human being in the Universe, as World War III decimated the human population across the Earth. However, she was also killed when Apollyon unleashed his most powerful ability, the Total Destruction, which resembles a nuclear explosion.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: She is this to Ablon. After being rescued from Babylon, the two formed a long and lasting friendship that borders on romanticism. Throughout human history, Ablon has always looked to her for help, whether in matters of magic or just emotional support. When she died at the conclusion of the Battle of Armageddon, Ablon was determined to turn the Wheel of Time and undo that timeline so he could see her again.
  • Necromancer: Shamira is a sorceress from the school of necromancy. At age 13, she expelled a demon from the body of the village chief where she lived, and at age 15 she conjured spirits to defeat invaders who threatened her homeland in Canaan. In time, her fame reached Nimrod, the king of Babylon, who ordered that she be brought into his kingdom to resurrect his father Cush, slain by an enemy tribe known as the Children of Japheth. Despite her power, Shamira failed recover the soul of the former king, as the ritual performed by the Children of Japheth was very efficient.
  • Really 700 Years Old: By draining the energy from evil spirits, Shamira remained immortal for 4.000 years, thus being the oldest human in the angelic tetralogy. In addition to immortality, she has also remained young, retaining the appearance of a woman in her early twenties.
  • The Red Mage: Initially, Shamira belonged only to the school of necromancy. However, as she went on to study with great masters around the world, she learned spells from other schools, including illusionism (when she bewitched her captor in Babylon with a frightening illusion) and conjuration (when she conjured two ethereal entities to catch borrowed their spiritual energies for a ritual).
  • Walking the Earth: As an immortal woman, Shamira has visited many nations throughout human history, which are in chronological order: Canaan (her homeland), Babylon (as a prisoner), Egypt, Rome, China, England, Constantinople, Venice, Israel, Brazil and Portugal.

Babylon

Zamir, the Sorcerer of the Desert
Zamir, known as the Sorcerer of the Desert and the Briliant, was a powerful wizard who served the two known kings of Babylon, Cush and his son Nimrod, the Immortal.
  • Arch-Nemesis: He considers himself Shamira's archenemy, always trying to outdo her in the magic business. After the fall of Babylon, Zamir began to roam the world collecting knowledge of magic to, when he was powerful enough, face Shamira and defeat her to become the greatest wizard in history.
  • Book Smart: Zamir graduated in architecture from the Babylonian Academy of Sciences and proved to be an excellent architect, being responsible for planning the entire infrastructure of the kingdom, such as the Silver Ziggurat, the Hanging Gardens and the famous Tower of Babel.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Zamir was killed when the spirits of Babylonian slaves, conjured by Shamira, ripped his soul from his body in revenge.
  • Elemental Powers: As a wizard of the evocation school, Zamir could manipulate the forces of the elements, as when he summoned a tornado of sand and earth to capture Shamira in the desert surrounding Babylon.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Initially an adviser to King Cush, Zamir took on tutoring his son Nimrod after the monarch's death. As Nimrod grew and became king, Zamir began to manipulate him to build the infrastructure of Babylon and turn it into an empire in the Mesopotamian world.
  • Patricide: After his birth parents were killed in a sandstorm, Zamir was adopted by a seeker of the king, who raised him as his rightful son. However, at age 25, Zamir poisoned his adoptive father and took his place as the king's seeker.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Born in 2414 BC, Zamir was over 2400 years old in 1 BC when he was killed by Shamira, becoming the second oldest human in the tetralogy after only the 4,000-year-old Sorceress of En-Dor herself.
  • Self-Made Orphan: He was orphaned again when he murdered his adoptive father to take his place at the king's court. Although he was already 25 at the time.
  • Serial Killer: After the destruction of Babylon, Zamir began to roam the world murdering powerful masters of magic to absorb their powers and become the greatest wizard in the world. Among his targets were Drakali-Toth, an Egyptian necromancer, and Shamira, though he failed to kill the latter.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Although his adoptive father rescued him and gave him a good life inside the palace, Zamir repaid him by poisoning him and taking his position at the highest court in Babylon.

    Nimrod, the Immortal
Nimrod, the Immortal, was the mighty king of Babylon, also known as the Legendary Babel. During his reign, he built the great Tower of Babel and was responsible for capturing Shamira, the Sorceress of En-Dor.
  • The Ageless: Nimrod stopped aging after drinking the blood of Ishtar, an angel, becoming practically immortal. Because of this, he remained alive for 2400 years (or even longer), but since Ablon managed to wound him in the shoulder and prevent this wound from healing, it is possible that he could be killed by other means.
  • Badass Boast: He gives one after Shamira tries to kill him with a dagger, only to discover that he is immortal.
So are my people, invincible. We do not fear the wrath of God, nor the attack of angels. I challenge you, O Yahweh! You, who sank Enoch, the homeland of my ancestors. I deny you, O Effulgent, for I am Nimrod, the bequest of the great Cain.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Nimrod desired to be immortal and, through the Tower of Babel, battle God and his angels. In the end, he was cursed with non-regenerative immortality after facing Ablon, a renegade angel.
  • Disappeared Dad: His father, former King Cush, was killed by the Children of Japheth, a desert tribe that was an enemy of Babylon. Since then, he has been trying to resurrect him through magic.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Initially, Nimrod was an authoritarian, arrogant and cruel king, placing himself above others. He ordered Shamira's capture so that she would resurrect his father, and when she failed, he had her imprisoned in a dungeon, along with hundreds of other slaves under his domain. However, after witnessing the destruction of his kingdom and the death of his subjects due to his arrogance, he began to roam the Earth and, in a course of 2400 years, became a humbler and wise person, preferring to stay among the needed to remind him of how his arrogance had nearly destroyed him.
  • Immortal Ruler: Well, he was known as "Nimrod the Immortal", but ironically, despite being immortal, his kingdom didn't last long enough for him to rule over many lifetimes.
  • Life Drinker: How he get his ageless immortality, by drinking the blood from Ishtar, an angel that they found barely alive in the desert.
  • Puppet King: Although Nimrod was king, many of his decisions, such as building the Tower of Babel and capturing Shamira, came from Zamir, his main advisor.
  • Really 700 Years Old: The last time Ablon (and readers) see him was in 1 BC, in a small town in China. As he was born in mid-2394 BC, he was approximately 2400 years old when he again encountered the renegade angel.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: Despite being feared and disliked outside Babylon for his imperialist actions, Nimrod was loved and even revered by his people, who saw him as a great warrior and a mighty king.
  • Walking the Earth: By drinking the blood of Ishtar, Nimrod became practically immortal. After the fall of Babylon and the death of his subjects, Nimrod began to roam the world among the poorest and neediest, earning the nickname of King Beggar.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: As stated above, the last time Nimrod was seen was in 1 BC in Bactro, a small village in China. It is not known what happened to him after Ablon left, and since he is immortal, it is unknown if he was present during the events of the Apocalypse.
  • Wound That Will Not Heal: After being defeated in battle, Nimrod was trapped in his throne when Ablon thrust his sword into his shoulder, creating a large wound. Nimrod survived the attack and managed to get off the throne, but his shoulder wound, even after 2400 years, didn't healed.

    Cush
Cush was the former king of Babylon, succeeded by his son Nimrod.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: As part of the Children of Japheth ritual, Cush was trapped in a fire and then wrapped in cloth containing magical formulas. As his flesh burned, the clerics spoke ancient chants and all the negative charge was absorbed by the king, whose soul was cursed and cast into hell.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Years and years of abuse and enslavement over other Mesopotamian civilizations caused one of the desert tribes known as the Children of Japheth to capture and kill him to free the souls of the members who were taken (and therefore killed) to Babylon to be slaves.
  • Equivalent Exchange: The Children of Japeth, that managed to capture him, performed a ritual that, in exchange for his soul going to Hell, the souls of the dead slaves of Babylon would be free and finally achieve peace.
  • Posthumous Character: Cush was killed a year before Shamira was taken to Babylon. He was murdered by the Children of Japheth, a tribe that sought revenge for the monarch's actions.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: The only details we know about Cush come from Nimrod, his son, and Zamir, his former advisor. Other than that, not much is known about his life.

    Adnari
Adnari was a small slave girl who lived in the Silver Ziggurat. She and Shamira soon became great friends because of their mutual conditions.
  • Astral Projection: She learned how to project her soul into the Astral Plane (which she called the Colorless World) from her mother before her tribe was wiped out and she was captured by the Babylonians. In the Silver Ziggurat, she continued to project her soul in secret so that the king's mages would not discover her. One day, during her projections, she met Shamira on the Astral Plane and they became friends.
  • A Child Shall Lead Them: After Kumarbi, the leader of the rebellion, died, she assumed the leadership role of the slaves and led them to victory. Once Babylon was destroyed by Ablon, Adnari guided the slaves through the desert and founded a new civilization.
  • Child Prodigy: At age 12, Adnari was able to project her soul into the Astral Plane, something that normally took years to accomplish. This is because the tribe she came from, known as the Children of Shem, had a natural connection with the supernatural.
  • Founder of the Kingdom: The book says that after leading Babylon's free slaves through the desert, she founded a great civilization.
  • Killed Offscreen: According to the book, Adnari died of unknown causes at the age of 130, after becoming the greatest mage of her time.
  • Vengeful Ghost: Downplayed. In 1 BC, the spirit of Adnari, as well as that of many other Babylonian slaves, was summoned by Shamira so that they could defeat Zamir. As the sorcerer was primarily responsible for ordering the construction of Babylon's infrastructure, which in turn led to many slave deaths, these spirits seized the chance to take revenge on the Sorcerer of the Desert by ripping his soul from his body.
  • Wizards Live Longer: After becoming the greatest mage of her time and founding her own civilization, Adnari passed away at 130 years of age, well beyond the lifetime of a human being (even more so at that time).

China and Greece

Flor do Leste (Flower of East)
Flor do Leste (literal translation: Flower of the East) was a Chinese girl who accompanied Ablon on his journey from China to Rome in 1 BC.
  • Anime Chinese Girl: She is described like this: “small, thin, with white skin and narrow eyes.”
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: Subverted. During the trip down the spirit-haunted route, Ablon distributed blindfolds to the humans so they wouldn't go mad at the sights. However, he forgot to give one to Flor do Leste, who witnessed many frightening visions but did not feel as disturbed as Polix, who removed her blindfold along the way. Shamira theorized that because she is from the dynasty of the Daughters of Shang (known for their connection to the supernatural), Flor do Leste has some immunity to these types of mind traps.
  • Killed Offscreen: According to the book, after Ablon traveled to Jerusalem, she and Shamira returned to China where Flor do Leste lived the rest of her natural life, eventually dying of unknown causes.
  • Tongue Trauma: When she was just a teenager, Chinese rebels captured her and cut off her tongue, just because.
  • Undying Loyalty: With Ablon. The two became close during the journey from China to the West, in which he began to teach her many things (such as writing in Greek) and she helped to heal his necrotic arm caused by the poison of Mai Yun. When they arrived at the ruins of Nod, the girl insisted on accompanying Ablon, even though she knew it could be dangerous. When the party arrived in Alexandria, she wanted to be sold as a slave with Ablon, so that the two would be together. East Flower spent 30 years of her life at Ablon's side, helping Shamira purge the poison from the angel's swooning body.
  • The Voiceless: At age 15, she was captured by Wang Mang's rebels, who cut out her tongue. Because of this, she can only communicate through gestures and writing.

    Thales
Thales was a Greek merchant whom Ablon met on his way to Jerusalem in 1 A.D. The Athenian was traveling with his son, Polix, and his Sicilian servant, Tommaso, as well as the young Chinese woman Flor do Leste. At first, he intended to sell Ablon into slavery when he arrived in Alexandria, but changed his plans when he befriended the Celestial.
  • Character Death: Thales is killed as collateral damage from Zambil and Marilli's search for the Brotherhood of the Renegades.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Upon returning to the stone plaza, Ablon came across the dead body of Tales, with his eyes and tongue torn out, his back ripped and his heart pierced.
  • Eye Scream: Ablon found Thales' body with his eyes gouged out. It is unknown if they were taken out before or after the merchant died.
  • Family Business: In his youth, Thales gave up his military career to become a merchant with his son Polix. He went on to travel the world together with the boy and his Sicilian servant Tommaso. Upon telling Polix about his death prophecy, he decided to pass control of the business to his son.
  • The Fatalist: In his private conversation with Polix, Thales reveals to his son about the prophecy of his death and, despite the young man's protests, he has already accepted what must happen.

    Polix
The son of the Greek merchant Thales. When his father found the angel Ablon and befriended him, the young man protested, saying that they shouldn't trust a "barbarian".
  • Ambiguously Absent Parent: Polix's mother and Thales' wife are not mentioned once in the book. It is unknown if she is still living in Athens, waiting for her family to return, or if she has passed away.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: When they arrived in the Kavir Desert, Ablon suggested that they use a shortcut to get to their destination faster, a route built by the ancient Babylonians in the region. This secret path was tainted with the magic of Zamir, who had conjured up spirits to fuel the enchantment; therefore, the sight of these spirits could make any man succumb to insanity. Before entering the route, Ablon told everyone to wear blindfolds and cover their ears so as not to witness the horrors of that route. However, anxious and afraid, Polix removed the blindfold and found himself facing the ghostly mists of the place, standing still and transfixed by what he had just seen. For the next few days, the young man was still in a state of shock, almost immobile and with expressionless eyes.
  • Pretty Boy: Polyx was described as a strong and handsome young man, like the very incarnation of Apollo.

  • The Ghost: He was never seen in the book, only mentioned by Ablon, Nathanael and Gabriel.

Tehom was the entity of darkness and chaos that existed before the universe. She and Yahweh fought for the control of reality, which ended with her demise.

In General

  • Always Chaotic Evil: Being spawn of the entity that represents primordial chaos, the Monster Gods fought against order, good and light.
