Previous thread. I think the combo is just barely in Keep Until Better Image Suggested territory.
That illustrates the trope name, not the trope itself. Pull as JAFAAC.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Pull.
Looking at the wicks and examples, I suspect that this has decayed into "any British guy who's an asshole" despite the strong focus on reality tv in the description.
I don't know how to portray "the mean judge is British", though. Perhaps we could find a picture of Cowell with a panel of non-Brits where he looks displeased and they look more pleasant, and 'shop flags over their heads?

For the moment, pull.
I'd like to apologize for all this.A screenshot of Simon Cowell looking unimpressed at the American Idol judges' table would work better. It's hard to organically illustrate that the person is British, so I wouldn't mind relying on recognizability for that aspect. Alternatively, we could use the the "idiot sandwich" scene of Gordon Ramsay Adam Westing on The Late Late Show.
Keet cleanupSimon who? Never heard of that guy. I don't think he counts as recognizable.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Simon Cowell is the American Idol and Britain's Got Talent judge who's currently the page image, and many examples of this trope are parodies of him and/or Gordon Ramsay from Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares.
Keet cleanupWell I do know Gordon Ramsay. But I'm afraid both of them would fall under Fan Myopia; we can't just put up a picture of them and assume the average reader recognizes them.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Pull current. How are we supposed to illustrate this, since there isn't such a thing as "looking British"? The subtropes of Fake Nationality (mainly Fake American) were BUPKIS'd a few years ago because of JAFAAC issues.
Edit: Link to that thread.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Maybe this◊ + flags?

That sounds a lot better than what we have now, so I'd be fine with adding that if someone makes a version with flags added.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. In that case, using one of them is a bad image for an entirely different reason. You can't illustrate an Expy trope by just showing the original person or character. They're by definition not an expy of themselves.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI don't think this is quite an expy trope; it's more like Cowell, Ramsay, and Piers Morgan codified it.
Yeah, that's a better explanation, but still, many examples are based on them.
Keet cleanupAll I know about Simon Cowell is that he's the King of the Beavers. ;)
Joke aside, I can get behind Synchronicity's suggestion in 13, as it shows the contrast between the nice American hosts and the mean Brit host.
But The Mean Brit is kind of an unclear name that can get easily misused as "any character that is British and mean", like, say, Severus Snape from Harry Potter. If we want to have this limited to reality show hosts, it should probably be named something like The Mean British Host.
Mean Brits who aren't covered by The Mean Brit might be covered by Evil Brit, similarly to how Red Headed Bully was deemed redundant with Evil Redhead (since Tropes Are Flexible).

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.13 with flags:
13 by itself (in case it looks ugly and we'd rather have that info in the caption):
13 with flags.

Come play Character Uplift Game!Took the liberty of adding some dark lines to make the flags pop more against the background.
EDIT: Fixed an issue with the line not being centered on the Union Jack.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. Why does he have duct tape on his mouth? I feel the trope would be clear from their postures (happy/happy/grumpy) but the duct tape suggests he's grumpy because he's prevented from speaking.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
(If I didn't already vote that way.)
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
I know Simon Cowell is the Trope Codifier, but this image is still JAFAAC; you can’t tell that he’s British with just this image. Furthermore, this trope is about mean British judges and panelists, and the pic isn’t demonstrating that aspect of the trope.
back lol
