Given that the Fora TRS is now closed and it did discuss that its scope of merging many of these mini-tropes into Forum Speak should probably continue on Wiki Tropes, it makes sense to continue here.

Right, to the sandbox.
e: Aaaand done.
We've been increasingly convinced that Wiki Tropes as an index needs to go entirely, so all our opinions end with "remove from Wiki Tropes if it's indexed anywhere else".

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I just added my opinion to every single one. Boy there are a lot of these. Way more than I thought.
As I scrolled, I found myself wondering what this index is even trying to be. Most of these additions seem entirely random and unrelated, or just generally misplaced. I think Wiki Tropes can be a useful tool if kept broad, but the current state of it is just a big yikes.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI personally am not 100% certain that we need to remove Wiki Tropes entirely but it's certainly looking like it will be pruned significantly.
That said, some items still only have a few opinions and only one or two have 10.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanQuestion about The Database Hates Me for someone who's been around longer than I. Is this line quoted on the page a relic from old TV Tropes? Was this an actual error message that you once got:
- "The database hates you right now. The entry might exist or it might not exist. We would clear this mystery up for you, if we could get to the database. We tried to look it up, but the database puked up an error."
If so, I think the page is worth keeping in some capacity for the lore. If not, I support cutting.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"I joined about a year before that page was made and I don't remember that message, but then again, it could just be because I don't remember everything from 13 years ago (or 12 years ago if we're going by the page creation date). The reason we had the now-cut My SQL page is because earlier database error messages turned MySQL's name into a Wiki Word due to its CamelCase name, and MySQL's name doesn't appear on either The Database Hates Me or that page's history.
Edit: Laconic. The Database Hates Me does mention MySQL in addition to everything in the message given on the main page, so maybe that's the full error message and not what's given on the main page.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Yeah, that was the error at one point.
Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I guess I just forgot about it, then. Kind of like how I don't remember anything I learned about MySQL in college around when Main. The Database Hates Me was made.
Edit: Regarding the Forum Speak votes for The Database Hates Me, wouldn't the TV Tropes Glossary be a better fit since it's an error from the TV Tropes wiki and not a forum thing?

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Seconding that used to be a message. The Database Hates Me is in the same boat as Bibble Bobble.
I've begun to action some of the items on Sandbox.Wiki Tropes. Everybody agreed that All-Blue Entry didn't fit on Wiki Tropes so it's gone. I think we also have consensus to move Bluenose Bowdlerizer to Administrivia/.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMy only opinion for now is to not merge First-Person Writing. Especially that I personally have a pet peeve towards it on Headscratchers and Fridge pages, especially that there so many old entries to it, especially with the deprecated "This Troper", and only a few like me are taking slow actions to clean them up, especially on this thread.

ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔~alnair20aug93: You ought to add that opinion to Sandbox.Wiki Tropes.
Anyhow, I've actioned all these with at least ten opinions so far (All-Blue Entry, Blue Fever, Bluenose Bowdlerizer, Browser Narcotic, Clueless Contributor).
Some tropes have at least 10 opinions but are mixed (Acronym Trope Names - most want to keep in some form; Data Vampires - some people want to merge it into TV Tropes Glossary and others to make it into a broader trope; Dr Pedia And Mr Trope - folks want to move to Just for Fun, but some want also a merge with Wikipedia Syntaxer and Wikipedia Updater). Everything else has less than 10 opinions.
I am thinking perhaps we should start actioning after 7 or so unanimous opinions?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanPushed a few more over the edge into 10 opinions. Some of them require a closer look before I can make a decent opinion. I'm trying to be forgiving with Wiki Tropes by allowing stuff that could apply to other wikis, if it still deserves its own page that is.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Done.
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔I tweaked my votes for the three Wikipedia-related tropes.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Ditto.
I'm wondering if we need a Tv Tropesisms/Tv Tropes Tropes index to hold a lot of the pages, such as Describe Topic Here, that are TV Tropes-specific.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Added a couple more of my opinions. I really have to go through the whole list.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallThat's what TV Tropes Glossary is to me.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Just for the record, I've put a list of "split opinion" items into the opening post for further processing and will collapse the "completed" entries on Sandbox.Wiki Tropes under folders instead of removing them. I've also actioned Blue Shifting (merge into TV Tropes Glossary), Complaining About Complaining and Edit War (removed from Wiki Tropes), Example Explanation Density (cut), Fan Myopia (keep).
Describe Topic Here has hundreds of wicks but also a consensus to move to JFF. TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life has thousands of wicks so I am thinking it may need a dedicated discussion.
Sing out if there is something missing/going pear-shaped.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWould reworking the glossary page to also be an index help or hurt our cause?

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. It kinda already is that- a lot of the entries on the glossary are links to other pages.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"There are still plenty of items on Sandbox.Wiki Tropes with less than 10 opinions. Some items with 8 or 9 opinions are unanimous; perhaps these could be actioned?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'm open to that. Not sure if I am able to go through the whole list, but if there are specific tropes that you want me to add my opinion on, let me know.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI am mostly looking at comments for these with less than 10 opinions.
I expect that we might not develop consensus on all the 10+ items. In that case, we can either discuss them here in-thread, punt them to dedicated TRS threads, and so on.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think that would be a good idea.
Edit: Also, making dedicated TRS threads for tropes that end up not gaining enough consensus might be a good idea.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
Crown Description:
Merges in this thread led to the creation of two pages, Administrivia.Tips On Grammar (a guide on English grammar) and JustForFun.Wikipedia Behavior (a page about habits gained from editing Wikipedia spilling over to edits to TV Tropes). Should either of them be considered Wiki Tropes?
Paging ~wingedcatgirl regarding ^.
Otherwise, I see that many items in the first section of Wiki Tropes have gained at least 7 votes but none more than that.
