Dumb things you used to believe as a kid

I thought people took illegal drugs because they tasted so good. I had no idea it had anything to do with how they made you feel.

What about injected drugs?

In WALL•E, I thought Shelby Forthright (the live-action guy played by Fred Willard) was the president of the US. Of course, back then, I wasn't really following the tragic backstory about the megacorp destroying the environment, just the present story with the funny robots.

I thought the phrase "In midsts of doing (whatever)" was "In the mists of", since it was like you were surrounded by mist and couldn't see anything outside.

I thought the C-word was "crap" and the B-word was "butt".

I used to believe when I was 10 that the fanfic term AU stood for Australia. When I first heard of Undertale AU, I thought it was about an Australian version of Undertale.

When I was younger, I legitimately thought the tape video in the The Ring would indeed kill me IRL in seven days. So when watching it with my mom, I covered my eyes during the scene that played the video even though my mom insisted it was just a movie but she played along. I think I was also terrified at looking at promotional material of Rings back when it was in theaters and chickened out halfway through Annoying Orange's parody of the film.

My current avvie as I write this being Sadako from the OG Ring series reminded me of this lol.

I thought "incel" was a slur for "asexual man" for some reason.

Ironically, it is quite the opposite.

abstinent asexuals are technically volcels but that word has a lot of connotations that don't really apply to them

It's not that dumb but I thought the ring bearer (like in weddings) was called the ring bear. As in, the animal.

I saw a picture of a bar of soap next to someone's feet with the text "it's a trap" as a kid. I thought that the trap was that the person was going to slip on the soap.

When I was a youngling living in a pest-infested apartment, I saw a rat stuck on a mouse trap and thought they were full grown mice, and the mice were the babies. For context, I didn't even know what rats were.

How?

It's a joke about how someone is in a prison shower, bends over to pick up the soap, and gets raped in the ass. I didn't explain it in that much detail earlier because I don't like talking about it. (And now I'm wondering why I mentioned this in the first place.)
