So Bad It's Horrible Cleanup

Keep an eye out for Vanquish, a 2021 thriller starring Morgan Freeman and Ruby Rose. It currently has 6% RT score (based on 35 reviews), a 15% audience score, and 2.3 on IMDB based on over 500 votes.

On the topic of Morgan Freeman, I had suggested Just Getting Started multiple times in the thread, but no one has said anything about it. It has an RT score of 4%, and audience score of 10%, and an IMDB score of 4.5.

Both of those sound pretty dismal. I wouldn't be opposed to adding them.

I do agree. We'll just have to see how Vanquish's overall reception plays out first.

Now, it probably does qualify, but just to make sure, this entry was added to Film:

• While Power Rangers was never high art, Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie is an entirely new level of bad. The Power Rangers do not even get their powers until 37 minutes in, and the film takes more than another half-hour to get to the first fight scene. The film includes the most blatant and contrived attempts at fan service (bringing back Bulk and Skull as well as two former Power Rangers), an annoying kid character, and large amounts of padding. Captain Logan looked at here and refused to even call it a movie.

Now, I have zero knowledge of Power Rangers. Reviews online seem to be for this being listed, but - correct me if my memory has failed me - I swear I've seen some people online be nostalgic for this movie? Like I said I'm probably completely wrong, but worth a shot. All I know about the movie is that "Sensurround" by They Might Be Giants is on the soundtrack, which I find criminally underrated but also I wish was on the US Factory Showroom album and not just the Japanese, as opposed to being on the film's ost.

Edit: YMMV calls it average at a few points (but strangely not So OK, It's Average) and has mostly positive Tropes. Make of that what you will.

Edit #2: welp, it seems that it was the 1st movie that had Sensurround. Call this my dumbest post yet. Talk about Cowboy BeBop at His Computer...

Former fan of the series, so I can chime in here. The Turbo movie was seen as bad, but not horrible. (A lot of it was spillover from the fans not liking Power Rangers Turbo itself.) It has enough redeeming factors to not be in SBIH.

As an outsider, the entry doesn't do a good job at explaining what makes it horrible, besides some Padding and Pandering to the Base, neither of which sound like a big enough deal to make the movie horrible.

Fan of the series, agreed. While Turbo certainly isn't going to be winning any awards, I never really seen anyone consider the film to be bad enough to qualify as horrible, and I think most of the hate the film would get was carried over from the season that followed it.

While I'm more of a fan of Super Sentai, I don't think Turbo belongs here.

I do remember watching it as a kid, and I found it to be okay, but nothing special.

Alright, it's been cut

Couldn't find a better thread to discuss this, but here goes.

The Razzie awards have been announced, and the Worst Picture winner is... a documentary that doesn't even have its own Wikipedia page. I wasn't aware of Absolute Proof till the nominees were announced. It currently has a 3.4 score on IMDB... and that's all I could find wrt reception.

On that topic, should we have a separate section for documentaries? The following are already listed:

• Hillary's America
• Death of a Nation
• Enter the Anime
• House of Numbers: Anatomy of an Epidemic
• The Undefeated
• Vaxxed

I don't really think it's worth it, since we already split the film subpages up by alphabet, not genre.

Um, didn't we decide to cut Vaxxed? So Bad, It's Horrible isn't a list of works whose message we don't like.

I'm wondering, how come Balan Wonderworld doesn't qualify for Horrible? Its been destroyed by critics and fans alike.

Going through its YMMV page, there are some positive entries like Narm Charm and Visual Effects of Awesome, and a legitimate fandom for the main couple of characters.

OK, upon looking closely on magnumtropus's examples, here are my recommendations:

• Vaxxed: Wikipedia's page is pretty sparse, but I remember a consensus to cut.
• Undefeated on Horrible.Live Action Films N To Z: Cut, people who agree with its politics like the film and these who don't dislike its politics rather than the film per se.
• House of Numbers: Anatomy of an Epidemic on Horrible.Live Action Films G To M: Undecided, it looks like we are mostly commenting on its politics rather than its quality and Wikipedia has a similar take.
• Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party: Leaning cut. Going by Wikipedia it has a reasonable reception money-wise and folks who agree with its politics appear to like it, or at least tolerate it.
• Enter the Anime on Horrible.Live Action Films 0 To F: Keep, like there are genuine quality issues.
• Death of a Nation: Cut. Going by Wikipedia some folks who agree with its politics - notice the theme? - appear to like it and the ratings/box office doesn't seem so bad either.

Frankly, I get the impression that such entries are using this as a political soapbox. It's important to remember that writing quality is a key aspect of this trope and that an audience doesn't stop being an audience just because we don't like its politics.

Regarding Balan Wonderworld: Should we add a commented-out disclaimer to the Horrible.Video Game Generations Seventh Onwards page explaining why it shouldn't be added (ala shows like Johnny Test and Breadwinners on the Western Animation page)?

Gonna rework an example on Horrible.Advertising, because it was originally just "this ad is Horrible because something offensive appeared!".

Originally:

• In October 2020, SNK's licensing partners created an ad for their mobile phone app SNK All Stars that immediately drew backlash from everyone that saw it. The ad in question depicts a scene in which an extremely Out of Character Terry Bogard rides on a motorcycle and smacks the rear ends of three of SNK’s female fighters (who are all the exact same height and have the same hands as Terry for no apparent reason) that he passes when he goes by a bar, before riding into an obstacle and wiping out, as the women walk to confront him. The shoddy animation and Out of Character nature of the ad is bad enough in and of itself; what pushes it into Horrible territory is that one of the women is Kula Diamond, who is canonically underage. SNK pulled the ad and apologized, but the damage was done. Screen Rant has more details.

My rework:

• In October 2020, SNK's licensing partners created an ad for their mobile phone app SNK Allstar that immediately drew backlash from everyone that saw it. The backlash was due to not only the ad's shoddy animation, but also the completely insulting and unappealing portrayal of every character featured in it. SNK pulled the ad and apologized, but the damage was done. Screen Rant has more details.
  • The animation is very low-quality and falls straight into the Uncanny Valley. All three of the featured female characters are are all the exact same height and have the same hands as Terry for no apparent reason. The female characters' faces (eyes, mouths, etc.) also do not move, at all, despite them having an audible conversation.
  • Every single character in the ad is depicted in a manner that would be an outright insult to many SNK fans. As Allstar is a crossover, insulting characters' fans this way is not a good idea. Additionally, the ad's sexual assault against female fighter characters in their fighting gear turned off outsiders as well, in an age of great stigma against throwaway sexual assault. The ad in question depicts a scene in which Terry Bogard rides on a motorcycle and smacks the rear ends of three of SNK’s female fighters who he passes as he goes by a bar, namely Kula Diamond, Mai Shiranui, and Blue Mary. Bogard then rides into an obstacle and wipes out, as the girls walk over to confront him. Not only was it Out of Character for Terry to intentionally commit sexual assault, but many fans were also far less than amused at Kula's presence due to her being only 14 years old.

The rework is much better organized than what it was originally.

Horrible.Music Other has an entry for a rootkit that was distributed on music CDs via DRM, but isn't music itself. Wouldn't Horrible.Other be a better place for it?

Yeah, that better fits the Software category. It's misleading that the entry's listed as "Music Companies" when Sony itself isn't the Horrible thing, but the software is Horrible.

It still seems kind of complain-y, particularly the first part of the second bullet point, but it seems alright.

I still don't know if the SNK ad counts as Horrible because the uploads I'm seeing of the ad lean less towards "this is horrible and offensive" and more towards "holy shit this is ridiculous" and memeing about the ad, including comparing it to So Bad, It's Good mobile games. It still got backlash and got pulled, but I'm seeing more people mock it playfully than act horrified or anything.

Shouldn't it (and the entire Software folder on Horrible.Other for that matter) be deleted on account of Horrible.Software being a member of the PRLC?

I noticed the memetically neutral reception in the YT comments section of ad reuploads too. There might be Critical Dissonance here; general audience finding it so bad, it's hilarious; but mainstream media being incensed at Kula getting smacked like that. Could be it be reworked into Broken Base?
