The wrinkles over and under your thumb come from how much you bend them, just like with the fingers and toes. A girl broke a tendon in her right thumb when she was a baby and through her life she wasn't able to bend it at all, but now as a teenager, there are no wrinkles on it!

The "Nightwing VS Daredevil" episode of DEATH BATTLE! was a crossover with the guys at Super Power Beat Down. I had a hunch, but having it confirmed by the rest of the internet was awesome. :D
